Only an international force can save Libya

Libya disintegrationBy Nureddin Sabir
Editor, Redress Information & Analysis

Libya’s lackadaisical prime minister is inching towards reality, but his awakening is too slow and is perhaps too late to prevent the country from slipping into the abyss.

Speaking at an investment conference in London, Ali Zidan appealed to the outside world to help restore security as Libya rapidly slides into chaos thanks to the criminal negligence of his “government”, which has allowed criminal and Islamist armed groups to paralyse the country.

A spineless whimp

“If the international community does not help in the collection of arms and ammunition, if we don’t get help in forming the army and the police, things are going to take very long,” Zidan bleated.

“The situation is not going to improve unless we get real and practical assistance,” he whinged, without explaining what is stopping him from getting help – it is not that Libya is short of money.

However, true to form, he nullified his apparent new-found realism, insisting that he still wanted to solve the crisis through dialogue rather than force.

“We are going to work on solving this problem,” he crowed, adding: “When blood is shed, the loss will be greater”.

How much more blood must Libyans shed before Zidan and his likes realize two inescapable facts: first, the problem of the criminal and Islamist armed groups masquerading as “revolutionaries” can be solved only by brute force and, second, Libyans are incapable of solving this problem – or any problem – on their own.

Predictable catastrophe

Almost a year ago we predicted that the violence and anarchy afflicting Libya will not only continue but will get much worse:

Libya will continue its inexorable descent into chaos and violence, unless the international community – the Arab League, the Organization of the Islamic Conference, the United Nations or even the devil himself, it no longer matters – acknowledge our lamentable reality and dispatch a sizable peacekeeping force to establish law and order, disarm the militias – by force if necessary – and give the nascent Libyan authorities a chance to grow up, look in the mirror and live up to their responsibilities. The post-Gaddafi Libyan authorities, from the National Transitional Council to the recently formed government of Prime Minister Ali Zidan, have a uniquely idiotic security concept: building an army composed of a coalition of “approved militias”. This will not work. WIth 1,700 militias plaguing the country and respecting no one, it is a recipe for endemic violence and a complete breakdown of society.

If Libya is to survive as a state, then steps must be taken right now to mobilize an international peacekeeping force and authorize it to intervene to disarm the militias, bring about security and train an army and police force. It is better to bite the bullet, swallow our pride as Libyans and do this now before it is too late.

It is a warning we repeated last May as we reminded the world that Libya was headed for self-destruction. Since then matters have gone from bad to worse, and today the country is completely out of control with the authorities not even able to control the oilfields and oil refineries.

If the world does not care about what Libyans do to themselves, then surely the world must be concerned about the consequences of the disintegration of Libya for its neighbours far and close…

Time for intervention

As we have stated repeatedly, it is in nobody’s interest for Libya to disintegrate, Somalia-like. What passes for a “government” in Libya has proved beyond any doubt that it is incapable of providing security for Libyans.

If the world does not care about what Libyans do to themselves, then surely the world must be concerned about the consequences of the disintegration of Libya for its neighbours far and close – not just in North and sub-Saharan Africa, but also in Europe.

European countries, acting through the United Nations, at least have a responsibility to protect their own citizens from the poisonous cauldron that is brewing and overflowing in Libya.

There is absolutely no point wasting time waiting for the likes of Zidan – or any other Libyan who might replace him – bring about law and order to the country. He will not, and his half-hearted bleating for help in London underlines that. It is time for the UN Security Council to bite the bullet, invoke Chapter VII of the UN Charter and immediately dispatch a stabilization force to Libya with a mandate to crush the armed militias by force.

There is no point consulting or seeking the permission of the Libyan government. It does not exist.

Government Employees In London Protest Fingerprint “Clock In” Scanners

The British government is forcing some public employees to clock in with fingerprint scanners

By JG Vibes

On Thursday, hundreds of tunnel workers plan on refusing to cooperate with a new fingerprint clock-in system.  After the measure was announced the workers took a vote, resulting in an overwhelming 98% majority voting to reject the new system.

The following notice was posted to their website:

“We congratulate our members on their determination to resist this draconian attack on civil liberties. We instruct our members to take industrial action short of strikes from 00:01 on Thursday 19 September 2013 until further notice, by booking on and off duty using the established method and not using the biometric machines.”[1]

The employees are still planning on coming to work, but will use the traditional hand written time cards that they have used in the past, instead of signing in with fingerprint scanners.

