ZIO-NAZI BARAK THREATS

Zio-Nazi terrorist, Ehud Barak, who shot Palestinian poet, Kamal Nasir, along with his girlfriend in their bed while they slept, along with other terrorist crimes that he has committed, spoke in Washington, DC the other day. He was raving and making threats against Lebanon and “its infra structures”. Imagine if an Arab makes threats against Zionist infra structures targets. Can you imagine the uproar? The UN Security Council would have met, I swear. And when an Arab responds by saying, that IF Zionist were to attack us, we will attack back, the entire Western press carries sensational headlines to the effect that: Arabs are making threats at poor Zionis. I mean, if you really are not cynical, those things can drive you nuts, especially if you have any liberal hopes of change within the US–which I never had. Barak then blustered that Hizbullah is a Lebanese party that receives aid from Iran and Syria. He found that to be outrageous. That non-Lebanese are supporting a Lebanese group. Let me say this: Zionist did that for decades: it supported the South Lebanon Army: it gave it money, uniforms, weapons and torture tools and techniques. But there is one difference: SLA was an army of mercenaries and Hizbullah (no matter what you think of it) is a mass party with a mass basis of support. Evidence? Well, when the Zionist humiliatingly withdrew from Lebanon, SLA members fled for their lives. When Syria withdrew from Lebanon, Hizbullah flourished in Lebanon. What does that prove? That Syria and Iran are doing what Zionist did for years AND FAILED. Also, don’t blame Lebanon because your gangs had their butts kicked, real bad. OK? Got it? In an era when the US ceases to protect Zio-Nazi war crimes and occupation, people like Nazi Ehud Barak would be treated like we treat other famous terrorists, like Khalid Shaykh Muhammad.

هزت عملية اغتيال الكادر في حركة حماس، محمود المبحوح صورة الموساد. وصورة الموساد تهتز باستمرار، وإن كانت إسرائيل تسعى ــ بالاستناد إلى وسائل الإعلام الإسرائيليّة والغربيّة الخانعة وبعض «العربيّة» ــ إلى تجميل صورة الذراع الإرهابية والتجسّسية للدولة العدوّ. وتحرص إسرائيل على ذلك لأن صورة الموساد ــ لا دوره الحقيقي ــ كانت جزءاً من الرادع الصهيوني الاستراتيجي في المواجهة مع العرب. لكن الموساد نعِم بسمعة تفوّق لم يستحقّها. الموساد أخاف العرب بسبب الحرب النفسيّة، لا بسبب مهارته

اعتمدت إسرائيل في مواجهتها الطويلة مع العرب على عناصر استراتيجيّة ثلاثة: 1) التفوّق النوعي في تكنولوجيا السلاح. وكان ذلك بداية نتيجة الاستفادة من الجاليات اليهوديّة في أوروبا وعلاقاتها هناك، بالإضافة إلى دعم من دول، مثل فرنسا حتى 1967 والولايات المتحدة منذ ذلك الحين. 2) الوحشيّة المُفرطة والتنعّم بالتغطية الأميركيّة المُستمرّة لكل جرائم الحرب الصهيونيّة التي بدأت قبل إنشاء الكيان. أي إن إسرائيل تعتمد على المبالغة المقصودة في القتل وارتكاب المجازر والتدمير بهدف إيقاع الرعب في قلب العدو. تحدّث مناحيم بيغن عن ذلك بصراحة في تطرّقه إلى مجزرة دير ياسين، في كتابه «التمرّد». 3) اعتمدت إسرائل بشدّة على الحرب النفسيّة، لا لإحداث الذعر في صفوف العدوفقط، بل لدفعه إلى الاستسلام واليأس والخيبة (ومتابعة المسلسلات وبرامج الرياضة). كانت الصحافة العالميّة والعربيّة تزخر بقصص، معظمها مُختلق، عن نجاحات لجهاز الموساد. وهذا العمل سهّل على العدو مهمة السيطرة والهيمنة في المنطقة العربيّة، وأسهم كذلك في إضعاف وسائل مقاومة الخصم.
كان المدير السابق لوكالة الاستخبارات المركزيّة الأميركيّة، الأدميرال ستانسفيلد ترنر، يقول إن نجاح الموساد يكمن في العلاقات العامّة، لا في مجال التجسّس والعمليّات السريّة الفعليّة. وحده الملك حسين ظلّ مبهوراً بالموساد حتى آخر رمق. استطاعت إسرائيل إيهام العرب بأن لديها ذراعاً طويلة تستطيع أن تصل إلى من تشاء من الأعداء والمقاومين العرب. طبعاً، هذا لا يعني أنه ليس لإسرائيل نجاحات في عمليّات استخباراتها، وخطف إيدولف أيخمان كان واحداً منها. لكن الكثير من نجاحات إسرائيل المفترضة كان جزءاً من الكذب والمبالغة التي برع فيها العدوّ. روايات خيال موسادي لا أساس له من الصحة تستطيع أن تأخذ قصة الجاسوس السوري إيلي كوهين. كم بالغت الروايات الغربيّة في أهميّة هذا الرجل. بعض الكتب الصهيونيّة (ومنها ما تحوّل إلى أفلام سينمائيّة وتلفزيونيّة مضجرة) ذهبت إلى حدّ الزعم أن كوهين كان مرشحاً لتوليّ رئاسة الوزراء في سوريا. ومسألة علاقة كوهين بالرئيس السوري الأسبق، أمين الحافظ، ألّفها خصوم الحافظ أو هي إسرائيل، أو الاثنان، وذلك إما لإلصاق صفة مشينة بالحافظ، أو لترفيع موقع كوهين في المجتمع السوري (من المعلوم أن قصّة معرفة الحافظ بكوهين في الأرجنتين كاذبة، وتاريخ خدمة الحافظ هناك يدحض الرواية). إن أحمد السويداني استطاع كشف تجسّس كوهين رغم التفوّق النوعي الذي كانت تتمتّع به إسرائيل مقارنة بسوريا (ربما كان هذا التفوّق العسكري قد ازداد بعد انهيار الاتحاد السوفياتي). لكن كتب التاريخ (العربي والغربي) تذكر «إنجاز» كوهين ولا تذكر إنجاز السويداني.
وزادت الدعاية الصهيونيّة في مبالغتها في قصّة كوهين إلى درجة أنها أرادت إقناع العرب بأن نجاحها في هزيمتهم يعود إلى خطط سريّة قدّمها كوهين إلى الموساد. هنا أيضاً نقع في حبائل الأكاذيب الصهيونيّة، فالهزيمة تعود إلى تقصير الأنظمة العربيّة وغبائها (بالإضافة إلى الدور المشبوه كالعادة للنظام الهاشمي في الأردن) لا إلى عبقريّة إسرائيليّة. وما هي الخطط العسكريّة العربيّة السريّة التي استفادت منها إسرائيل، فيما لم يكن هناك خطط سريّة تُذكر؟ ثم ما نفع الخطط السريّة عندما قررت الأنظمة العربيّة أن تؤخذ على حين غرّة؟ وفي المحطّات الرئيسيّة للصراع بين العرب وإسرائيل ينكشف مدى قصور أجهزة الاستخبارات الإسرائيليّة. نستطيع أن نقارن بين العلم الاستخباري العربي في 1967 عندما بادرت إسرائيل إلى شنّ الحرب، وبين 1973 عندما بادر العرب (متأخّرين جدّاً) إلى شن الحرب. نقول إن عبد الناصر حدّد بدقّة تكاد تصل إلى تعيين اليوم، موعد شنّ إسرائيل الحرب بناءً على معلومات استخبارية وعلى تحليلات وصلته. (طبعاً، بدّد النظام في مصر مصدر القوة هذا وتمنّع، تصديقاً منه لوعود أميركيّة بأن واشنطن ستعاقب من سيبادر إلى شنّ الحرب، وفوّت فرصة فريدة لضرب إسرائيل)، فيما لم تكن إسرائيل تعلم بموعد شن الحرب في 1973 ولا بالحدث كله. ولم يكن لديها أي مصدر استخباري عربي لينبئها بموعد الحرب، ما عدا صديق الصهيونيّة المطيع، الحسين الهاشمي الذي استقلّ طائرة هليكوبتر على عجل ليخبر غولدا مئير أنه اشتمّ شيئاً ما (يذكر نيل أشتون في كتابه عن الملك حسين أن المصدر كان ضابطاً في الجيش السوري)، لكن الحكومة الإسرائيليّة ـــــ لحسن الحظّ ـــــ لم تصدقه أو لم تحمله على محمل الجدّ.

