Lawmakers “put Iranian leaders on notice they must halt all uranium enrichment,” bill’s author Senator Mark Kirk says.

The US Senate unanimously approved on Monday a package of new economic sanctions on Iran’s oil sector just days ahead of a meeting in Baghdad between major world powers and Tehran.

The West suspects Iran is working to build a nuclear bomb and the sanctions are meant to strip Tehran of revenue by shutting down financial deals with Iran’s powerful state oil and tanker enterprises. Iran has said its nuclear program is for civilian purposes.

The House of Representatives passed its version of the bill in December and now the Senate and House must work out their differences in the legislation.

“This bill is another tool that will demonstrate to Iran that the United States is not backing down,” Robert Menendez, the Democratic senator who helped craft the legislation, said on the Senate floor.

“Today the US Senate put Iranian leaders on notice that they must halt all uranium enrichment activities or face another round of economic sanctions from the United States,” said Republican Senator Mark Kirk, a co-author of the bill, in a statement.

New measures against oil industry build on banking sanctions

The new sanctions build on penalties signed into law by US President Barack Obama in December against foreign institutions trading with Iran’s central bank. Those sanctions already have cut deeply into Iran’s oil trade.

The new package would extend sanctions to cover dealings with the National Iranian Oil Co and National Iranian Tanker Co, aiming to close a potential loophole that could have allowed Tehran, the world’s third-largest petroleum exporter, to continue selling some of its oil.

The cumulative impact of US sanctions will be severe, said Suzanne Maloney, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution’s Saban Center for Middle East Policy.

“Right now, both sides are playing a game of chicken – the Iranians want to see how much they can get and how little they can give, whereas Washington and its allies are counting on the looming threat of impending sanctions to elicit more concessions on the part of Tehran,” Maloney said.

But a former CIA analyst for the Near East and Persian Gulf region said the sanctions could be counterproductive ahead of the Baghdad talks on Iran’s nuclear program by making Tehran think that the West is less interested in a deal than in undermining the regime.

“The biggest requirement now for getting an agreement is not to pile on still more sanctions, but instead to persuade the Iranians that if they make concessions the sanctions will be eased,” said Paul Pillar, now a security studies professor at Georgetown University.

The Senate bill was brought up on Thursday but was blocked by Republicans who wanted some parts toughened up. Senator John McCain said the revised bill shows “we need a comprehensive policy” to include economic sanctions, diplomacy, military planning capabilities and options.

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said the revisions show Iran “that all options are on the table, in order to prevent any contrary perception that silence on the use of force would have created.”
The bill also includes language from Senator Rand Paul that it does not authorize force against Iran, a Paul spokeswoman said.

Police suspect organ-harvesting network operated mainly in Kosovo, Azerbaijan; probe was launched after Turkish man told authorities in Kosov he was ‘thrown out to the street’ following operation

Following a month-long investigation, Israel Police’s National Fraud Unit arrested 10 people on Tuesday, including a physician, on suspicion that they were part of an organ-harvesting network.

According to the investigation, the victims were destitute people who were persuaded to sell their organs.
The secret investigation was launched after the European Union’s police and justice mission operating in Kosovo informed Israel Police that a Turkish national who was arrested in Kosovo told investigators that he had a kidney removed. He claimed to have been “thrown out to the street” by organ harvesters following the operation.

According to suspicions, the members of the organ-harvesting network sought out destitute people and offered them money in exchange for vital organs, which were meant to be used in transplant operations abroad. The donors received sums ranging from thousands to tens of thousands of shekels.

Police believe the network operated mainly in Kosovo and Azerbaijan. According to investigators, the recipients paid more than $100,000 for the organs. The organ harvesters, police said, did not provide the donors with the necessary medical care and kept them in the dark regarding the risks involved

The suspects will be arraigned on Wednesday at the Rishon Lezion Magistrate’s Court.

To Tan or Not?


We’ve all known for years that overexposure to the ultraviolet rays in sunlight can cause skin cancer. But now there is hard evidence of the damage that tanning beds can do, especially when people are exposed young.

Researchers at Harvard Medical School, who have followed more than 70,000 nurses for two decades, found that tanning-bed use increased the risk of developing all three major forms of skin cancer, especially for the young women who started during high school and college. Yale School of Public Health researchers found that indoor tanning increased the risk of developing basal cell carcinomas, the most common skin cancer, before the age of 40.

