Anti-migrant boat crew arrested for alleged people trafficking in Cyprus

NOVANEWS
Anti-migrant boat crew arrested for alleged people trafficking in Cyprus
The crew of an anti-migrant boat was arrested Wednesday in Turkish-controlled Northern Cyprus for allegedly smuggling 21 Sri Lankans. The boat is associated with the far-right Identitarian movement in Europe which opposes immigration and Islam.

“There are places across Europe … in France, in the UK … which are suffering the consequences of this already… The Islamic religion risks provoking danger, disturbing public order, and upsetting social and cultural values. Natural Europeans are being substituted,” said Lorenzo Fiato, a 24-year-old graduate from Milan, who heads the Generation Identity movement’s Italian faction, as cited by the Guardian.

Nine crew, including the captain, and the ship’s owner Sven Tomas Egerstrom, were arrested and remanded in custody charged with creating and using falsified documents. The crew had reportedly deactivated the ship’s antenna and automatic identification system.

“It was in Famagusta, but we don’t know if it is still there because we can’t locate it,” a marine police officer said. “They have clearly turned off the system. Because it is in Turkish-occupied territory, we can’t do anything about it. We can’t go and find out more.”

The group alleges that the sailors on board the C-Star were there for training and accuse rival NGOs of bribing the sailors and encouraging them to stay in Europe and apply for asylum. Defend Europe claims five of the sailors accepted the offer while 15 others refused.

“Twenty-one Sri Lankans were on the ship. Some said they had paid smugglers to be taken to Italy,” Faika Pasa, a local human rights activist, told the media“The crew will be held in custody before they are brought to court. It is very likely they will be deported.”

The Defend Europe mission was created by Generation Identity, established in France in 2002, and was crowdfunded online, raising $156,000 from more than 2,000 donors.

The group’s goal was to disrupt what it claims are “criminal NGO search and rescue vessels” as they conducted migrant rescues in the Mediterranean while cooperating with the Libyan Coast Guard to return any migrants they find to the nearest port, effectively preventing migrants from reaching Europe and returning them to human traffickers in Libya.

“Our objective is to collaborate with the Libyan Coast Guard in Tripoli and inform them if we find boats in Libyan waters so those traffickers can be arrested and their boats destroyed,” Italian representative of Defend Europe Lorenzo Fiato told the Telegraph.

The entire mission has been plagued with problems, having been refused docking rights in Egypt

Catania Mayor Enzo Bianco has formally requested Italian authorities prevent the C-Star from docking in Sicily. “They are not welcome guests here as they have come to seed intolerance,” he said, as cited by The Telegraph.

“We are glad that the vessel has been stopped and its crew removed as we’ve been providing extensive briefings to authorities in the region, alongside our partners, and viewed the arrival of the C-Star into the volatile mix off the Libyan coastline as extremely unwelcome – and likely to increase the risk of loss of life in the area,” said Nick Ryan, spokesman for Hope not Hate.

Some 2,361 migrants have died trying to cross the Mediterranean so far this year according to figures from the IOM.

“While the Identitarian movement has always used controversial and confrontational tactics the hiring of this ship is emblematic of a dangerous new confidence within the movement,” Lowles told the IB Times UK.

“This is not the way to solve or address the refugee crisis on the Mediterranean,” he added.

American white nationalists fund European ship to catch Muslims in the Mediterranean

NOVANEWS
A picture taken on July 27, 2017 shows the C-Star vessel, hired by far-right activists from a group which calls itself

WASHINGTON—Europe’s white nationalists are taking border control into their own hands.

Funded with money from American white supremacists and the “alt-right” movement, a group called Generation Identity has chartered a ship it plans to use to snatch Muslim migrants out of Mediterranean waters and deliver them back to the Middle East.

The group says it will be looking for migrants in distress, leaning on maritime law that requires any boater to come to the aid of another, in order to collect and redirect non-white refugees. The group also plans to monitor the activity of non-governmental organizations, whose rescue operations in the Mediterranean are characterized by Generation Identity as human smuggling.

Generation Identity calls its effort “Defend Europe.”

“Defend Europe is the only way to secure the European borders and to stop the drowning in the sea,” said Martin Sellner, an Austrian member of Generation Identity who is leading Defend Europe, in a promotional video about the project.

Generation Identity — begun in France and now in Austria, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands — raised funds for the ship on an American alt-right crowd-sourcing platform, winning the attention of some of America’s most famous white supremacists.

David Duke, infamous anti-Semite and former Ku Klux Klan leader, tweeted out a link to Defend Europe’s fundraising page. The Daily Stormer, a neo-Nazi and white supremacist American information site, has published several articles supporting the idea, calling for it to be replicated “on a massive scale.”

Defend Europe sought $80,000 for its ship. It raised more than $158,000.

