Pakistan: 2011-12 critical years

For Shoah

Dance of the Devils

U.S. intelligence has evidence that Israel has re-sold some of its stolen plutonium material to India in return for that nation providingIsrael with missile systems and related technology.

By Brig Asif Haroon Raja

In its bid to emasculate nuclearPakistan, US-Israeli-Indian nexus embarked upon a comprehensive not so covert war backed by coercive diplomacy and aggressive media war after capturing Afghanistan. Pak Army was pitched against foreign funded, trained and equipped militants with a view to discredit it and weaken its fighting potential. While Pak Army was made to fight a senseless war on terror without providing it adequate counter terror equipment and finances, India was given sophisticated arms and technology by USA, Israel, western world and Russia to modernize itsarmed forces.

Wayne Madsen in his report, US Nuclear Weapons Unaccountable published in Opinion Maker says , U.S. intelligence has evidence that Israel has re-sold some of its stolen plutonium material to India in return for that nation providing Israel with missile systems and related technology. Likewise, Indian nuclear capability was bolstered by USA through highly controversial nuclear deal, while Pak nuclear program was undermined.  While notorious RAW was embraced by CIA, an effort was made to pulverize ISI by placing it under the US-UK choice man Rahman Malik in August 2008. Mumbai attacks on 26/11 were engineered to get ISI declared as a rogue outfit. Drone war was initiated to fuel extremism and terrorism. Symon Hersh revealed that drone war was aimed at stirring up Pashtuns and pitching them against the Army.

Vicious media war was initiated by the trio to malign Pak institutions and spread gloom and doom. Ignoring Hindu extremism and terrorism, Pakistan was projected as world’s biggest incubator of Jihadist extremism. Ignoring India’s black track record against its neighbors, it was opined that Afghanistan will never see peace and prosperity with a neighbor like Pakistan. They said that the US-NATO will always be threatened by terror plots spawned in Pakistan’s lawless regions. Michael Hughes at the behest of India suggested balkanization of Pakistan to stabilize Afghanistan. Selig Harrison, who supports Baloch separatists, floated the idea of independent Balochistan to foil growing Pak-China relations and to prevent China from making use of Gwadar Port as a military base.

Those wishing to breakup Pakistan into quasi states perceived Balochistan, Sindh and Punjab as independent states and merger of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa-FATA with Afghanistan. Pakistan’s nuclear program was subjected to nasty propaganda campaign so as to prepare grounds for UN intervention, or to steal it, or destroy it through US Special Forces. Pakistan baiters Bruce Riedal, David Albright and Frederick Kagan were goaded by Indian lobbies to launch media assault on Pak nukes. Kagan was the first person who raised the specter of Pak nukes falling into wrong hands. Riedal urged US government to isolate Pakistan and ultimately end its nuclear capability.

In pursuit of its policy to dry up Pakistan’s agricultural lands, India planned to build 40 dams on River Jhelum and Chenab. 4 large and 16 small dams have already become operational, which include Baghliar Dam on River Chenab. India is building world’s third largest Kargil Dam on River Sindh. A water tunnel is now working and taking 45% water of River Sindh. India has decided to make Pakistan a desert and to bring its nation on the knees without firing a single bullet by 2015. Since 2009, India has been slowing down water in three Pakistan specific rivers during crop sowing season and increasing the flow during monsoon.

After inflaming FATA, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, efforts were made to make Punjab restive. Series of group attacks on the pattern of Mumbai attacks were launched in Lahore. Temperature of Karachi and Balochistan has been kept on the boil through target killings, kidnappings, strikes and criminal activities.

Successful military operations in Swat, Bajaur and South Waziristan in 2009 brought some respite and put a stopper on yapping tongues of foreign and local propagandists that extremist forces were on the verge of capturing Islamabad and nukes. Michael O’Hanlon was among them. However, after a brief interval, the US came up with fresh demand of an operation in North Waziristan (NW) on the suspicion that Haqqani network and al-Qaeda had safe havens there. The US is continuing to play the theme of safe havens so as to keep building pressure onPakistan to mount an operation disregarding its political and financial constraints and security concerns on eastern front.

Interestingly, the US made a secret offer to Siraj Haqqani that in case he agreed to sit on negotiating table, his group will be excluded from UN terrorist list and given share in power. The US has also been making desperate efforts to hold talks with Mullah Omar led Shura. It will be recalled that Mullah Baradar had been cultivated by CIA and Wali Karzai and he and some of his colleagues had agreed to form part of coalition government which would be pro-USA and India and anti-Pakistan. He was sent to Quetta to win over Shura members and convince them to attend Loya Jirga of Hamid Karzai in Kabul, but was nabbed in Karachi by ISI and he spilled the beans. Ironically, Pakistan is the only country which is forbidden to talk to any faction of Taliban.