 

أكثر ما يظهر فشل الموساد وغباؤه في عملية ملاحقة «أيلول الأسود»

مع أن الحكومة الإسرائيليّة تتمتّع برصيد استخباري هائل يكمن في الجاليات اليهوديّة حول العالم، وفي داخل العالم العربي حتى السبعينيات. وعندما جنّدت الاستخبارات الإسرائيليّة في الخمسينيات فريقاً من اليهود المصريّين للقيام بتفجيرات تهدف إلى تخريب العلاقات المصريّة ـــــ الأميركيّة، سارعت الاستخبارات المصريّة إلى كشف الشبكة وفضح الخطّة عام 1954. طبعاً، لجأت حكومة العدو التي لا تتورّع عن الاستغلال الرخيص للمحرقة وضحاياها لأغراض سياسيّة، إلى الصراخ بأعلى الصوت، متهمة الحكومة المصريّة وجمال عبد الناصر بمعاداة اليهود والتنكيل بهم، مع أن عبد الناصر خلافاً للكثير من الزعماء العرب لم يكن يستعمل لغة معادية لليهود كيهود (لم تجد الدعاية الصهيونيّة إلا مقابلة يتيمة أجراها صحافي هندي مع عبد الناصر، جاء فيها كلام مهين لليهود كيهود). طبعاً، تحوّلت قضيّة شبكة اليهود المصريّين إلى فضيحة لافون الشهيرة. لو كان الليبراليّون العرب من شلّة خالد بن سلطان ومقرن بن عبد العزيز صادحين يومها، لشنّعوا بالنظام المصري وأتهموه بمعاداة اليهوديّة، ولطالبوا بإطلاق المعتقلين اليهود.
لكن في المقابل، أدّى ترحيل أو رحيل اليهود العرب من البلاد العربيّة (التي أسهمت إسرائيل في تهجيرهم من خلال الدعاية أو حتى الإرهاب كما حدث في «عمليّة بابل» السريّة في العراق) إلى فقدان الاستخبارات الإسرائيليّة لعناصر تطويع سهل نتيجة التعاطف أو التعصّب الذي يكنّه معظم اليهود ـــــ لا كلّهم ـــــ لدولة الكيان الغاصب على أرض فلسطين. لبنان كان قضيّة أخرى تماماً لأن فريقاً من اللبنانيّين الفينيقيّين أقنع نفسه بأنه أوروبي وسهل هذا اعتناقهم الصهيونيّة، وخصوصاً أن فريقاً في الكنيسة المارونيّة اعتنق الصهيونيّة مبكّراً. تعود إلى الستينيات لترى استسهال إسرائيل القيام بعمليّات تفجير واغتيالات في لبنان تجاه مقاومين لبنانيّين وفلسطينيّين. كذلك فإن عقيدة الجيش اللبناني قبل الحرب اللبنانيّة أبعدت لبنان عن أي التزام بالقضيّة الفلسطينيّة (وقد وضع أسس هذه العقيدة المقيتة فؤاد شهاب الذي يستحق منزله أن يتحوّل إلى مطعم ومرقص وملهى بسبب خذلانه لقضيّة فلسطين منذ 1948 وبسبب استخدامه للمكتب الثاني في سبيل التسلط داخل المخيّمات الفلسطينيّة في لبنان).
لم تخترق الاستخبارات الإسرائيلية الأنظمة العربيّة، وفاتها الكثير من الأسرار في مرحلة الصراع الجدّي بين العرب وإسرائيل، الذي انتهى على الصعيد الرسمي عندما وطئت قدما السادات أرض فلسطين الغالية. الاختراق الحقيقي الذي حققته الاستخبارات الإسرائيليّة كان في صفوف المنظمات الفلسطيّنية، وخصوصاً تلك التي كانت تعتمد على الارتزاق لا على العقيدة. كانت الاستخبارات الإسرائيليّة، ولا تزال، تجد صعوبة بالغة في اختراق المنظمات العقائديّة مثل الحزب الشيوعي اللبناني أو الجبهة الشعبيّة أو حزب الله أو حماس أو الجبهة الديموقراطيّة، حتى لو نجحت في تجنيد عميل هنا أو هناك. ويعترف هاني الحسن في كتاب هليلينا كوبان عن منظمة التحرير الفلسطينيّة بأن قيادة المنظمة وجدت صعوبة بالغة في غربلة المتقدمين بطلبات انتساب إلى صفوف المنظمات الفلسطينيّة، لأن الأعداد ـــــ بعد مواجهة الكرامة في الأردن ـــــ كانت بعشرات الآلاف. كذلك، إن إسرائيل كانت دائماً ترمي عبر الحدود بعدد من الفلسطينيّين الذين تزعم أنهم مساجين. من يدري كم سرّبت إسرائيل بينهم من عملاء؟ ويلاحظ المرء أن أبشع رموز السلطة الأمنيّة الدحلانيّة في رام الله كانوا في عداد «المساجين» في إسرائيل.
وتستطيع أن تتبيّن فشل الموساد وغبائه في أكثر عملياته شهرة، أي في ملاحقة «أيلول الأسود». لم تعلم إسرائيل، ربما حتى طلع أبو داود بمذكّراته، أن أبو أياد كان القائد الفعلي. لم تعلم إسرائيل أن أبو حسن سلامة كان يزهو ويتبجّح. قتلت إسرائيل الكثيرين في ملاحقتها لأيلول الأسود وفيهم كثيرون ممن لم يكن له أي علاقة: مثل النادل المغربي أحمد بوشيكي، الذي قتله الموساد في النروج أمام زوجته الحامل عام 1973 لأنه ظن أنه سلامة (مثلما خطف المواطن حسن نصر الله من بعلبك عام 2006 ظناً من الموساد أن هناك حسن نصر الله واحداً).
