Gaza’s courage under fire puts a brake on the Zionists’ evil ambition

By Stuart Littlewood

Israel’s latest brainless onslaught has spectacularly backfired.

First, the courage and resilience of the Palestinians in Gaza has won the hearts and minds of the world…

The Hamas government, which has been forced to operate under impossible conditions ever since it was elected in 2006, earns grudging admiration and can hold its head high. Hated in the West because it is not for sale, Hamas should be accepted as a key player in the diplomatic process from now on.

Israel comes out of it smelling even worse than before and is now universally despised. It has shown itself to be the ultimate terror state and should be booted out of the United Nations.

The quisling Mahmoud Abbas, who skulked in the shadows and whose diplomatic machinery in the capitals of the world remained silent during the slaughter, ought to accept the revolver on the silver tray. He has no democratic legitimacy, no popular mandate. He’s finished.

One can sense that civil society across the globe is disgusted with Israel’s crimes against humanity and disrespect for the religious heritage of the Holy Land.

The West’s leaders, from Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton to David Cameron and William Hague down, who support the Zionist psychopaths, promote their vile purpose, reward their non-stop atrocities and even lie their heads off to defend them, are exposed for what they are – enemies of peace and unfit to serve in the governments of decent people.

For the benefit of those who prattle about terror killings, here is the score. In the 12 years since the first Intifada (September 2000) up to the end of September 2012 Israel killed 6,550 Palestinians in their homeland. Of these, 1,335 were children. Over the same period Palestinians killed 590 Israelis in their homeland, including 85 children. This is a kill-ratio of 11 to 1. When it comes to children the Israelis are even more proficient, achieving a kill-ratio of nearly 16 to 1. The figures, which now need updating to include the latest slaughter, come from the Israeli human rights organization B’Tselem which keeps count of such things.

No national leader worth his salt would tolerate his countrymen being unlawfully reduced in this way. The West perhaps is beginning to realize that Gaza too has a right to defend itself, and that right is non-negotiable.

Will Obama, Clinton, Cameron and Hague continue to pledge undying support for a regime capable of such butchery? I expect the answer to be “yes” because these statistics aren’t new: the shutters should have come down on those responsible years ago. This quartet’s determination to perpetuate the cruel occupation when they could end it with a snap of the fingers means they are probably beyond redemption.

All these things and many more combine to turn the tide. One can sense that civil society across the globe is disgusted with Israel’s crimes against humanity and disrespect for the religious heritage of the Holy Land.

Who are the terrorists now?

Inappropriate use of the T-word by people with sinister motives is one of the biggest obstacles to a just solution. Why does Britain blindly accept America’s branding of Hamas as a terrorist organization? As John Pilger and others have pointed out, when it won power in 2006 Hamas was the Arab world’s only democratically elected government and draws its popularity from its resistance to the Palestinians’ oppressor and tormentor of 64 years.

There’s nothing wrong with the definition of terrorism in George W. Bush’s Executive Order 13224, Section 3, which the US uses to outlaw and crush any individual, organization or nation that gets in its way. The joke is that it fits the US itself, and its special buddy Israel, like a glove. And they can’t see it.

But it would be difficult objectively to classify Hamas as a terror government given decades of brutal occupation, dispossession, economic suffocation, ethnic cleansing and denial of human rights at the hands of a lawless neighbour. The correct word for them is “guerrilla”, as General Sir Mike Jackson said on 18 November.

When democratically elected Hamas foiled a CIA coup in 2007, John Pilger noted that the event was (and still is) reported in the Western media as “Hamas’s seizure of power”. Furthermore, Hamas is never described as a government, let alone a democratic one, as it should be. Nor does the West acknowledge Hamas’s generous offer of a 10-year truce and support for a two-state solution, with just one condition: that the Israelis obey international law and end their illegal occupation beyond the 1967 borders.

Added to which Norman Finkelstein, in his book This Time We Went Too Far, says: “In June 2007 Hamas foiled a putsch orchestrated by the US, Israel and elements of the Palestinian Authority. Hamas has been repeatedly accused of ‘seizing control’ when it was correctly taking action to enforce its authority.” (my italics)

It’s all about maintaining Israel’s “deterrence capacity”

Israel tried to justify Operation Cast Lead Mark-1, launched in December 2008, by claiming self-defence against rocket attacks but the main motives, says Finkelstein, were to restore Israel’s “deterrence capacity” and counter the threat posed by a new Palestinian “peace offensive”.

Israel’s strategic goal … was (and still is) to retain the valuable parts of the West Bank by making the occupation permanent. Israel therefore would need to provoke Hamas into resuming its attacks “then radicalize or destroy it, thereby eliminating it as a legitimate negotiating partner”.

Deterrence capacity is about “keeping Arabs so intimidated that they could not even conceive of challenging Israel’s freedom to carry on as it pleased, however ruthlessly and recklessly”. The 1967 war had been unleashed for that same purpose.

Finkelstein explains how Hamas’s readiness to accept a two-state solution (on the internationally recognized pre-1967 borders) and the June 2008 ceasefire brokered by Egypt together caused Israel a dilemma in view of its aversion to any permanent peace. Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni wanted a period of calm but said any extended truce “harms the Israeli strategic goal, empowers Hamas, and gives the impression that Israel recognizes the movement”. Israel’s strategic goal, of course, was (and still is) to retain the valuable parts of the West Bank by making the occupation permanent. Israel therefore would need to provoke Hamas into resuming its attacks “then radicalize or destroy it, thereby eliminating it as a legitimate negotiating partner”.

Let’s keep that in mind in the weeks and months ahead. Israel won’t want the truce to last too long. And the Zionist regime’s strategic goal won’t have changed. Hamas is in the way ánd must be crushed. So we can expect the Israeli offensive to continue, perhaps by other means at first.

Furthermore, Israel is neurotic on the question of its own legitimacy and insists that Hamas acknowledge the Jewish state’s right to exist. This is comical considering the manner in which it came into being and the arm-twisting by the US to push the 1947 partition plan through the UN. Up until then Britain, which undertook the mandated responsibility for Palestine, had promised a Jewish homeland “within” Palestine, with all Jews living there as Palestinian citizens.

The question whether the UN acted lawfully in giving away 56 per cent of another people’s lands to racist interests that owned only 7 per cent will continue to be asked. Furthermore Israel today refuses to define its borders, so the question for Hamas (and everyone else) is: what exactly are we supposed to acknowledge or recognize even if we were minded to do so? Israel has expanded its 56 per cent to 78 per cent by land-grab and ethnic cleansing. Its snaking separation wall annexes even more.

So the incessant bleating for everyone to recognize its “right to exist” is seen by many as a fraudulent way of claiming legitimacy on whatever borders Israel’s brutal military can push to. If Hamas buckle they’ll “legitimise” and sign away all of Israel’s territorial gains at the Palestinians’ expense – past, present and future. But Hamas, says Finkelstein, “draws a very clear distinction between Israel’s right to exist, which it consistently denies, and the fact of its existence, and it has stated explicitly that it accepts the existence of Israel as a fait accompli…”

In the meantime, where is Israel’s recognition of the Palestinians’ right to exist in their homeland and their right to self-determination?

We wait to see if the international community at long last ensures that Gaza can rebuild, restore public health, enjoy a modicum of normal life and trade freely with the outside world.

Israel had set up Singapore’s military machine. (Yahoo! file photo)

UPDATED (19 November 2012, 7:37pm. Clarifies that Sleeper’s statement on university subsidy is not accurate)

A political science lecturer at Yale University says that Singapore is the Israel of Southeast Asia, citing the Asian city-state’s military background and power.

In a column provocatively titled Blame the Latest Israel-Arab War on… Singapore” in the Huffington Post, Jim Sleeper cited a world-wide survey published this month ranking Israel as the world’s most militarised nation followed by Singapore.

The journalist and author also said that soon after Singapore’s independence in 1965, then prime minister Lee Kuan Yew had asked Israel to help set up the city-state’s military machine.

He also maintained that Israelis persuaded Lee to make “conscription universal” to tap that resource to produce an “intelligent, dynamic army and a disciplined male student population”.

He implied that because of the link between the two states, Singapore’s delegation in the United Nations surprisingly abstained on a resolution condemning Israel.

Sleeper, who has opposed the establishment of a Yale campus in the Asian country in collaboration with the National University of Singapore, then moved on to that theme.

Though not the case, he claimed that Singapore university students receive substantial tuition subsidies after military service with the exchange of a service bond to Singapore companies or government agencies.

