The Terrorist War Against Syria

By Dr. Elias Akleh
September 9th, 2012

The daily incremental violent Syrian attacks and the orchestrated anti-Syrian political postures of most of the Western countries and some of the Arab states had become a low level war, spear- headed by foreign terrorist groups, some misguided Syrian groups, and vastly divided Syrian political opposition, aimed at the destruction of Syrian civil infrastructure and social fabric rather than the alleged declared goal of ousting of Al-Assad’s regime and the installation of Western-
type democracy.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union at the end of the 1980’s its friendly allies in the Middle East were left helpless to be claimed by the only remaining world unilateral power; the USA. A scheme of controlling the whole Middle East was morphed under different names during different times according to changing political situations. Such names included the New World Order, the Greater Middle East, the New Middle East, Spreading Democracy in the Middle East, Nuclear Free Middle East, War Against (Islamic) Global Terror, Axis of Evil, and finally the Arab Spring.

The American Power Elite spared no expense of the American tax Dollars, American
technologies and military resources to execute the New Middle East scheme, whose ultimate goal is to protect, to preserve and to expand the Zionist project of establishing Greater Israel in the heart of the Middle East to, initially, control the whole region.

The expansionist Zionist Israeli state project had faced major setbacks and is threatened to fail. Israeli citizens are tired of facing insecurity, of constant wars and of losing their sons. Israel’s wars against its neighboring Arab countries have become so costly and had failed to accomplish their objective. Israel’s 2006 war against Lebanon failed to destroy Hezbollah, who has become a more powerful military opponent. Israel’s 2008/2009 war against Gaza Strip had failed to accomplish its objectives despite all the military power Israel had mustered.

The Israeli economic situations are becoming so harsh even though Israel is feeding on the American tax money. Jewish alia (immigration to Israel) has been reversed and many young Israelis are leaving back to their parents’ original countries. To preserve their Zionist project Zionist leaders needed American help.

The American wars in Somalia, in Iraq, and in Afghanistan proved to be very costly financially, militarily, and politically. These wars plus the American unconditional political, financial and military support for international-laws-violating terrorist Israel have tarnished the image of the USA as a democratic loving society. The deteriorating American economy and the unfair administration’s bailouts of corrupting financial institutions had put a heavy burden on the American citizens. Many had lost their businesses, their jobs, and their homes. Encountering
beggars at every freeway entrance begging for a dollar or for “work for food” has become a common phenomenon.

A report by the American Department of Agriculture states that 17 million Americans, a dramatic increase from 800 thousands in 2011, are under the poverty line and cannot secure their daily meals. It is estimated that 47 million Americans are living on food stamps. People could not take it anymore and started to organize, i.e. the 99% and the Occupy Movements, and to protest the policies of the administration. Many American cities are declaring

their bankruptcy one after the other. To preserve control over America and to continue their imperialist expansion the Power Elite had to resort to the old tactic of “Order through Chaos” to accomplish its plans in the Middle Eastern region.

Order through chaos refers to the process of inciting hatred and division between different ethnic and religious groups within a country, whose strategic geopolitical location and natural resources are coveted by the Power Elite, to create military conflicts and terror attacks leading to many human massacres of innocent citizens. Under the allegation of obligation to protect human lives and providing humanitarian aid American and NATO troops are shipped to that country and
eventually affect a regime change installing a new government that becomes subservient to Western powers.

Terror groups are also created, financed, trained and armed to wreak havoc in other countries eventually leading to either military coups or Western invasion of that country. Some examples of these Western sponsored terrorist operations go back to Operation Gladio that was responsible for terror attacks, assassinations and coups in European and North African countries. Operation Condor is an American supported campaign of political repression, terror and assassination in Latin American countries such as Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia and Brazil during the late 1970’s.

Operation Northwoods was a 1962 American covert operation to commit terror attacks against the Cuban community in Miami, to hijack planes, or to blow up American ships and to blame the attacks on Cuban government of Fidel Castro in order to create public support for a war against Cuba. The American failed Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba had the goal of inciting a popular uprising, similar to the Arab Spring uprisings, against Fidel Gastro.

The Salvador Option model consists of American trained and armed military death squads that turned El Salvador in the 1980’s and later Iraq in 2003 into virtual killing fields. Al Qaeda is a CIA trained, armed and Saudi financed terror group with the initial goal of attacking former Soviet Union troops in Afghanistan, and then later directed to perpetrate terror attacks against any country the American administration decides to interfere in militarily. Although many evidences
and scientific analyses point to a false flag inside job, the 911 terror attack had been used as a justification to invade Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan and every other target in the whole world the American administration claimed as a terrorist base.

The misguided so-called Arab Spring is another elaborate scheme of new order in the Middle East through chaos, by the manipulation of misguided citizens and the use of state sponsored financed and armed terrorist groups, whose goal is to disintegrate, to divide, and to destroy Arab states neighboring Israel especially Syria
and Lebanon.