“We believe this technology infringes on staff civil liberties and the overwhelming vote in favor of action shows our members’ strength of feeling on this issue,” said Bob Crow, RMT’s general secretary.

But Adam Wurf, communications director for ISS UK told the BBC: “With this technology we will be able to guarantee that the member of staff is who they say they are.”

“We don’t think this is draconian or an infringement of civil liberties; it’s about making sure we have the right people – verified and trained – in the right place at the right time.”[2]

When governments roll out these plans they always have an excuse, and will always say that it is in the public’s best interest.  However, if 98% of workers who will be affected are opposed to this measure, there is obviously a reason.  Fingerprint scanning technology and biometric tracking are very controversial topics right now, with many people from many different walks of life rejecting this technology.

Miss California Spews Propaganda – Doesn’t Mind if Syria is Attacked

The last ‘Miss California’ also proved she lacks critical mental capacity, by believing that ‘euthanasia’ was a type of vaccine.

Miss California (Image:

By Cassius Methyl

Miss California has created an outrage in the realm of sane, intelligent people, by basically saying we should bomb Syria, and praising American Imperialism, which she clearly knows nothing about.

Her exact words were,  ”I believe as one of the most powerful countries in the world, we do have an ethical obligation to prevent, you know, a leader of a country who is using chemical weapons on his people. I believe, we should use, um, you know, congressional, uh, support, if we can, and refer to the UN, cause this is something we all need to handle together”.

Complete with all the ‘uh’s’ and ‘um’s’, yes, she actually said that.

Never mind that there is no evidence that Assad used the chemical weapons, or the fact that the UN and US government have more blood of innocent people on their hands than any body of people on the planet in recent history.

Clearly, she has an elementary perception of what is going on in the world, and she has no idea what she is talking about at all.

In all likeliness, she was probably paid to say almost exactly this. Her words sound too similar to the lines of BS fed to us  concerning issues like this, by politicians, or indoctrinating American public school textbooks.

Miss California’s audience responded with cheers, apparently having no idea what is going on in the world either. It seems they live in an illusion, where the US government is good and all-powerful, where the dollar cannot collapse, where WWIII cannot begin because of the bloodthirsty federal reserve wielding elitists.

Again, the last ‘Miss California’ once thought that ‘euthanasia’ was a type of vaccine. The followers of these pageants, and the models themselves, desperately need to wake up and learn what is really going on.

Please share this with as many people as possible, because it is an excellent example of mainstream media trying to manufacture consent for violence.

Project MKUltra Exposed by DoD Whistleblower

Project MKUltra is the code name of a U.S. government covert human research operation experimenting in the behavioral engineering of humans (mind control) through the CIA’s Scientific Intelligence Division. The program began in the early 1950s, was officially sanctioned in 1953, was reduced in scope in 1964, further curtailed in 1967 and officially halted in 1973.[1] […] Project MKUltra was first brought to public attention in 1975 by the Church Committee of the U.S. Congress, and a Gerald Ford commission to investigate CIA activities within the United States. Investigative efforts were hampered by the fact that CIA Director Richard Helms ordered all MKUltra files destroyed in 1973; the Church Committee and Rockefeller Commission investigations relied on the sworn testimony of direct participants and on the relatively small number of documents that survived Helms’ destruction order. Source: Project MKUltra[1]

Describing Project MKUltra and the CIA Program Project Sedgwick, which is described as Phase II of Project MKUltra, Robert Connors warns, “Unfortunately, the last decade of my career, I have seen and been a part of one of the biggest threats to this great nation and its citizens.”[2]

He goes on to say, “In March of 1994, I was brought in as Director of Communications for a project called Operation Sedgwick, formed under President Ronald Wilson Reagan in 1989. This program was the second stage in the project called MKUltra. Its focus and sole purpose was the control of the African-American population and urban youth through music.”[3]

Adding to the authenticity of the video, Mr. Robert Connors says at the beginning, of the video, “I’m showing my face and I will reveal my name for my own protection. If something were to happen to me, you know it was not an accident.”  In an appeal directly to the DoD and CIA agents worldwide, Robert informs the DoD that he has a number of video and audio recordings that his division was ordered to destroy, which he couldn’t do in good conscience.

Robert then goes on to inform the DoD that they have until September 23, 2013 to release information on Project Sedgwick, or he will be forced to release via YouTube, the evidence he has in his possession. Courageously, Robert also asks coworkers in his department to join him in exposing the lies perpetrated by the government.