Knowing that India is Pakistan’s arch rival and even after truncating it in 1971, it had never missed any opportunity to harm Pakistan, the US repeatedly lectured Pakistan that it need not fear India since it was its friend and should unhesitatingly move all its troops from eastern to western border to fight anti-American militants. NW became a sticking point which gave a handle to Pentagon to beat Pakistan with. The old allegation that either it was aligned with Haqqani network or incapable of fighting the militants and hence unqualified to receive military aid was drummed up. Presence of Mullah Omar, his Shura and Dr Al-Zawahiri in Quetta region was also voiced. Pakistan was pressed to allow use of drones in that region to target them.

Political, diplomatic, economic and military pressures were exerted by USA and India to makePakistan toe their line. Finding that Pakistan was reluctant to open another front in NW since earlier fronts were still in fluid form and was also not allowing use of drones in Quetta, the US in frustration intensified drone strikes in Waziristan and continued with the onslaught despite loud protests. In the process, the US trampled Pakistan’s sovereignty and self-esteem. All this time, the US kept its gaze fixed on Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal since it figured high on its agenda.

Symon Hersh forewarned Pakistan in 2009 about the US ill-intentions to steal its nukes under the pretext of safeguarding the arsenal through joint control mechanism. Quest of three strategic partners to denuclearize Pakistan before ISAF’s departure from Afghanistan impelled CIA to set up a vast network in major cities of Pakistan. Blackwater network was also established in allcapital cities of Pakistan to spread lawlessness, insecurity and to gain first hand knowledge of nuclear arsenal. Aid under Kerry-Lugar Bill was designed to expand and solidify CIA and Blackwater networks in Pakistan.

After India failed to apply its military instrument in December 2008/ 2009 since Mumbai drama with too many loopholes backfired, 2011-12 were marked as a critical years to earth Pakistan. However, much to their frustration, Gen Kayani and Lt Gen Pasha are putting up stubborn resistance against the US deceptive overtures and coercive tactics and have categorically stated that national interests will not be compromised under any circumstances. Military balance has not got imbalanced despite employment of 147000 troops in the northwest, while nuclear deterrence couldn’t be devalued through much hyped Cold Start doctrine. Frontier Corps in Balochistan have also kept subversive forces in check. It was therefore decided by the adversaries that in the final destructive phase, the two bottlenecks Army and ISI would be disgraced.

It was in the backdrop of such wicked intentions that double-murderer Raymond David was caught in Lahore. His arrest gave an insight of what was cooking up and what was in store for Pakistan. He was an important pillar of CIA network who was also linked with Mossad and RAW. He was instrumental in subjecting Peshawar to heavy spate of terror attacks in 2008-09. He was coordinating drone attacks in NW in consultation with CIA Station Chief Jonathan Bank in Islamabad and had also assisted in establishing a CIA base in Abbottabad to monitor OBL’s compound. Certain locals including a doctor were co-opted.  He had also finalized plans for conducting a terrorist attack on one of the nuclear sites.

Since he held too many secrets, his early recovery had become vital for Washington. After Pakistan refused to release Davis on the premise that he was a diplomat, US Navy Seals based in Afghanistan were tasked to recover Davis through a sting operation in Kot Lakhpat Jail. Head of US Consulate in Lahore and Ambassador Munter had furnished sketch of jail premises and intimate details of internal and external security arrangements to US authorities in Afghanistan. Additional details were recorded from satellite imagery system. He was confined in 18-room building meant for most dangerous terrorists, and not only all other rooms were vacant, his room was on the farthest end close to outer boundary wall across which there were unmanned paddy fields.

Fearing that he may not be killed by a policeman on duty as in the case of Governor Punjab Salman Taseer, the police guard inside the jail had no weapons. It was an ideal situation for a helicopter rescue operation. A small contingent of Punjab Rangers deployed for external protection took extraordinary precautionary measures against all possible eventualities. Their round the clock alertness and placement of 12.7 and 14.7 mm guns on top of adjacent buildings with express orders to shoot down any landing helicopter on rooftop of building in which Davis was located thwarted option of sting operation. Perforce John Kerry had to offer blood money for release of Davis and accepted ISI’s conditions.

Seven week detention of Davis had given nightmares to the US leaders. CIA swore and vowed to teach Pakistan a lesson after his release. It was in the backdrop of this episode that soon after his release in March, CIA accelerated the rate of drone attacks in NW to an all-time high and also planned a false flag operation ‘Get Geronimo’ solely to defame the Army and ISI and put the two institutions on the back foot during the conduct of its final phase. After stabbing Pak Army and ISI in the back, attack on Mehran Naval Base was another deadly blow to dilute the confidence of people in armed forces.