Syria has always been targeted for a regime change by the Western power elite. In 1949 the CIA had led a coup against then Syrian President Shukri al-Quwatli, who opposed the establishment of Israel, allowed the establishment of a communist party in the country, and opposed the construction of Saudi Arabian oil pipeline. Al-Quwatli regained presidency in 1955 and signed a military pact with the Soviet Union, as a result of the 1956 British/French/Israeli attack on Egypt, providing communism a strong foothold in the Middle East.

In 1957 a secret Anglo-American assassination plot was drawn by British Prime Minister Harold Macmillan and American President Dwight Eisenhower against al-Quwatli. Syria was pulled in the Lebanese civil war of 1976-1990 when the CIA informed Syria that Israel was about to send troops to occupy Southern Lebanon. Immediately after the American invasion of Iraq in 2003 Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld called for the invasion of Syria too as part of the alleged Spreading Democracy in the Middle East plan. When Rafic Hariri, a former Lebanese Prime Minister, was assassinated in 2005 the American administration hastened to accuse Syria even without any evidence.

Now, under the alleged continuation of the so-called Arab Spring, Syria is faced with a terrorist war aimed at the destruction and division of the country. Syria is the primary target of the Arab Spring scheme due to its support to Lebanese Hezbollah and Palestinian Hamas, who oppose and resist the Israeli occupation and expansion in the region.

Besides weakening these resistance groups the collapse of Syrian Al-Assad’s regime would open the road to Iran and close any Russian marine access to the Mediterranean Sea. A global anti-Syrian alliance of US, UK, France, Israel, Turkey, some Lebanese factions, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and lately Jordan and Kuwait, was formed to overthrow Syrian Al-Assad regime. This anti-Syrian alliance sent their special operation forces and foreign mercenaries into Syria to incite hatred and conflict by committing terror attacks against different ethnic groups and Syrian
forces, while at the same time waged a media war against Syrian government.

There are many so-called Syrian opposition groups such as Syrian National Council (SNC), National Movement for Change, the National Coordination Committee for Democratic Change (NCCDC), the Islamist Movement for the Fatherland, The Bloc for Liberation and Development, the Turkmen National Bloc, and the Kurdish Movement for a New Life among other less popular groups. Each has its own political goals and agenda depending on which foreign country is financing it. Their only uniting factor is the toppling of Al-Assad’s regime without any clear plan for what comes after that. The SNC failed to unite all these political factions under its banner, and to unite all the different militia groups under the Free Syrian Army.

This failure was due to its calling for foreign military intervention in Syria, a demand strongly rejected by genuine political Syrian oppositional groups such as the NCCDC, who boycotted the “Friends of Syrian” conference in Tunis. The SNC had also ignored the Kurdish demands during its July 2012 meeting in Cairo. Many political oppositional groups did not accept the real goals of the anti-Syrian campaign as declared by Burhan Ghalioun, the President of the SNC, when he stated that the new Syrian government, run by the SNC, would dramatically realign the power structure
of the region with the West (and with Israel by implication) and with the reactionary Arab monarchy regimes of the Gulf by cutting off Syrian military pact with Iran, and ending support to anti-Israeli occupation resistance freedom fighters such as Hamas and Hezbollah.

Unlike his father, Bashar al-Assad studied in UK and was exposed to other cultures. He adopted a more lenient form of governing which gained him more popularity among his people. To avoid a destructive fate similar to Libya, Al-Assad’s regime adopted serious reforms, called for referendum, established new constitution, called for democratic election, limited the term of presidency, and called for dialogue with the opposition.

These reforms dealt a political defeat to the anti-Syrian alliance, who claimed to seek and support democratic change in Syria. They pushed the opposition groups to reject the new constitution, refuse any dialogue, and demand al-Assad’s ousting. At the same time they pushed more weapons and money to the militia groups urging them to spread havoc in the country to create humanitarian crises blamed on the Syrian regime that would lead to foreign intervention.

Terrorists, including Al-Qaeda, were shipped to Syria. They attacked cities and perpetrated savage massacres against innocent citizens. Their first massacre in Houla (1, 2, & 3) failed to produce the results they wanted. So they perpetrated other massacres such as Daret Asseh, and Aleppo.

Foreign, American, NATO and Arab, military intervention in Syria was not possible due to the Syrian/Iranian military defense pact and to the Russian and Chinese veto in the UN. The anti-Syrian alliance was left with only one option; military and financial support to the foreign militia, mercenaries, and Al-Qaeda terrorist groups operating in Syria to weaken and to destroy the country. They do that openly, shamelessly, and in violation of all international laws.

