Hate preacher Abu Hamza’s most trusted lieutenant will be kicked out of Britain to face terror charges in America, it was revealed today.

Following a High Court hearing in London judges have given Home Secretary Theresa May the go ahead to extradite mentally-ill Broadmoor patient Haroon Aswat.

European judges had ruled last year that the 34-year-old terror suspect, from Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, could not be deported because it would be bad for his mental health.

He said if extradited and convicted he would be at risk of ill-treatment inside the so-called supermax prison ADX Florence, in Colorado.

The prison, which is surrounded by desert, and known as the ‘Alcatraz of the Rockies’ and is home to 400 of America’s most dangerous convicts, where they live in a cramped cell measuring 12ft by 7ft.

Hamza and four other terror suspects were extradited two years ago after the European Court of Human Rights rejected their appeal against the move.

Hamza, Babar Ahmad, Seyla Talha Ahsan, Adel Abdul Bary and Khaled Al-Fawwaz were all then removed from the country.

But Aswat’s case was adjourned to allow judges more time to consider his mental health.

Mr Justice Mitting, sitting at the High Court with The Lord Chief Justice, Lord Thomas, found there was 'no risk at all' of inhuman treatment in the U.S.

Today, Mr Justice Mitting, sitting at the High Court with The Lord Chief Justice, Lord Thomas, found there was ‘no risk at all’ of inhuman treatment in the U.S.

The pair dismissed Aswat’s bid to delay extradition.

Aswat, who was born in Batley, West Yorkshire, now faces imminent removal to the USA and a three week trial for terror offences.

He was transferred from prison to Broadmoor in 2008 suffering with paranoid schizophrenia.

Hamza, who was serving a seven-year sentence in Britain for soliciting to murder and inciting racial hatred when he was extradited, has denied 11 counts of criminal conduct related to the taking of 16 hostages in Yemen in 1998 and advocating violent jihad in Afghanistan in 2001.

He is also accused of conspiring to establish the Oregon-based jihad training camp between June 2000 and December 2001.

Home Office officials said later that the case could yet be heard by the Supreme Court.

They said pending any Supreme Court application by Aswat’s lawyers, extradition arrangements would be made.

‘We are pleased the court has upheld the Home Secretary’s decision to extradite Haroon Aswat to the United States,’ said a Home Office spokesman.

‘The court agreed that the American authorities had provided sufficient assurances over the conditions in which Aswat would be held in the U.S.

‘Aswat’s legal team has been given an opportunity to seek leave to appeal to the Supreme Court. Subject to any application, arrangements will now be made for his extradition.’

Two British researchers have ‘disappeared’ in Qatar after being harassed and followed by plain clothes police, according to a human rights group.

Researcher Krishna Upadhyaya, 52, and photographer Ghimire Gundev, 36, from London, were due to fly from Doha to London on Sunday but failed to arrive at the airport.

The Global Network for Rights and Development (GNRD) said the pair – who had been looking in to reports of poor treatment of Nepalese migrant workers as Qatar prepares to stage the football World Cup in 2022 – had ‘feared they might be in danger’ after being harassed by police and had decided to leave the country when they disappeared.

The Foreign Office said it is aware of reports of one missing British national.

A statement from GNRD, based in Norway, said it ‘holds Qatari authorities responsible for the security and safety of its kidnapped employees’.

Ala Abu Dakka, a programme manager at the NGO, said staff were working tirelessly to locate the pair.

‘It has been four days now and we are still putting pressure on the Qatari authorities to disclose where they are,’ he said.

‘We do believe that they have an idea of where they are because they were being followed by plain clothes police.

‘They were being harassed by police before they disappeared. They were very worried and feared they might be in danger.

‘We told them to leave Qatar for their safety to avoid the situation we have now. They were due to fly to London and on to Norway.

‘We are very concerned about their welfare. We think they are being investigated in unknown circumstances.’

The pair arrived in the country on August 27 and were due to stay up to one week but reported their fears on Saturday.

Mr Gundev’s family in both Nepal and Europe called for the immediate release of the ‘loving father of two’.

In a statement they said: ‘He is a kind-hearted man who is always interested in helping the disabled and poor.

‘He is indirectly or directly involved personally in many social-welfare works in Nepal helping people understand their human rights.’

GNRD said it is prepared to take legal action against Qatari authorities.

Contaminated burgers made in Poland for UK supermarkets contained horse and beef ‘offcuts’ for up to a year

By ANNA EDWARDS

A mixture of beef and horse offcuts found in contaminated burgers sold in supermarkets could have been used for a year, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) has said today.

The contaminated meat was in the form of blocks of frozen product from a Polish supplier which had been used for a year, FSA chief executive Catherine Brown told the Commons Environment Committee.