Paid media persons were geared up to match the onslaught of foreign media with a view to denigrate image of armed forces and spoil civil-military relations. Karachi, the economic hub was made chaotic through reckless spree of target killings and conditions were ripened for the Army to step in to restore law and order so that part of 5 Corps also gets fixed. Sindh Rangers equipped with police powers are however doing a fine job to restore normality.

After 2 May episode, Pak-US relations are sliding downhill and not recovering despite some efforts. The US posture continues to be bossy and threatening. Joe Biden has recently hypocritically stated that Pakistan is an unreliable partner, whereas there is no denying the fact that it is USA which is untrustworthy and unreliable and has a long history of betrayals. The US is still mourning the loss of 3000 Americans on 9/11 and its anger has yet not subsided despite the fact that experts in USA have given their expert opinion that 9/11 was an in-house drama. The US fails to realize that Pakistan has gone through so many 9/11s in the last ten years and has suffered 35000 fatalities and injuries to tens of thousands apart from immeasurable social trauma and $ 68 billion economic loss.

The US military is suffering from acute anxiety since it has neither been able to defeat Taliban in Afghanistan, nor made them agree to negotiate a political settlement, or has devised a strategy to exit safely and honorably. While it doesn’t know how to deal with its principle foe, it takes out its anger on Pakistan. Already licking the wounds of shooting down of US helicopter by Taliban in which 23 Navy SEALs soldiers died who had taken part in Abbottabad operation, fretful Panetta and undiplomatic Cameron Munter have used harsh words against Pakistan in reaction to attack on US Embassy and NATO HQ in Kabul by Taliban fighters who held the elite forces at bay for 20 hours on 13-14 September. The US alleges that three to six fighters of Pakistan backed Haqqani network walked 200 miles from NW unseen, entered fortress of Kabul undetected and then attacked the most fortified positions and some got away. Instead of scolding the intelligence and security forces for their shameful performance, the US has again chosen the convenient scapegoat to give vent to its frustration. This nutty reaction is uncalled for and is condemnable.

Death of chairman peace committee Burhanuddin Rabbani at the hands of suicide bomber in Kabul on 20 September has given another blow to peace efforts initiated by USA and Karzai regime. It may further intensify Pashtun and non-Pashtun antagonism in Afghanistan. It is providing yet another excuse to USA to point fingers at Pakistan. Adm Mike Mullen has now openly accused that Pakistan is exporting violence and warned of possible US action to protect American troops.

While the US maybe interested in defeating terrorism so that it could rob the natural resources of the region without any fear of reprisal, Pakistan is concerned about its survival since its very integrity is at stake. Many in India, Europe and USA have written off Pakistan as a failed state. This can be gauged from the large number of articles attached with truncated map of Pakistan written by leading strategists and notables who wished obliteration of Pakistan from the map of the world. However, notwithstanding their wishful dreams and David Kilcullen’s prediction in April 2009 that Pakistan would collapse within six months, which made Hindu Brahmans ecstatic, Pakistan is miraculously surviving and its armed forces are as strong and resilient as ever before.

Notwithstanding that the US has not been able to achieve its core objectives of denuclearization, secularization and balkanization of Pakistan, however, till such time the US-NATO forces are present in Afghanistan, Pakistan will be under constant danger. Coming winters and early 2012 could be a vulnerable period. Western border is being gradually heated up as is seen from several cross border attacks. Such attacks may increase in coming months. Frequency of incidents of unprovoked firings by Indian troops in Kashmir along the LoC and Sialkot sector may be intensified. I have a hunch that in November-December, another drama like 26/11 may be enacted to justify troop mobilization. The best way to thwart evil designs of our adversaries is to set aside our internal differences and put up a unified defence. We should abide by the old saying ‘united we stand, divided we fall’

Mr Obama; Anything but MORALITY!

By Jawad Raza Khan

For Shoah

A preacher had a teenage son, who was unsure of what to do in life. One day, preacher placed Bible; silver dollar; bottle of whisky and a Playboy magazine on his table. Thinking, If child picks Bible, would be a blessing; if the dollar, he ‘ll be a businessman; the bottle, ! What a shame? Worst of all, magazine “Oh lord! How I will face the world?. When the boy was in room, he picked and placed the Bible under his arm, slipped silver dollar into pocket, gulped half the bottle, and gazed the magazine… father proudly whispered, ” Wow, I am father of the future US President”, because all you need is “ Anything but Morality”.

Oh who would give us the truth?

On 20th September 2011, the most powerful man on planet addressed the world community in 42nd session of General Assembly. The address of Mr. Barack Hussein Obama completely represented the whispering pride of the preacher; just to recapitulate following were the acmes of the address.