It’s this transatlantic collaboration that has hate group trackers worried.

“Everybody’s on the same page that essentially a white genocide is ongoing and that all white people across the Western world need to protect their interests and fight against this,” said Heidi Beirich, who tracks white supremacy and extremist groups at the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Amarnath Amarasingam, a senior research fellow at the Institute for Strategic Dialogue, said these group’s efforts haven’t gotten much attention because they were seen as one-offs.

“But if we are seeing a broader convergence into an international movement of some kind and they start to share resources and gain more support, and then there could be a real problem,”  Mr. Amarasingam said.

Generation Identity launched the Defend Europe project in May after a group its members physically blocked a humanitarian ship that was patrolling the Mediterranean in search of migrants in distress. The white nationalist group accused the rescue groups of waging a “silent genocide against Europeans” by bringing the drowning migrants to European shores.

More than 5,000 people drowned in the Mediterranean last year, with an estimated 2,257 perishing so far this year as of the end of June.

Using their own ship, the C-Star, Defend Europe intends to target NGO rescue operations in one of the most trafficked migrant routes in the world. The C-Star will abide by international law, the group says, and will come to the aid of any ship in its vicinity that sends out a distress signal. But where NGOs would rescue the migrants and transport them to Europe, Defend Europe plans to transfer them to the Libyan Coast Guard for return to that country, which is essentially lawless. Defend Europe plans to destroy the vessels so they can not be used again to try and ferry people to Europe.

Defend Europe’s organizers have a prolific social media presence, which they use to push out fundraising appeals and updates on the C-Star’s whereabouts as the vessel winds its way from Djibouti through the Suez Canal and into the Mediterranean Sea.

So far, the mission hasn’t been seamless: The C-Star crew was detained last week in Cyprus on its way to Catania, Sicily, to pick up the rest of the team planning to carry out the mission. They have been released, and Defend Europe has stated on Twitter that it plans to go forward.

Generation Identity, whose members call themselves Identitarians, is Europe’s alt-right equivalent. The group opposes non-white immigration, particularly of Muslims. The size of its membership is unknown because there has been little academic research into the movement, unlike the study of white nationalist and supremacist groups in America.

Generation Identity adopted an ideology that grew out of the New Right movement in France in the 1970s.

“Their argument was that the French, for example, are not better than the Moroccans or the Turks, but they’re different and they should remain different,” said Cas Mudde, who tracks the radical right as an associate professor at the University of Georgia. “They’re classic nationalist, nativist, but there’s always an intellectual aspect to it, which is uncommon to the radical right.”

Barcelona and Cambrils Attacks: Again and Again, Mossad Targets Europe

NOVANEWS

By Sajjad Shaukat

At least 14 people were killed and approximately 100 were injured on Thursday (August17,
2017) when a van ploughed into a crowd of people on the famous Las Ramblas boulevard in the
Spanish city of Barcelona.

Western media reported that in the early hours of Friday (August 18) morning, in the town of
Cambrils, 70 miles away, seven people were hurt when an Audi A3 car drove into pedestrians
before being shot dead by security forces.
Local government confirmed the incident in Cambrils was linked to the attack in central
Barcelona.

According to the media, “The five attackers, who were wearing bomb belts, were shot dead,
police said. The bomb belts were detonated by the force’s bomb squad.”
Western media said that Islamic State group (Also known as Daesh, SIL and ISIS) claimed
responsibility for the Barcelona and Cambrils attacks.

A senior police officer of Spain Josep Lluis Trapero stated, “The two suspects in custody in the
Barcelona van attack are Spanish nationals from Melilla and a Moroccan, but that doesn’t mean
that either were the author of the attack,” while the whereabouts of the driver was unclear. Latest
news disclosed that Spanish security forces have also arrested three other suspects.

Spanish police and security services are hunting for the remaining members of a Moroccan-born
terror cell, amid fears that they could be preparing further attacks at popular tourist areas.
This was the latest terror assaults in Europe, using a vehicle in Europe in the past three years, as
several people died in similar attacks in Berlin, London and Nice.

Meanwhile, a man wielding a large knife fatally stabbed one person and wounded five others on
Friday (August 18, 2017), during an attack at a supermarket in Hamburg, Germany, and the
police said that the assailant was arrested as he tried to flee.

So far, much has been written and said by writers and analysts of print and electronic media
about the terror attacks of Barcelona and Cambrils. The opinion of Christians, Jews and Muslims
is divided, while elaborating the tragedy in accordance with their own peculiar religious
background. In the social media, prejudice is ruining so high against one another that by reading
the name, some people of the opposite side ignore his views.

In this regard, scholars of international affairs agree that “foreign affairs are too foreign” to the
citizens of a country. Renowned scholar Prof. Hoslti opines that “issues and situations” have
“influence on public opinion” which in turn “influences the objectives and actions.”