Investigations are going on into how long contaminated meat might have been in use, Ms Brown told MPs.

Burgers were pulled off the shelves at Tesco

Burgers were pulled off the shelves at Tesco after the supermarket discovered that there were traces of horse meat in their products

Asked how UK consumers could know if horse meat had not been in burgers ‘for months, if not years’, Ms Brown replied: ‘We haven’t (in the past) identified horsemeat in burgers as a likely significant risk in this country, and therefore it is possible… and that’s why I’m saying that it’s very important now that we get to the bottom of the Polish connection and the Irish investigation because it is possible that these burgers have been on sale in this country.

‘The probable limit of possibility… is a year because it’s been a year that this supplier has been supplying.

‘And therefore when the Polish get to the bottom of this we will hope to know whether it’s likely that this has been going on for a year.’

Meat in Tesco burgers which was found to contain horse DNA did not come from a list of approved suppliers, the supermarket also admitted today.

The meat also came from outside the UK or Ireland, which was contrary to the supermarket’s policy.

The supermarket has now dropped its frozen burger supplier, Silvercrest, following what it termed a ‘breach of trust’.

It has vowed to introduce a DNA testing system on meat products to ‘ensure the quality’ of the food on its shelves in the wake of the scandal that has disgusted customers.

It said: ‘We now understand – with as much certainty as possible – what happened.

‘The evidence tells us that our frozen burger supplier, Silvercrest, used meat in our products that did not come from the list of approved suppliers we gave them.

‘Nor was the meat from the UK or Ireland, despite our instruction that only beef from the UK and Ireland should be used in our frozen beefburgers.

‘Consequently we have decided not to take products from that supplier in future. We took that decision with regret but the breach of trust is simply too great.’

Tesco was forced to issue a public apology earlier this month after tests in Ireland discovered traces of horse meat in three frozen beefburger lines.

The findings sparked a national outcry and 10 million burgers were pulled from shelves as a result of the scandal.

The supermarket launched an investigation into how the meat ended up in stores in the UK and Ireland on January 16.

Silvercrest

Dropped: Tesco says it has dropped supplier Silvercrest Foods after the ‘breach of trust’

Today it promised to set a ‘new standard’ with the introduction of a testing system designed to detect ‘any deviation from our high standards’.

It issued a statement saying: ‘We made a commitment to customers to investigate thoroughly and share the findings with them. Since then, we have been working hard to understand what happened and how we can stop it ever happening again.’

It added: ‘Ultimately Tesco is responsible for the food we sell, so it is not enough just to stop using the supplier.

‘We have a well-equipped, expert technical team and world-class checks in place but we will not take anything for granted after this incident.

‘It has shown that, in spite of our stringent tests, checks and controls there remained a small possibility that something could go wrong and it did. We want to stop it ever happening again, so we are taking action to reduce that possibility still further.

‘To underpin the strong measures already in place, we will now introduce a comprehensive system of DNA testing across our meat products. This will identify any deviation from our high standards.

‘These checks will set a new standard.

‘It will be a significant investment for Tesco, borne by Tesco. We want to leave customers in no doubt that we will do whatever it takes to ensure the quality of their food and that the food they buy is exactly what the label says it is.’

The controversy surrounding Tesco extended to Dunnes Stores, Lidl, Aldi and Iceland after some of their products were also found to contain low levels of horse DNA.

The furore deepened further last week when it emerged a potentially carcinogenic drug may have entered the food chain following the slaughter of horses in the UK.

Shadow environment secretary Mary Creagh told the Commons that some of these animals tested positive for the carcinogen phenylbutazone, commonly known as bute.

She said: ‘I am in receipt of evidence showing that several horses slaughtered in UK abattoirs last year tested positive for phenylbutazone, or bute, a drug which causes cancer in humans and is banned from the human food chain.

‘It is possible that those animals entered the human food chain.’

The Commons Environment Committee is due to take evidence on the contamination of beef products with horse meat later today.

Food which tested positive was found to have been produced by Liffey Meats and Silvercrest Foods in Ireland and the UK plant, Dalepak Hambleton.

A statement released earlier this week by ABP Food Group, which owns Silvercrest, issued an apology and said they had appointed a new management team at the supplier and they will also introduce new DNA tests.

Paul Finnerty, Group Chief Executive, ABP Food Group said: ‘This has been a very difficult experience for all involved and has led to a significant interruption in business for Silvercrest and its customers. We are relieved that the source of the problem has been identified.’

‘While the company has never knowingly purchased or traded in equine product, I wish to take this opportunity to apologise for the impact this issue has caused.’