I am in favour of creation of Palestinian state, but it cannot be created through UN resolution ; May I draw the attention of Mr President Barack Hussein Obama on creation of East Timor through UN resolution, but yes! It required American support, which was not there till mid-90s as Americans were the biggest Arms suppliers to the Suharto government for Indonesian invasion expressed by UN General Assembly. US arms provisions to Indonesia between 1975 and 1995 amounted to approximately $1.1 billion; and this all was carried out in the backdrop of Cold War. After 1991, a grassroots movement was motorized a bipartisan effort in Congress to reverse US government’s cynical course.

On November 12, 1991 in Dili, at the Santa Cruz Cemetery, Indonesian troops armed with American-made M-16 rifles gunned down more than 270 Timorese civilians. Since then, Congress has begun to shift the direction of US policy. After the massacre, 52 Senators wrote to President Bush, calling for active US support for the implementation of the UN resolutions on East Timor “with an eye toward a political solution that might end the needless suffering in East Timor and bring about true self-determination for the territory.” It was the first of a series of bipartisan House and Senate letters affirming support for East Timor’s self-determination.

There were more than 100,000 causalities in East Timor through American weapons which were realized after the end of Cold War by US, and within 10 years an historic UN resolution was passed for the referendum in 1999 and East Timor was declared as an independent State. On the other hand more than 300,000 people have been killed in Kashmir and Palestine (again courtesy US weapons and a meaningful nod to India and Israel) has not been able to impress either UN or US for immediate intervention like in East Timor. Even the recent case of huge mass graves found in Indian held Kashmir could not draw the attention of the world leaders and just nothing was deliberated by US president or Secretary of UN on this fearful subject of human genocide.

Philosophy of change through terror is dead with OBL . Sir, the people all around the world have not forgotten; the Hollywood style expression of your predecessor, before invading Iraq, the strategy of Shock and Awe that too, on the pretext of sheer lie (Weapons of Mass Destruction); Thousands of Iraqis were killed “but you got the change” and mind you sir it was through terror and a BIG LIE; At least 919,967 people have been killed in Afghanistan and Iraq since the U.S. and coalition forces have invaded these sovereign countries, (based on lowest credible estimates); your created phantom of OBL who has been killed, God knows when and where, still not evidenced but the philosophy you have mentioned cannot not die with your living intent of US hegemony over the globe.

World should be cleaned from nuclear arsenals. “Within the first two to four months of the bombings, the acute effects killed 90,000–166,000 people in Hiroshima and 60,000–80,000 in Nagasaki”. Just to give a gentle reminder that in the history of mankind the nuclear bombs are only used by US against humanity. In addition to this, strategic partner of US in this volatile region of subcontinent “India”in a joint study group headed by Richard N. Haass President Council on Foreign Relations and Tarun Das Founding Trustee Aspen Institute India, have formulated yet another hypothesis on the basis of their self-createdassumption (may be an aspiring delusion).

It goes like that “The United States and India should begin classified exchanges on multiplePakistan contingencies, including the collapse of the Pakistan state and the specter of thePakistan military losing control of its nuclear arsenal”. I am speechless, as to why this combination of hypocrites are interested to take over Pakistan’s nuclear arsenals, when, Mr. President wants this world to be cleaned from this evil. They should have started the cleaning process from their home by now.

The world community must stop Iran’s and Korea’s nuclear program. Before commenting on North Korea and Iran please tell your staff to furnish you the list of nuclear whistle blowers, and surprisingly most of them are either US nationals or from Israeli origin. Yes! Americans can call or label them as politically transpired men, but what about “Mordechai Vanunu” who has been characterized internationally as a nuclear whistleblower and by Israel as a traitor. Daniel Ellsberg who was a former United States military analyst, referred to him as “the preeminent hero of the nuclear era”. In 2010, the British artist Richard Hamilton completed a painting based on the famous press photograph of Vanunu in transit after his kidnapping, with the information concerning his capture in Rome scrawled on his hand for the press outside.

As President of US, it’s time to realize to that the adventure of free society vowing for freedom of expression is now in a position of toiling the administration that is supporting it for more than two centuries. This living world is now extremely impulsive and has an enormous capability to differentiate between a liar and a hypocrite, indeed the former is lesser evil then the latter

Quantum Note: The Roots of Muslim Rage-I

For Shoah

By Dr. Muzaffar Iqbal

The Muslim world is soaking in blood: from Yemen to Afghanistan, there is hardly a country where violence, oppression, inequality, man-made disasters and meaningless deaths are not the order of the day. Dreadful, draconian, and brutal regimes dominate the political scene. There is hardly a country where one can breathe freely. Economic poverty, hunger, disease, lack of adequate civic structures, malnutrition, illiteracy, and belittling social structures exist everywhere. Ruthless men rule hapless polities with iron fists. These discredited and despised rulers pay no attention to human suffering; all that matters to them is the prolonging of their rule, which gives them unlimited perks and allow them kingly lives. There is no concern for what is called human rights in the West, what to talk about the higher level of concern a ruler is supposed to have for his people in Islamic legal, moral and ethical system. All of this is common knowledge. But when one asks, “why”, common as well as uncommon knowledge dissolves in thin air, leaving behind speculations, conjunctures, short-sighted answers, which mean nothing in reality.