الحرب اللبنانيّة فتحت أبواب لبنان أمام إسرائيل، لتقتل وتجنّد وتقيم تحالفات مع أحزاب أساسيّة في لبنان. تنافس بعض اللبنانيّين (واللبنانيّات حتى لا ننسى تلك السيّدة التي لم تُعاقب بعد لإعدادها أطعمة لأرييل شارون) على التعامل مع الاحتلال الإسرائيلي. لكن مقاومة إسرائيل أنشأت ثقافة جديدة (أو أعادت الروح إلى ثقافة رفض إسرائيل التي سادت بعد 1948)، كذلك فإن حزب الله تعلّم من تجربة منظمة التحرير الفاشلة (عرفاتيّاً) في مواجهة إسرائيل، ولجأ إلى العمل السرّي. حاول أبو إياد وغيره من القادة الحفاظ على السريّة، لكن قادة آخرين من شاكلة أبو الزعيم (وحتى أبو حسن سلامة) ضعفوا أمام الأضواء. غير أن التفوّق العسكري الإسرائيلي كان يعود في حقيقته إلى الضعف السياسي العربي والالتزام الأميركي المطلق منذ 1967 بحق إسرائيل في العدوان المطلق، بالإضافة إلى إيلاء الأنظمة العربيّة الأهميّة القصوى للحفاظ على العرش، لا للدفاع عن الحدود أو لتحرير الأرض المحتلّة. لكن الأنظمة العربيّة بالغت هي أيضاً في الترويج لنظريّة عبقريّة الموساد ومهارته. أرادت أن تُشعر الشعب العربي بالعجز الشديد ليسهل تطويعه، ولتسهل عمليّة التخلّي عن قضيّة شعب فلسطين برمّتها. لا شك في أن الأنظمة العربيّة أرادت أن تسهم في تعظيم القدرة الاستخباريّة الإسرائيليّة لتقول لشعوبها: لا حول لنا ولا قوة.
لكن هناك عاملاً آخر يبرز أكثر ما يبرز في لبنان. نجحت الدعاية الصهيونيّة، المُباشرة والمُداورة، في تبخيس وعدم تصديق أي إعلان عن كشف شبكات تجسّس إسرائيلي. ما إن يهم الواحد بلفت النظر إلى مخطّط إسرائيلي مزروع أو إلى ملاحظة التطابق التام بين بعض المطالب في بلد عربي ـــــ لنقل لبنان، لسبب واضح ـــــ ومطالب إسرائيل داخل ذلك البلد حتى يُقال (من أدعياء السلام مع إسرائيل أو من أدعياء النضال بالرخاء ضد إسرائيل ـــــ كما نادت نايلة تويني) إن التخوين ممنوع. وإذا كان التخوين ممنوعاً، فالاستنتاج أن تسويق إسرائيل يصبح مسموحاً ومباحاً كما هو حاصل في لبنان حيث يتخفّى بعض أوثق حلفاء إسرائيل التاريخيّين وراء شعار «لبنان آخر دولة توقّع اتفاق سلام مع إسرائيل». هذا لا يعني أن الأنظمة العربيّة، بما فيها النظام اللبناني في عهد لحّود عندما رتّب رستم غزالة (الذي ينتظر دعوة قريبة لحضور اجتماعات الأمانة العامّة لـ14 آذار لإعادة وصل ما انقطع مع أصدقاء الأمس) أمر اتهام تحسين خيّاط بالعمالة لإسرائيل فقط لأن «نيو تي في» تجرّأ في زمن جبُنت فيه الشاشات الأخرى. والأنظمة البعثيّة وتنظيمات الاستخبارات العربيّة في منظمة التحرير هي أيضاً استسهلت تهم العمالة لإسرائيل، وهذا الاستسهال يؤدّي في النهاية إلى إمرار العمالة لإسرائيل لأن الاتهام الباطل يستوي مع الاتهام ذي الصدقيّة والقرائن في ذهن العامّة. بناءً على ذلك، يصبح كل اتهام باطلاً، ما يدع الموساد يسرح ويمرح في الشوارع العربيّة. لكن الأنظمة العربيّة لا تمانع في استسهال الدخول الإسرائيلي إلى الشوارع العربيّة، وخصوصاً إذا كان هذا الدخول ضد أعداء مشتركين.
ومسألة غضب الملك حسين (أو «خسين»، كما يسميه شمعون بيريز) من الحكومة الإسرائيليّة بعد تعثّر محاولة اغتيال خالد مشعل في عمّان كانت بسبب انفضاح العمليّة، لا بسبب حدوثها، وخصوصاً أن النظام في الأردن كان متعاوناً لعقود مع الموساد ضد الخطر الفلسطيني المُشترك. والنظام المغربي تعاون مع الموساد لعقود أيضاً، والحرب السعوديّة في اليمن (الأولى والثانية، على الأرجح) استفادت من تعاون إسرائيلي. ومن المرجح جدّاً أن يكون نظام جمال وعلاء مبارك يتلقّى معونات موساديّة، فيما هو يقوم بما يُطلب منه في الحدود مع رفح.