Far too many young people aren’t getting the message. An analysis published this month by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found some 30 percent of non-Hispanic white women ages 18 to 25 had engaged in indoor tanning in the previous 12 months; those ages 18 to 21 had averaged an astonishing 27 sessions per year. Other research has shown that indoor tanning — in which ultraviolet radiation may far exceed that from midday summer sunlight — may become addictive because it activates brain regions associated with a reward response.

California and Vermont have banned all minors from tanning beds. New York has banned use by the youngest children but allows older teenagers to tan indoors with parental permission. The Assembly has passed a bill banning the use of indoor tanning facilities by all children under 18. The measure has the support of the state medical society and the American Cancer Society. The Senate should approve the bill, and Gov. Andrew Cuomo should sign it into law.

Adults must make their own choices about whether to go to tanning salons, but children don’t have the same critical faculties. It should be clear that people who start tanning when they are young, and continue, are at much higher risk.

Nakba commemoration event resounding success with more than 3,000 participants

Throughout the day, at least 3,500 people from several states including Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin and New York, attended an outdoor Nakba commemoration event and Palestinian heritage celebration, hosted by the Chicago chapter of the American Muslims for Palestine on May 20 in Bridgeview, IL.

From the lively Palestine Parade, replete with horses, floats, Nasheed, and an overwhelming presence of Palestinian flags billowing in the wind, to dabka performances, freshly baked bread from replica ‘taboons’ (clay ovens), and educational tents highlighting the villages of Deir Yasin, Asqalan and Jaffa, the sixth annual Nakba event honored the victims who were killed or expelled from their homes in 1948. It also focused on passing along Palestine’s rich cultural and historical heritage to succeeding generations of Palestinian Americans.

amp AMP-Chicago’s second annual Palestine Parade hit the streets with more floats and a beautiful matched pair of horses pulling an antique-style carriage. In addition to floats carrying AMP dabka troupes, Girl Scout troop # 70528 from Lockport/Homer Glen, also joined the parade. Lively nasheed, and numerous Palestinian flags livened up a Bridgeview-area neighborhood as it wound its way along the parade route, gathering participants as it went.

amp No Palestinian cultural celebration would be complete without dabka performances, and AMP-Chicago’s 6th annual Nakba event was no exception. Four dabka groups, including two AMP-Chicago children’s groups, Bier Nabala group and Sanabal al-Quds of Milwaukee, entertained throughout the day.

amp Renowned poet and spoken word artist Remi Kanazi brought his unique style to the Bridgeview stage by performing poems from his latest book, “Poetic Injustice: Writings on Resistance and Palestine.”

‘Celebrating our resistance’




AMP Chairman Dr. Hatem Bazian’s riveting speech about the Nakba and Palestinians’ ongoing resistance strongly encouraged audience members to take pride in their heritage. He also warned against being afraid to speak up for Palestine.

“Today, we commemorate the Nakba. But we also are celebrating our resistance. We never laid down and said, ‘come and take our country,’” Dr. Bazian said. “We are strong in our resistance. Muslims in this country are being targeted to be afraid, to not speak about Palestine. Don’t be afraid. Speak truth to power. We are Muslims and we are asked to stand up for truth and justice.”
Imam Amin al-Ali of ICCI and Sheikh Jamal Said, imam and director of the Mosque Foundation, also delivered an impassioned speech about current conditions on the ground for Palestinians in Palestine and our duty to continue to work for justice.

Honoring ethnically cleansed villages

amp The villages of Deir Yasin, Asqalan al-Majdal and Jaffa, which were ethnically cleansed in 1948 by militant Jewish Zionists, were brought back to life with educational posters, pictures, and Palestinian artifacts, which decorated three tents, one for each village. Each tent had its own special characteristics that brought back the days before 1948.

Throughout the day, people were drawn to the tents. They gathered together, sitting on pillows on the ground, sipped tea and talked about their homeland, Palestine.

One of the most popular features in the past three Nakba events has been the replica ‘taboons’ or ovens, and the aroma of bread baking on hot coals. People lined up, patiently waiting for a portion of the warm, fluffy bread.

As always, the most popular feature of AMP-Chicago’s Nakba event was the replica Al Aqsa mosque and Dome of the Rock, crafted by AMP volunteers. Situated in the center of the midway, the replica mosques attract a great deal of attention as guests stopped to get their pictures taken by the most significant symbols of Palestine.

A 16-foot Apartheid Wall with original artwork reminiscent of Palestinian resistance graffiti greeted visitors as they entered the outdoor event. Guests also were given replica hawiyya, or Palestinian ID cards, to mirror Israel’s restrictions on Palestinian movement.

A prisoners’ tent paid tribute to those who courageously fought for their inherent human rights while being imprisoned without charge or trial, including Khader Adnan, Hanan Shalabi, Bilal Diab and Thaer Halahleh.

