The termed that the attack on Al-Quds rally was a conspiracy of Zionist regime Israel saying the days of Israel are numbered. They said Israel was the biggest terrorist of the world and stressed the need to launch a war against it. “If we really want to end terrorism, the elimination of Israel is must,” they said. The speakers said the Zionist forces were bound to face defeat at the hands of the brave and courageous liberation forces while Jihad against existence of Israel would not let the dream of the Zionist state come true.

They backed the present Syrian regime and condemned the OIC decision for suspending the Syria membership of OIC.“Syria is the strong supporter of Palestinian resistance” and the present insurgency in Syria was the conspiracy to destabilize the resistance of Palestine, they added. The participants also carried posters of Palestinian martyrs. A worst traffic jam was also witnessed on MA Jinnah Road and other routes of Saddar that irked citizens for hours.Police and local volunteers adopted stern security measures en-route of March to foil any bid of terrorism. They installed the containers and sealed the entire route of the procession in connection of security threats.

Stepping up to aid Syria : Ali Akbar Salehi, foreign minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

NOVANEWS

Iran seeks a solution that is in the interest of everyone. Syrian society is a beautiful mosaic of ethnicities, faiths and cultures, and it will be smashed to pieces should President Bashar al-Assad abruptly fall. The idea that, in that event, there would be an orderly transition of power is an illusion –Ali Akbar Salehi (WP)

Hillary Mann Leverett,  Former White House and NSC official, appeared on Al Jazeera to talk about the prospects for resolving Syria’s internal conflict through diplomacy.

This week, Iran hosted an international conference on the conflict in Syria.  The conference is more important than most Western media coverage conveyed.  The conflict in Syria is not just a civil war; it has become a highly militarized proxy war, involving major regional and international powers (including the United States).  In such a situation, establishing a political process involving not only the full range of relevant internal actors but also all relevant regional and international players is critical to forestalling strategic and humanitarian catastrophe.  Against this backdrop, Hillary appeared on Al Jazeerayesterday to talk about the prospects for resolving Syria’s internal conflict through diplomacy.

Hillary concludes with a broader and very important point about the strategic challenge facing the United States in the Middle East today:

“In the information age…the issue is not who has the most guns, who can use the most force.  It’s who has the best narrative.  The United States is not going to carry the day here with the narrative of trying to arm the opposition to try to win the story here.  That’s something that the Syrians are going to have to do for themselves, without foreign intervention, and that’s something that Iran is trying to harness, and potentially can harness very effectively to increase its influence in the region.”

Iran Deserves “Respect” for its Efforts to Foster a Political Settlement in Syria she said.

– Washington Post

We humans often make the mistake of not learning from history, even when it is recent. Civil war in the Levant is not a thing of the distant past.

The Iranian foreign minister, Ali Akbar Salehi

With Syria descending into worsening violence, the 15-year Lebanese civil war should provide frightening lessons of what happens when the fabric of a society unravels.

When the Islamic Awakening — also known as the Arab Spring — began in December 2010, we all saw people rising up to claim their rights.

We have witnessed the emergence of civic movements demanding freedom, democracy, dignity and self-determination.

We in Tehran have watched these developments with delight.

After all, a civic movement demanding the same things that many Arabs want today is what led to the emergence of our Islamic Republic in 1979. During the past three decades, Iran has consistently underlined that it is the duty of all governments to respect their people’s demands. We have maintained this position as the Islamic Awakening has unfolded, without any lopsided shifts depending on the location of these civic movements. We have been in favor of change to meet people’s demands, whether in Syria or Egypt or anywhere else.

But what do some other members of the international community want for Syria? Unfortunately, there have been conflicting responses to the civic movements sweeping the Arab world. A glaring example of these contradictions lies in Bahrain and the way some states have responded to the crackdown on the uprising there.

The European response to the Syrian crisis has been particularly contradictory. Little, if anything, is said about the increasing presence of armed extremists in Syria. Even while preoccupied with the rising extremism in Afghanistan, thousands of miles away, European leaders seem unconcerned that they may soon have an Afghanistan on their doorstep.

To borrow the words of my respected friend Kofi Annan, who recently resigned from his post as special U.N. envoy to the Syrian conflict after seeing his peacemaking efforts continuously undermined, military means alone won’t end the crisis, and a political agenda that is neither inclusive nor comprehensive will also fail.