‘As previously stated the company has never knowingly bought or processed horse meat and all of our purchases are from approved and licensed EU plants.’

Tesco has won praise from the Government and MPs after announcing it would step up its food tracing procedures in the wake of the discovery of horse meat in beef burgers.

Environment minister David Heath said he ‘welcomed’ the supermarket’s announcement, which also won praise from shadow minister Huw Irranca-Davies.

Mr Irranca-Davies also welcomed the move towards DNA testing, which Labour has called on the Government to instigate.

He told MPs: ‘It is a welcome innovation, it is what we should be seeing more of, it’s what the NFU and others are calling for more of and it shows the extent to which we now need to be far more rigorous than we used to.

‘It’s not the same world it was 20 years ago.’

Mr Irranca-Davies said increased globalisation in meat supply had reinforced the need for more stringent checks on meat products.

And he pressed the minister to also update MPs on how horse meat was checked for medical contamination, after evidence emerged horse meat may have entered the food chain after testing positive for phenylbutazone, or bute.

But Mr Heath said sampling and results for bute can take up to three weeks – meaning it’s ‘entirely possible’ that in that time the meat could be taken abroad and consumed.

He did say the Food Standards Agency are investigating the bute claims and will take action if necessary.

Burger King admits it has been selling beef burgers and Whoppers containing horsemeat

NOVANEWS

  • Fast food chain has faced allegations of orchestrating a cover-up
  • Fast food chain had earlier assured its products were not involved
  • Processing company Silvercrest has been using non-approved ingredients
  • Aldi today admitted burgers sold through UK stores probably contaminated

By SEAN POULTER

Burger King has tonight admitted that it has been selling burgers and Whoppers containing horsemeat despite two weeks of denials.

The fast food chain, which has more than 500 UK outlets, had earlier given a series of ‘absolute assurances’ that its products were not involved.

However, new tests have revealed these guarantees were incorrect in a revelation that threatens to destroy the trust of customers.

Burger King has faced allegations of orchestrating a cover-up of its links to the horsemeat scandal in order to give it time to find an alternative supplier. It has admitted selling burgers containing horsemeat

It also raises serious questions about whether the food company, which sells around one million burgers a week in the UK, has any good idea about what goes into its products.

The contaminated burgers were made by the Irish-based processing company, Silvercrest, which is part the ABP Foods Group.

The same company also made tainted burgers for Tesco, Asda and the Co-op, among others.

Burger King has faced allegations of orchestrating a cover-up of its links to the horsemeat scandal in order to give it time to find an alternative supplier.

It is currently shipping in tens of thousands of burgers from suppliers in Germany and Italy in order to meet demand at its UK outlets.

It is known that the management at Silvercrest has been using a series of non-approved ingredients in their burgers for a range of household name brands.

These included meat off-cuts, including horse, that were imported in large frozen blocks from Poland.

The contamination has been going on since at least last May and potentially for up to one year, according to evidence presented to MPs earlier this week.

Tonight Burger King abandoned its earlier denials, saying: ‘Four samples recently taken from the Silvercrest plant have shown the presence of very small trace levels of equine DNA.

Burger King is currently shipping in tens of thousands of burgers from suppliers in Germany and Italy in order to meet demand at its UK outlets

‘Within the last 36 hours, we have established that Silvercrest used a small percentage of beef imported from a non-approved supplier in Poland.

‘They promised to deliver 100per cent British & Irish beef patties and have not done so. This is a clear violation of our specifications, and we have terminated our relationship with them.

‘Through our investigation, we have confirmed that this non-approved Polish supplier is the same company identified by the Irish Department of Agriculture as the source of Silvercrest’s contamination issue.’

'We are deeply troubled by the findings of our investigation and apologise to our guests, who trust us to source only the highest quality 100per cent beef burgers.'

– Burger King vice president

The contamination scandal was first triggered two weeks ago, with the Food Safety Authority of Ireland revealed it had found horse meat in burgers sold in Ireland and the UK.

When the news first emerged, Burger King said it had been given an ‘absolute assurance’ by its supplier that its products were not involved.

Yesterday, Burger King vice president, Diego Beamonte, said: ‘We are deeply troubled by the findings of our investigation and apologise to our guests, who trust us to source only the highest quality 100per cent beef burgers.

‘Our supplier has failed us and in turn we have failed you. We are committed to ensuring that this does not happen again.’

He added: ‘We will dedicate ourselves to determining what lessons can be learned and what additional measures, including DNA testing and enhanced traceability controls, can be taken to ensure that we continue to provide you with the quality products you expect from us.’

Jeanette Longfield, of the campaigning food and health group, Sustain, has condemned Burger King’s handling of the problem.