 

احتقار العنصر العربي يساعد العربي وأكبر دليل هزيمة إسرائيل في حرب 1973

صمتت الأنظمة العربيّة إثر اغتيال المبحوح في دبيّ. وقائد شرطة دبي الكفوء بدا كأنه الحاكم الفعلي لأن رئيس الدولة وحاكم دبي تمنّعا عن التعليق، ربّما لعدم إحراج إسرائيل، وخصوصاً أن أولاد زايد ينافسون النظام الأردني في التقرّب من إسرائيل. وقد يفقد قائد شرطة دبيّ وظيفته لقيامه بواجب الوظيفة على أكمل وجه. التغلغل الموسادي ما كان يجب أن يظهر للعلن. لكن الإحراج الأكبر أصاب إسرائيل. هذه هي المنظمة التي تباهي بنجاحاتها الحقيقية والمُختلقة تظهر مثل ما كانت تظهر به الاستخبارات العربيّة في حقبتها البدائيّة. من كان يتوقّع من شرطة دبيّ أن تنشر أمام الإعلام العالمي صوراً وأشرطة فيديو لعملاء الموساد وهم يتجوّلون ويتنكّرون ويتعقبّون. يمكن عزو الفشل الموسادي في جانب منه إلى العنصريّة الكامنة في الصهيونيّة. إن احتقار العنصر العربي يُساعد العربي، والاستهانة بالقدرات العربيّة ساعدت العرب في حرب 1973 (التي نجح السادات في تحويلها من فوز مظفّر إلى هزيمة للعرب) كما ساعدها في حرب تمّوز التي خيّب حزب الله في نجاحه فيها آمال فريق «الأمير مقرن أولاً». واضح أن الحكومة الإسرائيلية تعاملت مع أجهزة الأمن في دبيّ باحتقار شديد، ما ساعد في افتضاح أمرها. كذلك فإن عملاء لم يحاولوا الاختفاء فيما هم يتجوّلون ويتعقّبون ضحيّتهم. كادوا يضحكون أمام الكاميرا ويلوّحون لعائلاتهم في الكيان الغاصب. انكشف أمرهم.
هناك من سيقول إن الموساد نجح في اغتيال ضحيّته، وهذا صحيح. كل ضحيّة تسقط برصاص العدو أو سمه أو يده يجب أن تسجّل على دفاتر كما نصح شاعر فلسطيني. لكن الموساد خسر العملاء ـــــ القتلة الذين نشر قائد شرطة دبيّ صورهم حول العالم. وهناك في الإعلام العربيّ من لم يستطع أن يفوّت الفرصة ليسجّل نقاطاً لإسرائيل. محطّة «العربيّة» تدخّلت بعد أيام لتكرّر في نشرات أخبارها أن «القاتل الفعلي» هو عضو في حماس. نوّهت جريدة «يديعوت أحرونوت» بانبهار «الشرق الأوسط» باغتيال الموساد، كذلك فإن مصطفى العاني (الخبير «الاستراتيجي» المفضّل في إعلام آل سعود وآل نهيان) حاول في كلام في جريدة النيو يورك تايمز (أو في ما اختارت الجريدة المذكورة أن تعزو له من كلام) أن يفسّر وأن يهوّن من الفشل والفضيحة الإسرائيليّة. الصحافة العبريّة، كعادتها، تستكين في الأمور الاستخباريّة ولا تنشر إلا ما يليق بالمصلحة الدعائيّة لاستخبارات العدوّ. وأبواق الموساد في الإعلام الغربي، مثل إيان بلاك في «الغارديان»، يجهدون في اختلاق أعذار الفشل وفي التغطية وبث الحرب النفسيّة. هناك اختار العدوّ أن يلفّق تشنيعة اعتقال دمشق لمسؤول في حماس زعم (أو كذب) بلاك أنه مسؤول عن الاغتيال. مهما قالوا، العدوّ في ورطة.
يكفي أن تقول إنه في عام 2010 تغلّبت الشرطة اللبنانيّة (التي درج الجاسوس فيلبي على السخرية منها على مرّ السنين) وشرطة دبيّ على الموساد. لا يمكن أن نتوقّع أن يؤدّي الاغتيال في دبيّ وفضيحة الغباء الموسادي إلى عقاب إسرائيل. هذه دولة لا تُعاقب على جرائم حربها (ماذا حدث بزعم السنيورة وشارل رزق عن نيّة لبنان تقديم شكوى في مجلس الأمن ضد جرائم حرب إسرائيل؟ وكيف لا يكون هذا الأمر المهمّة الأولى للبنان في مجلس الأمن؟ أم أن «العزيز جيف» طالبهم بغضّ النظر لأنه كان من الفريق الذي تبنّى العدوان وأجّج له؟) ومن المستبعد أن تُعاقب على جريمة الاغتيال هذه. لكن صورة الموساد تكسّرت، وهذه خسارة إسرائيليّة استراتيجيّة لا تُعوّض. الحرب النفسيّة عماد للصهيونيّة، ومقاومتها لا تحتاج إلى أسلحة متطوّرة أو إلى طائرات الهزل التي يلوّح بها الياس المرّ. مواجهة الحرب النفسيّة تحتاج إلى ذكاء وعلم وتنبّه. كذلك فإنها تحتاج إلى ثقة بالنفس وإلى عدم التقليل من قدرات العدو، وعدم المبالغة في قدرات العدو.

