UPDATE: Mustafa Barghouti stable after being struck in head at Qalandiya; Palestinian protester reports Barghouti attacked by fellow protesters

Mar 30, 2012

Philip Weiss and Adam Horowitz

Update, 6:30 pm

Earlier today we reported:

Mustafa Barghouti was among 150 Palestinians injured at a Land Day demonstration at Qalandiya checkpoint in occupied Palestine this morning. A leader of the nonviolent movement and former candidate for president, Barghouti said that he was struck in the head by a teargas canister fired by Israeli forces. He spoke from a bed in Ramallah Hospital. He said he was not seriously injured but he is under observation for contusions to his head and back.

“Today is a great day because no one thought we would be able to mobilize thousand of people for nonviolent protest,” said Barghouti, a physician. “This is the peak of the Palestinian nonviolent movement, and it reflects Palestinian unity too.”

An Israeli government claim that Palestinians attacked Barghouti is the “most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Why would any Palestinian attack me? I’m a leader of the Palestinians.”

Since we first published this eyewitnesses at Qalandiya have reported that Barghouti was in fact attacked by fellow Palestinian protesters. Jalal Abukhater described what he saw to theNew York Times‘s Robert Mackey over twitter, and sent us the following account:

As I arrived to Qalandia, first thing I saw was a large crowd of protesters with most carrying Red PFLP flags and orange PNI [Palestinian National Initiative] flags. As I walked down, I saw Mustafa Barghouti being evacuated into an ambulance at the Qalandia field hospital and Fateh guys were attacking PNI people. As Mustafa entered the ambulance, angry crowds continued to attack Mustafa and his group, a fight broke out between both sides. Mustafa was also beaten inside the ambulance. Weapon used in fighting was sticks which held flags. The ambulance which carried Mustafa had its rear glass broken and it rushed away. A while later I saw PNI organizers calling on all PNI people to leave the demo, clashes continued and hundreds remained present at the demo.

Reason behind all this, according to eye witnesses who were there before I was, is that PNI group acted separately and didn’t follow the general plan agreed upon by all groups, and they marched towards the checkpoint rushing during the prayer to beat all other groups and be first there. Also, non of them carried Palestinian flags..all carried PNI flags.

Only flags present were PFLP and PNI in large masses, Palestinian flags were held by individuals and Fateh flags weren’t present in mass.
Tear gas, Metal bullet projectiles, something called “exact impact”, Skunk truck, and the LARD screamer were used intensively by the army to crush the protesters, many were injured. Mustafa, from the hospital, told journalists that the reason of his injury was “two tear gas canisters which hit his head”, a lie. Trying to make a hero of himself after a shameful act he pulled trying to grab all media attention. It was full with disgrace, and his credibility has hit a new low.

The New York Times story includes both Barghouti’s version and the counter claims:

At the Qalandiya checkpoint between the West Bank and Jerusalem, masked youths threw stones at Israeli troops and set tires alight. The troops responded with rubber bullets and tear gas. Mustafa Barghouti, a doctor and Palestinian politician, said one of the teargas canisters hit him, sending him to the hospital.

“I was hit with a teargas bomb on the side of my head and my back,” Dr. Barghouti said in a telephone interview from his hospital bed. “My scalp is injured, my right ear has problems, and they are checking to see if I have any spinal injury.”

The Israeli military spokesman’s office, in a set of Twitter messages and later over the telephone, said Dr. Barghouti had not been hit by an Israeli canister but had been attacked by other Palestinians. A few Palestinian witnesses offered a similar account.

A source with access to Barghouti says Barghouti stands by his version of events. We will continue to follow up on the story.

An Israeli government claim that Palestinians attacked Barghouti is the “most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Why would any Palestinian attack me? I’m a leader of the Palestinians.”

From IDF spokesperson Avital Leibovich— a stupendous effort to misrepresent the truth:

The info I have regarding Mousteffa Bargoutti injured,is that he was hurt by a Pales,as he was trying to convince youth in #Kalandya to riot

I remind you: Barghouti was at the center of the J Street conference last weekend, soberly, eloquently urging American Jews to do all they can to publicize the nonviolent Palestinian movement.

Hugh Naylor responded to IDF:

I was there. He was attacked by plainclothes pple. His colleagues had no idea who they were. He was not calling for riot

Israelis smashed three ambulances and injured eight Palestinian aid workers, Barghouti said.

BDS is endorsed by large Latino/a youth organization at Arizona conference

Mar 30, 2012

Philip Weiss

We received the following press release today from student solidarity groups in Arizona:

March 30, 2012 — At the 19th annual national conference of M.E.Ch.A. (Movímíento Estudíantíl Chícan@ de Aztlán), the largest association of Latin@ youth in the US, chapter leaders voted by a landslide decision to endorse the global call for Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) on Israel, due to its military occupation and settlement of Palestine.

The announcement that M.E.Ch.A. chapter leaders endorsed BDS comes on the coinciding international observances of “César Chávez Day” and “Land Day,” commemorating ongoing civil rights and anti-colonial struggles for Latin@s and Palestinians. The chapter delegations (including some 600 delegates) met in Phoenix, AZ, last weekend, the site of the very first M.E.Ch.A. conference in 1993.

The local Arizona State University M.E.Ch.A. chapter, who hosted the conference this year, was the first to endorse the BDS call prior to the conference. Before M.E.Ch.A. could endorse BDS at a national level, ASU Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) President, Lina Bearat, attended an ASU M.E.Ch.A meeting to discuss BDS and ask for their endorsement. Without that crucial vote of endorsement and support from ASU M.E.Ch.A. prior to the conference, ASU SJP could not have been able to ask for the endorsement of BDS by the national M.E.Ch.A. ASU SJP was also required to hold a workshop on BDS to educate the national members on the issue. Erin McGough, ASU SJP member, had the opportunity to discuss and hold a workshop on BDS at the national M.E.Ch.A. conference. The University of Arizona SJP collaborated with ASU, in all, on three educational workshops on Palestine given at the conference.

“Palestina 101,” a workshop run by ASU SJP Vice President, Aman Aberra, discussed the history and current situation in Palestine, as well as US involvement and complicity in Israel’s crimes and how the attendees could get involved in supporting justice in Palestine. “Conexiones Concretas/Concrete Connections,” run by Gabriel M Schivone of UofA SJP, discussed cross-border analyses — ranging from both walls to cultural attacks on Palestinian/Latin@ ethnic studies by the US and Israel — and provided prospects for cross-movement building between both struggles. Member representatives also distributed “A Plea from a Mexican-Palestinian and Chicano-Jew to National M.E.Ch.A.,” by Yasmine A. Moreno Yatim and Schivone, UofA SJP coordinators, urging the conference to adopt BDS.