The American administration and NATO give themselves the right to invade, occupy, and destroy other countries across the globe under the justification of fighting Al-Qaeda terror groups, they themselves had originally created, while deny the same right to Syrian regime, who is fighting terrorists within its own country.

Arabs won’t press Israel resolution at U.N. nuclear meet: diplomats

Arab states are expected to refrain from targeting Israel over its assumednuclear arsenal at the U.N. atomic agency’s annual conference next week so as not to undermine wider efforts for a nuclear weapons-free Middle East, diplomats said. This would be welcomed by Western states, which have been concerned that an Arab move against Israel would discourage the Jewish state from attending talks due to be held this year on banning suchweapons of mass destruction in the volatile region.”It is certainly positive,” one Western envoy said.
The diplomats said Arab countries would as usual criticize Israel in the debate but, like last year, not submit a joint resolution on the issue to the September 17-21 General Conference of the U.N.’s 155-nation International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).Western powers had been urging Arab envoys accredited to the IAEA not to put forward a non-binding but symbolically important resolution singling out Israel, which is widely believed to possess the Middle East’s only nuclear arsenal.

The mainstream Media is saying the US Embassador in Libya was killed by a ROcket propelled grenade, but he was infact lynch mobbed by the very Zio-Nato rats of Bengazhi that lynch mobbed Brother Leader MUAMMAR GADDAFI . US Ambassador to Libya, 3 Consulate Officials Killed in Benghazi

He came, he saw, he died

Updated 1:28pm: The US ambassador to Libya and three other embassy staff were killed in a mob attack on Tuesday in the Libyan city of Benghazi, the interior ministry said on Wednesday.
“The ambassador was killed along with three other officials,” said Wanis al-Sharif, the deputy minister of the interior.
John Christopher Stevens arrived to Libya as US ambassador in May, having served as the US special representative to Libya’s National Transitional Council during the country’s revolt last year against Muammar Gaddafi.
Stevens’ death in Tuesday’s attack was also confirmed in a tweet by Mustafa Abu Shagur, the deputy prime minister, who condemned the “cowardly act of attacking the US consulate and the killing of (ambassador) Mr Stevens and other diplomats.”

Asked about the deaths, a US Embassy employee in Tripoli said: “We have no information regarding this.” The employee said the embassy could confirm the death of one person.
Protesters in Egypt and Libya attacked US diplomatic missions on Tuesday in a spasm of violence allegedly in response to a US film that they believe insulted the Prophet Mohammad.
Fawzi Wanis, who heads the High Security Commission in Benghazi, confirmed that Stevens was at the consulate when it was attacked.
Libyan officials, cited by AP, said that Stevens was killed Tuesday night when he and a group of embassy employees went to the consulate to try to evacuate staff. The protesters were firing gunshots and rocket propelled grenades.
With “Brothers” in Tripoly
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, in a statement late on Tuesday, confirmed the death of one US diplomat, who was not identified, and condemned the attack on the Benghazi consulate, after a day of mayhem in two countries that raised fresh questions about Washington’s relations with the Arab world.

Israeli-American film sparks angry protests

Read more here:
The violence in Benghazi followed protests in neighboring Egypt where protesters scaled the walls of the Cairo embassy and tore down the American flag and burned it during protests over the film.
On Tuesday, Egypt’s prestigious Al-Azhar mosque and seat of Sunni learning condemned a symbolic “trial” of the Prophet organized by a US group including Terry Jones, a Christian pastor who triggered riots in Afghanistan in 2010 by threatening to burn the Quran.
But it was not immediately clear whether it was the event sponsored by Jones, or another, possibly related, anti-Islam production, that prompted the melee at the US Embassy in Egypt, and possibly the violence in Libya.
Whatever the cause, the events appeared to underscore how much the ground in the Middle East has shifted for Washington, which for decades had close ties with Arab dictators who could be counted on to muzzle dissent.
US President Barack Obama’s administration in recent weeks had appeared to overcome some of its initial caution following the election of an Islamist Egyptian president, Mohammed Mursi, offering his government desperately needed debt relief and backing for international loans.
In Libya, gunmen in Benghazi attacked the US diplomatic compound on Tuesday evening, clashing with Libyan security forces, officials said.
Abdel-Monem Al-Hurr, spokesman for Libya’s Supreme Security Committee, said, “There is a connection between this attack and the protests that have been happening in Cairo.”
But a US official in Washington, speaking on condition of anonymity, said he had no reason to believe the two incidents were linked.
Jones, the Christian pastor in Florida, said that on Tuesday’s anniversary of the 11 September 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, he had released a video promoting a film that portrayed the Prophet in a “satirical” manner.
Many Muslims consider any depiction of the Prophet offensive.
US media, including The Wall Street Journal, reported that the film at issue, entitled “Innocence of Muslims,” was produced by an Israeli-American real estate developer, but had been promoted by Jones.
In Cairo, among about 2,000 protesters gathered in the Egyptian capital was Ismail Mahmoud, who, like others, did not name the film that angered him, but called on Mursi, Egypt’s first civilian president, to take action.
“This movie must be banned immediately and an apology should be made,” said the 19-year-old Mahmoud, a member of the “ultras” soccer supporters who played a big role in the uprising that brought down Hosni Mubarak last year.
Once the US flag was hauled down in Cairo, some protesters tore it up and displayed bits to television cameras. Others burned the remnants outside the fortress-like embassy building in central Cairo. But some protesters objected to the flag burning.