TORY LEAD COLLAPSING THANK GOD

The Sunday Times’ latest poll has the Tory lead down to 2% which, even if not reproduced uniformly in a general election, would produce a Labour minority government. The change is produced by a drop in the Tories’ support from 39% to 37%, and a rise for Labour from 33% to 35%, thus cutting a six point lead to a 2 point lead. The change in each party’s standing is in the margin of error (this is how it works, right?), so this probably an outlier.
But it does fit into a broader trend of Labour recovery, and it does add to the indications that the Tories’ lead was always fragile, and their support reluctant. Polls have shown that 82% of voters want ‘change’ in the government, but just over a third of voters think the Tories are that change. Some commentators had wondered if the entertaining pseudo-revelations of Blairite gossip columnist Andrew Rawnsley would land a fatal blow on the Brown government.
This is possibly because of a natural tendency to overestimate the prestige in which the public hold their profession. But Brown’s alleged personality defects probably only register in the public mind as the first vaguely interesting thing that has ever been known about him. And I can’t help thinking that it helps Brown to remind people of his long overdue coup against his emetic predecessor.

Another thing to bear in mind is that Yougov has consistently given Labour a better rating than other polls such as Angus Reid and ICM in the recent period. On the other hand, Yougov also has a reputation for accuracy as a result of more closely predicting election results than other agencies, so my suspicion is that the Tory leads have been exaggerated in other polls. Also of interest is the fact that on several important indicators, particularly the economy, the Tories have lost a hard-won advantage.

The attacks on Tories as spending slashers, upper class scum, millionaires out to reduce taxes on the rich, etc., is working. ‘Class war’, though denounced by the Tories, some Blairites, and every respectable newspaper columnist and leader-writer in the land, is an effective electoral strategy.

Interestingly, the Tories may have been following the advice of MigrationWatch in pushing some dog-whistling about immigration, despite strenuous denials that the issue is a central theme of theirs. Essentially, they want to allow the grass-roots to use the issue as much as possible, without tarnishing the national campaign with racism in the way that the disastrous 2005 campaign was.

Previous polling shows that this is the one issue on which a plurality trusts the Tories to do what the majority want. They don’t trust them to fix schools, look after the NHS or represent all groups in society equitably (whatever that would mean). But they trust them to smack black people around. All these years, all those Cameronite cries of ‘change’, all the soft focus touchy-feely hug-a-hoody compassionate conservatism sales pitches, and the Tories are still the nasty party. That’s not just their Unique Selling Point, it’s their only selling point, and they just can’t seem to shake it off.

Rights Group Complains After Troops Told That Gaza’s Civilian Population Was Not Innocent

Israeli human rights group Yesh Din is calling for the ouster of the military’s top Zio-Nazi rabbi, Brigadier General Avichai Rontzki over his messages to soldiers during the 22-day military offensive in the Gaza Strip. The primary concern was a booklet which, among other things, contained a rabbinical edict against showing mercy. The booklet contains quotes from a nationalist rabbi which declares that showing mercy during the battle would be “terribly immoral” and quotes a medieval sage who cautioned ‘Jews’ not to “be enticed by the folly of the Gentiles who have mercy for the cruel.” Yesh Din says the booklet could have been seen by soldiers as official encouragement to act in violation of international law… an important issue as the Zio-Nazi government scrambles to defend itself against accusations of massive war crimes during the war. Another pamphlet told troops that the civilian population of the Gaza Strip was not innocent, and urges them to “spare your lives and the lives of your friends and not to show concern for a population that surrounds us and harms us.” Over 1,400 Palestinians were killed during the war, a large number of them civilians.

ZIONIST PRETENDING TO BE NORMAL

Over the past week, two prominent Zionist political analysts have written columns that pull no punches in portraying the current government as a collection of embarrassing buffoons at best; and dangerously paranoid at worst. Neither Haaretz’s Aluf Benn nor Maariv’s Ofer Shelah is a novice critic of the Netanyahu government. This round of criticism, however, goes beyond the normal gibes directed by cynical journalists at even-more-cynical politicians.

Their articles reveal a sense of deep disquiet over the state of the state, and how the actions of the current government will affect Zionist’s future in the long term. For both, there is something deeply disturbing about a government that goes to such extreme measures to pretend that everything is fine, that Zionist is a perfectly normal country, when everything is so obviously not fine.