Beyond ASU and UofA, some of the schools where M.E.Ch.A.s and Latin@ groups have ongoing cross-movement relationships with SJPs and Palestine solidarity groups include The Evergreen State College, University of New Mexico, Brown University, University of Illinois – Chicago, and UCLA.

The decades-old legacy of M.E.Ch.A. stretches back to the late 1960s US Civil Rights Movement. M.E.Ch.A. has traditionally supported intertwining struggles such as opposing police brutality and the US war on Vietnam.

This year, Land Day marks the 36th anniversary of the massacre by Israeli soldiers killing unarmed Palestinians citizens of Israel whom protested the illegal expropriation of Palestinian land. Like his Palestinian counterparts, Chicano civil rights leader, César Chávez, led boycotts and strikes for the rights of farmworkers — including the “Salad Bowl Strike,” the largest farmworker strike in US history — that inspired waves of social movements in the US.

In July 2005, more than 170 Palestinian civil society organizations created the BDS call, a year after the historic ruling by the United Nation’s International Court of Justice condemning Israel’s illegal apartheid wall and reminding the international community of its obligation to pressure Israel to end its prolonged occupation and illegal settlement of Palestinian lands. Together, these civil societies — from Arizona to Palestine — are working towards one goal of fighting oppression and resisting everyday injustice.

From Gaza to Sakhnin, we are united with Bil’in

Thirty six years ago on March 30th 1976 demonstrations against the confiscation of Palestinian land by the Israeli government spread throughout Palestine.  Six Palestinians were killed, over a hundred wounded, and hundreds more arrested.  Land day was one of the first large mobilizations of Palestinians with 1948 Palestine.  This year, on Land Day, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from all over the world will march towards Jerusalem.  In Beit Hanoun, Land Day came early.  The weekly Tuesday demonstration against the occupation and the no go zone was in honor of Land Day and the six martyrs who gave their lives defending their land thirty six years ago.

We gathered on the road in front of the Beit Hanoun Agricultural College in preparation for the march into the no go zone.  There were about 50 of us, the Beit Hanoun Local Initiative, the International Solidarity Movement, other foreign activists, and Gazan activists from all over Gaza.  Palestinian flags flew high, music played over the megaphone, and we unfurled banners in memory of the martyrs of 1976.  Young men carried olive trees, hoes, shovels and water.  We would plant the trees in the no go zone today.  We marched slowly toward the no go zone.

The no go zone has been overgrown with thistles, for some reason the Israelis have stopped bulldozing the ground so often.  Perhaps they are satisfied that they grounded most signs that people used to live here, that the no go zone used to be a place of thriving orchards, completely to dust under the treads of their tanks of their bulldozers.  We made our way through the thistles using paths cut by our previous demonstrations in the no go zone.  We made our way to the trench the Israelis dug to bisect the no go zone.  The trench is lined with flags from our past demonstrations. Today it is also lined with pictures of Rachel Corrie and Hana Shalabi fromlast week’s demonstration.

Young men set to work with their hoes. They cleared two areas of thistles, dug holes, and planted young olive saplings.  While the trees were being planted the crowd chanted, “From Gaza to Sakhnin we are all united with Bil’in.” Usually, the chant is from “from Gaza to Jenin we are all united with Bil’in”, but this week Sakhnin was honored for its role in the first Land Day.

After the trees were planted we set about our second task for the day, erasing the trench which scars the no go zone.  Young men set to work with hoes and shovels filling it in with dirt.  Israeli soldiers appeared on top the concrete tower from which they usually shoot at us.  This time, they did not shoot, they merely watched.

The young men continued to work at filling in the ditch.  Perhaps the soldiers were afraid of shooting, afraid of inspiring even demonstrations on the 30th. Perhaps they realized that to these demonstrators, freedom is more important than life.  The young men worked steadily. Soon a good part of the trench was filled in.  They shouldered their shovels and hoes and we began to walk back towards Beit Hanoun.  We paused at the edge of the no go zone by some giant concrete blocks painted with Palestinian flags, we ate cookies and drank orange juice.  Today, we went to the no go zone and planted olive trees, God willing, on Land Day we will plant olive trees in Al Quds.

Land Day in posters: a retrospective of the 1980s

Palestinian Land Day posters serve as a monument to the movement they represent. These vibrant graphics weave together images of nature and politics into a tapestry that is a testament to resilience. Like the bloodied kuffieyah print flower that breaks through barbed wire in the 1983 Land Day poster, these depictions promise life beyond barriers.

Below are the Palestinian Land Day posters  from 1980-1989.

Video: Students in Palestine and the US mark Land Day by calling on TIAA-CREF to divest

Mar 30, 2012

Adam Horowitz

A friend at AFSC sent along this video and wrote:

Marking Palestinian “Land Day”, students from Palestine and colleges and universities around the United States have joined the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) and Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) in sending a video message to one of the largest financial services companies in the United States: divest from corporations that profit from the Israeli occupation. A three minute video calls on TIAA-CREF to end its investments in corporations that profit from Israel’s military occupation of the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem. Some of these corporations include Veolia, Hewlett-Packard, and Caterpillar that often provide services or products on US campuses, but also help to entrench the system of inequality and military occupation in Israel and Palestine.

Global March to Jerusalem website blocked in Israel; decoy site directs to hasbara video

Yesterday, a Mondoweiss reader in Haifa sent us the following note:

I just wanted to inform you that all day today, I have not been able to access the official website to the Global March to Jerusalem: link to The link would not connect using either google Chrome or explorer. I was able to access the NA site and google also offered acashed site supposedly from earlier in the day (but very poor).

Also, in googling “Global March to Jerusalem” the first site listed is a news item from “Israel News Agency” with the headline “Iran Sponsored Global March to Jerusalem Launches Website

When you click on the link given on that page for the march’s website —  you are directed to a you tube hasbara video denying Israel as an apartheid state:

The fake website appears to be the work of Joel Leyden, who runs the “Israel News Agency” which “reported” on the website. Leyden has pulled similar stunts before, including these fake sites he set up during the second Freedom Flotilla.

What Park Slope BDS activists were up against: the full force of the Israel lobby

Mar 30, 2012

Alex Kane

Co-op last December (Photo: Stop BDS at
the Park Slope Food Coop)

Advocates for Israel are crowing over their victory this week at the Park Slope Food Co-op, as a measure that would have put the question of boycotting Israeli products to a vote failed, 60-40.