To be sure, it is difficult to find answers for this complex situation, but to dissolve the question with meaningless answers is to rub salt on open wounds. Thus, those who provide us the following answers should all be thrown out of the window: It is the curse of extremism; this is all due to Americans; no, it is the Taliban; it is because of al-Qaeda, and all variations thereof, to ad nauseam.

Muslim world is immersed in a sea of blood and violence; let us ask anew: “why?” and begin with some sound process of analysis which can at least give us an inkling of the greater forces at work which have produced this vast change in lands which were sleepy, silent, non-violent and almost medieval cities and towns just a few decades ago, where rural areas were certainly living in pre-modern times, with no electricity, no running water, no gas, what to talk of telephone and the internet.

A reasonable starting point is the decade after World War II. This decade witnessed the greatest reconfiguration of the political map of the Muslim world since the end of the sixteenth century, if not since the end of the Abbasid rule in 1258. This reconfiguration of the Muslim world emerged when it gained a certain degree of political independence from the European powers. The European powers, mostly France and Britain, but to a lesser extent Italy, Portugal, and the Netherlands, had ruled various parts of the Muslim world over a century, in certain cases for two hundred years, directly and indirectly. Prior to the era of colonization, the Muslim world was largely made up of three powerful empires: the Ottomans, the Safavid and the Mughal, although there were certain independent areas outside these vast empires.

For most Muslims, the European dominance and the consequent colonization of the Muslim world was not a violent experience, although crimes committed by them certainly belong to the darkest side of human existence, yet the fact remains that most Muslims had little to do with them; they were silent spectators of what was happening in certain areas of the vast region where they lived. This was also due to the fact that most Muslims then lived private lives in which state had very little direct role. The greatest proof of this independence of the individual existence is the fact that their lives were not recorded in any state register; there were no national identity cards, no social insurance numbers, no data of births and deaths beyond the local level.

This independence was severely curtailed by the new state structures implanted by the European rulers. These new state institutions started to count human beings, record their existence in state registers, which also noted what they did to earn their living. All of this contributed to the arrival of “European modernity” in Muslim lands which were increasingly shackled in an international economic and political system dominated by the Western global agenda. While this was taking place, a small percentage of people from the colonial lands started to become alarmed about the state of their people. They received European education, learned modern politics from their colonizers and—driven by necessity, self-propagation, ambition, concern for their people, and various other forces—they initiated “independence movements” which, in turn, produced the greatest reconfiguration of the Muslim world in modern times.

All of this happened so quickly that the bulk of Muslim population had had little time to adjust to the new realities. All that they witnessed was a sea-change in their ways of living. Most of them lived in villages where farm machines started to arrive around 1960s, then electricity and roads came and finally a slew of new technological gadgets ushered them into modernity; now they are connected via the ubiquitous cellular phone. One recalls the time when many Muslim governments were taking pride in announcing the arrival of electricity in villages. Ministers would go and inaugurate such arrival by turning on a light bulb; light bulb, not light itself, was the most powerful metaphor of the time to indicate progress and development. But there was nothing behind this stunt, because the production of electricity was not matched by the huge investmentin its supply. The result was a disaster and nightmare from which a very few Muslim countries are able to wake up.

Likewise, life in the cities was drastically transformed by the mid-1980s. Instead of sleepy and drowsy towns of a couple of million people being the largest city of the country, huge metropolises emerged all over the Muslim lands along with unbearable traffic jams; millions of cars were just dumped on the roads, turning them into huge parking lots. Those who allowed this to happen, had no idea what they were doing by importing or manufacturing cars which had no place to go. As if this was not enough, the oil-boom of the 1970s, the huge increase in city-dwellers, and most of all, the curse of constant Western intervention in the making of new polities contributed to the emergence of the Muslim world in which we now live.

Rick Perry Travel Bankrolled by Activist Rabbi Irwin Katsof

Rick Perry is talking up his travels to Israel on the stump — a line that’s likely music to the ears of an activist rabbi who made the governor’s last two trips happen.

The rabbi, Irwin Katsof, has spent years recruiting American officials to participate in lavish trips meant to strengthen U.S.-Israel economic and political ties. Perry’s travel was bankrolled by Katsoff’s investment firm, initially called Global Capital Associates, then Doheny Global Group.