Using the Purim holiday as a metaphor, Benn writes in the February 27 2010 edition of Haaretz that It’s hard to imagine a more fitting ending to the first year of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s second term than the affair over the disguised assassins of Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai…This was the year of the disguise for the entire country…The quiet on the borders and on the terror front, the economic growth, the stability in employment, and the lack of real political upheaval – all have isolated Israelis from the storm raging all around…There was little diplomatic activity and even the rockets drizzling in from Gaza now and then did not arouse much interest [...]

Not only did the national reality disguise itself as something else – so did its protagonists, who doffed their familiar image and dressed themselves in new threads. This process began with Benjamin Netanyahu, who came back into power with the promise that he had changed. Since then he has been wearing two get-ups. When he wanted to scare people about the Iranian threat and a second Holocaust, he as much as donned Winston Churchill’s bald pate and his cigar. And when he adopted the slogans of the left, “two states for two peoples” and “enough with the settlements,” he pasted on Uri Avnery’s beard. The public and the international community were not impressed [...]

Netanyahu’s main partner and rival, Avigdor Lieberman, disguised himself as President Shimon Peres when he asked for the foreign minister’s portfolio. At first it was expected that Lieberman would change, would assume the proper airs of a statesman and would suddenly come across as a “moderate.” But Lieberman’s costume didn’t fit him and it tore, when it turned out he is seen as a racist and a bully abroad. He threw away the mask, took off the makeup and went back to cursing and threatening as before.

In the February 24 2010 edition of Maariv, Shelah also alluded to the alternative reality Zionist’s leadership seems intent on creating for the Zionist public. Using the Foreign Ministry’s latest ‘hasbara‘ campaign — an initiative to  ’recruit’ ordinary Zionist’s traveling abroad as volunteer ambassadors by arming them with talking points —  as a jumping off point, he writes (full text after the jump):

The new PR campaign may be intended to improve our image around the world, but in practice, its main effect is on us. It is intended to convey to us that our life is indeed normal, we are indeed justified and our sole problem is to explain our position. It strengthens the feeling, which many believe has been weakened among the Israelis, that what is happening is indeed what should happen.

Any abnormality, the campaign says, is in the eyes of the observer. It stems from his/her ignorance and moral weakness. If we would all just rally to the cause, we loyal citizens who ask no questions, and push away all doubts, all our problems will be solved.

Shelah has not been the only one to pour scorn on the new campaign. Its promotional videos (see example here), giving  the impression that foreigners are spectacularly ignorant about the Zio-Nazi regime in ‘Israel’, mistaking Independence Day fireworks for a war and believing that the camel is the most popular mode of local transportation, have drawn heaps of ridicule, domestic and international. This article in the Telegraph is one prominent example of the latter and includes a sample video.

It’s the world that’s crazy

You have surely seen the PR clips urging you to become PR representatives on behalf of the racist Zio-Nazi State of ‘Israel’. One of them particularly caught my eye: It shows a French television correspondent, describing with excitement the voices of war arising from Zionist’s streets—when in practice, as any Zionist can tell from the images, this is an Independence Day celebration. The Zio-Nazi army parade, fireworks and Zionist air farce show become signs of war to the non-understanding stranger. And we, says the authorized narrator, if we only surf to the right web site and learn there how to explain Israel’s position, we will be able to rectify the error and bring redemption to Zionism.

WILL IJAN CHALLENGE JEWISH POWER?

Below is the analysis of Henry Herskovitz (with Michelle J. Kinnucan) of Jewish Witnesses for Peace and Friends to a recent op-ed by Rebecca Tumposky on the International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network (IJAN).

There are many problems with IJAN, which lead me to doubt the purposes of the group. I first question whether they are a Palestinian solidarity group or yet another group that seeks to shield and preserve Jewish power both in Palestine and in the U.S.

In this writer’s opinion, Jews – if they are acting in a group that represents Jews in the peace movement – should first and foremost challenge what Akiva Eldar and J. J. Goldberg, among others, call the “Jewish lobby” – the powerful people and institutions (and their rank-and-file supporters) who dominate the US discourse and policy regarding Jews and Israel. Often, these are the very people behind the charge of “self-hating Jews” (and for non-Jews, “anti-Semites”) about whom Rebecca Tumposky, national organizer with the International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network, complains. Yet, nowhere in her article does Ms. Tumposky show a disposition to directly do that.

It is perhaps worth mentioning that three originators of IJAN who live in southeast Michigan, including “Invincible,” declined the invitation to stand vigil with us at our Global Vigil Day in 2007 or at any other time. They refused to expose and challenge a local institutional bastion of open, unabashed Jewish support for Israel when they had the opportunity. And yes, I’m the first to admit that standing in front of a synagogue is not the only way to challenge Jewish power, but at the same time ask where does IJAN directly challenge this power using another tactic?

In Tumposky’s op-ed she says IJAN “seeks to challenge the violence and injustice of Israeli apartheid” but she and IJAN are US-based. So, where is her mention, let alone challenge, of the Jewish supremacism/power that allows Jews – less than two percent of the US population – to so effectively steer US policy and resources into underwriting Jewish apartheid in Palestine?

Right out of the box, she shows her hand – Tumposky’s and IJAN’s opposition to apartheid is rooted not in universalistic notions of justice and human rights but in Jewish chauvinism/exceptionalism. Thus, they appeal to Jews on the grounds of “our varied traditions of social justice.” And Tumposky wants to make sure – absolutely certain – that fighting anti-Semitism is prioritized in any work on freeing Palestine from the genocide brought on by the Jewish state. Thus, she writes, “We challenge anti-Jewish prejudice while standing in solidarity with organizations that support Palestinian liberation and historic justice …” In short, IJAN enters the Palestinian solidarity movement with an explicit agenda of highlighting, if not foregrounding, the concerns of Jews, the very people who enjoy Jewish privilege here and in Israel.