Benghazi clashes

In Benghazi, Reuters reporters on the scene could see looters raiding the empty US consulate’s compound, walking off with desks, chairs and washing machines.
Unknown gunmen were shooting at the buildings, while others threw handmade bombs into the compound, setting off small explosions. Small fires were burning around the compound.
Passersby entered the unsecured compound to take pictures with their mobile phones and watch the looting.
No security forces could be seen around the consulate and a previous blockade of the road leading to it had been dismantled.
“The Libyan security forces came under heavy fire and we were not prepared for the intensity of the attack,” Hurr said.
Libya’s interim government has struggled to impose its authority on a myriad of armed groups that have refused to lay down their weapons and often take the law into their own hands.
A number of security violations have rocked Benghazi, Libya’s second biggest city and the cradle of last year’s revolt that toppled Gaddafi.
The breaching of the US Embassy walls in Cairo comes at a delicate time in US-Egyptian relations, and as the United States appeared to be trying an intensified engagement with Mursi’s government.
Last week, US officials said they were close to a deal with Egypt’s government for $1 billion in debt relief. Washington had also signaled its backing for a badly needed $4.8 billion loan that Egypt is seeking from the International Monetary Fund.
“I would urge you not to draw too many conclusions because we’ve also had some very positive developments in our relationship with Egypt,” State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said.
“One of the things about the new Egypt is that protest is possible,” she said. “Obviously we all want to see peaceful protest, which is not what happened outside the US mission, so we’re trying to restore calm now.”
Washington has a large mission in Egypt, partly due to a huge aid program that followed Egypt’s signing of a peace treaty with Israel in 1979. The United States gives $1.3 billion to Egypt’s military each year.
Following the protest, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry said it was committed to giving all embassies the protection they needed.
(Reuters, AFP, AP, Al-Akhbar)

Earlier on Tuesday, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that the US was heartbroken as she confirmed the death of a State Department official during the attack on the consulate.

“We are heartbroken by this terrible loss,” Clinton said in a statement, adding that Washington was working with countries around the world to protect its missions after twin attacks in Libya and the Egyptian capital of Cairo.

Egyptians Protest against Offensive Film to Prophet Mohammad (pbuh)

Local Editor

In protest over an offensive film to the Prophet Mohammad (pbuh), thousands of Egyptian protesters tore down the US embassy flag.

Al-Manar correspondent, Abdurrahman Abaza, reported that thousands of protesters gathered on Tuesday at the embassy in protest over a film deemed offensive to the Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) which was produced by extremist Copts resident in the US.

The correspondent said that the protesters called for the expulsion of the US ambassador in Cairo, as they held the Islamic flags: “”There is no God but God and Mohammad is the prophet of God.”

The protesters warned the US against insulting the prophet, as they demanded that all the churches in Egypt to condemn the film.

“It’s unacceptable insult which the Muslims will not accept by all means,” one protester told our correspondent.

“Muslims and Christians are taking part in this protest in a bid to refuse the insult against the Muslims,” another protester said.

Abaza said that many churches across Egypt issued statements in which it condemned the film, as well as Egyptian Christian activists across the world who announced the refusal to such acts.

Mister Seniora is definitely something else . Less than a decade ago the Lebanese went out of their mind when PM Hariri- the father- appointed him as authentic minister of finances to the great shock and objection of many, for the simple reason everyone knew that Mister Seniora was a certified thief. The Lebanese knew then that their money was not in good hands and they were right.

A graduate from the American University of Beirut, Mister Seniora has been since his university years working on a brilliant career, not necessarily academic but -probably- political and business oriented. Being a long time friend of Hariri, originating both from the same southern capital of Lebanon ie: Saida , Mister Seniora was considered as a wizard in finances . He even surpassed his master Hariri in the art of making money to the point that Hariri himself – before his assassination – thought of getting rid of him gently by relegating him to administer some bank far from where the big money was . Even then Seniora managed to make his way through and his new position that was supposed to be a form of exile turned out to be quite lucrative .

The servant was more skillful than the master and, once again, Hariri felt uncomfortable and even threatened by his greedy long time friend and was thinking again about where to place him in some other remote place when the Israelis attempted at his own life and killed him on Valentine’s day in year 2005 .