Iran seeks a solution that is in the interest of everyone. Syrian society is a beautiful mosaic of ethnicities, faiths and cultures, and it will be smashed to pieces should President Bashar al-Assad abruptly fall. The idea that, in that event, there would be an orderly transition of power is an illusion.

Although Annan’s efforts to end the crisis have been terminated, his six-point plan for political change is alive and well. Why should seeds of discord continue to be planted when the situation can be resolved rationally, through wisdom and providence? Those backing violence in Syria fail to see that whatever they seek through their actions won’t materialize.

Abrupt political change without a roadmap for managed political transition will lead only to a precarious situation that would destabilize one of the world’s most sensitive regions. Iran is part of the solution, not the problem. As the world has witnessed during the past decade, we have acted as a stabilizing force in Iraq and Afghanistan, two other Muslim countries thrown into turmoil. The stability of our region is paramount for world peace and tranquillity.

Some world powers and certain states in the region need to stop using Syria as a battleground for settling scores or jostling for influence. The only way out of the stalemate is to offer Syrians a chance to find a way out themselves.

Taking Annan’s six-point plan into consideration, Iran looks forward to bringing like-minded countries together to implement three essential points: Ensure an immediate cease-fire to stop the bloodshed, dispatch humanitarian aid to the Syrian people and prepare the ground for dialogue to solve the crisis.

I hereby announce Iran’s readiness to host a meeting of countries committed to immediately implementing these steps in hopes of ending the violence. As part of our commitment to resolve the crisis, I also reiterate our willingness to facilitate talks between the Syrian government and the opposition and to host such a dialogue.

Moreover, in line with Annan’s six-point plan, I once again declare Iran’s support for political reform in Syria that will allow the Syrian people to decide their destiny. This includes ensuring that they have the right to participate in the upcoming free and fair presidential election under international supervision.

As the holy month of Ramadan nears its end, I pray that Syrians will get to break their fast in peace and stability sooner rather than later — for their own interests and those of the world.

Changing of US Guard at the Garden of Opium

NOVANEWS

The Expendables:  Changing of US Guard at the Garden of Opium

The Pentagon’s Harvest of Death

by  Colonel Eugene Khrushchev, VT Editor

The White House, unable & unwilling to change its decade-long policy of ‘chaos mismanagement’ in Afghanistan & Pakistan, has instead developed a fancy to change precipitously its top reps – military & civilian alike – across the both sides of the Durand Line.

Ambassador Ronald E. Neuman

The latest bout of this revolving door relapse is ‘a work in progress’, with a mid-term assignment terminations for US Ambassadors in Kabul & Islamabad , to be followed shortly by US Commander in Afghanistan.

On the 4th of July 2006, against the backdrop of the 82 Airborne Division band in BDU playing country western hits alive, I had the honor to introduce the Russian DCM, Deputy Chief of Mission to the American Ambassador at the newly unveiled US Embassy compound.

At that time I had no idea, that Ronald E. Neumann, a distinguished career FSO in his own right and, as the son of former ambassador Robert G. Neumann, the only 2d generation US Ambassador to Afghanistan, would be the last one to complete his mission without being cut off at the knees by the very White House.

The Last of the Mohicans

For Russia, the appointment of William Wood as the next US Ambassador to Afghanistan in 2007, was probably the most symbolic & significant decision by the Bush administration in HR management at the State Department.

During his previous assignment as US Ambassador to Columbia, he came to prominence as State Department Dirty Harry for his zero-tolerance attitude towards narco-farming and promotion of aerial eradication  as the ultimate deterrent to curb drug plantations in favor of alternative livelihoods.

The Shadow of Trotsky

Richard Holbrooke

However, in a subsequent standoff between new US Ambassador and old Afghan president to launch or forbid aerial eradication, Bush sided with Karzai, having effectively betrayed his appointee who was eventually steamrolled to abort the War on Drugs mission by the Obama administration.

And the prize for this formidable feat goes to none other than…Richard Holbrooke.

An inveterate State Secretary wannabe, the Bulldozer couldn’t meekly accept to be once again, another Ambassador, and, after some ferocious fancy footwork, to the bemusement of international Diplomatic Corps, he carved out for himself a designer title: US Special Envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan.

He also had coveted India via his Viceroy tutelage, but Delhi dispelled this detrimental delusion out of hand.

YouTube

The White House concession to Holbrooke –a customized fiefdom as a consolation prize for bypassed Foggy Bottom top job – was a faint-hearted giveaway that created a separate layer of reverse osmosis in American foreign policy making.