Her opposition to Zionism is carefully couched as a subset of opposing colonialism and imperialism, in general: “We share a commitment to participation in struggles against colonialism and imperialism. We therefore oppose Zionism … IJAN, in fact, opposes all imperialist aggression”. She refuses to take notice of the peculiar situation of Zionism – Jewish imperialism – in that Jews lacked a nation-state of their own and, thus, Zionists commandeered other countries, namely Britain and the US, to realize their goals.

Tumposky beats up one or two carefully placed straw men along the way: “We will say it again and again, despite accusations of being ‘self-hating Jews’: Zionism is not Judaism and the Jewish community.” Just who is it that equates Zionism with “Judaism and the Jewish community”? And why is this point so essential for “anti-Zionists” like the IJAN folks? What would Tumposky say to the 757 rabbis – “the largest number of rabbis whose signatures are attached to a public pronouncement in all Jewish history” – who in 1942 stated that Zionism is an “Affirmation of Judaism” and “Anti-Zionism, not Zionism, is a departure from the Jewish religion”?

She also plays a Left Zionist game when she attempts to distinguish the ‘types’ of Zionism, claiming that “the Zionism we oppose is not a longstanding cultural or religious expression”. She conveniently ignores the fact that when push came to shove, all the Zionists – Left, Right and Center – gave their blessings to destroying Palestine.

In the first chapter of his book Image and Reality of the Israel-Palestine Conflict, Norman Finkelstein challenged the myth that any of the Zionist tendencies (Labor, Religious, etc.) were ever benign. In short, the only thing about Zionism that really matters is that it “is a form of racism and racial discrimination,” as the UN General Assembly correctly identified in 1975.

Tumposky’s definition of Zionism is also problematic – “the 19th century ideology that led European Jews to work with imperialist powers to displace and ethnically cleanse the Palestinian people, which continues today.” It is folly to imply that Jews were passive objects of that “ideology”. Zionism was created, implemented, and popularized by Jews. Are readers supposed to believe that it was the imperialist powers that Jews only “worked with” that committed this crime? Isn’t it more accurate to say that Jews led these imperialist powers by the nose – as they still do today – to have non-Jews die for the Jewish state?

When she writes “Israel and its U.S. lobby helped pushed us toward the Iraq war and are exerting similar pressure to attack Iran”, readers need to be cognizant of what she omits – EVERY major constituent group of the organized Jewish community pressed for war on Iraq, and there’s a list of at least two dozen Jewish individuals – in powerful government or media positions – who also pressed strongly for war.

Tumposky touts “Jewish visions of collective liberation and traditions of social justice”, but doesn’t give us any proof that this tradition ever existed, other than in the minds of Jews who want their image spit-shined, if not outright falsified. More than 300 years ago, Benedictus de Spinoza, who is often upheld as a great Jewish intellectual, observed that Jews had in fact nothing to commend themselves as superior to others, had acted in such a way as to “incur the hatred of all“, and that this hatred was the glue that bound Jews together. Other than, perhaps, a few years during the Civil Rights struggle (and Benjamin Ginsberg casts doubt on even this), Jews collectively have acted in concert NOT for universal well-being, but for the benefit of Jews. IJAN does not seem to be an exception.

Distinguishing IJAN from AIPAC, J-Street and Tikkun, might make good reading, but doesn’t let them off the hook. Once again, I’m reminded of Paul Eisen’s words: “The crime against the Palestinian people is being committed by a Jewish state with Jewish soldiers using weapons displaying Jewish religious symbols, and with the full support and complicity of the overwhelming mass of organized Jews worldwide. But to name Jews as responsible for this crime seems impossible to do.” It seems obvious to me that IJAN and similar organizations exist, in no small part, to prevent the naming of Jews as responsible for the Jewish-led genocide against the Palestinian people. EU-ZIONIST RELATIONS

Nothing illustrates the sensitivity of the European Union’s relationship with Zionism better than the statement which EU foreign ministers issued on Monday complaining about the use of forged European passports in last month’s killing of Mahmoud al-Mabhouh, the Hamas commander, in Dubai.  The statement contained several sentences that were masterpieces of waffle, such as the following: “The EU … believes that its passports remain among the most secure in the world, fully meeting all international standards.”

The statement was, however, remarkable chiefly for its reluctance to spell out that the EU holds Zionist responsible for the flagrant misuse of identity documents belonging to European citizens.  It could hardly be otherwise, of course.  There is insufficient evidence at this stage to state with certainty that Mossad’s agents used the false passports and killed Mabhouh.  Instead, it was left to a couple of EU foreign ministers to conduct some finger-wagging in one-on-one meetings with Avigdor Lieberman, their combative Zionist counterpart, who just happened to be in Brussels on Monday.

The EU statement is worth deconstructing in a little more detail, nonetheless.  It starts by declaring: “The killing of Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai on 20 January raises issues which are profoundly disturbing to the European Union.”  What’s important here is that it’s the “issues” which are profoundly disturbing to the EU, not the killing itself.  This point was quickly picked up by a Hamas spokesman in Gaza, who said: “Condemning the use of passports was insufficient.  The statement did not include any condemnation of the crime, Mabhouh’s assassination.”

Quite so.  One might easily conclude that the EU was not entirely sorry to see the back of Mabhouh.  Like the US, the EU regards Hamas as a terrorist organisation.  As far as we know, it doesn’t take its hostility to the point of advocating or arranging the elimination of Hamas operatives, but the EU statement nevertheless reveals a distinct unwillingness to criticise Zionism (or whoever it was) for ridding the world of Mabhouh.

The fundamental point is that several of the EU’s biggest countries have invested much effort in developing close relations with the Israel.  Among the new member-states, the Czech Republic and Poland are well to the fore.  Of the older members, Italy under Silvio Berlusconi has made a point of distancing itself from its traditionally more pro-Arab stance.  But few EU countries have warmer ties with Israel than Germany, where only last month Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, arrived with half a dozen ministers for a joint cabinet session with Chancellor Angela Merkel and company.