But when you look closely at the forces aligned against the Park Slope Food Co-op Members for BDS, it becomes clear that the pro-BDS forces were outmatched in resources and political clout–which makes the 40% vote garnered that much more impressive. What would the vote have been without the distorting noise that preceded it?

The Jewish Week’s Doug Chandler reports on how the “drive to defeat a proposed boycott of Israeli goods…resembled an election campaign”:

One reason for the size of the crowd was the concerted effort mounted by a number of groups to boost the attendance of pro-Israel members of the co-op, said Poupko, director of Israel and international affairs at the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York.

JCRC worked with rabbis in Brownstone Brooklyn and More Hummus, Please, the co-op faction opposed to BDS, to draw attention to the vote and craft the right message, Poupko said. In essence, she added, the message conveyed the idea “that BDS does nothing to promote peace and that it’s bad for the co-op.”

Toward that end, the ad-hoc coalition of groups distributed flyers, posters, e-mail blasts and postcards with the same design and the same language. Aimed at appealing to a progressive audience, a large part of Brownstone Brooklyn, the material said, “Say yes to a Jewish state. Yes to a Palestinian state. No to BDS…”

In the past few days, JCRC also solicited statements from elected officials in the area denouncing the BDS movement, Poupko said. Among the nine leaders who provided statements are U.S. Reps. Jerrold Nadler and Yvette Clarke, both Democrats who represent parts of Brownstone Brooklyn.

So the loss for BDS advocates becomes a lot more clearer after reading that. They were up against the full force of the Israel lobby in New York, which successfully partnered with Park Slope-area “progressives” to defeat BDS activists.

The JCRC, as I’ve explained here, is an influential organization that has close ties to New York’s ruling establishment. The fact that they successfully solicited statements against BDS from elected officials, probably with little effort, is a demonstration of their influence. Their budget last year was over $3 million, and they are part of the Israel Action Network, the $6 million initiative created at the urging of the Israeli government that aims to combat BDS efforts.

The JCRC wasn’t the only organization that worked with anti-BDS Co-op members to defeat the measure for a referendum on boycotting Israeli products. The Anti-Defamation League and Stand With Us, the right-wing Israeli government-linked group, also played a role in organizing against BDS efforts, according to the Israel Action Network.

It was hardly a fair fight. Sure, pro-BDS members of the Co-op had some prominent backing from the likes of Alice Walker, but that’s hardly enough to combat the full force of the lobby, which successfully persuaded elected officials to come out strongly against the boycott. It’s likely the vote would have been a lot closer had Barbara Mazor, the leader of the Co-op’s anti-BDS “More Hummus, Please” group, not had the help of deep-pocketed and influential organizations.

All of this is to say that the defeat of the BDS measure at Park Slope does not bode well for the Israel lobby. The money and time spent, and connections to elected officials, did not mean an overwhelming victory for those against BDS.

Kiera Feldman makes this point in an excellent piece for The Nation:

Here’s the thing: It doesn’t actually matter if the Coop boycotts Israel or not. Just having the debate is a symbolic victory for the pro-boycott camp. It might once have been safe to assume that in Park Slope, Brooklyn, progressive Jews would side with their more conservative co-religionists on matters pertaining to Israel. No longer.

Back in December, Israeli Minister of Information and Diaspora Yuli Edelstein, a settler who calls the colony of Neve Daniel home, paid the coop a visit. A few rows away from the shelves of settlement-made Sodastream, Edelstein posed for a picture holding a tub of Sabra Humus and a bag of vegan marshmallows (part Israeli-owned and Israeli manufactured, respectively). Edelstein’s visit cemented an inescapable truth: the Park Slope Food Coop had officially become a key site for BDS organizing and opposition, a success in and of itself for the BDS movement. BDS had permeated even Park Slope–“the heart of the Jewish crunchy liberal establishment,” in the tongue-in-cheek words of Jewish Voice for Peace activist Jesse Bacon…

Feldman rightly concludes:

If BDS has no capacity to exert governmental pressure, then why are Israeli officials—those who are invested in protecting the status quo—so afraid that they had to outlaw BDS in Israel last summer? One Israeli diplomat termed BDS “a practical warhead on the tip of an ideological rocket.”

Over the last week, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, City Council speaker (and 2013 mayoral hopeful) Christine Quinn, public advocate Bill de Blasio, Senator Charles Schumer, and a long list of other non-Coop members clamored to pass New York’s Israel loyalty test by denouncing the Coop boycott campaign. If the Coop boycott is now at the top of the test, then BDS has really gone mainstream. It didn’t matter which way the vote went Tuesday night, because, as soon as this debate erupted in Park Slope, the boycotters had already won.

GOSH! Talk about your ‘timely’ events…

Israel—right smack dab up to her bushy eyebrows in bad press following YET ANOTHER massacre of gentiles in Gaza, and the next thing you know—like the hand of God coming out of the clouds and giving the various characters in this drama a little ‘nudge’—

…a mini-bloodbath takes place at a Jewish school in France, blamed upon (of course) ‘Islamic terrorism…’

And the ‘GOSH’ just gets ‘GOSHIER’ as details emerge…Seems the perp—one Mohamed Merah—had all sorts of ‘radical affiliations’, but yet somehow managed to make it into Israel—TWICE. This by itself definitely qualifies as ‘GOSHY,’ but what’s more is that he was also under the microscope of both French AND American law enforcement/intelligence services, so much so that his name was added to the infamous ‘verboten fur flugen’ list maintained by DHS, the same agency originally under the kommissariat of one Michael Chertoff, the dual-citizen singularly responsible for helping bust out of jail the infamous ‘5 dancing Israelis’ arrested on the morn’ of 9/11.

And yet, despite all this, a VERY dark-skinned, Middle Eastern-looking Muslim of Algerian descent named Mohammed, known to dabble with (what we are told are) the more ‘radical’ aspects of Islam, nevertheless manages to get his hands on a gun (in Europe, not Texas) and then goes on a killing spree that ends with several Jewish children and a rabbi biting the bullet, no pun or disrespect intended.

Like we said before—how ‘timely’… As far as cameo appearances go, this latest impromptu walk-on by the ever-recurring villain of Islamic terrorism couldn’t have come at a better time.