Actually, local students at national universities in Singapore pay tuition at subsidised rates. A Ministry of Education spokesperson said that university tuition subsidy is not tied to military service.

“Singapore is trying to become the education centre of Southeast Asia by setting up a liberal arts college that bears Yale’s imprimatur, while controlling the showcase as tightly as it does the military,” he said.

He concludes with the question, “Can any liberal democracy ever hope to flourish while pacing a gilded but iron cage?”

Where’s our humanity for Gaza?

NOVANEWS
by Sara Roy
Between February 2009 — just after the Operation Cast Lead onslaught — and August 2012, Israeli attacks in Gaza, averaging six per week. They came by aircraft, helicopter gunships, drones, and tanks throughout Gaza; the confiscation of, or damage to, fishing boats and the detention and arrest of fishermen; attacks on industrial, farm, and food production facilities; and military ground incursions.
The current crisis is framed in terms devoid of any real context. The issue goes far beyond which side precipitated the terrible violence that has killed innocents on both sides. The issue — largely forgotten — is one of continued occupation and blockade, a grossly asymmetrical conflict that has deliberately and systematically disabled Gaza’s economy and people.
The Gaza Strip is now in its 46th year of occupation, 22nd year of closure, and sixth year of intensified closure. The resulting normalization of the occupation assumes a dangerous form in the Gaza Strip, whose status as an occupied territory has ceased to matter in the West; the attention has shifted — after Hamas’s 2006 electoral victory and 2007 takeover of the territory — to Gaza’s containment and punishment, rendering illegitimate any notion of human rights or freedom for Palestinians.
The Israeli government has referred to its siege policy as a form of “economic warfare.” In a Nov. 2008 cable from the US embassy in Tel Aviv released by WikiLeaks, US officials wrote, “As part of their overall embargo plan against Gaza, Israeli officials have confirmed . . . on multiple occasions that they intend to keep the Gazan economy on the brink of collapse without quite pushing it over the edge” with the aim of having Gaza’s economy “functioning at the lowest level possible consistent with avoiding a humanitarian crisis.” This was achieved through an Israeli-imposed blockade that ended all normal trade.
The result has been high and persistent unemployment, which stood near 30 percent by June 2012, according to the International Monetary Fund. Approximately 39 percent of Gaza’s people lived below the poverty line in 2011. The figure would be far greater without donor aid.
Gaza’s economic decline is seen in the near collapse of its agricultural sector. One factor is the destruction of around 7,800 acres of agricultural land during Cast Lead. Consequently, approximately one-third of Gaza’s total arable land is out of production. Furthermore, Israeli-imposed buffer zones — areas of restricted access — now absorb nearly 14 percent of Gaza’s total land and at least 48 percent of total arable land.
Similarly, the sea buffer zone covers 85 percent of the maritime area promised to Palestinians in the Oslo Accords, reducing 20 nautical miles to three, where waters are fouled by sewage flows in excess of 23 million gallons daily.
Another critical constraint is water. Gaza’s aquifer has been ruined by prolonged over-pumping and sewage and contaminant infiltration.
Almost all of Gaza’s municipal wells used for drinking water are seriously polluted. Due to the breakdown of Gaza’s sanitation infrastructure, particularly after 2008, this infiltration has led to elevated levels of nitrates and chlorides in the groundwater and soil — far above World Health Organization safety levels — posing a dangerous health risk to humans and livestock.
Israel’s blockade policy restricts the entry of materials needed to repair, maintain, and upgrade Gaza’s sewage and wastewater treatment infrastructure. Save the Children reported in 2011 that Israeli airstrikes destroyed water and sanitation infrastructure valued at $1.3 million.
The impact on health is clear: Just under 10 percent of Gazan children under five suffered from chronic malnutrition in 2010. According to Save the Children, “Diseases of poverty and conflict combined with a degenerating health care system are claiming growing numbers of Gaza’s children.”
Birth defects, congenital anomalies, and cancer cases are reportedly rising. This is likely due to environmental contamination, including the possible use of toxic weaponry during Cast Lead. The current military assault will undoubtedly worsen environmental conditions.
Yet the US government will probably cut funding to the Palestinians if they pursue United Nations observer membership.
Political differences aside, where is our humanity?

China a Military Threat? No Wonder China is Nervous as Obama Pivots

NOVANEWS
Global Research

To read the mainstream Western media, one would conclude that China has become an economic giant now intent on flexing its military muscle and making a massive arms buildup to do so. China’s designated new President, Xi Jinping, has just won both the top Communist party post from predecessor Hu Jintao as well as the head of the powerful Central Military Commission, giving Xi a full takeover of party and armed forces.

A recent BBC analysis, in an article titled “China extending military reach,” is typical of Western media coverage of China’s military program: “China‘s first aircraft carrier will begin sea trials later this year. Late last year, the first pictures were leaked of the prototype of Beijing‘s new “stealth” fighter. And US military experts believe that China has begun to deploy the world’s first long-range ballistic missile capable of hitting a moving ship at sea.“ [1]

In Japan, nationalist politicians like politically ambitious Tokyo Governor Shintaro Ishihara and Toru Hashimoto, the mayor of Osaka, are gaining popularity with anti-China rhetoric and by claiming Japan must develop capacities to oppose Chinese military ascendency. In May the authoritative New York Times ran an alarming story to the effect that China announced a “double-digit increase” in military spending. In the actual text of the article they report an 11% increase over the previous budget, far less than even the rate of inflation.

However, when we examine in detail the actual redeployment and military moves of US Armed Forces in the Asia region following President Obama’s announcement of a new “Asia Pivot” refocus of US military capacities from Western Europe to the Asia region, it becomes clear China is re-acting, in order to attempt to deal with quite real threats to its future sovereignty rather than acting in an aggressive posture.

The mere fact that a standing President, Obama, during nationally televised Presidential debates labeled China as an “adversary” is indicative of the US military posture change. The depth and nature of the US pivot to China is crystal clear when one takes a closer look at the recent developments in an Asian US Missile Defense deployment, clearly aimed at China and no other.

China officially spent barely 10% of what the US does on its defense, some $90 billion, or if certain defense-related arms import and other costs are included, perhaps $111 billion a year. Even if the Chinese authorities do not publish complete data on such sensitive areas, it’s clear China spends a mere fraction of the USA and is starting from a military-technology base far behind the USA.

The US defense budget is not just by far the world’s largest. It dominates everyone else, completely independent of any perceived threat. In the nineteenth century, the British Royal Navy built the size of its fleet according to the fleets of Britain’s two most powerful potential enemies; America’s defense budget strategists declare it will be “doomsday” if the United States builds its navy to anything less than five times that of China and Russia combined.[2]

If we include the spending by Russia, China’s strongest ally within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, their combined total annual defense spending is barely $142 billion. The world’s ten top defense spending nations in addition to the USA as largest, and China as second largest, include the UK, France, Japan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Indiaand Brazil. In 2011 the military spending of the United States totaled a staggering 46% of total spending by the world’s 171 governments and territories, almost half the entire world.[3]

Clearly, for all its rhetoric about peace-keeping missions and “democracy” promotion, the Pentagon is pursuing what its planners refer to as “Full Spectrum Dominance,” the total control of all global air, land, ocean, space, outer-space and now cyberspace.[4] It is clearly determined to use its military might to secure global domination or hegemony. No other interpretation is possible.

China today, because of its dynamic economic growth and its determination to pursue sovereign Chinese national interests, merely because China exists, is becoming the Pentagon new “enemy image,” or adversary, now replacing the no longer useful “enemy image” of Islam used after September 2001 by the Bush-Cheney Administration to justify the Pentagon’s global power pursuit.

After almost two decades of neglect of its interests in East Asia, in 2011, the Obama Administration announced that the US would make “a strategic pivot” in its foreign policy to focus its military and political attention on the Asia-Pacific, particularly Southeast Asia, that is, China.