During all the obsequies and the great havoc that followed the death of Hariri and the false flag Cedars’ revolution that was rallying the masses against Syria and against president Lahhoud, Mister Seniora was not to be seen anywhere nor heard in any place ; very few knew about the differences that had opposed him to Hariri. . It was like a secret meal was being prepared somewhere for the expected time to come when all will be invited . Something was cooking for which the death of Hariri was only a prelude.

Not heard and not seen, Seniora was making his way through again – silently- not as a mere minister of finance, but as a Prime Minister, president of the Lebanese cabinet . A big step indeed and the money expert whom Hariri wanted out of sight because he had turned into a nuisance, had reappeared to take the place of his master and rule in his place. Now Seniora will have to show more of his well known skills and it is not until later that the Lebanese people will know what has happened during these years of great insecurity and havoc .

Nevertheless Seniora posed as a ruler until Hariri’s son reached maturity (if he ever reached it) and he was happy to fill in the gap until the son grew his own wings . Now , and for so many years, Lebanon would not be able to recover from the fatal blow given to its finances by Seniora and company because what the first investigations showed was that 16 billions were missing from the treasury since Seniora ruled before the son of Hariri took over . Seniora cannot provide any documents that showed where these huge amounts of money were spent , not only this, but a big portion of this money- including some donations that amounted to few billons- were transferred to individual private bank accounts that were kept secret .

This is what Lebanese had reaped from the rule of Seniora and Hariri the son, when they had not quite recovered from the rule and bad economic policies of the father. And this is not all because , while Hariri the father was not willing to implement the UN resolution 1559 that sought to disarm the Lebanese Resistance , we see Mister Seniora and Hariri’s son rushing – after his death – to please their western partners by going to any length required in order to see the resolution implemented, including pushing Israel to launch its war on Lebanon in summer 2006 and then feasting with Condolezza Rice at the US embassy while Lebanese were getting killed by hundreds.