Nor with better packaging, for that matter. Consider the surrounding scenery for a moment…Here we have a young Muslim man, angry over the manner by which his co-religionists are being slaughtered in places such as Gaza, Iraq and Afghanistan…Those responsible for causing this slaughter to take place–the various policy planners, pundits, politicians, preachers, screechers, etc–all of whom lead very public (and unprotected) lives…

AND YET, rather than go after one (or more) of them, instead our lone gunman shoots a bunch of Jewish kids and their pure-as-the-wind-driven snow shaman.

Honestly, as far as screenplays go, the only one coming close to topping this was the one making a very conspicuous appearance shortly before 9/11 entitled Independence Day, showcasing a nice, unpretentious, nerdy, environmentally-conscious Jewish boy named David who manages singlehandedly to save the entire human race from a bunch of extraterrestrial jihadists.

So, with regards to this latest tragédie Francaise, an awestruck world is forced to ask–How DO they do it??? I mean, it NEVER fails. As soon as she–the Jewish state–finds herself in one of those ‘UH, OH’ moments, a game-changer ‘pops up’ like an unexpected attack of hiccups, resulting in a COMPLETE change-a-roo of scenery, characters and dialogue. Like switching from one channel to another, what was a righteously-outraged world a moment before whilst watching some Judaic version of the ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ then finds itself diverted to some heart-wrenching scene from ‘Schindler’s List’…

Well, what can be concluded, other than the fact that they are God’s chosen people after all…When all’s said and done, what we in the befuddled world are forced to accept is that if He—the almighty Yahweh–was ready, willing & able to pull off a ‘Moses’ (meaning plagues, the parting of the Red Sea, pillars of fire by night and a whole lotta other fancy-shmancy mumbo-jumbo designed to razzle-dazzle a captive audience) then we can suppose with equal ease He’d be ready, willing & able to pull off a ‘Mohammed’ from time to time whenever ‘His people’ find themselves staring into the jaws of death…

The fact is however that (outside of an out-in-the-open admission by the Jewish state) we’ll never really know. We can suspect, of course… In fact, we can even assume, based upon Israel’s historically-documented penchant for creating believable scenes of politically-propitious terrorism in the same way Spielberg makes a lot of nonsense on the silver screen look like reality, but the truth is, we’ll never really know…

And as crazy as it sounds, the truth is that in this case we don’t really need to know the details of who Mohammed Merah was meeting with before the mini-massacre and what they were talking about. What we DO know beyond the shadow of any doubt is that ‘Islamic terrorism’ is not some naturally-occuring, stand-alone item. It is merely a by-product of Judaic terrorism and it’s twin sister, Jewish ritual murder, and therefore were there no massacres in places such as Gaza, Lebanon, Iraq, etc, there would be no occasions of Islamic blowback in places such as Toulouse.

But even this is secondary to the REAL story, because as dramatic as the events in Toulouse were (and by that we mean ‘Jramatic’) the most important sub-plot of the entire spectacle was what happened—as most climaxes do—towards the end.

In the immediate aftermath of the events in France, as people are searching for the right things to say that hopefully sound profound and meaningful, EU minister Catherine Ashton uttered the unutterable as far as Jewish interests were (are) concerned. Commenting on the deaths in Toulouse but then underscoring the fact that what just happened is anything but an aberration in today’s violence-soaked world, she lamented the plight of—not just the Jewish children who lost their lives, but as well–children all over the world killed ‘in all sorts of terrible circumstances…’ She specifically mentioned those murdered last year in Norway by the pro-Israel Islamophobe Anders Breivik and then ended by mentioning the children killed in Gaza by the IDF on a regular basis.

Now, were this ANY OTHER situation involving ANY OTHER group of kids besides those with dual French/Israeli citizenship, something like this—Ashton’s comments–would be perfectly apropos…

But, the fact that there WERE Jewish kids involved puts the whole game in a completely different ballpark and with completely different rules, something that the world learned tout suite in the well-organized screeching campaign that followed.

As with most things involving them when they know mic is on and the cameras are rolling, the Jewish reaction to Ashton’s comments was perfectly apocalyptic in its apoplexy. Employing all the same theatricism their cousins in Hollywood utilize whenever they want to get a certain point across, it was replete with all the typical shrieking, screeching, wailing, face-clawing, gnashing of teeth and rending of robes that accompanies any protest on the part of organized Jewish interests.

First on stage was Israel’s Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman (poster child for mental health awareness month) and who (incredibly) wound up the saner of the various characters on-stage. Speaking officially on behalf of the Jewish state, there was very little airborne saliva or bile on his part, (again, very atypical) as Lieberman limited his comments to a brief condemnation of Ashton’s remarks, but adding that there could be ‘no comparison’ between the massacre of 3 Jewish kids in Toulouse and the massacre of thousands of non-Jewish kids in Gaza. He did slip briefly back into his usual type-cast role however by reminding the world that ‘Israel is the most moral country in the world’and does everything in her power to avoid killing ‘innocent’ civilians.

Others were not as non-salivic as Liebermann in their comments. Oliver Worth, British chairman of the World Union of Jewish Students was a tad more theatric in his theatricism, characterizing Ashton’s comments as ‘outrageous and revolting’ and then reverted to the typically-Jewish shtick (seen all too often whenever someone speaks his or her mind dans une manière désagréable with Jewish sensibilities) by calling for her to be added to the roster of those looking for new employment, since as an EU minister she had ‘lost all credibility’.

Other commentary from le monde Juif concerning Ashton’s remarks were as follows—

“Baroness Ashton’s remarks were crass and inappropriate” so says John Mann, chair of the All-party Parliamentary Group Against Anti-Semitism. “The loss of young, innocent lives anywhere is of course appalling, but the attempt to draw parallels between Toulouse and Gaza was deeply, offensive and unworthy of a person in her position…

Stefan Kerner, director of public affairs for the Zionist Federation pontificated (rabbinated?) that there is absolutely ‘no equivalence between the situation in Gaza and the cold and callous murder of Rabbi Jonathan Sandler and the three children, and for a person in Ashton’s position to even consider her comments appropriate is disgraceful. She should withdraw her statement immediately and apologize unreservedly for the offence that she has caused.’

And then, there was Livni, a (only in some respects) ‘Lieberman-lite’ and a bona fide, genuine, died-in-the-wool war criminal who described Ashton’s comments as “reprehensible, infuriating, and wrong”in drawing ‘any link between the murder of children in Toulouse and the situation in Gaza’.

Now, as already established with the crushing weight of thousands of years’ history, when it comes to the Jewish state and her supporters, theatricism and all its trappings are always the rule and never the exception and for the simple rule that—just as her spy/disinformation service Mossad preaches–when making war, doest thou by deception…

Therefore those of us living in the Hotel Reality and who have gotten wise to the ways of our non-Gentile counterparts will (with good reason) assume that the aforelisted commentary coming out of Mundus Judaicus is but more of the typical carnival barking the world has come to expect with the self-appointed chosenites.