Instead of accumulating a fresh flow of unvarnished analysis & advice from its diplomatic, military & intelligence missions in Afghanistan & Pakistan, American Politburo has imposed its own regurgitated chimeras on US outposts in Kabul & Islamabad, through the Almighty Commissar of the Office of Special Envoy.

One Step Forward

General Karl Eikenberry

A consecutive appointment of straight shooting generals in charge of US Embassy & Command HQ in Kabul was a stroke of genius and had a tremendous potential to make or break AFPAK stasis into clearly delineated Counternarcotics drive in Afghanistan and Counterterrorism campaign in Pakistan.

Intuitively, that decision– tagged by liberal alarmists as militarization of US foreign policy – was a belated acknowledgement that operational management of undeclared ‘war of necessity’ was paralyzed by the insidious tug of war between the State & Defense Departments.

Karl Eikenberry was the first and only general who had already been twice US Commander in Afghanistan, and the announcement of his third TDY as the next Ambassador in Kabul was supposed to attain the following objectives:

  • to tap into his most extensive hands-on experience on the ground
  • to provide  US leadership continuum vis-à-vis  Afghan counterparts
  • to terminate interagency turf battles and integrate civ/mil efforts into cohesive cooperation.

Stanley McChrystal, the lean & mean JSOC chieftain, was not a stranger to Afghanistan either. In promoting & dispatching him as the first 4-star general in charge of US & ISAF Commands in Afghanistan, despite his controversial track record, Obama tried to:

  • Dispel the notion that the new president is softie on national security issues
  • Project himself as a ‘true’ Commander-in-Chief  by elevating the status of US Command in Afghanistan from 3 to 4 star general post
  • Demonstrate his serendipity that in asymmetrical conflicts, especially in Afghanistan, unconventional forces – DOD JSOC & CIA SAD – should lead the way.

But the omnipresent Commissar of Vice &Virtue would have none of it.

  • He bulldozed Obama to renege on his extemporaneous initiative back into status quo ante
  • legalized the virtues  of impunity & immunity for elections rigging, corruption & drug production
  • micromanaged Karl Eikenberry and Stanley McChrystal  to ad nauseam
  • institutionalized omerta on situational awareness for civilian & military US Mission Chiefs in Afghanistan & Pakistan.

Two Steps Back

After the first Special Envoy mysteriously passed away, Obama had a propitious moment to dismantle that aberrational office, liberate US Embassies in Kabul & Islamabad from its lip service yoke and jump start the unconventional approach to deal with the epicenter of narco terrorism.

But the revolving door politics has already took over AFPAK policy review at the White House.

In summer 2010 CENTCOM boss was cajoled to take a demotion as a new US/ISAF Commander, and a year later, his old diplomatic sidekick from Bagdad was reactivated from retirement for a remake reunion in Kabul.

Vignette

To fill the boots of the departing US Ambassador-General in Afghanistan or in deference to the Commander’s 4 stars, or maybe that’s just simple US  IQ diplomat/general 4/1 ratio, America’s Lawrence of Arabia reported for duty with yet another 4 Ambassadors in his entourage.

_______________________

General David Petraeus

But the happy reunion of US/ISAF Commander and US Ambassador in Kabul was embarrassingly brief: just after one month of their joint tour, Obama, in a bout of second-guessing and nail-biting about the nightmarish scenario – 2 old buddies in cahoots against US deadbeat policy in Afghanistan – decided to split them apart.

In fall 201, the Petraeus mission in Afghanistan was abruptly aborted just halfway down and Paratrooper-General was awarded Golden Parachute to retire from the military and publicity into the ambiance of serene secret silence at the CIA.

Ambassador Crocker didn’t have such a lucky strike: in May this year the White House announced that his duty, in full accordance with newly established modus operandi, would also be terminated right at the middle, this time without any career enhancement sedatives.

Surprisingly enough, but the official explanation for resignation of US Ambassador in Afghanistan looks like a carbon copy of justification behind the former CIA station chief departure from Pakistan: ‘for health reasons’.

Obviously, both excuses are fake but let’s face it: ‘health reasons’ are no doubt should be of paramount concern for US Mission Chiefs in Kabul & Islamabad.

The Guardians of Opium

Therein lies the rub – it takes cognitive dissonance  to carry on the same decades-old US foreign policy in Afghanistan & Pakistan, while expecting positive results – but only amnesia can save from schizophrenia on the line of this perilous duty.