Burgers were pulled off the shelves at Tesco after the supermarket discovered that there were traces of horse meat in their products

‘Burger King’s approach has been very shabby,’ she said.

‘It really is not the open, honest and transparent way that we expect a major food company to treats its customers.’

Earlier today, Aldi admitted for the first time that burgers sold through its UK stores were also probably contaminated with traces of horse meat.

Its burgers were made by a British supplier, Dalepak, which is based in Richmond, north Yorkshire.

The same company manufactures burgers for Iceland, which has also admitted to finding horse meat in products sold to families in this country.

Tesco Everyday Value beefburgers that were removed from shelves at Tesco after they were found to contain 29 per cent horse meat

Dalepak also makes burgers for Waitrose and Sainsbury’s, which both insist that their burgers are clear of contamination.

The processing company is a subsidiary of the Irish company, ABP Food Group, which also owns a second burger manufacturing business, which is Silvercrest, in southern Ireland.

Aldi said a sample of its frozen Oakhurst Beefburgers showed up positive for 0.1per cent horse DNA, while its Oakhurst Beef Quarter Pounders were 0.1per cent equine and 0.1per cent pork.

The company withdrew all of its frozen burgers from UK stores when the scandal first erupted two weeks ago as a precaution.

Silvercrest used a small percentage of beef imported from a non-approved supplier in Poland

A spokesman said: ‘Customers are our absolute priority. This is why we immediately withdrew these products until such a time that we could verify that there was no risk to our customers.

‘We are deeply angry and feel let down by our supplier and we are pursuing more tests until we are certain that we understand how the production line was contaminated.

‘Aldi requires rigorous verification and quality control procedures and we cannot allow our quality commitment to our customers to be compromised.

‘We will continue to maintain active scrutiny across our supply lines, and we assure our customers their health and safety is our number one priority.’

BUSH 41 OFFICIAL TO OBAMA: AIM FOR ISIS FLAG

NOVANEWS

Urges president to drop ‘250 lb. bomb’ on every vehicle flying this banner

isis4

Islamic militants have purportedly beheaded American journalist Steven Sotloff and are now threatening to kill a British hostage if American air strikes continue, and a former Pentagon official warns the ISIS rampage will continue as long as President Obama remains paralyzed by indecision and fails to declare America’s goals with respect to the terrorist army.

The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, threatened to kill Sotloff in the same video depicting the beheading of American photojournalist James Foley less than two weeks ago. In addition to forcing Sotloff to denounce the U.S. before his murder, the masked executioner condemns the U.S. for the ongoing air campaign and for assisting Kurdish forces in reclaiming the key dam near Mosul.

“You, Obama, have but to gain from your actions but another American citizen. So just as your missiles continue to strike out people, our knife will continue to strike the necks of your people. We take this opportunity to warn those governments that enter this evil alliance of America against the Islamic State to back off and leave our people alone,” said the ISIS figure, believed by U.K. intelligence to be former British rapper Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary.

Jed Babbin, who served as a deputy undersecretary of defense in the George H.W. Bush administration, said, “It’s pretty evident that ISIS has effectively declared war against the United States. We have not taken any decisions that are aimed at decisively defending our interests, our people or our allies abroad. That’s really the whole thing.

“People keep bleating about how we don’t have a strategy. Well sure, we don’t, but the reason we don’t have a strategy is President Obama has dithered and blithered for so long. He does not have the decisions made. You need to make the decisions on policy first. You need to decide what your goal is, what you want to have as the result of your actions, before you can have a strategy. He doesn’t do that,” said Babbin, who noted that Obama’s indecision on this issue is not unique to this week or the past couple of months.

“We have reports that through the president’s daily intelligence brief, he has known and ignored specific intelligence about ISIS for about a year. What does it take to get this guy off his indecision and into the game?” he asked.

ISIS has gobbled vast swaths of land in both Syria and Iraq. Babbin said without decisiveness from Obama, Americans will only see more of the same and the terrorists will be harder to stop.

“The danger to us is going to continue to grow,” he said. “There are going to be more people trying to come into the United States. Effectively our borders are pretty much open. God forbid, but we may see another big terrorist attack here as a result of not closing the borders and not doing anything really to put ISIS back on its heels.”

What should be the stated goals of U.S. policy and strategy with respect to ISIS? According to Babbin, the U.S. objective should be nothing short of its annihilation.

“We should destroy, as best we can, everything ISIS has,” he said. “As an example, we see B-roll on television all the time of tanks flying the al-Qaida flag, trucks flying the ISIS and al-Qaida flags. Every single vehicle that is moving anywhere in Iraq or Syria flying that flag ought to get hit with a 250-pound bomb. That’s the whole point. That’s what you do. That’s what we should do and obviously we’re not doing it.”