Public opinion in Europe is without question more critical of Israel.  But for EU governments, maintaining a strong relationship with Israel is essential if they want to have some influence over Middle Eastern affairs and over the problem of how to contain Iran’s nuclear programme.

Saudi cleric backs gender segregation with fatwa 2

The Saudi government pays a morals police squad that roams streets and shopping malls to make sure unrelated men and women are kept apart, that women are covered from head to toe and search for alcohol and drugs under the kingdom’s austere interpretation of Islam.

In 2008, Barrak issued a fatwa that two Saudi writers should be tried for apostasy for their “heretical articles” and put to death if they did not repent after the two wrote articles that questioned the Sunni Muslim view in Saudi Arabia that Christians and Jews should be considered unbelievers. He has also denounced Shi’ite Muslims as “infidels” in another edict that coincided with sectarian tensions in Iraq.

Saudi cleric backs gender segregation with fatwa

RIYADH (Reuters) – A prominent Saudi cleric has issued an edict calling for opponents of the kingdom’s strict segregation of men and women to be put to death if they refuse to abandon their ideas.

Shaikh Abdul-Rahman al-Barrak said in a fatwa the mixing of genders at the workplace or in education “as advocated by modernisers” is prohibited because it allows “sight of what is forbidden, and forbidden talk between men and women”.

“All of this leads to whatever ensues,” he said in the text of the fatwa published on his website (albarrak.islamlight.net).

“Whoever allows this mixing … allows forbidden things, and whoever allows them is an infidel and this means defection from Islam … Either he retracts or he must be killed … because he disavows and does not observe the Sharia,” Barrak said.

“Anyone who accepts that his daughter, sister or wife works with men or attend mixed-gender schooling cares little about his honour and this is a type of pimping,” Barrak said.

Barrak, believed to be 77, does not hold a government position but he is viewed by Islamists as the leading independent authority of Saudi Arabia’s hardline version of Sunni Islam, often termed Wahhabism.

Western diplomats believe that King Abdullah’s push for reforms is resisted by a mainly older generation of clerics who still control the religious establishment.

The monarch dismissed a cleric from a top council of religious scholars in October after he demanded that religious scholars vet the curriculum at a new flagship mixed-gender university.

The kingdom, a major U.S. ally, is ruled by the Al Saud family in alliance with clerics from the strict Wahhabi school of Islam who oversee mosques, the judiciary and vast parts of education, and run a religious police body.

Hamas: Assassinated Operative Put Himself at Risk

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — A Hamas leader assassinated during a visit to Dubai last month exposed himself to attack when he breached security protocol by talking about his trip over the phone and making hotel reservations on the Internet, the militant Islamic group said Saturday.

The methodical stalking and killing of Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in a luxury hotel room — widely blamed on Israel’s Mossad spy agency — has put Hamas on the defensive over purported security lapses.

The new details emerged as the case has spread across several continents with investigators probing possible credit card links to U.S.-based banks and European officials grilling Israeli envoys over fraudulent passports.

Hamas legislator Salah Bardawil said al-Mabhouh unwittingly led his attackers to him by openly planning his travels — a move that would make him easily traceable if he were already under surveillance.

”Al-Mabhouh called his family by phone before he traveled to Dubai and told them of his plan to stay in a specific hotel, and he booked his travel through the Internet. This undoubtedly created a security breach in the movements of al-Mabhouh,” Bardawil told reporters in Gaza.

Al-Mabhouh’s brother, Fayek, denied the phone leak, saying the slain operative didn’t reveal any details regarding his reservations or other travel plans.

”I am the last one who received a call from Mahmoud,” the brother told The Associated Press in an interview. ”He didn’t tell me that he was going to Dubai and he never told any one of the family the details of his work or his movements.”

Israel has declined to confirm or deny Mossad’s involvement, offering only vague statements that deflect the issue amid international pressure over the alleged use of European passports by Israeli agents.

Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon said Saturday there was no evidence that Israel was involved in the killing.

”I don’t predict a crisis with European allies because there is nothing that ties Israel to the assassination,” Danny Ayalon’s office said. ”Britain, France and Germany all share our interests in the fight against global terror, therefore there will be no crisis, instead our relations will continue to deepen.”

Dubai police have blamed Mossad and named 11 suspects who apparently traveled to Dubai on European passports. Two Palestinians also are being held in Dubai on suspicion they helped the assassins.

The assassination also triggered accusations between the rival factions Hamas and Fatah, which have long competed for influence in the Palestinian territories. Gaza’s Hamas rulers and the moderate Fatah party that governs the West Bank traded allegations that members of each group collaborated with the spy agency but both hold Israel responsible for the assassination itself.

Interpol has put the 11 suspects on its top watch list but said those whose identities were stolen should be able to travel as usual though may face more scrutiny.

The alleged killers also used fraudulent passports to open five credit cards accounts through U.S.-based banks, said the official, who has close knowledge of the investigation. The official gave no additional details, and spoke on condition of anonymity in line with standing policy

Israel says al-Mabhouh played a major part in smuggling advanced rockets from Iran to Palestinian militants in Gaza. He was also long wanted by Israel for his role in the 1989 kidnapping and killing of two Israeli soldiers on leave.

Sgt. Avi Sasportas was abducted outside the coastal city of Ashkelon, near the Gaza Strip, and shot to death in 1989. Cpl. Ilan Saadon was abducted the same year while hitchhiking just north of Gaza. His body was found in 1996 buried under a coastal road south of Tel Aviv.

At least seven of the 11 suspected assassins identified by Dubai police share names with Israelis who also carry European citizenship. But most of the identities appear to be stolen and the Israelis claim they are victims of identity theft.