The US Doctrine “Don’t change policy, change the messengers” translates into policy paralysis and degrades Ambassadors & Commanders into one-year expendables.

Since the establishment of the Office of Special Envoy, the US Embassy in Kabul has been transformed into incubator of recycled & born-again Ambassadors, steeped in ‘preserving & protecting’ US policy of narco democracy – pusillanimous pussyfooters, pretentious & plenipotentiary.

Pakistan: Attack on PAF Kamra

NOVANEWS

By Raja G Mujtaba

Pakistan Air Force Base at Kamra was attacked in the very early morning hours today. Kamra, besides an Air Base, is Aeronautical complex also where PAF not only produces her latest JF 17 Aircraft but also has the rebuild facility for its entire weapon system.

Attack on Kamra is continuation of previous attacks on GHQ where the attempt was to take General Ashfaq Kayani as hostage and at PNS Mehran where the P3 C Orion Anti Submarine warfare Surviellance Aircraft were the target. At Kamra, SAAB 2000 the Early Warning Aircraft Sytem equipped with the latest techonology were the target.

The attack took place at 0230 hours when people were generally suppose to be busy with preparations of fasting. The date and time by the attackers was very carefully selected as it being the 27th of Ramadan on which night the maximum number of Muslims try and pray the whole night. Thinking that at this time all would be on low guard, the attackers tried to enter the base in PAF uniforms. The security guard Mohammad Asif having sensed the foul play shot dead one of the attackers who was later identified from Central Asia. Later the security guard was shot dead by the other attackers.

With this everone was alerted and everything moved in very swiftly to defend the base successfully. Air Commodore Mohammad Azam who moved in immediately to lead the operation got a bullet a bullet in his shoulder. Likewise an injured Squadron Leader who crawlled to put out the fire from a random firing that damaged a SAAB 2000 Aircraft.

The PAF spokesperson when contacted on telephone informed that PAF Chief Air Cheif Marshal  Rafiq Butt immediately at 0230 hours took over the entire operation for its logical conclusion.

All the eight attackers have been killed, the operation has concluded successfully for which the PAF desrves a commendation.

Prior to this report, I had written an analysis of the incident that is placed below.

Goldman Sachs Free to Keep Stealing

NOVANEWS
by Stephen Lendman

Goldman again got off scot-free. On August 9, the Justice Department dropped criminal fraud charges. Evidence the equivalent of enough firepower to sink a carrier battle group was buried and forgotten. More on what happened below.

Black’s Law Dictionary says:

“Fraud consists of some deceitful practice or willful device, resorted to with intent to deprive another of his right, or in some manner to do him an injury.”

It includes “all acts, omissions, and concealments which involve a breach of legal or equitable duty, trust, or confidence justly reposed, and are injurious to another, or by which an undue and unconscientious advantage is taken of another.”

The legal dictionary calls fraud:

“A false representation of a matter of fact – whether by words or by conduct, by false or misleading allegations, or by concealment of what should have been disclosed – that deceives and is intended to deceive another so that the individual will act upon it to her or his legal injury.”

Criminal and civil frauds differ by level of proof required. The former needs a “preponderance of evidence.” The latter must prove intent and be “beyond a reasonable doubt.”

Goldman settled SEC charges for pennies on the dollar. What a business. Steal a fortune. Pay a pittance back. Goldman writes it off as operating cost.

Wall Street’s business model reflects fraud and grand theft. Goldman steals with the best of them. Take away dirty money and the whole system collapses. It operates at the expense of investors and societies.

It profits hugely by swindling clients it calls “muppets.” Small time con artists rip off marks. Goldman loots on a grand scale. Even nations are plundered for profits. It makes money the old-fashioned way. It steal and get away with it unaccountably.

No avenue with potential is ignored. It’s an equal opportunity predator. Chairman/CEO Lloyd Blankfein calls it “doing God’s work.” Which one he didn’t say. The Supreme Court ruled he and other Wall Street giants are immune from clients pursuing security fraud charges. Washington alone can sue.

Wall Street’s culture encourages fraud. It’s rewarded handsomely practically risk-free. The price for getting caught is chump change. It pales compared to fortunes stolen. Betting against Goldman faces long odds. Casino ones pay off better.

In April 2010, the SEC filed civil, not criminal, fraud charges. Goldman and one of its vice presidents was accused of defrauding investors by misstating and omitting key facts about junk assets tied to subprime mortgages.