In the run-up to a 2007 trip, Katsof’s firm advertised the jaunt as a networking event with world leaders. For $18,500 — airfare not included— participants could accompany Perry and his fellow travelers, former Bush administration cabinet officers John Ashcroft, John Snow and Gale Norton.

Katsof, who also founded a non-profit group called Honest Reporting that monitors the media for alleged anti-Israeli bias, first agreed to speak with POLITICO, but later declined to answer questions and hung up on a reporter when asked whether the trips were intended to curry favor with Perry.

The trips, one in 2007 and one in 2009, reportedly included meetings with Israeli business and political leaders like Shimon Peres, Benjamin Netanyahu and Ehud Olmert. Participants took a sunset cruise on the Red Sea and enjoyed a “scotch and cigar bar” where participants would admire “a starry Jerusalem,” according to reports.

Katsof’s companies awarded Perry their “Friend of Zion” and “Defender of Jerusalem” awards during the 2007 and 2009 trips, respectively, in recognition of his efforts to promote the U.S.-Israel alliance.

Perry spokeswoman Catherine Frazier said the 2007 trip spurred the formation of the Texas-Israel Chamber of Commerce and “served as a catalyst to the governor’s support of Texas’ divestment from companies that do business with Iran, a main opponent of Israeli freedom.”

And she pointed out that “a large delegation” from Texas participated along with Perry (who was joined by his wife Anita Perry, their son, Griffin, and Griffin’s then-fiancé), including chancellors of the University of Texas and Texas Tech University, as well as Railroad Commissioner Victor Carillo, state Sen. Juan Hinojosa, executives from multi-national energy companies and Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.).

Perry recently cited the 2009 trip in bashing Obama’s foreign policy, saying during a July Aspen Institute forum: “When we were in Israel in ‘09 and we met with President Perez and Bibi and talked to the leaders of Israel, it is clear that this administration’s lack of focus – or lack of commitment to having a clear foreign policy – has put America in jeopardy.”

Lest We Forget–Jesus’ Condemnation of the “Jewish State” and its leaders

Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: “The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. They tie up heavy loads and put them on men’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.

“Everything they do is done for men to see: They make their phylacteriesa wide and the tassels on their garments long; they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues; they love to be greeted in the marketplaces and to have men call them ‘Rabbi.’

“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.

“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.

“Woe to you, blind guides! You say, ‘If anyone swears by the temple, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.’ You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes the gold sacred? You also say, ‘If anyone swears by the altar, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gift on it, he is bound by his oath.’ You blind men! Which is greater: the gift, or the altar that makes the gift sacred? Therefore, he who swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it. And he who swears by the temple swears by it and by the one who dwells in it. And he who swears by heaven swears by God’s throne and by the one who sits on it.

“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.

“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.

“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men’s bones and everything unclean. In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.

“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous. And you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our forefathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’ So you testify against yourselves that you are the descendants of those who murdered the prophets. Fill up, then, the measure of the sin of your forefathers!

“You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell? Therefore I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town. And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. I tell you the truth, all this will come upon this generation.

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing. Look, your house is left to you desolate. For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’

This is to express thanks to God for His favors, imploring Him to grant success to the Commander President Mahmoud Abbas, President of the State of Palestine, and to guide his steps on the path to realizing the hopes of our people and the return of all our legitimate rights by the establishment of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

The letter is signed by Sheikh Khamis Mahmoud Abada, who is identified as “Assistant Undersecretary for Islamic outreach and guidance.”

In recent years, supported by the United States and Israel, the PA has imposed a strict regime of control on all West Bank mosques. This was supposedly to stop “extremists” – particularly Abbas’ rival and erstwhile coalition partner Hamas – from using the mosques for political purposes.

How ironic then that the supposedly “secular” PA so blatantly uses the mosques to promote a political leader who lacks any democratic legitimacy and accountability and to give hispolicies that enjoy no national consensus a veneer of divine legitimacy instead.

The misuse of mosques in this manner comes on the day when the PA staged a rally in downtown Ramallah in favor of the UN bid, instructing – according to media reports and eyewitnesses – PA employees to take paid time off work in order to attend.

PSC says no place for denial

By Jessica Elgot,

September 22, 2011

The Palestine Solidarity Campaign has amended its statement of purpose expressly to include a denunciation of Holocaust denial.

The statement on the PSC’s website now reads: “Any expression of racism or intolerance, or attempts to deny or minimise the Holocaust have no place in our movement.” Its national organiser, Martial Kurtz, said the move echoed the PSC’s assertion “that ours is an anti-racist campaign.”