“The Avengers” Signals Illuminati Intentions



The Avengers is the highest grossing movie of all time, making $1.1 billion in just two weeks. According to Aspen, it describes the Illuminati (i.e. Cabalist/Masonic Jewish) intention to produce the chaos and destruction necessary for the return of the Messiah (i.e. Green Hulk) and to bring about Illuminati dictatorship.

At its heart, The Avengers reflects the Illuminati’s hatred of humanity, and their intention to kill it off.

The ultimate hero featured in Avengers is the Incredible Hulk, Dr. David Banner, a man whose inner rage allows him to transform into an enormous green-hued muscular beast of unstoppable power at will.

The Hulk states that he simply cannot be killed, and is credited for saving the Human Race. This is Illuminati self-representation.

Luciferian themes of Will and Vengeance (hence the title) characterize and define this film. While the dialogue (“You were born to be ruled!”) and certain choice scenes are relevant to a complete understanding of the film, it is more basic symbols and characters that deserve immediate attention.

Synopsis: The Norse trickster god Loki, banished from Asgard, forms an alliance with a race known as the Chitauri. Loki offers the Chitauri easy subjugation of Earth, and in exchange he requires governorship of the planet. An organization designated S.H.I.E.L.D., led by a man named Nick FURY, collects a band of super-human defenders to meet the Chitauri invasion.

Who are the Chitauri?

In Marvel Comics lore, the Chitauri are a race of shapeshifters who seek to subjugate the universe by eliminating Free Will.

In the comics, as well as the Avengers film version, it is the Green Hulk who proves to be the final, unbeatable defender of Humanity.

The Hulk’s skin is green. Green is the color of hope, new life, sexuality, and Pure Will Realized. This is Luciferian philosophy.

This was laid out pointedly in the recent release “The Green Lantern”, a film about an ordinary man named Hal Jordan who discovers the extraordinary power made possible by committing himself to Green Power.

Once he marries himself to Green Power (by putting on an actual wedding ring), he finds himself transported to an exclusive location of like-minded beings who tell him, “Whatever you can visualize will be made real.” Pure Will, realized. Not God’s will. Human Will. INDIVIDUAL Human Will. Check the Satanic Bible.

Message: The Man of Green saves the world, by Pure Individual Will alone
He is the Messiah of the Cabalist’s satanist lore, which posits that evil and destruction are necessary to the process of creation.

That is precisely what happens both in Green Lantern, and Avengers.


Names are important in Illuminati-sponsored projects.

The Hulk is the final, unstoppable “hero” of the film. The name of the “normal” human character is David Banner. This name means, literally, “the man who carries the banner of the House of David”. David was the King of Israel, from whom Jesus of Nazareth was said to descend. Does this mean that the Hulk is a Christian? Hardly.

This is a reference to the rumor that the Illuminati have kept in wait a scion of the House of David. This scion will emerge as a fighting hero and the elect leader of the New World Order. The Savior of Humanity against invaders, a planned false invasion, likely.

Going back to Green Lantern, consider the name of the main character “Hal Jordan”. “Hal” is a shortened form of the name “Henry”, with the associated meanings “chief”, “ruler of the house”, “commander”, etc. “Jordan” refers to the River Jordan in Israel. We’re back to the Banner of the House of David, and the Illuminati in general.

Who are the “Chitauri”?

“Tauri” is a term meaning “Earth Human”, used in the extremely popular and decade-long sci-fi series Stargate SG-1 (also Stargate: Atlantis). “Chi” is the English (Hanyu-Pinyin) transliteration of the Mandarin word meaning “to eat or devour”. The Chitauri, enemies of total freedom, aim to devour Humanity by removing Will from the species.


The Controlling Elite have plans in the works. They have long seeded the mind of the general population with expectations; they have long directed the weak-minded towards their designs.

Many questions remain:

Why Norse mythology? Why Loki and Thor?
Why war?
Why invasion? Why not commerce, and negotiation?
Why isn’t everything going okay?

Norse mythology can wait. As for the coming need for war, the answer is that Humanity is at war with itself, and it will not cease to be at war with itself until it confronts its own demons.

The Illuminati intend to create chaos and hell, then “remove” it. That is why, in Iron Man 2, they said two things:

“If you make God bleed, people will no longer believe. There will be blood.”

“I have successfully privatized world peace.”