The 11th Anniversary of 9/11

By Paul Craig Roberts
September 11, 2012 “Information Clearing House” – – The article below was written for the Journal of 9/11 Studies for the eleventh anniversary of September 11, 2001, the day that terminated accountable government and American liberty. It is posted here with the agreement of the editors.
In order to understand the improbability of the government’s explanation of 9/11, it is not necessary to know anything about what force or forces brought down the three World Trade Center buildings, what hit the Pentagon or caused the explosion, the flying skills or lack thereof of the alleged hijackers, whether the airliner crashed in Pennsylvania or was shot down, whether cell phone calls made at the altitudes could be received, or any  other debated aspect of the controversy.
You only have to know two things.
One is that according to the official story, a handful of Arabs, mainly Saudi Arabians, operating independently of any government and competent intelligence service, men without James Bond and V for Vendetta capabilities, outwitted not only the CIA, FBI, and National Security Agency, but all 16 US intelligence agencies, along with all security agencies of America’s NATO allies and Israel’s Mossad. Not only did the entire intelligence forces of the Western world fail, but on the morning of the attack the entire apparatus of the National Security State simultaneously failed. Airport security failed four times in one hour. NORAD failed. Air Traffic Control failed. The US Air Force failed. The National Security Council failed. Dick Cheney failed. Absolutely nothing worked. The world’s only superpower was helpless at the humiliating mercy of a few undistinguished Arabs.
It is hard to image a more far-fetched story–except for the second thing you need to know: The humiliating failure of US National Security did not result in immediate demands from the President of the United States, from Congress, from the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and from the media for an investigation of how such improbable total failure could have occurred. No one was held accountable for the greatest failure of national security in world history. Instead, the White House dragged its feet for a year resisting any investigation until the persistent demands from 9/11 families for accountability forced President George W. Bush to appoint a political commission, devoid of any experts, to hold a pretend investigation.
On 9/11 Doubts Were Immediate
On September 11, 2001, a neighbor telephoned and said, “turn on the TV.” I assumed that a hurricane, possibly a bad one from the sound of the neighbor’s voice, was headed our way, and turned on the TV to determine whether we needed to shutter the house and leave.
What I saw was black smoke from upper floors of one of the World Trade Center towers. It didn’t seem to be much of a fire, and the reports were that the fire was under control. While I was trying to figure out why every TV network had its main news anchor covering an office fire, TV cameras showed an airplane hitting the other tower. It was then that I learned that both towers had been hit by airliners.
Cameras showed people standing at the hole in the side of the tower looking out. This didn’t surprise me. The airliner was minute compared to the massive building. But what was going on? Two accidents, one on top of the other?
The towers—the three-fourths or four-fifths of the buildings beneath the plane strikes–were standing, apparently largely undamaged. There were no signs of fire except in the vicinity of where the airliners had hit. Suddenly, one of the towers blew up, disintegrated, and disappeared in fine dust. Before one could make any sense of this, the same thing happened to the second tower, and it too disappeared into fine dust.
The TV news anchors compared the disintegration of the towers to controlled demolition. There were numerous reports of explosions throughout the towers from the base or sub-basements to the top. (Once the government put out the story of terrorist attack, references to controlled demolition and explosions disappeared from the print and TV media.) This made sense to me. Someone had blown up the buildings. It was completely obvious that the towers had not fallen down from asymmetrical structural damage. They had blown up.
The images of the airliners hitting the towers and the towers blowing up were replayed time and again. Airliners hit the top portions of the towers, and not long afterward the towers blew up. I turned off the TV wondering how it was that cameras had been ready to catch such an unusual phenomenon as an airplane flying into a skyscraper.
I don’t remember the time line, but it wasn’t long before the story was in place that Osama bin Laden and his al Qaeda gang had attacked the US. A passport had been found in the rubble. Another airliner had flown into the Pentagon, and a fourth airliner had crashed or been shot down. Four airliners had been hijacked, meaning airport security had failed four times on the same morning. Terrorists had successfully assaulted America.
When I heard these reports, I wondered. How could a tiny undamaged passport be found in the rubble of two skyscrapers, each more than 100 stories tall, when bodies, office furniture and computers could not be found? How could airport security fail so totally that four airliners could be hijacked within the same hour? How could authorities know so conclusively and almost immediately the names of the perpetrators who pulled off such a successful attack on the world’s only superpower, when the authorities had no idea that such an attack was planned or even possible?
These questions disturbed me, because as a former member of the congressional staff and as a presidential appointee to high office, I had high level security clearances. In addition to my duties as Assistant Secretary of the US Treasury, I had FEMA responsibilities in the event of nuclear attack. There was a mountain hideaway to which I was supposed to report in the event of a nuclear attack and from which I was supposed to take over the US government in the event no higher official survived the attack.
The more the story of 9/11 was presented in the media, the more wondrous it became. It is not credible that not only the CIA and FBI failed to detect the plot, but also all 16 US intelligence agencies, including the National Security Agency, which spies on everyone on the planet, and the Defense Intelligence Agency, Israel’s Mossad, and the intelligence agencies of Washington’s NATO allies. There are simply too many watchmen and too much infiltration of terrorist groups for such a complex attack to be prepared undetected and carried out undeterred.
Washington’s explanation of the attack implied a security failure too massive to be credible. Such a catastrophic failure of national security would mean that the US and Western Europe were never safe for one second during the Cold War, that the Soviet Union could have destroyed the entire West in one undetected fell swoop.
As a person whose colleagues at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington were former secretaries of state, former national security advisors, former CIA directors, former chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, I was troubled by the story that a collection of individuals unsupported by a competent intelligence service had pulled off the events of 9/11.
As a person with high level government service, I knew that any such successful operation as 9/11 would have resulted in immediate demands from the White House, Congress, and the media for accountability. There would have been an investigation of how every aspect of US security could totally fail simultaneously in one morning. Such a catastrophic and embarrassing failure of the national security state would not be left unexamined.
NORAD failed. The US Air Force could not get jet fighters in the air. Air Traffic Control lost sight of the hijacked airliners. Yet, instead of launching an investigation, the White House resisted for one year the demands of the 9/11 families for an investigation. Neither the public, the media, nor Congress seemed to think an investigation was necessary. The focus was on revenge, which the Bush neocon regime said meant invading Afghanistan which was alleged to be sheltering the perpetrator, Osama bin Laden.
Normally, terrorists are proud of their success and announce their responsibility. It is a way to build a movement. Often a number of terrorist groups will compete in claiming credit for a successful operation. But Osama bin Laden in the last video that is certified by independent experts said that he had no responsibility for 9/11, that he had nothing against the American people, that his opposition was limited to the US government’s colonial policies and control over Muslim governments.
It makes no sense that the “mastermind” of the most humiliating blow in world history ever to have been delivered against a superpower would not claim credit for his accomplishment. By September 11, 2001, Osama bin Laden knew that he was deathly ill. According to news reports he underwent kidney dialysis the following month. The most reliable reports that we have are that he died in December 2001. It is simply not credible that bin Laden denied responsibility because he feared Washington.
But Osama bin Laden was too useful a bogeyman, and Washington and the presstitute media kept him alive for another decade until Obama needed to kill the dead man in order to boost his sinking standings in the polls so that Democrats would not back a challenger for the Democratic presidential nomination.