Lastly, Robert gives brief details of the death of Tupac Shakur and hints at widespread assassination of music industry performers, as well as, in his own words, “entities beyond the federal government and this world.” will continue to monitor this news as it develops. Any information relating to this story can be confidentially emailed to or submittedhere.

In what sounds clearly like the voice of Michael Jackson, the transcript of the audio recording:

“I don’t know if I should tell you this. I don’t know who may be listening. There may be a group of people…they want to get rid of me. I can’t talk about it over the phone. I don’t know what’s going to happen, I just feel…in my soul. Only God knows. They could shoot me, they could stab me, they could frame me and say I overdosed on drugs. They can do a lot of things. It’s not the government. It’s more than the government. But I don’t know, I don’t care about my life anymore, I just want my children to be okay, my little angels. I want them to be safe.”

Kerry: Syria Has ‘One Week’ to Cough-Up Chemical Weapons List

In an interesting change of events likely laced with political window dressing, U.S. and Russian officials strike a deal with Syria.

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND — Sunday, officials from the United States and Russian Governments came to an agreement that will force the Syrian’s to produce an extensive and complete list of their chemical weapons stockpile to the international community.

“Diplomacy requires willing partners”, said Sen. John Kerry, thanking Russian President Putin after the two countries agreed on a new timeline. Although some say the Syrian’s won’t make the deadline whether by choice or not, prompting a future U.S. strike.

While it looks as if the Syrian Government is doing everything in its power to maintain innocence, the opposition is making waves.

CNN Staff reported, “The Syrian regime recently created the “national reconciliation” post to send a message that it wants to end the brutal violence that has led to more than 100,000 deaths, according to U.N. estimates.

The opposition ridiculed the post as mere window dressing. Haidar is not part of President Bashar al-Assad’s inner circle and does not speak for the entire regime.

And in Israel, where he met Sunday with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry told reporters that “the threat of force remains” to make sure Syria follows through with the agreement.”[1]

The truth of the matter is, millions and millions of dollars have already been spent positioning allied military forces as some see the writing is clearly on the wall.

“The U.S. and Russia are committed to the elimination of Syrian chemical weapons in the soonest and safest manner. We agreed that Syria must submit a list of its chemical weapons in one week, not thirty days”, stated Kerry from Geneva, reenforcing the timeline which will likely become an issue down the road.

Kerry also called for the “expeditious destruction and stringent verification of syrian chemical weapons” before the community. Kerry went on, in the “interest of accountability” the Organization for the Prevention of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) will need the ”immediate and unfeathered right to inspect any and all sites in Syria” as the talks and procedures move forth.

As of now it’s planned that the OPCW will be in charge of future inspections. “In the event of non-compliance…. actions will speak more than words”, Kerry stated.

Kerry also said that an agreement has been made by the international community to destroy any and all chemical weapons found. reported, “An American official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity under State Department protocol, said the United States and Russia had agreed that Syria has 1,000 tons of chemical weapons, including sarin and mustard gas.

The United States believes at least 45 sites in Syria are associated with its chemical weapons program. Nearly half of these have “exploitable quantities” of chemical weapons, though the American official said the Assad government may have moved some of the agents.

The American official said there was no indication that any of Syria’s chemical stocks had been moved to Iraq or Lebanon, as the Syrian opposition had charged. “We believe they are under regime control,” the official said.”[2]

“I also want to be clear about the endgame here”, Kerry said, this agreement can become an “international standard” or an “international norm”.

Opponents of war are still leery of the new deal ambitious which calls for the removal of all chemical weapons from Syria by 2014.

ON AIPAC And Patriotism

By Gilad Atzmon

In the next few days and completely against the will of the American people, hundreds of AIPAC activists will raid the American Congress to push for a war. Nothing new in that but still, one question  bothers me: How many of these pro-war Jews have sent their own sons and daughters to serve in the American military?

Bearing in mind that pretty much the same Lobby pushed for the invasion of Iraq in 2003, one might wonder whether Jews were fairly represented in the military forces or in the casualty statistics of that military blunder. I’d guess they were not.  It seems that the enthusiasm of the Lobby in pushing for wars for America doesn’t translate much into patriotism or sacrifice. The Lobby indeed pushes for wars, but somehow it’s always the gentiles who do the killing and the  dying.

In Britain it’s much the same. David Aaronovitch and Nick Cohen, both leading advocates within the British media for intervention in Iraq 2003 didn’t use many column inches in the Jewish Chronicle persuading young Jews to join the British Navy or the SAS. Like their American counterparts, they believed that ‘moral’ intervention was necessary but it was the Scottish, English and Welsh boys and girls that took care of it for them.