This is one of Aspen’s best submissions. We are indebted to him for taking time to watch this retched movie and reporting his understanding of the symbols employed. He offers his observations as speculations, so why criticize his interpretations as though he is misleading us. He is explaining why we do NOT want our children to see this movie for the same reason we wouldn’t want them to watch a bang rape in progress.

In The Republic, Plato expounds at length why LIFE IMITATES ART. People (particularly young people) learn mostly by imitation. Obviously REVENGE is not a lesson we want our children to learn, because it is counter to Buddhism, Christianity and practically every benevolent philosophy and religion in the world.

In 1999, Scott McNealy, the former head of Sun MicroSystems, reportedly declared, “You have zero privacy anyway….Get over it.” He unintentionally let the proverbial cat out of the bag of the digital age.

AlterNetIn 2009, McNealy’s assessment was confirmed by Google’s CEO, Eric Schmidt. In an interview with NBC’s Mario Bartiromo, he proclaimed, “If you have something that you don’t want anyone to know maybe you shouldn’t be doing it in the first place.” Schmidt’s words have become Google’s new mantra. Welcome to 21st-century corporate morality.

Now, a decade-plus later, McNealy’s prophetic words have take on a far more sinister significance than he probably intended. They are increasingly becoming the operating assumption of the digital corporate state. Whether going online, using a PC, smartphone, tablet or digital TV, users can no longer assume they have any privacy. In fact, users should assume they have absolutely no privacy.

McNealy’s and Schmidt’s words both speak to a fundamental change in the definition of privacy. Once upon a time not so long ago, a sealed letter or a personal telephone conversation was considered private, protected communications. Those days are over.

Unless you have the time or the technical know-how to encrypt your digital communications, none of what you transmit – however personal — through a digital wireline or wireless network is “private.” Rather, through the spectacle of post-modern capitalism, the private has become public, the property of the corporation that owns your keystrokes. The digital revolution has morphed the personal into an electronic commodity; the electronic commodity is the exchange currency of an encroaching, 21st-century digital feudalism.

Two complementary forces are driving this change: short-term corporate self-interest and a self-serving security-state. The ordinary American’s traditional privacy rights are giving way to the demands of the militarized corporate state. They are determining America’s digital economy and future.


On March 1, Google introduced a new program that collects user data from its 60 services. Google stores “cookies” (i.e., code that compiles a record of an individual’s web browsing history) on a growing number of communications devices, whether a home PC, tablet, smartphone and a growing number of TV sets. These cookies track every Web site a person visits or function s/he uses.

Every time you enter a term into Google’s search engine, check out a video on YouTube, send or receive an email through Gmail (including key words in the message) or even make a call or download information on an Android-based phone, even using a third party’s phone from AT&T or Verizon, your input will be captured, stored and processed by Google. Google users can’t opt out of its data harvesting procedure; the company reports that the new procedure does not apply to Google Wallet, the Chrome browser and Google Books.

Google has been accused of hacking both Apple’s and Microsoft’s operating systems to further its data-capture practice. Jonathan Mayer, a Stanford researcher, discovered that Google could track a person’s usage of Apple’s Safari browser on an iPhone and an iPad, undercutting privacy settings. In addition, Microsoft engineers report finding that Google could bypass the privacy settings on its Internet Explorer browser. Google denies both accusations.

Google insists its data gathering practice is done for the ostensible purpose of better serving its users. It claims that by more precisely tracking a user’s inputs it can more efficiently target-market its advertising offerings. Its sophisticated artificial intelligence software enables it to “predict” individual user’s usage patterns. This is, in all likelihood, partially true as Google is estimated to control close to half of worldwide ad placements of the web.

However, Google’s long-term intentions seem more sinister. In 2010 it was revealed that Google partnered with the CIA in a venture called “Recorded Future.” Google’s vast data archive can be harnessed to meet “security” needs. This is especially troubling in light of a controversial bill being pushed through Congress, the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA). This gets scarier in light of a recent DC Court of Appeals ruling upholding a lower court’s decision blocking a Freedom of Information request from the Electronic Privacy Information Center. EPIC sought to determine the nature of the collaboration between the NSA and Google over Chinese hacking of the company’s site. The claims of national security are increasingly trumping a citizen’s right to know and his/her notion of privacy.

Google is not alone in data harvesting of personal – and once assumed private – information. Other high-tech companies, especially social networking sites like Facebook (with Microsoft’s Bing search engine) and Twitter, are redefining, shrinking, the country’s traditional notions of private communications. Once, not long ago, letters and phone calls were private. Today, once a user inputs a keystroke on their device of choice that is connected to the Internet, whether it be a PC, smartphone, tablet or, increasingly, TV set and accessed either through a wireline or wireless network, that data becomes a “public” commodity, owned by the private corporation that facilitates the communications.