Huge profits were made as the housing market faced collapsed. Structured and marketed synthetic collateralized debt obligations (CDOs) paid off big. Their performance depended on subprime residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS).

Goldman withheld vital information from investors. Doing so let the firm and hedge fund investor John Paulson make huge profits. They correctly bet against the housing market. They were touting junk as safe investments that collapsed.

Charges involved violations of Section 17(a) of the Securities Act of 1933, Section 10(b) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, and Exchange Act Rule 10b-5. The SEC sought “injunctive relief, disgorgement of profits, prejudgment interest, and financial penalties.”

It settled for pennies on the dollar. It closed the books for $550 million. It amounted to about four 2009 revenue days. It hardly mattered. No executive was fined or imprisoned. Goldman was free to keep stealing. Headlines left details most vital to reveal unexplained. Only scammed clients understand.

In April 2011, the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations released a report on how banking giants, federal regulators, and credit rating agencies conspired to crash the subprime mortgage market.

Around 40% of it discussed Goldman. It sold an alphabet soup of securitized junk. Garbage included mortgaged-backed securities (MBSs), collateralized mortgage obligations (CMOs), and various other assets structured to fail.

Combined, they sliced, diced, packaged, repackaged, and sold them in tranches to sophisticated and ordinary investors. Many bought them unwittingly through mutual funds, 401(k)s, pensions, and other investments.

The Senate listed federal security law violations. Goldman wasn’t alone. Other major Wall Street banks conspired with financial partners to steal and get away with it. Justice Department officials and prosecutors got enough evidence to hang them.

Committee chairman Carl Levin said the panel’s two-year probe found “a financial snake pit rife with greed, conflicts of interest and wrongdoing.” He recommended prosecution. He added:

“In my judgment, Goldman clearly misled their clients and they misled Congress.”

On August 9, the Justice Department said it conducted “an exhaustive review of the report.” It concluded that “based on the law and evidence as they exist at this time, there is not a viable basis to bring a criminal prosecution with respect to Goldman Sachs or its employees in regard to the allegations set forth in the report.”

In other words, fraud charges don’t matter. Whatever Goldman does is OK. Stealing is how it does business. Obama officials find no fault. Goldman expressed relief it’s all over.

It knows Democrat and Republican Justice Department prosecutors won’t lay a glove on them. It’s free to make money by stealing it.

Its only obligation is regular campaign contribution kickbacks, insider trading tips, other ways for pols to profit and get rich, and financial officials like Bernanke, Geithner, and others at Treasury and the Fed getting sweet revolving door jobs out of Washington when or if they plan to leave.

Each side helps the other. Political and Wall Street crooks conspire to keep a sweet racket going. Corruption is a way of life. Congress, administrations, the judiciary, and scoundrel media go along. Laws are only for ordinary people. Predators are free to prey.

Accountability never mattered. Now it’s laughable on its face. Bad as things are now, expect much worse ahead. Massive fraud before 2007 crisis conditions exacerbated hard times. Far greater trouble looms. Financial wars lay waste like ravaging armies.

It’s the system, stupid. Profiteering from plunder is too repugnant to tolerate. It’s lawless, dysfunctional, and corrupt. It’s too far gone to fix. Building a world fit to live in requires tearing it down and starting over. Nothing less can work.

More 9/11 truth on Press TV!

NOVANEWS

by Kevin Barrett

I just got an email from a friend in Egypt:

“A’Salaamu A’Laikum. Hey man, I’m sitting in my apartment in Egypt, watching T.V. , Press T.V. to be exact – and there you are. You kick ass!!!!! Have a good Eid.”

He was referring to this interview.

I love Press TV.

Where else can you unload on the 9/11 perps in front of 100 million people?

No wonder Netanyahu is itching to attack Iran.

It seems like all of the best American dissidents are showing up on Press TV these days. Many of them are VT staff – Gordon Duff, Jim Fetzer, Joshua Blakeney, Allen Roland, yours truly, and lots more.

And I love how Press TV finally offers a voice to American Muslims. Polls show that two-thirds of American Muslims know 9/11 was an inside job. (That’s how many say it to non-Muslim pollsters – the actual figure is probably more like 90%). The Muslim majority is anti-Zionist, and has little use either for the wahhabis, or for Zionist-think-tank manufactured “liberal Islam.” (You know, the people who want homosexual mosques – I hate to imagine what the minarets might look like – and would like to pray with their noses two inches from prostrate women’s butts.)