And what about arch interventionist Bernard Henri Levy, the so-called philosopher who ‘liberated Libya as a Jew’, did he call for Jews to join the French legions? I don’t think so.

Here we see a clear discrepancy between the contemporary Jewish right wing appetite for immoral interventionist wars and a general absence of patriotism amongst the Jewish masses. This surely demands an explanation.  Is this really parasitic aggression on AIPAC’s part? Do they really try to send America into a Zionist war yet refrain from sending their kids to the same war?  Or is it that AIPAC and the other belligerent Jewish lobbies are totally detached from the Jewish masses who are uninterested in these expansionist wars and violence. Or is it that American Jews, don’t mind one bit watching the Jewish lobby pushing for a war on their behalf, yet, for obvious reasons, they prefer to stay out of danger.

I don’t know the answers to these troubling questions; I am neither a sociologist nor a political scientist but I would suggest that AIPAC and the other Jewish lobbies are playing a very dangerous game that may put all  American Jews in grave danger.

If Jews are concerned about anti-Semitism (and they should be), they’d better tale a look at AIPAC’s actions and contemplate the possibly catastrophic outcome.

Obama’s Contras: The Syrian ‘Rebels’

The rebel cannibal who ate the heart of a captive – he’s a “moderate,” don’tcha know!

A Note to My Readers

I apologize to my readers for the absence of a column today: I’m a bit under the weather. Indeed, that’s all I have the strength to give by way of an explanation. See you on Friday!

Anyone who thinks the US regime change operation in Syria is finished hasn’t been keeping up with the news.

Yes, the President and his interventionist advisors – notably Secretary of State John Kerry and US ambassador to the UN Samantha Power – have been rebuked by Congress and the American people: there will be no “shock and awe” over Damascus any time soon. The US military, for its part, has also signaled its displeasure at being asked to fight yet another futile Middle East war. Yet that hardly means the War Party has given up: far from it.

US-Saudi covert action in the Syrian civil war picked up just as Obama balked in the face of public outrage and just before the announcement that an agreement had been reached to dismantle Bashar al-Assad’s chemical weapons arsenal. On September 11, the Washington Post reported:

“The CIA has begun delivering weapons to rebels in Syria, ending months of delay in lethal aid that had been promised by the Obama administration, according to U.S. officials and Syrian figures. The shipments began streaming into the country over the past two weeks, along with separate deliveries by the State Department of vehicles and other gear – a flow of material that marks a major escalation of the US role in Syria’s civil war.”

Track one – direct US military intervention – has been effectively derailed, at least for the moment; however, this just means track two – a years-long effort to build up Syrian opposition forces – has been accelerated. The much-vaunted “moderate” rebel forces are getting $250 million in aid, including “light” weapons and ammunition, as well as “management” training in local governance. The idea is to focus on communities where al-Nusra, the Al Qaeda affiliate in Syria, is strong, so as to buttress supposedly “emerging moderate leaders.”

That’s the theory: the practice, however, is quite another matter.

US aid is handled by the Syrian Support Group, a nonprofit organization which has the official Syrian rebel franchise: in short, SSG is the Daddy Warbucks of the rebel movement. According to Mother Jones reporter Dana Liebelson, Daddy is very laid back in his accounting and auditing methods. As her revealing piece informs us, the so-called vetting process is left largely up to local commanders, who may or may not be “extremists” themselves.

There is no governmental body in charge of oversight: all US aid is sent “directly to Syria’s Supreme Military Council,” which in theory commands the loosely-organized “Free Syrian Army.” SSG simply ships supplies, now including weapons, to US-Saudi-run warehouses, based in Turkey and Jordan, where the Supreme Council hands them out.

Dan Layman, the SSG’s official lobbyist, explains how the system is supposed to work:

“’A commander from a particular area will authorize a group of soldiers to go to a Supreme Military Council warehouse, and then write a detailed receipt saying this unit picked up three crates of MRE rations from the warehouse,’ Layman explains. The receipts are signed by the commander of the unit picking up the supplies and the local warehouse director, who is also under the command of the Supreme Military Council. Layman notes that his organization confers with senior commanders daily and has a staffer in Syria (a former Pentagon employee) who is responsible for oversight.”