In fact, fault cannot be laid on the general masses, a majority of whom does not have much time
to go in-depth. Therefore, they are swayed by emotions, stereotypes and prejudices created by
the political leaders who keep on manipulating any crisis for their own self-interests with the sole
aim of getting their sympathies to increase their vote bank. There are equal strong pressures from
religious and nationalist forces in wake of fake global war on terror which is dividing the world
on religious lines.

However, we cannot blame Israel and its secret agency Mossad for the terrorism-related assaults
in Spain. In this regard, first of all, it is notable that regarding a case in the court, a judge always
wants solid evidence to give his verdict. While a lawyer or advocate always defends the case of
his client at every cost. Sometimes, reality of the event exists, but there is no solid evidence
which could be produced in the court. It gives benefit of doubt to the accused who is set free by
the concerned court. Even, in some cases, a judge is so impressed by the arguments of a lawyer
and he ignores the circumstantial evidence. Quite contrarily, in international politics, we need in-
depth analysis to know the real entity, as in relation to the carnage in Barcelona and Cambrils.
Therefore, latest terror attacks in Spain cannot be seen in isolation. There is an interrelationship
of the terrorism-related attacks in the US, Europe, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Pakistan,
Yemen etc., and elsewhere in the world—irresponsible statements of the US President Donald
Trump, his encouragement to violent racialism inside America, and various developments in the
world, which are part of the double game of the US, Israel and India who are in connivance with
ISIL to seek revenge against Russia and the Muslims.

Notably, since September 2015, Russian-led coalition of Iran, Iraq, the Syrian army-the National
Defense Forces (NDF) and Lebanon-based Hezbollah has broken the backbone of the CIA-
Mossad-assisted ISIS terrorists, Al-Qaeda’s Al-Nusra Front and the rebel groups. Russian-
supported Assad’s forces and Iraqi troops have retaken several territories from the control of the
rebels and the ISIS terrorists who are on flee in Syria and Iraq. Recently, Iraqi forces have
recaptured the city of Mosul by defeating the ISIL militants. Very soon, through the skilful
diplomacy, Russian President Vladimir Putin will liberate entire Iraq and Syria from the control
of the US and Israeli supported non-state actors. Moscow which is destroying the pillars of the
New World Order has also exposed the sinister designs of Washington and Tel Aviv against the
Muslims and the international community.

Taking note of various developments and some other ones such as reluctance of NATO countries
to support America’s phony global war on terror, acceptance of Syrian refuges by the European
countries, especially Germany, criticism of the controversial Turkish-EU refugee deal by a
number of human rights groups, the EU rule to boycott goods produced in Israeli settlements on
the West Bank, Britain’s decision to leave the European Union (EU), after the referendum
(Brexit) on June 24, 2016, prospects of Scotland and some other countries for separation from
the EU, and the divide between the elite class which run multinational companies with the direct
or indirect control of the Jews and the general masses who are suffering from multiple problems
in wake of differences on the refugee crisis, Syrian war, Greece’s weak economy, violent
protests against the labour laws in France etc.—the chances of European Union’s disintegration
and a rift among the NATO countries, as noted in the recent past by the “Stop NATO protests in
Europe were quite opposite to the Israeli secret interests. Hence, Israeli Mossad which was in

collaboration with the vulnerable CIA operatives organized terror assaults in the US and Europe.
As part of the double game, these terror attacks were conducted by these secret agencies,
particularly Mossad with the assistance of the ISIS terrorists who used the home-grown terrorists
of these countries.

Owing to the irresponsible approach of the Western leaders and their media, far right-wing
parties and “Stop Islam” movement in the West, especially in Europe has been becoming popular
by largely attracting their people. Right-wing parties in a growing number of European countries
have made electoral gains. The right-wing parties range across a wide policy spectrum, from
populist and nationalist to far-right neofascist.

Meanwhile, tensions intensified between India and China in mid-June, this year, when after the
instructions of the Prime Minister Narindra Modi, Indian military troops went into Doklam
plateau-the territory of China, claimed by both Beijing and Indian ally Bhutan.
In Beijing, China’s Foreign Ministry, while warning New Delhi to withdraw its troops said the
country would never give up any territory. Following the stern warning, India has withdrawn
troops from Doklam area and has left only 50 military personnel. Beijing is insisting upon
complete withdrawal. Therefore, talks between both the nuclear countries failed, as New Delhi
does not seem to withdraw all the troops.

Similarly, Indian soldiers crossed over the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir on January 6, 2012
and attacked a Pakistani check post, killing one Pakistani soldier. Afterwards, Indian troops shot
dead more Pakistani soldiers on the LoC.