The PSC has come under increasing pressure over views held by some members of its branches. Some have been accused of Holocaust denial and promoting Jewish conspiracy narratives.

The move has been welcomed by Jewish anti-Zionists such as Tony Greenstein, who wrote on his blog: “Four years ago, we tried unsuccessfully to persuade PSC AGM to pass a motion dissociating itself from… those at the fringe of the movement who were dabbling in the politics of Holocaust denial.”

Anthony Cooper, who has been researching the background of many local PSC groups, said he had pointed out numerous Holocaust denial websites and videos, linked to by PSC members, and other antisemitic material, which had since been removed.

He said: “A number of the websites appear to have been altered after I posted about them. Part of the site of one branch used to read ‘we must emphasise that PSC, like Arafat, accepts the inevitable presence of the Israelis and that pushing them all in to the Mediterranean is now not an option.’ That has been changed to ‘is not now, nor has it ever been, an option.'”

UK PSC  is now approved by the notorious UK hard core Zionist Jewish Chronicle (JC).

The JC reported today that the UK Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) has “amended its statement of purpose expressly to include a denunciation of Holocaust denial.”

The JC was very happy to report that the statement on the PSC’s website now reads: “Any expression of racism or intolerance, or attempts to deny or minimise the Holocaust have no place in our movement.”

I must admit that I am puzzled by the PSC’s new statement. I still do not know what holocaust denial entails. Can anyone deny a historical chapter?  Can any one deny Napoleonic Wars? Are there WWI deniers around, or Ancient Greece Deniers? I don’t think so. The word ‘denial’ doesn’t belong to the historical discourse. It actually fits into religious and dogmatic narratives.

However, this is certainly the first time I have come across the notion of ‘Holocaust minimizing’. I really can’t imagine what it is. I can think of people who minimize the ‘impact’ or ‘significance’ of an event in the past, but to my knowledge,  holocaust minimizing’ doesn’t make any sense in English.

It seems as if the PSC was reacting in panic to an orchestrated Zionist attack.

And indeed, the JC brings up the details. The “PSC has come under increasing pressure over views held by some members of its branches. Some have been accused of Holocaust denial and promoting Jewish conspiracy narratives.” In other words, the JC basically informs us that the PSC surrendered to Zionist pressure. This shouldn’t take us by a complete surprise. Zionist pressure can be very effective. This week, for instance,  we saw President Obama advocating the Likud mantra to the UN general assembly.

As one would anticipate, the JC was kind enough to report that  “the move has been welcomed by Jewish anti-Zionists such as Tony Greenstein.”

Along the years I have heard Palestinians, Muslims and Arabs complaining that British Solidarity organizations hardly reflects their voice. At least now they know why.

I am not a member of the PSC,  yet, I would like the PSC to be strong and effective. I hope that the PSC find within itself the necessary wisdom to recover from this fiasco. I am sure it will.

PA: Obama will be responsible for failure of peace process

Officials instruct Palestinians to hold anti-Obama demonstrations in the West Bank; PA official jokes: “Obama has obviously joined the Zionist movement.”

US President Barack Obama will be held responsible for the failure of the Middle East peace process, members of the Palestinian Authority delegation to the UN General Assembly meeting in New York charged on Thursday.

The latest allegation came as the PA called for anti-Obama demonstrations in protest against his opposition to the Palestinian statehood bid.

The officials said that relations between the PA and the US were now “at their lowest” because of Obama’s opposition to PA President Mahmoud Abbas’s plan to submit a request for full membership of a Palestinian state to the UN Security Council on Friday.

Chief PLO negotiator Saeb Erekat said that despite the US opposition, Abbas was “determined” to submit the application to the UN on Friday.

Until Obama delivered his speech at the UN on Wednesday, Abbas and his aides were still hoping that the US Administration would change its position regarding the statehood bid.

But Obama’s speech, which some PA officials described as “pro-Israel” and “biased,” came as a shock to Abbas, according to one of his aides.

“President Abbas didn’t expect Obama to fully endorse the policies of the Israeli government,” the aide told The Jerusalem Post. “We can even say that President Abbas was very angry and disappointed by the speech.”

Abbas’s disappointment grew even more when he met late Wednesday with Obama on the sidelines of the UN convention, only to hear once again from the US president, a clear threat to use the veto to foil the statehood bid on Friday.

Following the tense meeting, a PA official joked: “Obama has obviously joined the Zionist movement.”

MK Ahmed Tibi, who is accompanying the PA delegation, condemned Obama’s position as “immoral.” Yasser Abed Rabbo, a senior PLO official, accused the US Administration of applying “double standards” in dealing with the Israeli-Arab conflict.

In response to Obama’s speech, the PA leadership instructed Palestinians in the West Bank to stage demonstrations on Thursday to denounce the US president and his policies.