‘Obama Doctrine’ and Asian BMD

To date the heart of the initial stages of the China Pivot involve building a massive anti-Ballistic Missile Defense ring around Chinato neutralize China’s nuclear strike potential. During the final months of 2011 the Obama Administration clearly defined a new public military threat doctrine for US military readiness in the wake of the US military failures in Iraq and Afghanistan. During a Presidential trip to the Far East, while in Australia, the US President unveiled what is being termed the Obama Doctrine.[5]

The following sections from Obama’s speech in Australia are worth citing in detail:

With most of the world’s nuclear power and some half of humanity, Asia will largely define whether the century ahead will be marked by conflict or cooperation…As President, I have, therefore, made a deliberate and strategic decision — …the United States will play a larger and long-term role in shaping this region and its future…I have directed my national security team to make our presence and mission in the Asia Pacific a top priority… We will preserve our unique ability to project power and deter threats to peace…The United States is a Pacific power, and we are here to stay. Indeed, we are already modernizing America’s defense posture across the Asia Pacific. ..We see our new posture here in Australia…I believe we can address shared challenges, such as proliferation and maritime security, including cooperation in the South China Sea.[6]

On August 24, 2012the New York Wall Street Journal reported that the Obama Administration as part of its newly-announced policy of China Pivot, will expand its missile-defense shield, Ballistic Missile Defense or BMD as it is known in the military, in the Asia-Pacific region. [7]

The official reason given by the Pentagon for its new BMD deployment to the Asian theater is to protect Japan, South Korea and other US allied countries in the region against a North Korean nuclear missile attack. That argument doesn’t stand close scrutiny.

In reality, according to numerous reports, Washington has decided to invest in a major Ballistic Missile Defense network using Japan, South Korea and Australia. The real target of the BMD system is not North Korea, but rather the Peoples’ Republic of China, the only power in the region possessing even a potential nuclear threat with serious long-range delivery capabilities. It is part of the new Pentagon strategy of imposing full control over the future development of China.

The Washington BMD offensive has to be viewed as well in the light of the well-timed Japanese government decision to deliberately provoke tension with China over the disputed Diaoyu Islands in the East China Sea, a region believed to be vastly rich in natural gas reserves.[8]

Part III: Japan Missile Defense Key

In September 2012, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta announced that the United Statesand Japan had reached a major agreement to deploy a second major advanced missile-defense radar on Japanese territory.[9] In his announcement Panetta declared, “The purpose of this is to enhance our ability to defend Japan. It’s also designed to help forward-deployed US forces and it also will be effective in protecting the US homeland from the North Korean ballistic missile threat.”[10] A glance at the map shows the nuclear holes in Panetta’s statement. Chinese missile sites are just across the Korean border, well in range of the US-Japan new BMD installation.

The Washington decision to place advanced BMD infrastructure in Japan was made long ago as part of a US strategy of global military dominance. The BMD cooperation with Japan began in earnest on December 19, 2003, when the Japanese government issued the cabinet decision “On Introduction of Ballistic Missile Defense System and Other Measures.” Ever since, establishing a robust missile defense system has been a Japan national security priority.

Under the current Japanese government’s interpretation of Article 9 of Japan’s Constitution, Japan’s participation in collective self-defense is prohibited, as is using missile defense capabilities to defend a third country–even an ally such as the United States. Shinzo Abe, head of the Liberal Democratic Party, almost certain to become Prime Minister after the December 16 Lower House elections, is a strong advocate of BMD and of changing Article 9. That means we can expect a major shift to a more militant anti-China military posture from Tokyo. [11]

According to US military press accounts, the most important feature of the new Japanese BMD project will be installation of a powerful early-warning radar, ‘X-band’, made by Raytheon Co. It’s “a large, phased-array fire control sensor, featuring precision discrimination and interceptor support,” designed to counter threats from ‘rogue states.’ It will be installed on an unnamed southern Japanese island.[12]

Japan’s defense minister Satoshi Morimoto confirmed that Tokyo and Washington “have had various discussions over missile defenses, including how to deploy the US’s X-Band radar system.” [13] Japan already hosts one X-Band radar in the northern prefecture of Aomori, since 2006. It’s heavily opposed by local residents who fear, not without good reason, that the presence of the radar makes them a target for potential enemy attacks.[14]

BMD across Asia

The US move to prioritize its BMD installation in Asia involves not only Japan. Washington is also helping India improve its new missile defense system. The Indians want to build a multi-layer missile defense network with US help. Publicly India’s government cites Pakistan as the reason. Privately, it’s China. India test-fired its Agni-V intermediate range ballistic missile earlier this year and the Indian press openly cited the system’s ability to strike anywhere in China as the most important feature.[15]

According to Steven Hildreth, a missile-defense expert with the Washington Congressional Research Service, the USA is “laying the foundations” for a region-wide missile defense system that would consist of US ballistic missile defenses combined with those of regional powers, particularly Japan, South Korea and Australia. Although supposedly aimed at containing threats from North Korea, Hildreth also stated, “the reality is that we’re also looking longer term at the elephant in the room, which is China.” According to a report in theWall Street Journal the X-band arc would allow the US to ‘peer deeper’ into China, in addition to North Korea. [16]

As well, there are reports from unnamed US Defense Department officials that a third X-Band radar would be positioned in the Philippines, allowing the Pentagon to accurately track ballistic missiles launched from North Korea but also from large parts of China.[17]

In addition to Japan, Washington has invited South Korea and Australia to join the Asian BMD program. The official Chinese English language daily, Global Times, pointed out, “Among the nuclear powers, China has the smallest number of nuclear weapons. It is also the only country to make a ‘no first use’ commitment. Installing a missile defense system in Asia disrespects China’s nuclear policy.”

The Global Times article notes further, “If Japan, South Korea and Australia join the system, a vicious arms race in Asia may follow. It is not what China wants to see, but it will have to deal with it if the arms race happens. The US is creating waves in Asia. The region may see more conflicts intensify in the future. China should make utmost efforts to prevent it, but prepare for the worst.” [18]

Part V: BMD encourages Nuclear First Strike

The US BMD strategy in Asia follows a decision by the Bush and Obama Administrations to first deploy BMD in a ring surrounding Russia with installations in Poland, the Czech Republic andTurkey, aimed at Russia’s Intercontinental Ballistic Missile arsenal. As prominent retired US military officers have warned, deploying Ballistic Missile Defense against a potential nuclear opponent, whether Russia or China or North Korea or Iran is madness in strict military strategy terms.

With even a primitive missile defense shield, the US could launch a first strike attack against Russian or Chinese missile silos and submarine fleets with less fear of effective retaliation; the few remaining Russian or Chinese nuclear missiles would be unable to launch a response sufficiently destructive.

During the Cold War, the ability of the Warsaw Pact and NATO to mutually annihilate one another had led to a nuclear stalemate dubbed by military strategists, MAD—Mutually Assured Destruction. It was scary but, in a bizarre sense, more stable than what would come with a unilateral US pursuit of nuclear primacy. MAD was based on the prospect of mutual nuclear annihilation with no decisive advantage for either side; it led to a world in which nuclear war had been ‘unthinkable.’

Now the US, with BMD in Europe against Russia and in Asia against China, is pursuing the possibility of nuclear war as ‘thinkable.’ That is really and truly ‘mad.’

The first nation with a ballistic missile ‘defense’ shield (BMD) would de facto have ‘first strike ability,’ making BMD not defensive but offensive in the extreme. Lt. Colonel Robert Bowman, Director of the US Air Force Missile Defense Program during the Reagan era, recently called missile defense, “the missing link to a First Strike.” [19] BMD gives an incentive to make a first nuclear strike, something never before imaginable owing to the lack of certainty one’s nation would not become nuclear radioactive rubble. In military terms, BMD is offensive, not defensive contrary to the name, and should properly be named Ballistic Missile Offense.

Bowman further notes:

Under Reagan and Bush I, it was called the Strategic Defense Initiative Organization (SDIO). Under President Clinton, it became the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization (BMDO). Now Bush II made it the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and has given it the freedom from oversight and audit previously enjoyed only by the black or top secret programs. If Congress doesn’t act soon, this new independent agency may take their essentially unlimited budget and spend it outside of public and Congressional scrutiny on weapons that we won’t know anything about until they’re in space. In theory, then, the space warriors would rule the world, able to destroy any target on earth without warning. Will these new super weapons bring the American people security? Hardly. [20]

Washington’s major deployment of BMD across Asia is a major reason likely for the sudden decision to delay the 18th Party Congress until after the US elections to see whether China faced a President Romney or President Obama. What has materialized in terms of US military decisions in the few months since Obama first proclaimed his Asia Pivot and Obama Doctrine makes clear why China is increasingly nervous about Obama ‘pivots.’

Gaza Ceasefire: Palestine Holds Strong in the Face of U.S.-Backed IsraHell Terror

NOVANEWS
Global Research

A ceasefire agreement between the Hamas-led Palestinian government in Gaza and Israel was announced today, Nov. 21, in Cairo by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohammed Kamel Amr.

Clinton made an emergency trip to the Middle East with the aim of brokering a truce, a clear sign of the Obama administration’s fears that the continuation of the brutal Israeli assault on Gaza was endangering U.S. imperialist interests in the region.