And clearly, there is good reason to assume this. However, that is not to say all this drama does not spring forth from some deep reservoir of genuine feelings on their part. The best performances come from actors with some real emotional connection to the theme at hand, and this latest protest over the manner by which Jewish children are forced to share the limelight with those killed in Gaza, we KNOW that there is a particular electrical current these various screechers have tapped into for the energy of their protests.

After all, are we to assume that the various aforementioned characters DON’T believe that what took place in Toulouse was a hundred times worse than its counterpart in Gaza? Or a thousand times? Or ten thousand times?

Or even a MILLION times, for that matter?

OF COURSE they do…In fact, the proper mathematic equation in computing and measuring the inequality of life-value between the Jew and the non-Jew has already been discovered, tested and revealed by one of the Jewish state’s greatest spiritual mathematicians, Rabbi Yaakov Perrin, who stated without blushing that–

‘One million Arabs is not worth one Jewish fingernail…’

For those gear-heads more accustomed to number equations than words, we’ll make it more pleasing to the eye—

1,000,000 Arabs < 1 Jewish fingernail,

or inversely—

1 Jewish fingernail > 1,000,000 Arabs

Nota bene—‘Arabs’ is just word-play here, as what Perrin REALLY means is ‘Gentiles’ of any racial variety. Note as well that Perrin’s mathematical statement is not ‘an eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth’ as the original Jewish book of hate—meaning the Torah–teaches. No, this is 2012 and we are waaaay past the child’s play of the ‘older, kinder, and gentler’ Judaism preached-n-practiced by Moses, Joshua, Solomon, David, et al…

Rather, this is the NEW Jewish math, where the original anti-Gentile number-play spawned in books such as Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Deuteronomy, Numbers et al—over the course of thousands of years and through the mad genius of rabbinical logic—has been distilled, purified, enriched and made into a spiritual/political cocktail as deadly and as radioactive as a lump of uranium 235.

And lest some think that Professor Perrin was just some lone theorist, keep in mind he is joined by an entire faculty of others who agree wholeheartedly with him. Teaching in the biology department down the hall is the infamous Rabbi Yitzhak Ginsburg who once quipped ‘Jewish blood and a goy’s (gentile’s) blood are not the same, since the blood of the Jewish people is loved by the Lord and is therefore redder and their life more preferable.’ Upstairs, we find the classroom of Rabbi Ovadiah Yusuf and his recent zoological comparison of Gentiles to donkeys whose only purpose in life was to ‘serve the Jews’. Downstairs in the entomology department we have various other ‘learned elders of Zion’ who refer to non-Jews as ‘cockroaches’ and ‘grasshoppers’.

But make no mistake about it—no matter what the discipline, the math is always the same—

1 Jewish fingernail…

And of course the best proof that these various theorems are indeed embraced as gospel truth (not only by the greater part of the faculty but as well the Judaic student body) lies in considering the manner by which these theorems are applied on a DAILY basis in the various math tests and exercises carried out by the IDF, a VERY short list of which includes

–Deir Yassin,

–Sabra & Shatila,

–the 2006 bombardment of Lebanon,

–the murderous assault on the Mavi Marmara,

–Operation Cast Lead, where thousands of Gentiles—not worth a Jewish fingernail—were erased as if mere number scribblings on paper.

So the notion that the recent ‘Jrama’ resulting from Catherine Ashton’s ‘all children are created equal’remarks is a case of  ‘all show and no go’ is belied by using the simple Judaic math given to us by Israel’s most impeccable source—meaning the various doctors, professors and scribes themselves.

Realize this as well—the mini-series of screeching and kvetching broadcast in the immediate aftermath of Ashton’s comments was but a tiny, mirrored-reflection of the greater problems the world faces now on a daily basis.

Indeed, the ENTIRE conundrum in which the world finds itself (global war on behalf of Jewish interests) and which is responsible for Toulouse and the accompanying aftermath of Jewish theatricism can be rightly traced back to the same perverse system of thousands-of-years-old math that began with one lone soul wandering in the desert hearing voices in his head saying ‘I will bless those who bless thee and curse those who curse thee…’ Like an inferno that began as a mere spark, this primal, Neanderthal-level narcissism has been THE starting point that has brought civilization to the brink of extinction, and absent that, a hell of a lot of misery for those finding themselves on the wrong side of the number line.

In the meantime, as long as this backwards, regressive system of spiritual computation–developed and espoused by the various professors holding tenure in the Judaic Studies department–remains the dominating force driving politics, finance, media, religion, culture and military adventurism, the West might as well get used to events such as Toulouse. As long as Gentiles—Arab or whoever—continue to allow their lives to be reduced to a +/- equation favoring Jewish interests and to be victimized by a mathematized system of racial supremacism where Jewish life is infinitely more valuable than that of non-Jews and with its accompanying actions, those who do not embrace this type of math—the Mohammed Merahs and all their accompanying organizations and groups will strike out against those who do.

Perhaps the solution to this problem then actually lies in embracing this ‘wisdom’ of these learned elders of Zion and the math formulae they have constructed. Perhaps, as they allege, millions of Gentile lives are indeed not of equal value to ‘one Jewish fingernail,’ but rather, the other way around…

Therefore, let the 6 billion non-Jews on earth making up what we might call the Moral Majority see themselves and their lives as being of infinitely more worth than a few claws on the hands of some Zionist vampire.  Let them forcibly remove these claws from their collective neck and in the process consign these backwards Transylvanian mathematicians and their followers to a dark, secluded place where they have no decision-making power over who lives and who dies.

To do any less is to perpetuate the world as it exists now—millions of Gentile lives destroyed while at the same time, those responsible for all this death and destruction are found luxuriating in the various salons and beauty parlors around the world…

…getting their nails done.

Zio-Nazi to Release Female Prisoner

Palestinian demonstrators hold pictures of female prisoner Hana Shalabi. (File photo)
Zio-Nazi will release female prisoner Hana Shalabi, weeks after she was re-arrested on February 16 at her West Bank home.

According to a report published by the WAFA Palestinian News Agency, Palestinian officials said on Sunday Shalabi will be sent to the Gaza Strip after her release.  The female Palestinian detainee comes from the city of Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank.

Shalabi has reportedly been on a hunger strike since February 16, when she was re-arrested.  The 29-year-old female Palestinian prisoner has been under “administrative detention.”