Mirroring some homeland security measures recently adopted in Great Britain are also appealing national security steps in Babbin’s mind. He said keeping terrorists out of the country, whether foreign or domestic, is a great idea.

“If you go abroad and you join the army of another nation, and I would argue ISIS or al-Qaida, under our law you lose your citizenship. Why shouldn’t we be enforcing that?” he asked. “Why shouldn’t we be doing that in a way that prevents these people from coming here and doing to America what they’re trying to do in Iraq and Syria?”

Babbin said despite Obama’s penchant for keeping his finger in the wind, decisions like this are the job of the president and not Congress. In fact, his estimation of the congressional role to play in this crisis is exceedingly low.

“There would be a role for Congress if Congress had not rendered itself irrelevant to pretty much everything that’s going on these days,” he said. “They could be urging the president on. They could be bringing up the idea of whether we want, for example, a declaration of war against ISIS. They could do things like that. They’re not because they are what they are, and they’re not particularly relevant these days.”

Babbin credits the tough, pointed comments of British Prime Minister David Cameron for motivating ISIS to threaten the life of a British hostage in the wake of Sotloff’s death. He said the terrorists may be concluding Obama isn’t even worth their time.

“Because Obama has made himself irrelevant to these things, why should ISIS care about Obama any more than Putin does?” he asked. “He’s taken himself out of the picture.”

“The Enemy of my Enemy is my Friend”: How the U.S. is Using ISIS as a Pretext for War Against Syria

NOVANEWS

isis4

Global Research

Absurdity beyond comprehension.

Washington supported the Free Syria rebels who aligned themselves with the terrorist group called Al-Nusra to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad,

Then the Syrian rebels and other groups in Iraq form another terrorist organization who call themselves the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

The consequences of Washington’s policies of aiding the Syrian rebels including ISIS have served a purpose. ISIS has spread to both Syria and Iraq gaining territory. ISIS has claimed it has executed 250 Syrian soldiers last weekend as they seized an airbase in the province of Raqqa.

Washington considers the advancement of ISIS a threat to its national security. As reported by the Associated Press, US surveillance planes were already deployed to pinpoint specific targets. The article titled ‘US surveillance planes fly over Syria, officials say’ stated that

“Two U.S. officials said Monday that Obama had approved the flights, while another U.S. official said early Tuesday that they had begun. The officials were not authorized to discuss the matter by name, and spoke only on condition of anonymity.”

Army Gen. Martin Dempsey did not comment on surveillance flights currently in use but did say that “Clearly the picture we have of ISIS on the Iraqi side is a more refined picture,” said Dempsey, using one of the acronyms for the Islamic State group. “The existence and activities of ISIS on the Syrian side, we have … some insights into that but we certainly want to have more insights into that as we craft a way forward.”Obama’s rationale is that ISIS is a direct threat to American citizens after the public execution of photojournalist James Foley. Republicans are willing to give the Obama administration an authorization to take military action against ISIS in Syrian territory. Historically, Both Republicans and Democrats have always agreed on foreign policy issues, especially when war is on the agenda:

Sen. Bob Corker of Tennessee, ranking Republican on the Foreign Relations Committee, said Tuesday the administration “has not yet shared with us what their plans are.” He said he hoped the White House would go to the Congress with a request for an authorization to act.

“I think it’s our responsibility as elected officials to let the American people know where we stand with respect to national security matters,” Corker told MSNBC. “For the American people’s sake, Congress should weigh in. Congress should be a part of it”

Rest assured, Congress would vote for military action against Syria. They have an agenda that is multi faceted. First, it supports weapon’s manufacturers such as Boeing, General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin and Raytheon in a time of war. An online guide to campaign contributions that influence politicians’ called opensecrets.org states that there were 227 Republicans and 188 Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives and 49 Democrats and 40 Republicans that received funding from the defense industry. Second, the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) has an interest in removing Syrian President Bashar al-Assad because of his diplomatic relations with several of Israel’s enemies including Iran.