Read Richard Becker’s important book ‘Palestine, Israel and the U.S. Empire.’

Since Israel’s latest intense bombing campaign began last week, Clinton, President Obama, and Republican and Democratic congressional leaders have repeatedly expressed all-out support for the Israeli side, while pointedly ignoring far higher Palestinian casualties.

The House of Representatives “passed” a resolution expressing its “unwavering commitment” to Israel. House Resolution 813 was introduced at 12:04 p.m. on Nov. 16, and declared adopted at 12:05 p.m. the same day!

Since Nov. 14, at least 146 Palestinians have been killed, more than 1,000 wounded, and much of Gaza’s infrastructure and public facilities destroyed by a coordinated air, sea and land-based bombardment. On the Israeli side, there have been five killed and more than 100 wounded.

To hear U.S. officials talk, you would think it was the other way around. But despite their obscenely pro-Israel rhetoric, it was also clear that Washington was fearful that a new Israeli ground invasion of Gaza might provoke rebellions in Egypt, Jordan and other neighboring Arab countries, and possibly lead to a wider war.

Despite the death and destruction inflicted by Israel, and despite the fact that it has no air force, navy, armored units or anti-aircraft defenses, the Palestinian forces have not been defeated. Virtually all news reports from inside Gaza reflect a strong determination to resist among the population.

The terms of the temporary agreement reportedly call for a halt to the fighting, an end to Israeli targeted assassinations of Palestinian leaders, and undefined steps to lift the Israeli blockade that has inflicted massive suffering on the 1.6 million Palestinians in Gaza.

Lifting the blockade is a critical issue for the people of Gaza. Whether there will be any real movement toward ending the blockade remains in doubt, as does the durability of the truce as a whole.

ISRAEL’S BLOCKADE: USING FOOD AS A WEAPON

While Israel withdrew its settlers and bases from Gaza in 2005, it has kept the area surrounded and blockaded ever since. As result, half of all school children are malnourished and two-thirds of infants are anemic. Eighty percent of Gaza’s population are refugees — those driven out of other parts of Palestine by the Zionist military forces in 1948 and their descendants.

After the Hamas party won the January 2006 Palestinian parliamentary election, Israel imposed a complete blockade on Gaza, with the support of the United States, European Union and the client government of Hosni Mubarak in Egypt. That the aim of the blockade was to make the people of Gaza suffer was highlighted by an article in the Israeli newspaper Haaretz the following month. It reported on a meeting of top Israeli government officials where the top advisor to then-Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Dov Weisglass, said: “It’s like an appointment with a dietician. The Palestinians will get a lot thinner but won’t die.” According to the Haaretz report, the assembled officials “rolled with laughter,” at Weislglass’s grotesque “joke.”

THE MYTH OF ISRAEL AS VICTIM

In the 1960s, the Black Panther Party had a saying about racist cops justifying their routine killing and brutalizing of Black people by “masquerading as the victim of an unprovoked attack.” It is a description that perfectly fits Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and his predecessors going back to the creation of the Israeli state in 1948.

In the U.S. corporate media, Israel is invariably depicted as the “victim.” Its brutal and cowardly military assaults are justified as “retaliation,” inferring that Israel’s actions are “self-defense.” Over and over, since the early 1950s, successive Israeli governments have staged provocations to prompt responses that could then be used to justify massive attacks while presenting Israel as the “victim of an unprovoked attack.” The aim has generally been to gain new territory and/or crush any state or movement perceived as a threat to Israeli military domination.

This familiar pattern was repeated in November 2008. The murder of five Palestinian civilians on the day after the 2008 U.S. election broke a ceasefire and set in motion a train of events that led to an all-out assault on Gaza by the Israeli military. A vast array of weaponry, including white phosphorous and depleted uranium munitions, was unleashed on a trapped population. More than 1,400 Palestinians were killed, while Israeli forces had 13 killed -– a ratio of more than 100 to 1.

This time, the fatal shooting of a mentally disabled young man on Nov. 5 and a 12-year-old boy on Nov. 9, both killed by the Israeli army inside Gaza, set off the new round of fighting. Then, on Nov. 14, Israel assassinated a top Hamas leader, Ahmed Al-Jaabari, the very same day that he had been presented with a proposal for a long-term ceasefire by a joint Israeli-Egyptian commission.

These provocations were no doubt approved at the highest level of the Israeli government. The extreme right-wing Netanyahu-Lieberman government desired a new conflict both to further devastate the Palestinian infrastructure in Gaza and to advance their political prospects in the January 2013 Israeli election. That hundreds of Palestinians and some Israelis as well would die in order to achieve these objectives was incidental to the Israeli leaders.

Whether the present ceasefire holds and for how long can’t be known at this point. The only real long-term solution to the crisis is an to end to colonial occupation and real self-determination for the Palestinian people, including the right to return to their homeland.

People with Green Hearts

NOVANEWS

by nahida the Exiled Palestinian

Arabic poem,

Author unknown,

Translated and illustrated by Nahida Exiled Palestinian

People with green hearts
The colour of trees is the colour of their hearts
Their dreams… water pure
 Their imagination… sky wide
They are capable of infinite forgiveness
Have the ability to bathe in optimism
And to wash themselves in dreams to the very last drop

 People with green hearts
Don’t ever expect to be stabbed from the back
By a hand that once shook theirs

Their days and seasons are works of art painted with hope
They don’t learn easily from their mistakes
Instead, they keep repeating them like a child’s bad habits

They offer hearts around them infinite trust
They’re incapable of seeing the colour black in existence

 People with green hearts
Come intimately near to those who pass them by in life,
So much so that they are glued to them
They cling to the minute details
Ever trusting of those around
Creative in finding excuses to the faults of others
 People with green hearts
Cling onto beginnings like mad
Reject endings fiercely
They can’t comprehend separation

They trick reality with a dream
The dream with an illusion
On the map of hope, they occupy vast areas
People with green hearts
 Don’t recognise mistrust or deception
Nor do they cause others to taste portrayal

They start with purity
 And end up with faithfulness
Longing steals much of their time
They keep loyal to their tales until death
Yesterday has immense reverence in their lives
 People with green hearts
Play the role of peace doves
 Spreading love on earth
Help in building abodes of joy

They hasten to mend the broken hearts
And talk with the voice of affectionAbout love and dreams

They make you feel that it’s them
Who invented the colour “white” in this universe
 People with green hearts
Hold fast to childhood, despite the passing of years
Their hearts forever young
Their souls never grow old, nor become polluted

Their faces reflects babyhood innocence

And their eyes mirrors truthfully their essence
They’re not good at hiding, or deceiving
And fail miserably in wearing masks
 People with green hearts
Never fail you when you need them
They are the first to cover your needs

When feeling overwhelmed; They are the first thing that you lay your eyes upon
The first who come to your rescue when drowned in sorrow

When you are suffocated they’d give you their breath
They’d make their lives a life ring thrown to you
 People with green hearts
When they love, they love passionately

When they are faithful, they are faithful passionately
When they get a shock, the get a shock passionately

And when they are broken, they are broken passionately
When they give, they give passionately
And when they cry, they cry passionately
If you find yourself embraced By one of those with green hearts
Cling onto them… passionately

As they are a rare treasure In times of colour-shifting hearts

Jews Against Humans

NOVANEWS

by JB Campbell

This essay—original source here—has been slightly edited and embellished with pictures, captions and comments by Lasha Darkmoon.

DISCLAIMER. The views expressed in this controversial exposé of Jewish crimes are those of its author, JB Campbell, and do not necessarily reflect the views of anyone associated with this website.  — Editor, John Scott Montecristo

I don’t know what Jews are, but I know what they are not, which is human.  I don’t know where they come from.  For that matter, I don’t know where we come from, but it’s not the same place.

Jews are aliens in every sense of the word.  They even cultivate an alien appearance.  Is there anything as strange as an orthodox Jew with his sinister black clothes and curly earlocks and ugly fedora?  And of course bathing is not the custom of the orthodox, so they smell very bad all the time.  They do this on purpose, for effect, for the shock value on us humans.

Thanks to the latest Gaza slaughter, things are coming into focus for many more people.  Many people are wondering:  what’s wrong with Jews?  Why is it so easy for them to kill people?  Why do they enjoy it so much?  Thanks to the Internet, millions are now wondering this online.  Before the Internet, there was no place to wonder this in public.  We weren’t allowed to wonder anything about Jews except how wonderful they are.