On March 29, Shalabi agreed to end her hunger strike in return for “expulsion to the Gaza Strip for three years,” WAFA said. Shalabi is one of the detainees re-arrested by Zio-Nazi forces over the past few weeks. The detainees were freed from Nazi Camp  in October and December of last year under a deal mediated by Egypt to free 1,027 Palestinian inmates in exchange for zio-Nazi soldier Gilad Shalit.

Effing Dumb Southern Crackers.

Given that my wife and children are Semitic, it is seems the critical thinking abilities of the above thought police is a bit stunted to say the least. So let me help you out a bit by providing the actual meaning of the word Semitic;
Semitic |səˈmitik|
1 relating to or denoting a family of languages that includes Hebrew, Arabic, and Aramaic and certain ancient languages such as Phoenician and Akkadian, constituting the main subgroup of the Afro-Asiatic family.
2 of or relating to the peoples who speak these languages, esp. Hebrew and Arabic.

Your lack of linguistic knowledge or more likely participation in the abuse of language with regard to this word is not surprising, especially as it becomes more obvious that the so-called ‘Palestinian Solidarity’ movement is rife with infiltrators and subversives posing as friends and allies of Palestine. As the saying goes, ‘with friends like these, who needs enemies’.

The truth is that my actions, and my words are those of a person unafraid of the political correctness traps to which you seem to have submitted yourself. You might well call me an “anti-American hate monger” and imply that I paint all Americans with the same brush when I have repeatedly called the United States the “greatest terrorist of the 20th and now 21st centuries.” But I have never seen anybody suggest I be banned from speaking for having stated these words.

But alas, speak the words deemed taboo by the thought police and one becomes unworthy of speaking at all. Think of how incredibly holier than thou and up your own arse it makes you sound when many if not all of you, do not have a Palestinian wife/husband, or Palestinian children, who have likely never been to Palestine, certainly have not risked nearly as much as I have in defending Palestine, say that I am unworthy of speaking about Palestine or any other issue in universities where I can assure you, many people would be happy for me to speak. The arrogance and hypocrisy is quite simply over the top.

To put things in perspective, just over a year ago I was presented the Key to the City of Gaza by the last elected Prime Minister of Palestine, I guess I will have to settle for that instead of your approval.

Also noted is how you have provided a link to my speech, one that purposely edits out the context of what I said. This is either a massive mistake on your part or a deliberate act that exposes your transparent agenda in attempting to marginalise a genuine ally of the people of Palestine. Just in case you have made a mistake, here is a link to my entire speech;

As if my words in the above speech were not clear, let me repeat, I seek the destruction of every government and institution that is actively participating in the destruction of our world. Some being so corrupt and vile that there seems little to no chance in them being reformed, I include the US, British and Israeli governments in this category, along with the United Nations. All of these entities are vile and disgusting and are taking us straight to hell on Earth via World War III.

Let me be clear however, I do not give a free pass to the crimes of all the other corrupt, racist and violent entities and governments out there. I simply recognize the obvious, in terms of total destruction and suffering, the entities I reserve my greatest scorn for, specifically the so-called ‘western civilisation’ I come from, represents the gravest threats we face in this tragic world of ours… we are in truth, barbarians.

As much as you seek to censor me or ban me, all you have really done is expose yourselves and a significant problem facing the Palestinians and everyone else genuinely involved in the struggle for justice. That problem is the false allies of truth and justice, the subversives posing as friends and the dupes to blind to know how much these characters are manipulating them. The direct enemy is plain to see, a more honest enemy, and in this regard I respect this enemy more than the western “liberal” dupe who is either so full of himself, or so corrupt, that he is blind to the traitor to humanity role he plays.

I am a disciple of Malcolm X’s way of thinking, on more than one level. With regard to friends and foes he was astute, he was right. He had no illusions regarding the illusory differences between the Democrats (friends to the black man) and Republicans (racist enemies). “One is the wolf, the other is a fox. No matter what, they’ll both eat you.”

In the 1964 presidential elections, when the US presidential candidates were Lyndon B. Johnson (the “peace” candidate) vs. Barry Goldwater (the “war” candidate), Malcolm X exposed the deceit of this phony distinction.

“The shrewd capitalists, the shrewd imperialists,” he said, “knew that the only way people would run towards the fox (Johnson) would be if you showed them the wolf (Goldwater). So they created a ghastly alternative . . . And at the moment he (Johnson) had troops invading the Congo and
South Vietnam.”

This is my perspective, you, the thought police and false allies of Palestine, which can even include people with Palestinian blood, are the ones attempting to provide cover for the tyrants by prohibiting meaningful deliberation into matters that are of the most critical importance to our world. A stark example of this is the Jewish supremacism that is of dire consequence to our world. This is the taboo subject you are charged with enforcing, and in doing so you take sides with the same racist, supremacist ideologies you claim to oppose. I am proud to be opposed by you, I shall wear your Scarlet Letter as a badge of honour.

I depart by saying that any group of people, whether it is the disciples of Hitler, the Christian Zionists of America or the Jewish supporters of Israel, or the brainwashed false Muslims, I say loud and clear, any group that believes they are “chosen” by God and thus superior to anyone else, is an enemy of all humanity. Combine this sort of supremacist ideology with the power of America and Israel and we have a recipe for the end of the world. The stakes could not be any higher, and you, my poor, poor minions, are on the wrong side of history. You are not the friends of Palestine or justice, you are the guardians of tyranny whether you know it or not.

Ken O’Keefe

Ken O’Keefe tainting campus Palestine activism with his Anti-Semitic rant

Last week, whilst speaking at Middlesex University, Ken O’Keefe launched into what we feel was an undeniably anti-semitic rant. Unfortunately, Middlesex University Free Palestine Society have as yet failed to come out and condemn his remarks, forcing us to publicly condemn O’Keefe’s comments.

Many people, including us, admired Ken O’Keefe’s anti-war, anti-imperialist stance on the war and occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan, and his bravery in the face of Israel’s murderous attack on the Mavi Marmara aid ship to Gaza. However, none of this can excuse the unacceptable nature of his comments last week.

On his recent tour of UK universities, Professor As’ad Abu Khalil (aka the Angry Arab) rightly asserted that “the cause of Palestine is too important, and too precious, to be tainted with anti-semitism.” Professor Abu Khalil is of course correct, however we abhor anti-semitism not only for the damage it could do to Palestine solidarity activism, but because like all forms of racism it is immoral, inhumane, and grotesque. We stand against all forms of racism, including Zionism.