Nobody whose views are even remotely close to those of the Muslim majority is likely to be heard in the Zionist-run American mainstream media. The only time a normal, average American Muslim with normal, average American Muslim views is ever reported on, is when the Zionist media is bashing him. Examples include my interviews with Fox, and more recently, the media witch-hunt against MD Alam.

Press TV is to be commended for bringing on real American Muslim leaders like Imam Musa – brave people who aren’t afraid to call it the way they see it.

As of now, Press TV is running ahead of Russia Today as the best news outlet available in English. Al-Jazeera English has fallen behind, as it becomes a slightly less anglocentric version of the BBC. Like the BBC, al-Jazeera won’t touch 9/11 except to pump out disinfo by the sewer-full.

The BBC reports Building 7′s “collapse” 20 minutes early, then unleashes a series of disinfo “special reports, including one that’s apparently complicit in the murder of 9/11 eyewitness Barry Jennings. Al-Jazeera churns out fake Bin Laden videos and shoots down its reporters’ plans to cover the 9/11 truth movement. Dime’s worth of difference.

It’s ironic, and a sad comment on Western journalism, that the best English-language news channels are coming out of Iran and Russia.

“Freedom Fighters”: The Foot Soldiers of the American Empire Selected Articles

NOVANEWS

Global Research

Since the end of World War II, the Anglo-American Empire has covertly supported the deployment of foreign and domestic “foot soldiers”, including terrorists and paramilitary brigades to bring about regime change and further its agenda of World domination.

One of the earlier examples of such a modus operandi, still widely ignored, is Gladio, “NATO’s European stay-behind army”, active during the Cold War. Controlled by the CIA and Britain’s MI6, Gladio members orchestrated terrorist attacks in Western Europe, which were blamed on Communist entities.

Gladio was falsely presented to key European state officials as a stand-by secret army ready to counter a possible communist take over. The ultimate goal of Gladio was to demonize the Communist and Socialist parties and encourage European citizens to endorse their governments’ commitment to “National security”.

American citizens were not exempt from such scheming. As Prof. James F. Tracy explains:

“The string of still unresolved US political assassinations throughout the 1960s suggest how such practices were not restricted to foreign countries. Nor were they solely the terrain of intelligence agencies. Along lines similar to Gladio, in the early 1960s the US Joint Chiefs of Staff proposed Operation Northwoods, where terrorist attacks would be initiated against US civilians in American cities and the violence blamed on Cuban combatants to justify war against the island nation.[2] The Kennedy administration rejected the proposal. While Northwoods exhibited the capacity for government to conceive and propose such plans, Gladio was demonstrably carried out against Western civilian populations in multiple locations over many years.” (Prof. James F. Tracy False Flag Terror and Conspiracies of Silence.)

The recruitment of  paramilitary armies and death squads played a key role in the conduct of US foreign policy. These “secret soldiers” were turned into highly visible “freedom fighters”, waging the Empire’s war at the forefront and in plain sight: Afghan Mujahideen, Nicaraguan Contras, Kosovar and Haitian rebels, etc.

As recent history has proven, the Western powers are still using this virtuous terminology to describe their foot soldiers, their terrorists in the Middle-East: the “pro-democracy Libyan rebels” and the “Free Syrian Army”. But who’s “freedom” and “liberty” are they fighting for? If an armed gang such as the “Free Syrian Army” invaded any Western street, they would be labelled as terrorists and promptly crushed by the national Defense.

The mainstream media not only ignores history, it distorts reality, it omits to report essential information. It never “connects the dots”. As Tony Cartalucci notes:

As West berates Syria for “killing civilians” Western weapons flow into terrorist hands from NATO. The New York Times in their article, “C.I.A. Said to Aid in Steering Arms to Syrian Opposition,” confirms what many have already long known – that the West, led by the US and its Gulf State proxies, have been arming terrorists, particularly the Muslim Brotherhood, while berating the Syrian government for “violating” a UN mandated ceasefire and for “failing to protect” its population. (Tony Cartalucci CONFIRMED: US CIA Arming Terrorists in Syria)

These omissions and distortions result in a Kafkaesque interpretation of reality which eventually becomes, with the exception of the independent alternative media, a mainstream media consensus serving dominant financial and political interests.