Today the world knows that Jews aren’t wonderful.  The world knows that Jews are dreadful.  And the Jews know this.  The Jews want the world to think of them as dreadful and to be afraid of them.  They want the world to fear the Jewish nuclear arsenal which they coyly decline to discuss.  One of their military professors, Martin van Creveld, was authorized to threaten Europe with Jewish nuclear attack if Europe should turn against Israel.

Israeli military historian Martin van Creveld, threatening:
“We possess several hundred atomic warheads and rockets and can launch them at targets in all directions, perhaps even at Rome.  Most European capitals are targets for our air force…. We have the capability to take the world down with us. And I can assure you that that will happen before Israel goes under.”

Pretty much everything we think we know about Jews is a Jewish hoax.  For example, their Jewishness.  The Jewishness of Jews is the number one Jewish fable.

The Jewish writer Arthur Koestler demolished this fable back in 1976 with his best seller, The Thirteenth Tribe, the first popular look we got at the Khazars and their descendants, the Ashkenazim.  The Ashkenazim are the ersatz Hebrews who happen to make up the entire leadership of Israel.

Three years ago an Israeli named Shlomo Sand ripped off Koestler with a virtually identical book, The Invention of the Jewish People.  This book again took the Jews by surprise, undercutting the basis of Zionism, the alien invasion, occupation and mass theft and murder of Palestine.  Like the Koestler book, it wrecked the “anti-Semitism” racket.  Both authors explained to their Israeli readers that they, the Israeli readers, were neither Semitic nor Hebrew.  Same for the New York readers and the LA readers and the Miami readers.  They’re all fake, wannabe Jews.

Briefly, the people of Khazaria were, around 800 AD, ordered by their king to adopt the law of the Hebrews as their own.  We can’t call it a religion.  The Talmud and the Old Testament are actually manuals of war against humanity based on harsh racial laws.  There is no mercy for their human enemies in these very unpleasant works.  The name of their god, YHVH, also means the Jewish people.  This allows them to choose themselves and to worship themselves in what we could call a closed loop of extreme and violent narcissism.

Their priests insist that non-Jews are on this planet to serve them.  And that it is kosher that non-Jews can be cheated, lied to and murdered with impunity.  This Jewish principle is honored on their most sacred holiday, Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement.  Another hoax, because they atone for nothing.  Instead of atoning for their crimes against humanity, they declare a new war three times on this “holy day,” with the thrice-recited oath, the Kol Nidre.  This vile “prayer” is a personal declaration of war against the humans.  It is a warning that nothing a Jew says for the next year is true.

THE KOL NIDREI PRAYER:

“All vows, obligations, oaths, and anathemas…which we may vow, or swear, or pledge, or whereby we may be bound, from this Day of Atonement until the next… we do repent. May they be deemed absolved, forgiven, annulled, and void, and made of no effect; they shall not bind us nor have power over us. The vows shall not be reckoned vows; the obligations shall not be obligatory; nor the oaths be oaths.” (See here)

The Jewish story is a tale of murderous insanity, as we have seen over the past week in tiny Gaza.  The first time we actually see this in the modern era is in the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917.  Shortly after Jews massacred the entire family of Tsar Nikolas in 1918, Trotsky’s Red Army newspaper announced:

“Without mercy, without sparing, we will kill our enemies by the scores of hundreds. Let them be thousands. Let them drown themselves in their own blood. Let there be floods of blood of the bourgeoisie — more blood, as much as possible!”

—  Quoted in Anne Applebaum’s Gulag: A History of the Soviet Camps, p.9

“Bourgeoisie” is the Communist word of contempt for the middle class; it is also said to be a coded word for the hated non-Jewish or gentile masses.

Trotsky himself wrote about the murder of the Tsar’s family:  “The decision was not only expedient but necessary. The severity of this punishment showed everyone that we would continue to fight on mercilessly, stopping at nothing. The execution of the Tsar’s family was needed not only in order to frighten, horrify, and instill a sense of hopelessness in the enemy but also to shake up our own ranks, to show that there was no turning back, that ahead lay either total victory or total doom.  This Lenin sensed well.”

Trotsky’s real name was Bronstein.  Lenin (Ulyanov) was revealed in declassified Soviet documents as a Jew.  Their Jewish colleague, Grigori Zinoviev, said this at a Communist meeting in 1918:

“We must carry along with us 90 million out of the 100 million of Soviet Russia’s inhabitants. As for the rest, we have nothing to say to them. They must be annihilated.”

The Jews murdered a lot more than ten million Russians and other peoples by the time they were done.  Hell, they probably killed that many just in Ukraine, rather than the advertised three million.  The generally recognized  Soviet death toll is over sixty million souls.  Some researchers insist that the appetite of the GULAG for seventy years of extermination of normal people by working them to death would have exceeded even the Communist Chinese death toll.

[LD: The most conservative figure for the Soviet Holocaust, now agreed upon by specialist historians and even cited in the Times newspaper (UK) is 50 million dead Russians.  This figure, likely to be on the low side, was achieved within a 36-year period of mass murder (1917-1953), initiated by Lenin the half-Jew and continued by Stalin, a Georgian non-Jew, who surrounded himself on all sides with Jewish commissars and sexy young Jewesses he liked to bed. However, Solzhenitsyn calculates the figure at 66 million, which is also cited by Eustace Mullins in his classic essay, The Secret Holocaust. It should be noted that one Jew alone, the infamous Lazar Kaganovich, personally claimed responsibility for killing twenty million non-Jews in the Soviet Union.]

The Jew traditionally has sought to be the invisible power behind the throne.  We usually didn’t see powerful Jews in the US government until Louis Brandeis was appointed by Wilson to the Supreme Court in 1916.  JFK had the Rostow brothers as advisors and Johnson had Abe Fortas and Arthur Goldberg working for him.  Then all hell broke loose with Nixon appointing Henry Kissinger as his national security advisor and then secretary of state!

That unleashed the Jewish dogs of hell which erupted in the Reagan administration with the so-called “neo-conservatives,” virtually all Jewish Communists who switched to the Republican Party and made it pro-Israel.  Communism and Zionism are virtually identical forms of terrorism except the former is based in New York and Moscow and the latter is based in New York and Tel Aviv.  The Communists pretended to be our enemies and the Zionists pretend to be our friends.

Peter S. sent me an important point yesterday which prompted this essay:

“On behalf of his sponsors, the Rothschilds, Napoleon Bonaparte commissioned a fabricated history of Ancient Egypt from Jean Francois Champollion for the purpose of “validating” the Torah so the Rothschilds could use it to back up their claim for Palestine. They did not want Palestine for the Jews, they wanted the Jews for Palestine, to be human shields for Mossad, the private intelligence and assassination service of the Lombardy bankers since Babylon.”

The same could be said for Cyrus Schofield and his Zionist concordance bible.  This ex-convict (for fraud and forgery) was sponsored by the infamous Jewish lawyer, Samuel Untermeyer, and the Jewish fixer, Bernard Baruch, to annotate the Bible to justify Ashkenazi Jews flooding into Palestine.  This Schofield propaganda is the basis for the Christian fundamentalists’ fanatical support for Jewish terrorism and dominance in the Middle East.

Untermeyer and Baruch teamed up in 1917 to pressure President Wilson to declare war against Germany, according to Benjamin Freedman, who later accompanied Wilson to Versailles to lower the boom on the defeated Germans, which led to incredible suffering, mass starvation, hyperinflation and the eventual violent deaths of millions of Germans and millions of others due to the actions of the Jewish monsters.

And then the same Untermeyer and Baruch pushed America into World War II with Untermeyer being authorized by the Jewish syndicate to declare Jewish economic war on Germany in 1933, when it became clear that Adolf Hitler was demonstrating to the world how to achieve prosperity with no Jewish gold, despite the denial of Jewish debt-based currency to the starving peoples of the world by the Jewish Federal Reserve.

This, in the middle of the Great World Depression, was the German Economic Miracle that took destitute Germany from starvation to full employment in a year and a half, simply by issuing debt-free currency.  For this greatest of all offenses to Jewish finance capitalism, Germany had to be fire-bombed into smoking rubble and, again, subjected to slow death by starvation.  According to James Bacque in Crimes and Mercies, Dwight Eisenhower’s post-war starvation orders resulted in the deaths of from nine to twelve million Germans from the end of the war to 1948.

In an interview after he was out of office, Eisenhower said the smartest thing he’d ever done was to ask Bernard Baruch for advice on his career when he was a lieutenant-colonel going nowhere in 1939.  Soon he was on the fast-track to five stars and the mass slaughter of the German people on behalf of Judaism – and the presidency as his reward.