In Europe, the issue of data harvesting of “personal” information is compounded by a growing number of cases involving anti-competitive practices. As of 2012, investigations have gone forward in at least 12 countries and at least nine countries have found Google guilty of violating various anti-trust and anti-privacy laws.

A user surrenders her/his personal or private information when s/he uses a Google-enabled or other communications device. To use these services, people are required to surrender their privacy rights to the new corporate lords of the information economy. In this process, they – we! – are becoming digital serfs.

Google was founded in 1998 and its 2011 revenues were $37.9 billion; more impressive, its market cap is approximately $200 billion. It ranks 73rd on the Fortune 500 list.

Google’s enormous wealth is derived from its breakthrough search technology and how it revolutionized the advertising business. Its patented, underlying technology, PageRank, transformed Internet search. It offers this service for “free,” and according to ComScore, it accounts for about two-thirds (66.4%) of online searches.

Its smart strategic thinking and wealth has led it to introduce an ever-growing variety of capabilities, services and products. The Google octopus ranges from its search engine to Gmail, from its digitalized library of copyrighted books to the Android OS, from YouTube to its acquisition of Motorola Mobile, and from the build-out of a 1-Gig fiber network in Kansas City to a smart, self-driving car venture.

Google is a postmodern company, on its way to becoming a 21st-century version of the legendary Standard Oil Company. It is as if, a generation ago, GM had business units in cable television, office products and first-generation computer software. Google has the potential of ending the reign of the vertically integrated company. It could become the cyber GE.

Google’s dark side surfaced in 2010 when it offered a joint proposal with Verizon to the FCC on the future of the net neutrality. The Electronic Frontier Foundation warned in no uncertain terms, “Unfortunately, … [the proposal] included some really terrible ideas. It carves out exemptions from neutrality requirements for so-called ‘unlawful’ content, for wireless services, and for very vaguely-defined ‘additional online services.’ … As many, many, many have already pointed out, these exemptions threaten to completely undermine the stated goal of neutrality.”

It must be noted that Google joined other Internet companies, most notably Wikipedia, in opposing the poorly conceived MPAA-backed anti-piracy bills; the House’s SOPA and Senate’s Protect IP Act. Most dramatically, Google blacked out its site.

Not long ago, the word “google” morphed from a noun, the name of a company, to a verb that denoted search. Now, the name for an ever-growing octopus of a company has come to signify a mounting threat to competition and online personal privacy.

Last month, the Federal Communications Commission imposed a modest $25,000 fine on the company for “delaying its [FCC’s] search for and production of responsive emails and other communications, by failing to identify employees, and by withholding verification of the completeness and accuracy of its submissions.”  Congressman Ed Markey (D-MA) complained that “[t]his fine is a mere slap on the wrist for Google.”

EPIC filed a suit in federal court arguing that the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) had failed to enforce an earlier Consent Order against Google to ensure personal online privacy. EPIC contended that Google’s new program to capture and integrate all the personal information it gathers from its various services, including its search engine, Gmail, YouTube and Android-based phones, is a threat to personal privacy. The DC court dismissed the suit.

In the face of these developments, Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) warned that “Google’s interception and collection of private wireless data potentially violates the Wiretap Act or other federal statutes, and I believe the Justice Department and state attorneys general should fully investigate this matter.” In a separate matter, a U.S. federal court recently held that unencrypted wireless network communications are not exempt from the protections of the Wiretap Act. Calls for a more comprehensive investigation heated up.

Following the dismissal of EPIC’s challenge, the FTC retained Beth Wilkinson, a high-powered outside counsel, to oversee a possible anti-trust prosecution of the company. She is a former Justice Department prosecutor who played a lead role in the conviction of the Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh. She is only the second outside litigator retained by the FTC to oversee an investigation. As the New York Times wrote, “The case has the potential to be the biggest showdown between regulators and Silicon Valley since the government took on Microsoft 14 years ago.”

At the heart of the FCC’s (and likely the FTC’s) inquiry into Google is the Street View project. Begun in 2007, Street View uses digital cameras to collect and display street-level images. Unknown at the time, Google was also employing Wi-Fi receivers concealed in the Street View vehicles to capture what is known as MAC (Media Access Control) addresses and SSIDs (i.e., user-assigned network ID name) linked to the location. In addition, it intercepted and stored Wi-Fi transmission data, including email passwords and email content.

The company originally downplayed its collection activities, minimizing the scope of its data harvesting and blaming it on a rogue engineer. However, in the face of widespread protests, Google was forced to end the illegal collection of Wi-Fi information.