Numerous bin Laden videos, every one pronounced a fake by experts, were released whenever it was convenient for Washington. No one in the Western media or in the US Congress or European or UK parliaments was sufficiently intelligent to recognize that a bin Laden video always showed up on cue when Washington needed it. “Why would the ‘mastermind’ be so accommodating for Washington?” was the question that went through my mind every time one of the fake videos was released.
The 9/11 “investigation” that finally took place was a political one run from the White House. One member of the commission resigned, declaring the investigation to be a farce, and both co-chairman and the legal counsel of the 9/11 Commission distanced themselves from their report with statements that the 9/11 Commission was “set up to fail,” that resources were withheld from the commission, that representatives of the US military lied to the commission and that the commission considered referring the false testimony for criminal prosecution.
One would think that these revelations would cause a sensation, but the news media, Congress, the White House, and the public were silent.
All of this bothered me a great deal. The US had invaded two Muslim countries based on unsubstantiated allegations linking the two countries to 9/11, which itself remained uninvestigated. The neoconservatives who staffed the George W. Bush regime were advocating more invasions of more Muslim countries. Paul O’Neill, President Bush’s first Treasury Secretary, stated publicly that the Bush regime was planning to invade Iraq prior to 9/11. O’Neill said that no one at a National Security Council meeting even asked the question, why invade Iraq? “It was all about finding a way to do it.”
The leaked top secret Downing Street Memo written by the head of British intelligence (MI6) confirms Paul O’Neill’s testimony. The memo, known as the “smoking gun memo” whose authenticity has been confirmed, states that “President George W. Bush wants to remove Saddam Hussein, through military action, justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD. But the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy.” In other words, the US invasion of Iraq was based on nothing but a made up lie.
As an engineering student I had witnessed a controlled demolition. When films of the collapse of WTC building 7 emerged, it was obvious that building 7 had been brought down by controlled demolition. When physics instructor David Chandler measured the descent of the building and established that it took place at free fall acceleration, the case was closed. Buildings cannot enter free fall unless controlled demolition has removed all resistance to the collapsing floors.
If airliners brought down two skyscrapers, why was controlled demolition used to bring down a third building?
I assumed that structural architects, structural engineers, and physicists would blow the whistle on the obviously false story. If I could see that something was amiss, certainly more highly trained people would.
The first physicist to make an effective and compelling argument was Steven Jones at BYU. Jones said that explosives brought down the twin towers. He made a good case. For his efforts, he was pressured to resign his tenured position. I wondered whether the federal government had threatened BYU’s research grants or whether patriotic trustees and alumni were the driving force behind Jones’ expulsion. Regardless, the message was clear to other university based experts: “Shut up or we’ll get you.”
Steven Jones was vindicated when chemist Niels Harrit of the University of Copenhagen In Denmark reported unequivocally that the scientific team in which he participated found nano-thermite in the residue of the twin towers. This sensational finding was not mentioned in the US print and TV media to my knowledge.
Several years after 9/11 architect Richard Gage formed Architects and Engineers for 9/11 truth, an organization that has grown to include 1,700 experts. The plans of the towers have been studied. They were formidable structures. They were constructed to withstand airliner hits and fires. There is no credible explanation of their failure except intentional demolition.
I also found disturbing the gullibility of the public, media, and Congress in the unquestioning acceptance of the official stories of the shoe-bomber, shampoo and bottled water bomber, and underwear bomber plots to blow up airliners in transit. These schemes are farcical. How can we believe that al Qaeda, capable of pulling off the most fantastic terrorist attack in history and capable of devising improvised explosive devices (IEDs) that kill and maim US troops and destroy US military vehicles would rely on something that had to be lighted with a match? The shoe and underwear bombers would simply have pushed a button on their cell phones or laptops, and the liquid bomb would not have required extended time in a lavatory to be mixed (all to no effect).
None of this makes any sense. Moreover, experts disputed many of the government’s claims, which were never backed by anything but the government’s story line. There is no independent evidence that anything was involved other than firecracker powders.
The case of the underwear bomber is especially difficult to accept. According to witnesses, the underwear bomber was not allowed on the airliner, because he had no passport. So an official appears who walks him onto the airliner bound for Detroit on Christmas day. What kind of official has the authority to override established rules, and what did the official think would happen to the passenger when he presented himself to US Customs without a passport? Any official with the power to override standard operating practices would know that it was pointless to send a passenger to a country where his entry would be rejected.
The circumstantial evidence is that these were orchestrated events designed to keep fear alive, to create new intrusive powers for a new over-arching federal policy agency, to accustom US citizens to intrusive searches and a police force to conducting them, and to sell expensive porno-scanners and now more advanced devices to the Transportation Safety Administration. Apparently, this expensive collection of high-tech gadgetry is insufficient to protect us from terrorists, and in August 2012 the Department of Homeland Security put in an order for 750 million rounds of ammunition, enough to shoot every person in the US 2.5 times.
Naive and gullible Americans claim that if some part of the US government had been involved in 9/11, “someone would have talked by now.” A comforting thought, perhaps, but nothing more. Consider, for example, the cover-up by the US government of the 1967 Israeli attack on the USS Liberty that killed or wounded most of the crew but failed to sink the ship. As the survivors have testified, they were ordered in a threatening way not to speak about the event. It was twelve years later before one of the USS Liberty’s officers, James Ennes, told the story of the attack in his book, Assault on the Liberty. I continue to wonder how the professionals at the National Institute of Standards and Technology feel about being maneuvered by the federal government into the unscientific position NIST took concerning the destruction of the WTC towers.
What will be the outcome of the doubts about the official story raised by experts? I worry that most Americans are too mentally and emotionally weak to be able to come to grips with the truth. They are far more comfortable with the story that enemies attacked America successfully despite the massive national security state in place. The American public has proved itself to be so cowardly that it willingly, without a peep, sacrificed its civil liberty and the protections of law guaranteed by the Constitution in order to be “safe.”
Congress is not about to expose itself for having squandered trillions of dollars on pointless wars based on an orchestrated “new Pearl Harbor.” When the neoconservatives said that a “new Pearl Harbor” was a requirement for their wars for American/Israeli hegemony, they set the stage for the 21st century wars that Washington has launched. If Syria falls, there is only Iran, and then Washington stands in direct confrontation with Russia and China.
Unless Russia and China can be overthrown with “color revolutions,” these two nuclear powers are unlikely to submit to Washington’s hegemony. The world as we know it might be drawing to a close.
If enough Americans or even other peoples in the world had the intelligence to realize that massive steel structures do not disintegrate into fine dust because a flimsy airliner hits them and limited short-lived fires burn on a few floors, Washington would be faced with the suspicion it deserves.
If 9/11 was actually the result of the failure of the national security state to deter an attack, the government’s refusal to conduct a real investigation is an even greater failure. It has fallen to concerned and qualified individuals to perform the investigative role abandoned by government. The presentations at the Toronto Hearings, along with the evaluations of the Panel, are now available, as is the documentary film, “Explosive Evidence–Experts Speak Out,” provided by Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth.
The government’s agents and apologists try to deflect attention from disturbing facts by redefining factual evidence revealed by experts as the product of “a conspiracy culture.” If people despite their brainwashing and lack of scientific education are able to absorb the information made available to them, perhaps both the US Constitution and peace could be restored. Only informed people can restrain Washington and avert the crazed hegemonic US government from destroying the world in war.