That’s why I say that the Jews are some alien life form that is totally hostile to the Earth’s human population.  I don’t pretend to know whence they came, or claim that they are reptiles.  They act like reptiles and are certainly as cold-blooded and heartless as reptiles and what I do know is that they have to be wiped out entirely, just as rattlesnakes under your house have to be exterminated.  The Jewish mayor of New York has the face of a reptile, so I can see how this idea got started.

This is the guy who prohibited food being given to the hungry because it didn’t come up to his Jewish idea of nutritional value!  If a non-Jew had done this, the New York papers would have made him into a laughingstock.  But a Jew must not be mocked in New York—or anywhere else.

Remember one thing:  famine is the favorite Jewish method of extermination.  It costs nothing and it produces an agonizing death. It’s what’s planned for America when the Jews think the time is right.  The reader must prepare for the famine that is planned for us by the Jews.  Have a look at Ukraine’s Holodomor. (See Dees cartoon here)

This is the model for what they, the Jews, plan for us in America.

Precious metals will not be precious in a famine.  Food, water and ammunition will be precious.  These are the things we will need to survive and destroy Judaism.

While there is no actual connection between the Ashkenazi Jews and the legendary characters of the Old Testament, today’s Jews base their behavior on that of the legendary Jews.  The number one role model is Joseph, eleventh son of Jacob, as told in Genesis.  Study this story of contrived shortages and deliberately-caused famine.  It is the story of the Federal Reserve and Monsanto.

If we continue on our present course of government borrowing from Jewish lenders, our monetary system will kill us because society will collapse.  If we continue to eat poisoned food provided by Jewish Monsanto, we are doomed.  The monetary policy can be fixed virtually overnight but our genetically modified food may not be so easily neutralized.

*          *          *

Some say, forget about Gaza – concentrate on America.  Well, we can’t forget about Gaza because that’s our baby.  Gaza and the rest of Palestine is running in blood again because of the Jewish American government.  The only thing we Americans can do is kill this Jewish government that is using Israel as its agent of sadism, murder and total destruction.

Israel itself doesn’t do much damage compared with the American air force and army obliterating whole countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan.  Israel can’t do much because it is run by inept and kill-crazy but lazy Jews.  But Jewish finance capitalism is the quartermaster of the Jewish American death machine.  Without Jewish financing, Communism and Zionism collapse.  The US military will also collapse without Jewish funding.  Without Jewish direction, the US military will stop threatening the world with extinction.

So our first great task as American revolutionaries is to destroy every vestige of Judaism in America, in government, banking, the food chain, medicine and information (mind control).

Everywhere we find Judaism, we must eradicate it.

The first step toward anti-Jewish action is to discuss this with friends and family.  Jewish friends must be dropped and Jews in general shunned.  After all, what has any Jew whom you know done or said anything to stop Israel from its plan to nuke Iran?  As Brother Nathanael has warned, every Jew is politically aware and sees all issues by one measurement:  “Is this good for Jews?”  If your Jewish friends aren’t talking, it’s because they approve what America and Israel are doing to the humans.

Put as simply as possible – what the Jews have done to their human enemies must be done to them.  Everywhere in the world but mainly in Jewish America.  They’ve slaughtered millions of Middle Eastern human enemies in the past two decades, not even to mention the damage they did, the blood they spilled, in Russia and Germany.  On a one-for-one basis, the Jews owe us humans just about their entire population, whatever that is.

It’s only fair.

One thing is certain: if we do not remove every aspect of Jewish control from our lives, the human race will die out.

The day of reckoning is at hand . . .

PILLAR OF IMPOTENCE

NOVANEWS

By: Gilad Atzmon

In the past week, the people of Gaza have been subject to some serious Israeli attacks. Some Hamas leaders and militants have been murdered and many more Palestinians –  innocent civilians, babies, kids women and elders – have lost their live. Yet, Gaza is celebrating with the Hamas leadership never more popular.

So here is an interesting anecdote that deserves our attention. During the recent clashes Gazan militants launched more than 1500 rockets at Israel. These rockets caused rather limited damage with more than six Israeli fatalities. Militarily at least, this is far from a great achievement. And yet the Gazans are celebrating. Would Israelis be happy to learn that 1500 of their rockets had had such limited effect? Would any western army accept such a result at such a cost? The answer is a categorical NO. But the Palestinians are ecstatic, why, because they know they have won the battle and are now set to win the war. They won the battle, not because they killed six Israelis – actually they would have won it without hitting one single Israeli. They won it because they managed to deliver a message to Israel, world Jewry and the whole world.

For many years I have argued that the Palestinian war of the rockets should be seen as sending a message: Israelis! You are on stolen land! You took our houses, villages, cities, fields and orchards. You pushed us into the desert. You surrounded us with barbed wire. You starve us and you kill us simply to suit your political ambitions. So this rocket is a message to you all. Think about us and then look at yourself in the mirror. Enough is enough!’

For more than six decades the Israelis have dismissed this message. They surrounded themselves with ghetto walls and have sealed their skies with an Iron Dome. However, with Tel Aviv now under attack, Israel and Israelis have been confronted with their original sin.

In the last two days, the entire Israeli media has admitted the colossal defeat of the so-called Operation Pillar of Cloud. Just yesterday, the Israeli right wing Ynet wrote  “Hamas stood up and won almost all fronts…. Hamas has managed to turn focus on Gaza, it made it into the centre of the political discussion.” It seems that the most hawkish Israel government ever, has failed to beat either Hamas or the Palestinian spirit. The Palestinians are stronger than ever while the Jewish State has been exposed as an impotent manic-depressive collective driven by a neurotic and impotent leadership.

If Zionism was ever there to counter Jewish diaspora ghetto paralysis, just to ensure that ‘never again’ Jews would be ‘led like lamb to the slaughter’, Netanyahu, Barak and Liebermann have proved in the past week that paralysis is inherent to Jewish political culture. Like all bullies, they are obsessed with power, but when they meet defiance, their vile paradigm instantly collapses.

Speech can provides us with an insight into what we most lack. Speech can reveal that which we prefer to keep hidden. But speech is also often rather misleading,  there to shape our lies into a truthful narrative. But it is these ‘true lies’ that provide an access to the fearful-self. It is these ‘true lies’ that reveal the unconscious. So, when, for instance Jewish ‘anti’ Zionists preach to us about Jewish ‘humanism and universalism’ they are obviously lying yet are they not also expressing a yearning for such an ethos to really exist in their own culture? Similarly, when Israel refers to itself as ‘The only democracy in the Middle East’ it this not  because Israel would really love to be such a true democracy? In other words, often, when we speak we demonstrate what we most lack i.e. that which we miss and desire, yet we cannot admit this to ourselves. When Netanyahu decided to designate his latest massacre as a Pillar of Cloud, he actually tried to disguise from himself and his people the fact that in reality, he is actually an impotent, and the cloud is actually one big duvet of lies, there only to conceal his  shame.

Israel and the Israelis love to talk about their ‘power of deterrence’ –  Israeli actions, there to deter Palestinians and Arabs from even contemplating the possibility of challenging the Jewish state.  In fact, the entire Israeli foreign and military policy can be realised with reference to that power. Israel likes to see itself at the core of its neighbours’ anxiety. This explains the Israeli fascination with the accumulation of nuclear bombs and other WMDs. It explains the policy towards Iran and it also explains its brutal attitude towards the Palestinians.

Israelis are obsessed with ‘deterrence’ only because, deep down, they are aware of their own vulnerability. Israelis are fanatical about ‘deterrence’ because they know that when push comes to shove, they themselves are actually powerless. They are now exposed for what they are: a fragmented society dominated by egotistic hedonism. Israelis know that their underbelly is very soft indeed.

Israeli collective melancholia must be realised in the light of their inevitable encounter with their true nature. As Ynet admits, they have been defeated in almost every possible respect. As a society, they have been caught naked and their imaginary collective bond has proved to be a farce. In spite of Israel’s mighty, sophisticated army the Hamas leadership, together with the people of Gaza, remained defiant. In spite of relentless air raids, and till the very last moment, Hamas kept firing their rockets reminding Israelis what life in Gaza is really like. When it seemed that the IAF had done its worst (but achieved so little), the Israeli government called on its 75.000 reservists, hoping against hope that such a move would bully Hamas into surrender. Again they were wrong. Ismail Haniah made things very clear when he invited the Israeli reservists to try their luck and enter the strip. Israel was caught with its trousers down – and believe me, the vision of their collective genitalia was not a pretty sight!