The standoff between the FCC and Google involved the company’s apparent violation of privacy and wiretapping provisions of the 1996 Communications Act. The FCC’s decision to give Google a pass was based on a technicality, that the Act did not cover Wi-Fi technology. Nevertheless, the FCC report revealed that Google’s data collection was not the act of a rogue engineer but likely a corporate program. It found that Google had intercepted the private communications of millions of Wi-Fi users and that it “clearly infringes on consumer privacy.”

The FTC’s current inquiry into Google is not the first showdown between the two entities. In 2011, the FTC brought a suit against Google Buzz, the company’s first social networking effort, for violating its stated privacy policies and for using deceptive tactics. The FTC charged Google with using information collected from Gmail users to grow its then recently established Buzz service. Google’s settlement involved not only paying an $8.5 million fine, but agreeing to undergo regular audits of its privacy practices for the next 20 years. (Under the terms of the agreement, the FTC can fine Google up to $16,000 per violation per day.)

As the pressure mounts on Google in the U.S., a growing chorus of challenges is being raised in Europe and in other countries, including over alleged anti-trust violations, and Google’s new integrated data harvesting practice. EU Justice Commissioner Viviane Reding called it an “Orwellian surveillance apparatus,” adding, “My impression is that Google has trampled European data-protection legislation.”

France’s privacy watchdog CNIL determined, “Preliminary findings show that Google’s new policy fails to meet the requirements of the European Data Protection Directive (95/46/CE) regarding the information that must be provided to data subjects.” It urged a “pause” in the rollout of Google’s new data harvesting program.

Other investigations of Google’s new data-gathering practice are underway in Argentina and South Korea.

‘US, Zionist Regime, Britain bellicose ahead of Baghdad talks’

Interview with political commentator, Mark Dankof

The United States and Israel and Britain in my judgment have already poisoned the waters leading up to these talks. The United States, Israel and Britain have already “poisoned the waters” prior to the upcoming talks between Iran and the P5+1 in Baghdad, a political analyst tells Press TV.

The comment comes as the latest round of talks between Iran and the P5+1 group was held in the Turkish city of Istanbul on April 14. Both sides hailed the discussions as constructive.

They agreed to hold the next round of the talks in Baghdad on May 23, 2012.

Tehran and the P5+1 had previously held two rounds of talks, one in Geneva, Switzerland, in December 2010, and another in Istanbul, Turkey, in January 2011.

The US, Israel and some of their allies accuse Tehran of pursuing military objectives in its nuclear energy program.

Iran has repeatedly dismissed the Western allegations over its nuclear activities, arguing that as a committed signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and an IAEA member, it has the right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

Press TV has conducted an interview with political commentator, Mark Dankof, to further discuss the issue.
The video also offers opinions of two additional guests, security analyst, Charles Shoebridge and professor of the University of Tehran, Mohammad Marandi.

What follows is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: First of all let’s look at a useful and interesting timeline of Israeli and US information about an imminent Iranian nuclear weapon beginning 20 years ago. In 1992 current Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu predicted Iran was 3 to 5 years from having a nuclear weapon.

Again in 1992 current Israeli President Shimon Peres predicted an Iranian nuclear warhead by 1999 and then again in 1995 New York Times quotes US and Israeli officials saying that Iran would have the bomb by the year 2000. What do you make of these ongoing allegations?

Dankof: Well, I guess it’s an illustration historically of what the Israelis are up to. It seems to me that you have a situation where Israel and its neo-conservative allies and the American government and the American national security agencies are trying to make a case that there is some sort of an imminent threat from Iran when our own national intelligence estimate in the case that there isn’t.

This really mirrors what we did in the run-up to the war with Iraq and Saddam Hussein when there were all kinds of false reports being circulated about Saddam’s weapons of mass destruction courtesy of Ahmad al-Chalabi in the Iraqi National Congress only until later discovered that all of the reports were fraudulent and the United States invaded that country under false pretenses.

The other thing that we might ask ourselves is this: Israel is not a signatory to the nuclear non-proliferation treaty. Israel is known to have somewhere between 200 and 300 nuclear warheads; Israel is in a situation where they have been conducting their own rogue nuclear program since at least the 1960s.

And no one is asking the question as to why they are not coming under the inspection regimen of the international atomic energy agency and all of the other relevant international agencies that are involved in this.

I think it’s transparent what’s going on here and it’s a situation where we might ask ourselves whether the so called militarized nuclear program of Iran is really the reason why Israel obviously wants a war with the Iranians and whether or not there are in fact other reasons for wanting this military conflict to happen just as I argue, [US] president Herbert Hoover argued that FDR had other reasons for wanting to go to war with Japan.