Washington also has a keen interest of having a military presence in the Middle East to control the natural resources including oil and gas. Washington and its corporate partners want its military to stay in the Middle East for the long term. By supporting Israel (a U.S. watchdog in the region) and having their military bases in key areas in close proximity to oil producing facilities, it would guarantee the import of natural resources into US and European markets. China would then have limited capacity to obtain natural resources it needs for its economy. Now Washington’s favorite enemy, ISIS is in the picture. The Obama administration will obviously use this crisis as a way to prepare US forces for a future “blitzkrieg” against Assad’s forces. According to the Daily Beast, A mainstream media online news source stated the following:

One former senior U.S. diplomat who has consulted with the administration on the ISIS threat told The Daily Beast that he would expect Obama to be presented with an option similar to Vice President Joe Biden’s favored policy from 2010 for Afghanistan known then as counter-terrorism plus. This kind of approach would be a drone and air campaign against ISIS targets in Syria. The United States has conducted drone and airstrikes in Yemen, Pakistan, Iraq, Somalia, and Afghanistan. But in all of these cases the host government has requested them. This week, Syria’s foreign minister warned the United States not to enter Syrian air space

According to the Associated Press, Obama is concerned that if he orders airstrikes against ISIS, it would weaken the US position to topple the Assad government, because on the international stage it would solidify the fact that the U.S. and Syria has partnered to take out a common enemy “Administration officials have said a concern for Obama in seeking to take out the Islamic State inside Syria is the prospect that such a move could unintentionally help embattled Syrian President Bashar Assad.”

But it would also become an act of aggression on Syrian territory. The Obama administration has publically stated that it would not ask the Syrian government for permission to enter its air space. Why? Maybe Washington wants to raise tensions with the Assad government? “A top Syrian official said Monday any U.S. airstrikes without consent from Syria would be considered an aggression” the AP report said. It also stated the fact that “The Islamic State is among the groups seeking Assad’s ouster, along with rebel forces aided by the U.S.” So ISIS and the U.S. government has a common enemy?

Now let get this straight. Originally the Obama administration has repeatedly called for the removal of the Assad government. The Obama administration has consistently supported the Syrian rebels to remove Assad, but has failed because the Syrian government defeated the Western backed Free Syrian Army (FSA). Another question is why would the Syrian government allow the US to battle ISIS on its territory? Syria is more than capable of defeating ISIS as it did with the Syrian rebels. The Obama administration will not ask the Assad government for permission to launch airstrikes in Syria. Now let’s see who the enemies of all parties involved are. First, the U.S. Government’s enemy is clearly the Assad government who was recently re-elected by a majority of the people. ISIS is an enemy of the U.S. and the U.S. is an enemy of ISIS, especially after the brutal beheading of James Foley made it somewhat clear. Syria’s enemy is the U.S. government who has destabilized many areas of Syria resulting in the deaths of at least 160,000 people. The US has aided the FSA which resulted in the creation of Al-Nusra and ISIS, all considered enemies of Syria. Now all terrorist organizations operating in Iraq and Syria are supposedly enemies of each other. Lebanon’s Daily Star reported this past May that:

Al-Nusra Front and ISIS have in recent months fought intense, bloody battles against each other, particularly in eastern Syria on the border with Iraq. “We will follow the orders of… Ayman al-Zawahiri… to stop any attack from our side against ISIS, while continuing to respond whenever they attack Muslims and all that is sacred to them,” Al-Nusra said in a statement.

“The enemy of my enemy is my friend” is hard to comprehend. Syria is the enemy of the U.S. government and its terrorist organizations it has supported over the years. In this case, who is the enemy and who is the friend? The U.S. does not have a real friend in this fight because it already has what it wants, instability. All parties are expendable as we clearly seen with U.S. airstrikes targeting ISIS in Iraq. Washington has friends in the Middle East, and that is Israel and the Gulf state dictatorships. Syria is back in the spotlight. Washington is determined to oust the Assad government and create a fragmented state as they did to Libya. By supporting Israel and its Gulf states allies including Turkey and Jordan militarily and economically, U.S. interests would be secure. In a sense, it is order out of chaos.

A settler group has posted a video of a bus filled with Palestinian man alongside a Jewish woman as a reason to segregate buses on the occupied West Bank for the security of Jews. Their flyer portrays integrated buses as a suicide bomb waiting to happen.

Vanishing Airliners, ISIS, and 9/11. “Timing is Crucial in Politics”

 NOVANEWS

Global Research

Timing is crucial in politics.

Therefore, when events transpire, they can often be as important as what transpires. This article discusses reasons as to why the timing of certain very recent events pertaining to vanishing aircraft and ISIS is highly suspicious.

The very trustworthy MSM has just informed us that 11 commercial jet airliners vanished two weeks ago from an airport in Tripoli, Libya. Evidently, U.S. intelligence has just gotten around to informing citizens of the event. A couple of observations should be made before we get to the discussion of timing. It is a fact that nanosatellite technology with night vision capability has been available, and even publicly discussed, since as early as 1997. Furthermore, the National Reconnaissance Office, which spawns these devices, recently assigned a mission patch proclaiming that Nothing is Beyond Our Reach to a 2013 payload containing Government Experimental Multi-Satellite objects.