The Zionist Brothers: Qatar in Egypt: Buying Foreign Policy

Cairo – Qatar’s recent announcement that it plans to invest $18 billion in Egypt following President Mohammed Mursi’s controversial statements on Syria may herald a new era in Egyptian-Qatari relations, observers say.

Qatari Prime Minister Hamad bin Jassem announced the proposed investments at a joint press conference with Egyptian Prime Minister Hisham Kandil on September 6. This new wave of investment comes on the heels of a $2 billion Qatari loan to the Egyptian state, the first installment of which was deposited at the Central Bank of Egypt on August 23.

The announcement came just a week after Mursi made headlines at the Non-Aligned Movement summit in Tehran when he announced his full support for the Syrian revolution against what he called an “oppressive regime.”

At the opening session of the council of Arab ministers last Wednesday, Mursi reiterated his call for the regime leadership to step down.

“Now is the time for change,” Mursi said, addressing the Syrian regime. “There is no room for arrogance or presumptuousness. Do not listen to those voices tempting you to stay, for you will not remain for long.”

Many in the region see a link between Egypt’s unyielding stance on Syria and the recent spike in Qatari investments in Egypt. Whether this influx of Gulf money was the goal behind Cairo’s posturing or rather the loan and investments were a result of Mursi’s anti-Syrian position, which has broad support at home, no one can say. At least some factions in Egypt, including the Hazemoun movement linked to former Salafi presidential candidate Hazem Abu Ismail, view the Syrian uprising through a religious, sectarian lens as a jihad against an “infidel” Alawi army.

The investments involve $8 billion in major projects in Sharq al-Tafria, East Port Said, and another $10 billion will be spent on a gigantic tourism project on the northern coast including a marina for luxury yachts.

The projects are expected to provide job opportunities for thousands of workers, but some worry such projects could become a tool in the hands of the Qatari regime and a means of leverage in any future dispute.

Al-Akhbar spoke to the founder of the Ibn Khaldun Center for Development Studies Saad Eddin Ibrahim, who is familiar with Qatari politics.

In his opinion, Qatar wants Egypt’s support on political issues, particularly when it comes to internal Gulf disputes with Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, as well as other Arab countries.

Qatar is a small country that needs strong allies, said Ibrahim, but its relationships with its direct neighbors – Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq – are fraught with difficulties. An ally in Egypt would not covet Qatari resources, making it a safe and powerful friend. In addition to increasing its political clout, Qatar also sees Egypt as a ripe investment opportunity.