Press TV: The ball being now in the court of the Western side, do you think now it’s for the West to decide on how it should deal with the case when it comes to the Baghdad talks as our guest Mr. Marandi was saying there.

Iran has been giving its transparent responses that they’ve been asking for; Iran has itself been developing it says its peaceful nuclear technology does that mean that the West is now facing a situation that it has to come up with an idea to reach a compromise here?

Dankof: I think it does and I think it’s an important emphasize that the United States and Israel and Britain in my judgment have already poisoned the waters leading up to these talks. After all the fingerprints of the Israeli Mossad are all over these assassinations of these Iranian nuclear scientists, utilizing the [Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization] MEK as their proxy in these killings.

You have drone airspace violations of Iran’s airspace; you have aircraft carrier deployments that are extremely threatening, that are continuing even as we speak here.

In regard of the Persian Gulf region you have all these economic sanctions that have targeted Iran’s oil industry as well as its banking industry and now we have a situation of course where the United States Congress has passed a military appropriations bill which basically says that Iran has no right to civilian enriched uranium program of any kind whatsoever.

That’s in clear conflict with the nuclear non-proliferation treaty; that is in clear conflict with international law and it simply dovetails with the statements that people like Joseph Lieberman who was Netanyahu’s best buddy in the United States senate have been making.

The curious thing is that in recent days the Israelis have slightly changed their tune on this. They said they would not permit any form of Iranian enriched uranium program now Ehud Barak is saying that ‘Israel will permit Iran to enrich uranium up to something like 3.5 percent.’

Press TV: Mark Dankof, right now we are hearing some observers concluding that if this round of talks also fails this means that the military option is going to come forward. Do you think that that is the case and the US is going to be seriously considering that?

Dankof: There are mixed signals on this, certainly we’re hearing very bellicose things out of all of the Israeli assets and the American national security establishment and the American government.

There are others however who urge extreme caution with this; who are quite concerned that we are getting ourselves into something that we cannot control; that we cannot foresee all of the implications of.

My fear is that even if the United States government comes to sanity and decides that a military preemptive strike on Iran is not in the cards and that it’s not in anyone’s interests, I’m concerned that Netanyahu may start this war on his own and then drag the United States into it in an American presidential year when Israel controls both the Democrat and Republican presidential candidates.

Below, an important article by New Profile activist (among many other things), Sahar Vardi, on the plight of deserters from the Israeli military, and the conscription system and militarized public opinion that haunt them. According to Israeli military records, there are a 2,700 deserters and 1,780 draft dodgers in Israel. In the last week alone, the IDF has arrested 474 of them as part of its largest-ever operation to apprehend them. Who are these “deserters”and in whose interest is it to invest so much of the military’s resources to hunt them down?

The month of May brought tidings of the Military Police opening its “hunting season.” In recent days the IDF has been tracking down hundreds of the 4,500 deserters and “draft dodgers” it has identified. Temporary detention facilities have been erected for this purpose, other prisoners released from military jails to make room. The press has made threats that detainees will be tainted with criminal records for the rest of their lives, and hundreds of military policemen will raid civilian homes throughout the country to haul in their prey.

The question that remains unasked is: Who are they? Who are these “deserters” and “service shirkers” (a relatively new term for what used to be called “draft dodgers” – people who were not exempt from military service and still did not report for conscription on their due date), to be hunted all over the country? And also, perhaps, who benefits?

In my young life I have run into quite a few “deserters” of various types, some of them during my time in military prison for refusing to serve in the army, others in my ongoing activity in New Profile (a feminist organization that supports the demilitarization of Israeli society). I have met amazing people and heard shocking stories that taught me more about our society than any class at school or university and all my volunteering in the community combined.

So who are these “deserters?” Here are a few examples:

The “deserter” is the young woman who, throughout her military term, would spend one month on the base, then several months at home to help her family make ends meet, then some months in the army jail, and so on and so forth. She and many others like her.

The “deserter” is the fellow who tried to commit suicide twice, and whose commanders still refused to take him seriously, so he went home instead of trying to kill himself again. He and many others like him.

The “deserter” is the combat soldier stationed in the Occupied Palestinian Territories whose commander did not let him see an army psychiatrist (mental health officer) to cope with what he’d seen there, so he went AWOL in order to get sent to jail, in order to see a psychiatrist there and have someone to talk to. He and many others like him.