In addition, it is almost certainly the case that the skies of Libya, in particular Tripoli, are almost certainly blanketed with drones. In view of the preceding, it is reasonable to suppose that the United States Government almost certainly knows where the aircraft are, but chooses to act as though it doesnt.

Why?

Now to matters of timing.

After sitting on the supposed vanishings for two weeks, information seeped into the mainstream media only after the release of a second ISIS beheading video (if that is in fact what it was). Are we supposed to believe USG (us government) lost the planes for two weeks, looked for them and couldn’t find them, and only now decided it’s time to sound the alarm to the general public?

That’s possible, but consider also that the news of the vanishings arrived in tandem with news of the second “beheading.” And, we’re also told that the second beheading video may have been released early by accident?

A second “beheading” has more effect if followed by more news of vanishing aircraft a bit later–so why would USG, after two weeks, have come out with news of the vanishing aircraft only immediately subsequent to an “accidental” release of the second beheading video–unless it was trying to maximize propaganda value regarding potential events it must have at least some degree of control over since it almost certainly knows where those aircraft are?

Of course, the 11 vanishings could just be illusory and unadulterated propaganda; the game move could be pretty much the same regardless.

So where does this leave us?

On August 1, this author wrote with respect to MH 17, MH 370, Air France 447, and, in particular, AH 5017 (all aircraft that vanished from contact), that:

Matters are so compromised with respect to the status of bodily evidence [regarding AH 5017] that France now thinks it could take from three to five months for forensic processes to produce the first identifications.

And then we have the facts that it took hours for airline and government officials to make AH 5017s disappearance public, there were 51 French passengers, and France, declaring victory, had very recently terminated Operation Serval (a counterterrorism adventure in Mali).

Finally, we have the pending performance on a France/Russia deal whereby Russia is to received delivery of two Mistral warships. Maybe certain elitist elements would rather see France breach the contract?

As implicitly predicted, we now have news that France has, at least temporarily, cancelled the contract with Russia. So here’s what may well happen next: Obama’s response so far has been tepid; a couple hundred troops to Iraq and the declaration that ISIS is “manageable” by the “international community.” That is not going to be enough for people who want much more aggressive action against Russia and in the Middle East. Therefore, in coming days, we’ll have another, more intense round of chicken; France has seen the writing on the wall and chickened out already in view of even more vanished aircraft. It’s now 9/3, giving us 8 days to 9/11. The next scene probably happens tomorrow; it could be something like a group of “beheadings.” Whatever it is, it will be noticeably scaled up.

For news cycle type reasons, I doubt much will happen over the weekend other than noises here and there. If something does happen over the weekend, it will have to be pretty big in order to garner attention. Once we get to next week, we’re on a collision course. If Obama still hasn’t acted aggressively, on either Monday or Tuesday a pretty big event is likely to happen, but probably not in the U.S. A U.S. event is reserved for next Thursday and will only be engaged if Obama has still not acted in ways deemed sufficient.

Is America Becoming A Third World Country?

NOVANEWS

It’s not often reported on a national level, but communities everywhere are going broke. As broke people often do, towns and cities are scaling back: turning off streetlights, laying off fire police, auctioning off city property, turning paved roads into gravel roads and firing teachers. The scary thing is that the bad times and the municipal bankruptcies have only just gotten warmed up. By the way, this Republican/Democrat debate is baloney.

Theft, inefficiency and cronyism amount to 50% of every government budget. Both parties are in it up to their elbows.

Jihadism and how to isolate, contain and defeat it

NOVANEWS
Abu-Bakr al-Baghdadi

By Alan Hart

I must start by saying thatjihadism is my necessary headline shorthand for violent Islamic fundamentalism in all of its manifestations. In this article I’m going to ask and offer answers to two main questions.

The first is: where does this madness come from? I mean what is it, really, that gives birth and life to violent Islamic fundamentalism?

In my analysis it is essentially the product of Muslim hurt, humiliation and anger, plus, for many Muslims, the misery and despair of poverty (the absence of some or even all of the basic necessities for life with dignity).

In that light those of our so-called leaders who believe violent Islamic fundamentalism can be eradicated with bombs and bullets either lack common sense or are stupid.

The hurt, humiliation and anger that gives birth and life to violent Islamic fundamentalism have two main causes.

…there are a whole stack of Muslim grievances that have to be acknowledged and addressed if violent Islamic fundamentalism is to be isolated, contained and defeated.

One is the authoritarianism and corruption of regimes throughout the Arab and wider Muslim world, plus their complicity by default in Zionism’s unending oppression of the Palestinians.