‘Unconscious is the discourse of the other’ says Lacan. The fear of impotence is not the fear that you may not be up to much in bed, it is actually the unconscious nightmare that everyone around you is saying behind your back that you’re not up to much in bed. Israelis not just now admitting their impotence to themselves, they are also aware of now being seen as a bunch of arrogant, cowardly and helpless barbarians.

By the time it became clear that the Pillar wasn’t even semi-erect and the Cloud couldn’t cover even that embarrassing truth, Netanyahu, Barak and Liebermann as well as the whole of Israeli society realised that nothing was left of Israel’s power of deterrence – for the Palestinians have lost their fear.

Reflections on the ‘Peace Process’

NOVANEWS
Submitted by David Livingstone

How Israel and the Americans foster Islamic fundamentalism to stall peace with the Palestinians and other imperialistic objectives

The Israelis created Hamas.  But before we explore that question, let’s start with a more important one.  Let’s be honest with ourselves.  If we can look at the situation from beyond the confines of current political discourse, and look at the emperor without his “new” clothes, we all know that Israel does not want peace.  They want all of Palestine, and their belligerent settlement practices confirm that.

But the Israelis are taking advantage of the world’s ignorance of the realities in Palestine, and posturing as being willing to talk “peace”, only to actually stall that very peace process, so as not to interrupt the further colonization of Palestine.

So anything that can be offered as an excuse, will be.  The most convenient ploy, presented with the sycophantic assistance of the media, is that of “terrorism”.

But the masses are naive, and fail to suspect the Machiavellian extremes that certain leaders will resort to to aggrandize their power.  This includes creating a false enemy, in this case, Hamas, whereby the right-wing leadership of the Israelis can point the finger to some “enemy” to blame otehr than themselves for supposedly stalling the process.

The use of Islamic terrorism for the political ends of Western nations is nothing new.  After the collapse of the Ottoman Empire in 1924, the British and Americans stepped in to fill the vacuum by providing their own versions of “Islamic” leaders.  This started with the creation of the Muslim Brotherhood, which was created through a grant from the British.  Under British sponsorship, the Brotherhood flourished, and today represents a sizeable and powerful force in the Islamic world, but most worryingly, as the institution behind almost every act of terror in the name of Islam.

More correctly, the Brotherhood has been a tool shared my numerous Western intelligence agencies, starting with the Nazis, followed by the CIA, but also the Russians, French, Germans and Israelis.

Since the Truman and Eisenhower administrations, it has been a staple of foreign policy of the Cold War to exploit the Muslim Brotherhood to rally naive Muslims to reject “atheistic” Communism as an arch enemy of Islam.  Ever since, the Americans and others have been able to manage the Brotherhood like a rabid dog on a leash to keep the Communist threat at bay.

With the collapse of the Cold War however, the Brotherhood has been used for new imperial objectives, where they pose as the bogey man which the Americans can chase with their armies into the Middle East and Central Asia, starting with Iraq and Afghanistan.

But, as NSC official Sheila Haslin explained, in a testimony at Senate hearings into illegal fund-raising activities, US policy in the region was to “promote the independence of these oil-rich countries, to in essence break Russia’s monopoly control over the transportation of oil from that region, and frankly, to promote Western energy security through diversity of supply.”

Israel has also maintained a long-standing relationship with the Muslim Brotherhood, with its most recent manifestation being its participation in the founding of an offshoot organization, Hamas.

According to Robert Dreyfuss, who details the US’ troubling relationship with Islamic fundamentalism, in “Devil’s Game: How the United States Helped Unleash Fundamentalist Islam”:

“And beginning in 1967 through the late 1980s, Israel helped the Muslim Brotherhood establish itself in the occupied territories.  It assisted Ahmed Yassin, the leader of the Brotherhood, in creating Hamas, betting that its Islamist character would weaken the PLO.”

According to Charles Freeman, a veteran US diplomat and former US ambassador to Saudi Arabia, “Israel started Hamas. It was a project of Shin Bet [Isreali domestic intelligence agency], which had a feeling that they could use it to hem in the PLO.”

In 1965, Yassin had been arrested by Egyptian intelligence, but after 1967, when Israel took control of the West Bank and Gaza, Yassin was freed.  In 1973, under approval from Shin Bet, Yassin founded the Islamic Center, and began to establish effective control over hundreds of mosques.  In 1976, Yassin created the Islamic Association, which membership branches throughout the Gaza Srip, and the movement grew.

Israel’s formal support for Islamic fundamentalism came with the election of the right-wing Likud party.  In 1978, Begin’s new government formally licensed Yassin’s Islamic Association, as part of a strategy to undermine the power of the PLO.  One aspect of that strategy was the creation of the Village Leagues, over which Yassin and the Brotherhood exercised much influence.  Up to 200 members of the Leagues were given paramilitary training in Israel, among whom Shin Bet recruited many paid informers.

David Shipler, a former reporter for the New York Times, cites the Israeli military governor of Gaza as boasting that Israel expressly financed the fundamentalists against the PLO:

“Politically speaking, Islamic fundamentalists were sometimes regarded as useful to Israel, because they had conflicts with the secular supporters of the PLO.  Violence between the two groups erupted occasionally on West Bank university campuses, and the Israeli military governor of the Gaza Strip, Brigadier General Yitzhak Segev, once told me how he had financed the Islamic movement as a counterweight to the PLO and the Communists.  ‘The Isreali Government gave me a budget and the military government gives to the mosques,’ he said.”

As Dreyfuss notes, “during the 1980s, the Muslim Brotherhood in Gaza and the West Bank did not support resistance to the Israeli occupation.  Most of its energy went to fighting the PLO, especially its more left-wing factions, on university campuses.”

US diplomats and CIA officials were aware that Israel was fostering Islamic fundamentalism among the Palestinians, but, as noted Martha Kessler, a senior analyst for the CIA, “we saw Israel cultivate Islam as a counterweight to Palestinian nationalism”, but neither the CIA nor the State department did anything about it.

It was primarily Israel’s far right, Begin, Shamir and Ariel Sharon who pursued this policy.  It is with them that we see the very cynical basis for the exploitation of Islamic fundamentalism in the region.  This was explained by Victor Ostrovsky, a former Mossad officer who left the agency and became a strong critic, and wrote two books about the service:

“Supporting the radical elements of Muslim fundamentalism sat well with Mossad’s general plan for the region. An Arab world run by fundamentalists would not be party to any negotiations with the West, thus leaving Israel again as the only democratic, rational country in the region.  And if the Mossad could arrange for Hamas… to take over the Palestinian streets from the PLO, then the picture would be complete.”

Very suspiciously, in 1983, Yassin was arrested by Israeli authorities, but although he was sentenced to 13 years in prison, he was released after only a year.  Then in 1986-7, Yassin founded Hamas.  According to Philip Wilcox, counterterrorism expert a former US ambassador who headed the US consulate in Jerusalem at the time, “there were persistent rumors that the Israeli secret service gave covert support to Hamas, because they were seen as a rival to the PLO.”  Wilcox said the US officials in Jerusalem dealt “regularly and intensively” with Hamas.

After the Palestinian uprising of 1987, the PLO accused Hamas and Yassin of acting “with the direct support of reactionary Arab regimes… in collusion with the Israeli occupation.”  Yasser Arafat complained to an Italian newspaper: “Hamas is a creation of Israel, which at the time of Prime Minister Shamir, gave them money and more than 700 institutions, among them schools, universities and mosques.”  Arafat also maintained that Israeli prime minister Rabin admitted to him in the presence of Hosni Mubarak that Israel had supported Hamas.

Essentially, as analyst Ray Hannania pointed out, in “Sharon’s Terror Child”, published in Counterpunch, “undermining the peace process has always been the real target of Hamas and has played into the political ambitions of Likud.  Every time Israeli and Palestinian negotiators appeared ready to take a major step forward achieving peace, an act of Hamas terrorism has scuttled the peace process and pushed the two sides apart.”

This pattern continued throughout the shifting developments of the stalled peace process.  In 2001, when the PLO secured a Hamas pledge to halt its terrorist attacks, then prime minister Ariel Sharon ordered the assassinations of one of their top officials.  As Alex Fishman commented in the Israeli newspaper Yediot Achronot, “whoever gave the green light to this act of liquidation knew full well that he was thereby shattering in one blow the gentlemen’s agreement between Hamas and the Palestinian Authority”.