US-Saudi Sponsored Al Qaeda Killers in Syria

US-Saudi Sponsored Al Qaeda Killers in Syria
by Tony Cartalucci

Genesis of US-Saudi “Al Qaeda Frankenstein” in Syria Al Qaeda militants funded, armed

and arrayed against Syria by the West since atleast 2007 receive PR boost from

Western media as public awareness grows of their presence

“To undermine Iran, which is predominantly Shiite, the Bush Administration has

decided, in effect, to reconfigure its priorities in the Middle East. In

Lebanon, the Administration has coöperated with Saudi Arabia’s government, which

is Sunni, in clandestine operations that are intended to weaken Hezbollah, the Shiite

organization that is backed by Iran. The U.S. has also taken part in clandestine

operations aimed at Iran and its ally Syria. A by-product of these activities has been the

bolstering of Sunni extremist groups that espouse a militant vision of 4 Islam and

are hostile to America and sympathetic to Al Qaeda.” –The Redirection, Seymour Hersh

March 5, 2007 “In the nineteen-eighties and the early nineties, the Saudi government offered to subsidize the covert American C.I.A. proxy war against the Soviet Union in Afghanistan. Hundreds of young Saudis were sent into the border areas of Pakistan, where they set up religious schools, training bases, and recruiting facilities. Then, as now, many of the operatives who were paid with Saudi money were Salafis. Among them, of course, were Osama bin Laden and his associates, who founded Al Qaeda, in 1988.

This time, the U.S. government consultant told me, Bandar [bin Sultan] and other Saudis have assured the White House that “they will keep a very close eye on the religious fundamentalists. Their message to us was ‘We’ve created this movement, and we can control it.’ It’s not that we don’t want the Salafis to throw bombs; it’s who they throw them at—Hezbollah, Moqtada al-Sadr, Iran, and at the Syrians, if they continue to work with Hezbollah and Iran.” –The Redirection, Seymour Hersh March 5, 2007

Image:  Former-US President George Bush and King for Life of Saudi Arabia, Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al Saud: “The loving parents of Al Qaeda.” From the 1980’s to present day, the US and Saudi Arabia have funded, armed, and directed Al Qaeda while performing propaganda campaigns to bend public perception regarding the terrorist organization – portraying them as heroes, then villains, and back again. The “War on Terror” is a fraud.
….

America’s Implausible Deniability

Quite clearly, since 2007, the US and its allies were knowingly arraying sectarian extremists with direct ties to Al Qaeda against Lebanon, Syria, and Iran. Likewise in 2011, the US while leading NATO operations in Libya, armed, trained, funded, and provided air support for Libya Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) militants – also with direct ties to Al Qaeda.

Al Qaeda, by all accounts, is a joint US-Saudi creation, led by a Saudi (Osama bin Laden), and armed and funded by Western arms and cash laundered through Saudi Arabia to maintain both “plausible deniability” for the US, and to maintain a semblance of credibility for Al Qaeda militants across the Muslim World.

The now feigned, preposterous “fears” the US is expressing as the monster they’ve created becomes known to global public opinion, constitutes a new depth of depravity in regards to Western foreign policy, ultimately and irrevocably undermining the legitimacy of the West’s collective institutions and its status as a “stabilizing force” in global geopolitics.

The Associated Press joins Western governments in resigning its legitimacy and credibility with their recent report titled, “U.S. fears extremists could highjack goals of anti-Assad rebels,” which claims:

Al-Qaida has advanced beyond isolated pockets of activity in Syria and now is building a network of well-organized cells, according to U.S. intelligence officials, who fear that the terrorists could be establishing a foothold that would be hard to defeat if rebels eventually oust President Bashar Assad.

AP also claims:

At least a couple hundred al-Qaida-linked militants already are operating in Syria, and their ranks are growing as foreign fighters stream into the country daily, current and former U.S. intelligence officials say. The units are spreading from city to city, with veterans of the Iraq insurgency employing their expertise in bomb-building to carry out more than two dozen attacks so far. Others are using their experience in coordinating small units of fighters in Afghanistan to win new followers.