We are proud to be part of the struggle against Zionism, and part of the the ever-growing global civil society movement against the apartheid state of Israel and its inhumane treatment of the Palestinian people. We note that the Palestinian struggle for freedom, equality, and return brings together people of all ages, religions, ethnicity, social backgrounds, ideologies and nationalities, united in their commitment to fighting injustice and racism.

We believe that the student movement here in the UK has become very strong because it reflects and upholds these beliefs and values. We believe this is reflected in the phenomenal success our groups have had in aiding the growth of the BDS movement here in the UK.

It is therefore vitally important that we allow no opportunity for anti-semitism, along with all other forms of racism, to enter our groups or campaigns.

We believe the basis of unity with the Palestinians should be that of;

  • Supporting the three aims of the Palestinian call for BDS; Ending the Occupation of all Arab lands seized in 1967 and dismantling the Apartheid Wall, granting full and equal rights to Palestinian citizens of Israel, and recognizing and facilitating the Right of Return of refugees as enshrined in UN resolution 194.
  • Recognising our responsibility as advocates/representatives of the Palestinian cause and BDS movement on our campuses, and respecting the great sacrifices the Palestinians have made in their resistance: sacrifices we do not have to make.
  • Challenging and combating all forms of racism,in and outwith our campaigning both on campus and in our communities, including anti-semitism and Islamophobia.

In line with these principles, we wish to openly state that Ken O’Keefe is not welcome to speak on our campus. We urge Middlesex University Free Palestine Society to distance themselves from his comments, and condemn them as anti-semitic.

We invite our fellow student Palestine activists to add their societies names to this statement.

Mark Dankof on The Zionist Media Plot and the Treyvon Martin Tragedy

Mark Dankof in Washington, D. C. in November of 2011

Press TV in Tehran contacted me today for a phone interview on the Treyvon Martin case.

In a nutshell, the Treyvon Martin case is a classic manipulation of the American public, and a diversionary tactic par excellence on the part of a Zionist-controlled American Corporate Media for reasons classically obvious only to those in this country who can still think, and exercise dispassionate judgment accordingly.

Irresponsible, racially oriented demagoguery comes to us via electronic barrage from the usual Establishment shills in the African-American community, evidenced by the inflammatory rhetoric and self-serving actions of Jesse Jackson, Maxine Waters, and Chicago Congressman Bobby Rush (D-IL), among others.  Although it has received less media attention, the racist wing of the American Right Populist movement has been equally irresponsible, as evidenced by simian statements and analysis laced with vicious appellations directed at African Americans like “nigger,” “chimps,” and “coons.”  Neither side can claim to know yet what really happened in Florida and all of its nuances and dimensions.  Both sides fail to understand the Real Game in how this terrible situation is being deliberately exploited at the expense of decent people of good will with different shades of skin color.

One thing is not in doubt.  The issues surrounding this tragedy discussed by Pat Buchanan in his essay, It’s All About Race Now,” will not be aired on CNN or MSNBC.

A second thing is not in doubt.  Lost in all of this is the way the false Hegelian dialectic between mutually public racists African American and European American serves as a strategically-designed diversion from the real issues confronting a sick and terminally ill American culture, economic, and political system.  The diversion from real issues of mutual interest to African and European Americans serves only our Zionist Political Masters and the Corporate Media in their employ.  These Masters are pitting the two camps against one another on a racial basis, even as these camps fail to recognize a common plight they share, or the common enemy bent on manipulating and destroying the viability of their respective constituencies when functionally advantageous.  Sun Tzu knew what he was talking about in The Art of War.  One had better learn the identity of his real adversary and the political coalitions necessary to combat him.

Matthias Chang of the Perdana Peace Organization and Mark Dankof in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. November 2011.

Whatever the real, objective truth about what happened in Florida and why, there are some obvious truths on the subject which will not air on MSNBC, CNN, or Fox News tonight.

Truth Number One is this:  The Treyvon Martin shooting, and the fanned public demonstrations that have followed, have blinded both African and European Americans to the most serious and ominous development on the near term horizon.  The United States and Israel are in the process of laying the groundwork to attack Iran and ignite an unjustifiable conflict that may mushroom into a full fledged Third World War on behalf of Benjamin Netanyahu’s dream of an Eretz Yisrael which expands Zionist borders from the Nile River to the Tigris and Euphrates.  The other constituencies served by this planned program of Mass Murder are International Central Bankers and their globalist New World Order economic system of Usury, Fiat Money, and Fractional Reserve Banking, which destroy the lives of African and European Americans equally well; and the rapacious Multi-National Energy Consortiums that desire to carve up the Middle East and Central Asia for themselves, at the expense of indigenous peoples in that part of the world and working Americans of every racial stripe at the local gasoline pump as well.

Even as the Treyvon Martin case saturates the airwaves, why is Corporate American Media concurrently failing to report what Russia Today has, that 2 American aircraft carrier task forces and 2 Marine amphibious assault groups have been deployed in the Persian Gulf region for reasons obvious?  And that a third American aircraft carrier task force is due to join them in another month?  And that thousands of American troops are being deployed to Israel?  Why does the average American of any skin color not know of the utilization of the terrorist Mujahedeen-e-Khalq (MEK/PMOI) by the Israeli Mossad and the Neo-Conservative wing of the American intelligence community for criminal actions in Iran, including the assassination of 5 Iranian nuclear scientists and what the Washington Post terms an “unexplained” 5-fold increase in explosions and bomb blasts in that country in the last two years, especially in Iranian Azerbaijan, Khuzestan province, and Balochistan province?  And why has the cogent analysis of Pepe Escobar  on the American Imperial Wars in Central Asia escaped coverage by Wolf Blitzer and Dana Bash of CNN, and Sean Hannity of Fox?

The Mossad and the Mujahedeen-e-Khalq (MEK/PMOI): The Alliance of Terror Against Iran

Equally ominously, Russia Today is reporting tonight that NBC News deliberately altered the 911 transcript of the conversation between George Zimmerman and his dispatcher, an allegation that if true simply underscores the larger implications of what is happening.  . . .

The Treyvon Martin tragedy is a marvelous diversion from the ultimately compelling issue of the survivability of this planet and who threatens it.  There is a sobering accompanying reality:  The disproportionate number of African Americans, Hispanic Americans, and European Americans from small towns in the United States of under 10,000 in population, who are presently enlisting in the American Armed Forces because of a dearth of economic opportunity due to the deliberate exportation of this country’s manufacturing sector abroad, will all die in equally horrific numbers on behalf of an immoral war prosecuted on behalf of the interests already aforementioned.  And why are Jesse Jackson, Maxine Waters, and Bobby Rush joining American Neo-Conservative Brownshirts like John McCain and Lindsey Graham in failing to put the Zionist monolith under a critical microscope for its real motives and actions?