In “Hamas and the Transformation of Political Islam in Palestine”, for Current History, Sara Roy wrote:

“Some analysts maintain that while Hamas leaders are being targeted, Israel is simultaneously pursuing its old strategy of promoting Hamas over the secular nationalist factions as a way of ensuring the ultimate demise of the [Palestinian Authority], and as an effort to extinguish Palestinian nationalism once and for all.”

Essentially, the Muslim Brotherhood, with its many manifestations like Al Qaeda and bin Laden, serve as a Samuel Goldstein of Orwell’s Nineteen-Eighty-Four, an ever-present and manufactured “terrorist” threat, used constantly as a pretext to justify repressive measures at home and expanded imperialistic objectives abroad.

Because, despite all the rhetoric employed in the War on Terror about the threat of “political Islam”, unbeknownst to the general public, the manipulation of the Muslim Brotherhood throughout the world is still a mainstay of American foreign policy.

According to Reuel Marc Gerecht, a former CIA officer with experience in Iraq and the Middle East, as well as a neo-conservative hardliner with the notorious American Enterprise Institute:

Most American liberals and conservatives will strongly resist the idea that Islam’s clergymen and lay fundamentalists, who usually dislike, if not detest, the United States, Israel, and progressive causes like women’s rights, are the key to liberating the Muslim Middle East from its age-old reflexive hostility to the West.  There men, not the much admired liberal Muslim secularists who are always praised and sometimes defended by the American government and press, are the United States’ most valuable potential democratic allies.”

As Robert Dreyfuss ends his book, “the devil’s game continues.”

‘Collusion’ against Pak-Iranian Relations

NOVANEWS
By Sajjad Shaukat

Pak-Iranian relations are rapidly strengthening day by day. During the visit of Iran’s Vice President for International Affairs Ali Seedlou, both the countries signed three agreements on November 13, this year as part of Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) to promote economic cooperation, timely completion of Iran-Pakistan (IP) gas pipeline project and electricity import from Iran. Both the sides agreed to increase bilateral trade to $5 billion mark.

Iran which already completed its portion of gas pipeline has decided to invest $500 million assistance in building Pakistani part of the project. In this respect, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is also visit Pakistan.

In the third trilateral summit at Islamabad, on February 17, 2012, Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Afghan President Hamid Karzai put their heads together to forge regional cooperation in multifaceted areas. They pledged to eradicate terrorism and militancy from the region.

In response to Karzai’s blame game regarding cross-border terrorism, Zardari had clarified, “I deny this notion that any of our armed forces are directly or indirectly involved.” He stated, without naming America, “Who was the owner and financer of former chief of Tehreek-e-Talban Pakistan Baitulllah Mahsood.”

Zardari vowed to fight US pressure on the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline, saying that the “external forces can not undermine bilateral relations.” Notably, Pakistan also assured to support Tehran, if the US or Israel launches a military attack on Iran. While hinting towards the US, the Iranian president revealed that the problem in the region had no local roots, but it was imposed from external fronts.

In fact, Pakistan and Iran are quite sincere about regional cooperation among the three countries including stability in Afghanistan, but Hamid Karzai has been implementing American secret diplomacy in the region.

However, Pak-Iranian relationship cannot be seen in isolation as it relates to major powers. In this regard, after the withdrawal of NATO troops from Afghanistan in 2014, US which signed an agreement of strategic cooperation with Kabul has decided to establish six military bases in Afghanistan, having eyes on the energy resources of Central Asia, with multiple strategic designs against Pakistan, Iran, China, and Russia. In this context, on January 5, 2012, US President Obama unveiled a new defence strategy which calls for greater US military presence in Asia.

Besides China, Pakistan has also cultivated its relationship with the Russian Federation. In this respect, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov visited Islamabad on October 3 and on the same day, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Gen. Ashfaq Pervez Kayani left for Moscow. The main aim of these visits was the reorientation of Pak-Russian Relationship by concluding strategic partnership in the long run.

In 2010, President Putin publicly endorsed Pakistan bid to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) which includes Russia, China, four Central Asian Republics as permenent members, and Pakistan and Iran as observers. Pakistan’s President Zardari participated in the summit of the SCO held in Beijing, this year. In their speeches, hinting towards US secret designs, Chinese president Hu Jintao and President Putin stated, “Only when SCO member states remain united can they effectively cope with emerging challenges-enhancing security cooperation.”

In various summits, the SCO leaders displayed strength against the US rising dominance in the region and military presence in Afghanistan, near Central Asia.

Nevertheless, US new defence strategy is part of Indo-US hidden agenda in Afghanistan. First of all US seeks to protect the puppet regime of Karzai and Indian influence in Afghanistan under the umbrella of its military presence because it knows that otherwise, Taliban militants will topple the Karzai regime, also forcing India to withdraw its network from Afghanistan. India which has already invested billion of dollars in Afghanistan, signed a strategic partnership agreement with that country on on october 5, 2011, wants to further fortify its grip there to get strategic depth against Islamabad.

US bases in Afghanistan and the Gulf will also enhance its ability to gather intelligence on Iran. In December, 2011, Iranian authorities recovered a CIA surveillance drone which had been launched from Afghanistan. Although US President Barrack Obama has asked Israel to postpone invasion of Tehran, yet a war-like situation exists between Iran and America over the nuclear programme of Tehran, which is for energy-purposes. In the recent past, Russia and China rejected US-led western sanctions against Iran and asked America to resolve the question of Iran’s nuclear programme peacefully.

It is notable that US which signed a nuclear deal with India in 2008, intends to make India a super power of Asia to contain China and destablise Pakistan as well as Iran. Balochistan where China has invested billion of dollars to develop Gwadar seaport is considered a greater threat by these hostile powers.

Meanwhile, during the visit of Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Gen. Kayani to Kabul, Pakistan, ISAF and Afghanistan on November 20, this year signed an agreement of the Tripartite Border Coordination Mechanism in the wake of cross-border firing and militant infiltration from the Afghan side. But US is playing double game with Islamabad. Sometimes, it praises Pak sacrifices regarding war on terror, sometimes, admits that stability cannot be achieved in Afghanistan without the help of Pakistan after the withdrawal of foreign troops, sometimes, realises that US wants to work to put its relationship with Pakistan on a stronger footing, also requesting the latter to play key role for Afghan peace deal with the Taliban, but at the same time, it blames Islamabad for safe-havens of militants and cross-border attacks in Afghanistan.

Especially, US has been supporting cross-border infiltration in Pakistan with the assistance of American CIA, Indian intelligence agency, RAW and Israeli secret agency, Mossad which have well-established their network in Afghanistan to ‘denuclearise’ Pakistan. For this purpose highly trained militants, equipped with sophisticated weapons are being sent to Pakistan, who are regularly conducting subversive acts and sectarian violence in various regions of the country.

Besides, reality behind the deteriorating situation and the missing persons of Balochistan is that CIA, RAW and Mossad have perennial been backing bomb blasts, suicide attacks, abductions, target killings, ethnic and sectarian violence in Balochistan through their affiliated militant groups such as Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), Jundollah (God’s soldiers), and Baloch feudal lords (Sardars) in order to fulfill their secret strategic designs so as to dismember Pakistan and Iran.

Pakistan’s Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik disclosed in his recent statements that he showed proof about training camps being run in Afghanistan, and supply of arms and ammunition by the Afghan government to Baloch separatists inside Balochistan.

However, BLA and Jundollah are also working against the cordial relationship of Pakistan with Iran and China. In the past few years, their militants kidnapped and killed many Iranian and Chinese nationals in Pakistan. Notably, Jundullah conducted several subversive acts in the Iranian Sistan-Baluchistan. Particularly, Tehran has repeatedly pointed out US and CIA for patronage and funding of those terrorist attacks.

In this context, the former Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi had stated, “It is obvious that the same forces which are working in Pakistani Balochistan are also working in Iranian Sistan.”  While, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei had indicated, “The bloody actions being committed in Iraq, Pakistan and Iran are aimed at creating a division between the Shias and Sunnis…those who carry out these terrorist actions are directly or indirectly foreign agents.”

It is mentionable that on February 8, 2012, the hearing of the US Congress Committee on Foreign Affairs, chaired by Dana Rohrabacher favoured an independent Balochistan. And military scholar Lt. Col. Ralph Peters, while writing in the June 2006 issue of The Armed Forces Journal of the US had suggested Washington about the creation of a “Greater Balochistan” which would integrate the Baloch areas of Pakistan with those of Iran—and the Frontier Province should be incorporated into Afghanistan.

Nonetheless, although Pakistan and Iran seek to further strengthen their cooperation, yet US, India and Israel intend to weaken their relations as part of the collusion.