We are assured by the Syrian National Coalition – yet another component of the rebels’ labyrinthine organizational chart – that “every FSA brigade must meet certain conditions, including abiding by the FSA’s constitution, not having children or foreigners in their units, and accepting regular audits by the Supreme Military Council and countries providing aid.”

In short: some guys show up at the SSG warehouse and hand the spooks in charge a note from a local commander requesting certain items: the warehouse supervisors hand the Syrian supplicants the supplies – say, materials for making a car bomb of the sort that enabled a suicide attack which blew up the headquarters of Syrian intelligence last year – along with a receipt. The local commander then writes up a report saying what has been received and by whom.

The problem is that the alleged division between “moderates” and “extremists” exists only in the minds of the SSG and their backers in the US Congress, Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham. On the battlefield these groups intermingle and are essentially indistinguishable in the chaos of combat.

One example: the recent siege of Maaloula, where both the Free Syrian Army and Al-Nusra, along with other radical Islamist militias, united to “liberate” one of the oldest Christian communities in the Middle East. “Convert [to Islam] or you will be beheaded,” the rebel fighters told the inhabitants – who subsequently fled en masse as the rebels desecrated ancient monuments and terrorized nuns holed up at the St. Taklas monastery.

Those rebels shown in a New York Times video executing Syrian soldiers after torturing them – those were FSA “moderates.” And remember the Syrian rebel cannibal who filmed himself eating the heart – or was it a liver? – of a captive soldier? “With the guy who was eating a heart, he was part of a moderate faction,” says Layman, but “we work with [Supreme Military Council head Gen. Salim] Idris and let him know that he needs to prevent these things.”

Good luck with that!

The “vetting process” much touted by the administration, as well as Senators McCain and Graham, is basically an act of faith – a de facto mirage, which is further clouded by the heavy involvement of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and others less interested in the ideological-theological correctness of the rebel fighters than they are in quickly and effectively deposing the Assad regime.

While we are told the FSA “moderates” are numerically stronger, the reality on the ground is that the radical Islamists are hardened veterans of many conflicts, fromLibya to Chechnya to Iraq (where they fought and killed US soldiers under the tutelage of Al Qaeda-in-Iraq). The US has set up a secret training camp in Jordan, with the cooperation of the Saudis and Qataris, but so far only 300 “vetted” fighters have been sent onto the battlefield. It may be too much to expect the rebels to deny US-supplied weapons and other materials to their best fighters.

Qatar is a major funding source for the radicals, and they are going all out in giving not only political support – via Al Jazeera, which is owned by the Qatari Emir – but also arming groups that don’t meet Western or even Saudi standards. As the Wall Street Journal reports:

“In Jordan, officials said they couldn’t yet tell whether the joint operation has reaped success in sifting moderate Syrian rebels from the extremists. Some said they couldn’t rule out the possibility some Saudi funds and arms were being funneled to radicals on the side, simply to counter the influence of rival Islamists backed by Qatar. US officials said they couldn’t rule out that mistakes would be made.”

The last time we made a “mistake” of that magnitude US aid to the Afghanmujahideen gave birth to Al Qaeda. In Libya, too, Benghazi was yet another lesson in the consequences of “blowback.” Yet we refuse to learn the lesson of these “mistakes” – which leads one to believe that either these people are really quite thick, or that these aren’t “mistakes” at all but rather a grotesque experiment in the tradition of Dr. Frankenstein.

Slithering around under this particular rock is the peripatetic Prince Bandar bin Sultan al-Saud, former Saudi ambassador to the US and now chief of Saudi intelligence. Bandar is the legendary “fixer” whose close relationship with the Bush family and access to almost unlimited oil money greased the skids for the expanding influence of the Saudi lobby in Washington. The Prince, you’ll recall, played a similar role infunneling cash and weaponry to the Nicaraguan contras in the 1980s – an operation that tried to end-run Congress and wound up tarring the Reagan administration in a major scandal. Bandar was also the key link in the scheme to arm the Afghanmujahideen – a project that culminated in the birth of Al Qaeda.

The American people rose and said: No war in Syria! They stopped the War Party dead in its tracks – but track two, the covert operation, is still very much in the works. Yet the people have an option in this case, too: they can demand their representatives in Congress put an end to this dangerous and illegal operation. The House, which isstrongly opposed to a US strike on Syria, has the power to defund this nonsense once and for all.

So what’s stopping them? Only public ignorance of what’s being done behind the backs of the American people. Yet when the “blowback” blows up in our faces, you can be sure of one thing: no one in government will be held accountable.