The late Alabama Governor George Wallace got it right several generations ago:  On the real issues, there “isn’t a dime’s bit of difference between the Democratic and Republican Parties.  . . .

Finally, one might ask why the obvious discrepancy between the demagogic media circus coverage of events in Sanford, Florida, in glaring contrast to relative media indifference to the recent murder of an Islamic Iraqi woman in El Cajon, California.  Her brutal bludgeoning to death at home by assailant or assailants unknown, was accompanied by the leaving of a note by the perpetrator (s) tagging her as a “terrorist,” and as one who should have “gone home where she came from.”  The suicide note is alleged to have contained rhetoric borrowed from recent Zionist and Neo-Conservative political events in southern California drenched in Islamophobia.  Where are Wolf Blitzer and Dana Bash?  Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly?  Abraham Foxman of the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai Brith?  Morris Dees and the Southern Poverty Law Center?  Jesse Jackson, Maxine Waters, and Bobby Rush?

It would seem that the Empire’s “responsibility to protect” (R2P) is most selectively applied, either in North Africa, the Middle East, or within the domestic United States.  Cui bono?

If you haven’t figured it out by now, may God have mercy on your life and soul.

Mass Land Day demonstrations sweep Palestine

Tens of thousands of people participated in Land Day demonstration in East Jerusalem, the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, the Negev and the Galilee, as well as in Jordan and Lebanon. One person was killed, many were injured – several critically – and several were arrested in clashes with the Israeli army and police. Hamas and Fatah also attacked demonstrators.

The village of Budrus was actually one of the quieter places to be today. This small yet ancient village, with lands on both sides of the green line, was one of the first to raise the flag of non-violent resistance to separation fence, and after a long struggle, regained 95 percent of the lands de-facto annexed to Israel by the construction of the barrier. The route of the fence was changed, an award-winning film was made about the local struggle, and many villages were inspired to take the same path of struggle. “Today’s demonstration is actually mainly symbolic,” says local popular committee activist Ayed Morrar. “This is all about resisting the occupation and commemorating Land Day. Even though we were so successful in our struggle, the occupation lives on.”

And so the demonstration started. Right after the Friday noon prayer, some 100 residents and five Israeli activists marched the short distance towards the infamous separation fence. It was a beautiful day, and one could see all the way to Tel Aviv – if one was to look over the fence that still steals 5 percent of the village’s agricultural lands. Once at the barrier, demonstrators started waving flags and chanting slogans about the people’s commitment to their land. From the other side of the fence, soldiers warned villagers to stay away from the fence, and after about five minutes started throwing stun grenades and firing tear gas into the non-violent crowd.

Within seconds, the atmosphere changed: the masses ran back toward the village, while a few youngsters stayed behind, throwing stones at the soldiers. Over the next two hours, the soldiers shot hundreds of tear gas canisters at the youth and the village, used the “skunk” water water cannon and the Long Range Acoustic Device (aka “the scream”). They would cross the fence three times, chasing the youth into the village, filling the narrow streets with the stench of tear gas, and then leave.

Between observing the demonstration-turned-confrontation and dodging tear gas canisters and clouds (not always successfully) – villagers and activists took out their phones to read tweets from all over the land: 100 demonstrators here, a few thousand there, reports of injuries here, Palestinian police assisting the IDF there. Everybody tweeted, retweeted and countertweeted, spreading news from demonstrators, commenting on IDF spokesperson claims, etc.

Summing up varied reports, tweets, news agency sites and messages from activists from different locations, here’s a short run-down of Friday activities against occupation, apartheid and land appropriations:

  • The day started with a small tree-planting activity in Beit Jala. Some 90 farmers and supporters went to the east of the town and planted trees on the planned route of the wall near Al-Walaje. The action ended peacefully.
  • Shortly after that, a mass demonstration took place in Bethlehem. Some 1,000 people marched towards the checkpoint on the way to Jerusalem, where they were confronted by Palestinian police. After succeeding to break police lines, demonstrators reached the wall, and some started throwing stones and Molotov cocktails at the watchtower. Soldiers used tear gas and rubber bullets, causing several severe injuries.
  • Meanwhile in Qalandia, as Mya and Omar reported earlier, a crowd of another thousand people marched towards the checkpoint, and were also met by Palestinian police. Dr. Mustafa Barghouti, head of the Mubadara (Initiative) party, was injured in confrontations that erupted, most likely by either police or activists from rival factions. However, several journalists at the scene mentioned that some 100 demonstrators were hospitalized after being hit by tear gas canisters and rubber-coated bullets. Demonstrators responded with stones and Molotov cocktails. Three international activists were arrested.

NAZI Settlers Attack Internationals Accompanying School Children

Settlers Attack Internationals Accompanying School Children on Shuhada Street

Today at around 1 PM  extremist settler Anat Cohen attacked a Canadian woman accompanying school children, and a few minutes later sent two teenage settlers to throw rocks at the Canadian woman and a Finnish man.  The attack occurred at the bottom of the stairs connecting the Qordaba Girls School with the section of Shuhada street where Palestinians are allowed to walk.

Cohen passed the internationals in her car and stopped to talk to soldiers at the nearby checkpoint.  She then reversed her car, parked next to the internationals and proceeded to shove, kick and scream at the Canadian women while soldiers looked on.  Eventually a soldier came to force the internationals up the stairs, but did nothing to stop Cohen from harassing them.

A few minutes later two children who Cohen had just spoken with ran up a parallel staircase and threw rocks at the  internationals from less than a foot away, hitting the Finnish man in the ear.  Two soldiers watched the second attack, then turned in the opposite direction and refused to intervene.  Cohen then called the police, who demanded the passports of all the internationals present, who detained them for several minutes, and then told them they were not allowed to stand at the bottom or top of the stairs.  When asked why the police were doing nothing about the attacks, a soldier responded that Anat Cohen is “well known to the police” and there was “nothing to be done.”

The staircase that connects Palestinian schools and houses with Shuhada street has been a site of frequent settler attacks, particularly on girls from the nearby Qordaba school who have been stoned by settlers many times on the stairs and the area leading to it.

Internationals have been accompanying children in this area to try and prevent attacks by settlers and harassment from soldiers.