While AP attempts to claim this is a disturbing trend that “US officials” are worried about, other representatives of the corporate-financier interests driving Western foreign policy are attempting to repackage Al Qaeda as “necessary” and shifting to a benign ally.
Image: As more photos depicting Syria’s so-called “Free Syrian Army” as fighting under the banner of Al Qaeda emerge, hiding Al Qaeda’s presence becomes more difficult for the Western press and the corporate-financier interests they represent. Therefore a simultaneous campaign is being waged to spin Al Qaeda’s presence as “recent” and “unexpected,” while attempts are made to repackage the militant group as “heroes.”
….
Recently, the Council on Foreign Relations, a premier Fortune 500-funded US think-tank, wrote in their article, “Al-Qaeda’s Specter in Syria,” that:

“The Syrian rebels would be immeasurably weaker today without al-Qaeda in their ranks. By and large, Free Syrian Army (FSA) battalions are tired, divided, chaotic, and ineffective. Feeling abandoned by the West, rebel forces are increasingly demoralized as they square off with the Assad regime’s superior weaponry and professional army. Al-Qaeda fighters, however, may help improve morale. The influx of jihadis brings discipline, religious fervor, battle experience from Iraq, funding from Sunni sympathizers in the Gulf, and most importantly, deadly results. In short, the FSA needs al-Qaeda now.”

Also, while AP attempts to portray this disturbing trend as recent, Reuters had reported in their article, “Outgunned Syria rebels make shift to bombs” that months ago that militants operating in Syria had already begun deploying terrorist bombings utilizing skills honed by extremist militants who fought in Iraq over the last decade. The Telegraph reported even earlier, in November 2011, that Al Qaeda’s LIFG commander Abdul Hakim Belhaj had personally visited the Turkish-Syrian border to pledge cash, weapons, and fighters toward efforts in subverting Syria. Also in late 2011, reports that Libyan fighters, at least 600 of them, had already made their way to Syria began surfacing. As early as April 2011, the role of Al Qaeda in violence playing out all across the US-engineered “Arab Spring” was covered in Dr. Webster Tarpley’s “Al Qaeda: Pawns of CIA Insurrection from Libya to Yemen,” where Syria was specifically mentioned as targeted by the West’s supra-regional campaign.

If the alternative media knew in 2011 that Al Qaeda was on the ground in both Libya and Syria (and elsewhere), and if the New Yorker already reported, point for point exactly who and how events would play out in Syria, as far back as 2007, how is it then that the US only now “fears” extremists of their own creation “hijacking” the goals of the so-called opposition?

The answer of course is the US knew from the very beginning, in fact, long before the beginning. The use of militant extremists to undermine and overrun Syria in an orgy of sectarian driven violence was the chosen method of operation since at least 2007. The US decided to deploy a proxy force, the same one in fact the West had deployed in the mountains of Afghanistan in the 1980’s. Al Qaeda was a creation of US-Saudi machinations. It is a continuing manifestation of their collective machinations to this day.

Like Weapons of Mass Destruction, Strict Conventions Must Be Arrayed Against “Proxy Wars.”

Sarin nerve gas, anthrax, and nuclear weapons are considered weapons of such indiscriminate mass destruction, that their use is not only prohibited by both national and international laws and conventions around the world, but have entered civilization’s collective conscience as untenable and inexcusable to use on the battlefield.

Image: Nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons are considered weapons of mass destruction, and because of their indiscriminate nature, are banned by both national and international conventions. Proxy terrorists and mercenaries deployed into foreign countries (such as Libyans deploying to fight in Syria with US-Saudi backing) are not only indiscriminate, creating mass destruction and carrying out egregious atrocities, but do so for months, even years. Likewise their use should be banned by national/international conventions and nations caught employing them should have sanctions, severe penalties, and at the very least international condemnation leveled against them.

….
And just as Sarin nerve gas indiscriminately causes vast swaths of death, or a nuclear weapon kills all within its effective radius, so too do roving proxy armies, fanatically indoctrinated, monetarily motivated, armed, and funded by foreign interests, indiscriminately killing any and all that oppose them. While the West has used the possession and potential use of “weapons of mass destruction” as an excuse to violate the sovereignty of independent nation-states, it itself is deploying indiscriminate tactics leaving tens of thousands dead in nations like Libya, Somalia, Yemen, Sudan, Mali, and Syria. If deploying weapons of mass destruction against a population is considered a grievous war crime because of the indiscriminate, unsparing effects of such implements, then surely deploying armed proxies consisting of fanatical killers is likewise a grievous war crime – perhaps more so because of the extended sustainability of such operations, and the capacity to keep on killing and terrorizing for months, even years.

And while we will continue to protest the machinations of the West, we must identify, boycott and replace the very corporate-financier interests underwriting this abhorrent agenda. The process of protesting is moot if it is not done in tandem with an appropriate application of real, tangible activism. To protest Western policy, but then patronize the very corporate-financier interests driving it, is self-defeating and ultimately futile.