The ‘”deserter” is the new immigrant who did not fit in, left the country, and when she came back to visit her family, discovered she was a “draft dodger.” She and many others like her.

The “deserter” is the soldier whose military service circumstances were fine, but did not manage to get a work permit. And when his mother called to tell him the confiscators were at the door, he went home and back to work, as he had done since the age of fifteen. He and many others like him.

The “deserter” is the young woman who was sexually abused by her commander, and when she was refused an assignment-transfer, went AWOL in order to be thrown out of her unit. She and many others like her.

The “deserter” is the Druze who completed his full three-year term in the army just to realize that Israeli society still considers him an “Arab”, a second-class citizen who does not even have a street name and address where he lives to receive his reserves call-up orders, and twenty years later a policeman arrested and informed him that he has been a reserves-dodger for 20 years. He and many others like him.

A ‘”deserter” is one of your daughter’s girlfriends, or a distant relative. The “deserter” is your kid brother, or the son of your friends. A “deserter” could be anyone who cannot cope with the military system, and especially the kind that this military system does not know how to handle.

And now I ask who profits from this “hunting” season? Whose interests does it serve? Certainly not all those 4,500 “deserters” who live in fear of arrest, or who have already become used to arrest as part of reality, and will be hunted down and incarcerated. It certainly does not benefit their parents, their families, and their friends when military police raid their homes and comb room after room in the attempt to catch someone.

Is it in the interests of the army to now invest extensive manpower just to hunt down these people? Does it benefit an army that in any case exempts 56% of the population prior to their conscription or at some point during their term of duty? Is it in the army’s interest in spite of the fact that a military committee created to examine the conscription pattern, has recommended transforming the army into a professional one, but its conclusions have never been implemented?

There is one single “social” advantage in this waste of resources and harassment of these youngsters, and it is made quite obvious in the campaigns advocating universal draft: those who have served in the army do not want to be “the suckers.” What they cannot understand is that they already are. The superfluous law of mandatory conscription for everyone is that which harms them, their rights, their freedom. Not the people who cannot afford to obey it.

So here is an original idea: Instead of the Israeli army spying on girls on Facebook, instead of hundreds of (wo)man-hunters spreading their nets all over the country and setting up new incarceration facilities, instead of youngsters being forced to choose between their lives and families and military service, instead of governments rising and falling and rising again while wheeling and dealing to draft the (until now exempt) ultra-Orthodox, and instead of those who do serve feeling like suckers – perhaps the time has come to admit that the “people’s army” is dead, and to abolish the law of mandatory conscription. For everyone.

Racist Zio-Nazi Rabbi–Non-Jews are ‘brainless thieves’


Racist Zio-Nazi Rabbi Shteinman, leader of Racist Zio-Nazi Lithuanian branch of ultra orthodox Jewry claims world was created for righteous, says nations have no principles

Speaking in Beit Shemesh ahead of the Shavuot holiday, Rabbi Aharon Yehuda Leib Shteinman, one of the leaders of the Lithuanian branch of haredi Judaism discussed the importance of the torah and said that the world was created for the righteous that learn and follow its teachings.
Yet he also issues some more controversial statements. The rabbi’s speech which was published in full in the haredi newspaper Yated Ne’eman, included statements on non-Jews:

“There are eight billion people in the world. And what are they? Murderers, thieves, brainless people… But who is the essence of this world? Has God created the world for these murderers? For these evil-doers? “
The rabbi, who has replaced Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv as the Lithuanian branch of Judaism’s spiritual leader, reiterated his statements and went on to say: “Non-Jews have no connection to torah. The nations have nothing, no confidence (faith) and no good principles.”
The majority of Rabbi Shteinman’s statements focused on the importance of torah and its influence on the day to day life and on the education of the next generation. The rabbi stressed that “those who don’t study torah, are not fulfilling the mitzvoth. If he doesn’t study torah it leads to devastation, his devastation, and the world’s devastation…
“This is what we need to aspire to, to see all the children, all our generations, make sure the sons study torah…anyone and everyone who wants to see “nachas” (joy) from their children needs to make sure they study torah.

“If not torah they will be illiterates and no joy will come of them. Even if he has money, is that the goal in life? Can you take money to the grave with you? There is no such thing. What do you have in the grave in the afterlife? Torah.”

The Chairman of Hiddush (for Religious Freedom and Equality) Rabbi Uri Regev said in response to Rabbi Shteinman’s statements: “It is incredible and outrageous to hear these hate filled statements against almost the entire human race.

“Rabbi Shteinman once again exposes the fact that his fable of moderateness was at best groundless and at worst an act of deceit.