The other is the double-standard of American-led Western foreign policy, a double-standard that allows Israel to remain above the law and not be called to account for its crimes, including from time to time acts of state terrorism.

Put another way, there are a whole stack of Muslim grievances that have to be acknowledged and addressed if violent Islamic fundamentalism is to be isolated, contained and defeated.

In my book Zionism: The Real Enemy of the Jews I offered a 150-word explanation of how terrorism can be defeated, as follows.

Terrorists cannot operate, not for long, without the cover and the practical, emotional and moral support of the community of which they are a part. When that community perceives itself to be the victim of a massive injustice, and if that injustice is not addressed by political means, the community will cover, condone and even applaud the activities of those of its own who resort to terror as the only means of drawing attention to the injustice, to cause it to be addressed. It follows that the way to defeat terrorism – the only successful and actually proven way – is by addressing the genuine and legitimate grievances of the host community. The community will then withdraw its cover and support for its terrorists; and, if they continue to try to operate, the community will then oppose them by exposing them – reporting them to the authorities if reasoning fails.

I then presented the example of Northern Ireland to give some substance to my general point. The British army did not defeat Provisional IRA terrorism. The terrorists called off their campaign and went for negotiations only when they had no choice – because the Catholic host community would not cover and support them any longer. And that happened only because the British government summoned up the will, about half a century later than it should have done, to risk the wrath of Northern Ireland’s Protestant majority by insisting that the legitimate grievances of the Catholic minority be addressed.

Northern Ireland is not Iraq or Syria or any of the other territories where violent Islamic fundamentalism in one form or another is rearing its ugly head, but the principle outlined above still holds good. Addressing the grievances of the host communities is essential if jihadism is be isolated, contained and eventually defeated.

Now to my second question for this article.

What could the West for its part actually do to address Muslim grievances – the package of hurt, humiliation and anger?

The short answer is: end the double-standard of American-led foreign policy.

…a demonstration of real American even handedness on policy for Israel-Palestine would go a long way to restoring American credibility which, in turn, would make many if not all the problems arising from Muslim hurt, humiliation and anger more manageable.

In principle doing so would require above all an American administration to use the leverage it has to try to cause Israel to be serious about peace on terms that would provide an acceptable amount of justice for the Palestinians and security for all. (I emphasisedtry in the last sentence because it doesn’t necessarily follow that the Zionist state would say: “Okay. We’ll comply with international law and do what you want.” It’s not impossible that Israel would tell an American President and the whole Western world to go to hell.)

I don’t mean to imply that use of American leverage to end the Israel-Palestine conflict on terms the vast majority of Palestinians and most other Arabs and Muslims everywhere could live with is some kind of magic wand. But a demonstration of real American even handedness on policy for Israel-Palestine would go a long way to restoring American credibility which, in turn, would make many if not all the problems arising from Muslim hurt, humiliation and anger more manageable.

The process of making these problems more manageable would also be greatly assisted by a major initiative from within the Muslim world. In my analysis it needs its leading and most respected scholars to come up with a universal interpretation of the meaning of the teachings and messages of the Quran for today’s world.

Muslims believe this central religious text of Islam was revealed by God to the Prophet Muhammad through the angel Gabriel over a period of approximately 23 years, from 609 AD to 632 AD when he died. Common sense suggests to me that interpretation of teachings and messages that were relevant in the world as it was between 1,405 and 1,382 years ago needs updating.

In other words, what I am suggesting is that Muslims need to be told with the greatest possible authority: “This is what the teachings and messages of the Quran mean in today’s world and this is what they do not mean.” I can see no other way of denying religious-based justification to those who kill and maim and destroy in Islam’s name.

Now a reality check.

…Muslims need to be told with the greatest possible authority: “This is what the teachings and messages of the Quran mean in today’s world and this is what they do not mean.”

I have a good number of rational Muslim friends who tell me they agree that the interpretation of the teachings and messages of the Quran needs updating but, they also say, it will never happen. Why not? Because the best Muslim scholars are either too divided among themselves or too frightened to accept the challenge.

In my view, and because of the corruption of American politics, there’s also no prospect of any American administration adopting an even-handed policy for Israel-Palestine.

So what could be done to isolate, contain and eventually eradicate violent Islamic fundamentalism won’t be done.

And where does that leave us? On course for a clash of civilizations. Judaeo-Christian v Islamic?

America’s mad Christian evangelicals who support the Zionist state because they see it as the instrument for bringing about Armageddon, will answer, “We hope so.”

Note

In addition to the American-led Western double standard as indicated above there’s the role America has played is assisting the creation of violent Islamic fundamentalism. An article by Tom Engelhardt with the headline How America made ISIS can be found here.