PA civil servants and school children were ordered to hold rallies and demonstrations “in solidarity with President Abbas and to condemn Obama’s bias in favor of Israel.”

Bassam Abu Sharif, a former advisor to Yasser Arafat, called for a non-violent “intifada” against Obama, who he accused of being supportive of the “Israeli expansionist project in Palestine.”

Tawfik Tirawi, a former PA security commander in the West Bank, said that when he listened to Obama on Wednesday, he thought he was listening to a speech by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

“President Obama has broken all the promises he made in the past,” Tirawi, member of the Fatah Central Committee, charged. “Obama’s policies are in violation of the values and principles for which the US stands – liberty and democracy.”

Fatah spokesman Osama Qawassmeh accused Obama of “forging history” by serving as an advocate for Israel.

Qawassmeh accused Obama of depicting Israel as the victim “in contradiction with moral values and democracy of the American people.”

Syria accuses IsraHell of posing ‘nuclear threat’ to the world

The exchange between the two adversaries at UN nuclear agency underlines deep divisions between Arab states and Israel ahead of rare talks to rid the world of atomic bombs.

Syria accused Israel on Wednesday of posing a threat to the world with its “huge military nuclear arsenal”, a day after Israel criticized Damascus for stonewalling a UN watchdog investigation into its atomic activities.

The exchange between the two adversaries, at an annual member state meeting of the UN nuclear agency, underlined deep divisions between Arab states and Israel ahead of rare talks later this year on efforts to rid the world of atomic bombs.

Israel is widely believed to hold the Middle East’s only nuclear arsenal, drawing frequent Arab and Iranian condemnation.

Israel and the United States see Iran — and to a lesser extent Syria — as the Middle East’s main proliferation threats, accusing Tehran of seeking to develop a nuclear arms capability in secret.

Arab nations have dropped plans to single out Israel over its presumed nuclear weapons at this week’s gathering of International Atomic Energy Agency members, calling this a goodwill gesture in the run-up to the Nov. 21-22 discussions.

But the Syrian and Israeli statements this week highlighted a high level of mistrust ahead of the meeting, hosted by IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano, to debate the experience of regions elsewhere in the world that have banned nuclear arms.

Relations between the two are especially fraught in the nuclear arena. Israel bombed a Syrian desert site in 2007 which U.S. intelligence said was a nascent reactor intended to produce plutonium for nuclear weaponry. Syria denies this.

“In the Middle East there is a unique feature: Israel is the only country which has a military and nuclear arsenal, outside the realm of any international control,” Syrian Ambassador Bassam Al-Sabbagh told the IAEA’s annual General Conference.

For the November talks to be successful, “all participants should be parties to the NPT (Non-Proliferation Treaty) and the agenda of such a meeting should focus on the issue of creating a nuclear weapons-free zone in the Middle East”.

Arab states, Israel and other countries are expected to attend the talks, which are regarded s a way to kick-start a dialogue and help generate some badly needed confidence.

Big power divisions

Addressing the IAEA conference on Tuesday, the head of Israel’s Atomic Energy Commission lashed out at Syria for still refusing UN nuclear inspectors access to all its atomic sites.

Naming also Iran, Shaul Chorev said: “Regimes that brutally repress their own citizens … have no hesitation when it comes to non-compliance with their legally binding obligations under international law.

“The international community has failed to convey a decisive message to such rulers. (They) still consider non-compliance as a low risk. The international community should prove them wrong. Violators should be punished,” said Chorev.

Israel has never confirmed or denied having nuclear weapons under a policy of ambiguity to deter numerically superior foes. It is the only country in the Middle East outside the NPT.

Arab states, backed by Iran, say Israel’s stance poses a threat to regional peace and stability. They want Israel to subject all its nuclear facilities to IAEA monitoring.

Israel says it would only join the pact if there is a comprehensive Middle East peace with its longtime Arab and Iranian adversaries. If it signed the 1970 NPT pact, Israel would have to renounce nuclear weaponry.

In a U.S.-led move, the IAEA’s 35-nation board voted in June to report Syria to the UN Security Council over its refusal to allow agency inspectors to visit the Dair Alzour site. Russia and China opposed the move, betraying big power splits.

Syria has since offered to cooperate on the issue of Dair Alzour and Sabbagh said a meeting with the UN agency had been set for October. Western diplomats have expressed caution about previous such overtures from Damascus.

Al-Sabbagh said Israel’s attack on Dair Alzour had violated international law. “As a consequence of this heinous aggression the military building, which did not have any relation with nuclear activities, was destroyed,” he said.

The IAEA assessed in a recent nuclear safeguards report on Syria that the site was “very likely” to have been a nuclear reactor under construction, before it was leveled.