Last year, by manipulating the false flag terror attacks at a military base in Uri and Baramulla,
located in the Indian Occupied Kashmir, Indian Prime Minister Modi has also intensified war-
hysteria against Pakistan. After deployment of heavy arms and weapons at the LoC, Indian
forces have increased troops and continued shelling in Pakistani side of Kashmir. And Pakistani
troops are giving matching response to Indian unprovoked firing across the LoC. New Delhi’s
main aim is to deflect the attention of the international community from the new phase of
Kashmiri Intifada, while pressure has been mounting on the Modi government both domestically
and internationally to resolve the issue of Kashmir with Pakistan.

In the recent past, new wave of terrorism in Pakistan, especially Balochistan province killed
several innocent people, while various terrorist outfits, particularly ISIS, and the affiliated
faction of the Tehreek-e- Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the Tehreek-e- Taliban Pakistan Jamaat-ur-
Ahrar (TTP-JA also known as JuA) claimed responsibility for these brutal acts. TTP based in
Afghanistan has its connections with ISIL and other terrorist organizations and affiliated terror
groups, including Baloch separatist elements, and all these outfits are promoting the anti-
Pakistan agenda of the US-led foreign entities against Pakistan. As part of America’s double
game, CIA, Indian RAW, Mossad and Afghan intelligence agency, National Directorate of
Security (NDS) which are in collaboration, are using these terror groups in destabilizing Pakistan
and particularly Balochistan in order to fulfill the covert strategic aims of the US-led India and
Israel against Pakistan, China, Russia and Iran.

These external secret agencies are especially supporting the TTP which is hiding in Nuristan and
Kunar provinces of Afghanistan. Reportedly, Mullah Fazlullah led TTP is behind several terror
activities inside Pakistan, as the latter has also become center of the Great Game due to the ideal
location of Balochistan. CIA, Mossad and RAW are trying to damage the China-Pakistan
Economic Corridor (CPEC). Based in Afghanistan, these intelligence agencies are also creating
unrest in Tibetan regions of China.

Besides, pressure has also been mounting on Tel Aviv for the two-state solution of the Israeli-
Palestinian dispute, as some European countries have been emphasizing on Israeli Prime
Minister Netanyahu to stop the expansion of West Bank settlements and restart a negotiation
process for the two-state solution of the Israeli-Palestinian issue in wake of the debate between
the Zionists and non-Zionist Jews in relation to the two-state solution of the dispute. Some other
developments such as Turkey’s decision to join the Russian-led coalition to fight the ISIS
terrorists in wake of Ankara’s severe criticism of Europe and America, accusing Washington of
assisting the Kurds in destabilizing Turkey also depressed the Israelis. And, China has already
decided to join the Russian-led coalition to eliminate the ISIS terrorism in Syria and
Afghanistan.

While, tensions accelerated between the US and North Korea on August 11, this year, when
American President Trump again highlighted the threat by saying, “The US military solutions are
now fully in place” against North Korea.

By setting aside the war-like diplomacy of the President Trump, Pyongyang tested an
intercontinental ballistic missile on July 28, 2017, which appears to have the range to hit major
US cities.

On April 14, this year, North Korea, issued a statement which denounced what it called the
Trump administration’s “maniacal military provocations,” including the deployment of the
carrier group. The statement elaborated, “Nothing will be more foolish, if the United States
thinks it can deal with us the way it treated Iraq and Libya, miserable victims of its aggression,
and Syria, which did not respond immediately even after it was attacked.”

Meanwhile, on April 17, 2017, Russia warned the US against any unilateral action against North
Korea, saying that any action against Pyongyang’s nuclear activities should not violate
international law. Earlier, on April, 14, 2017, China also warned America in the same terms.
All these developments frustrated the Israelis, Indians and their supporter-the US President
Donald Trump. Like Israel, while, implementing secret strategy, American extremist President
Trump has also been backing the Indian leader of the fanatic party BJP and the fundamentalist
Prime Minister Modi against China and Pakistan in accordance with anti-China, anti-Pakistan
and anti-Muslim agenda.

Nevertheless, taking cognizance of these developments, from time to time , RAW, vulnerable
CIA operatives and especially Mossad conducted terror attacks in the US, Europe, Turkey, Saudi
Arabia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen, Philippines, Egypt and other African countries, which
besides Muslims also targeted the Christians and their places of worship.

Both Israel and India who do not want the solution of the Israeli-Palestinian dispute and the
Kashmir issue, and seems determined to keep their control on the occupied territories through
perennial acts of state terrorism have also accelerated the new Cold War between the US-led
West and Russia.

Nonetheless, like India and Israel, particularly, President Trump who is facing severe criticism
inside America owing to his rigid domestic and external policies, is confused due to the above
mentioned developments, while, still some CIA agents, RAW and especially Mossad want to
divide the world on religious lines.

As a matter of fact, the agents of Mossad who are in collaboration with the CIA sympathizers,
Syrian rebel groups and the ISIL militants had arranged terror attacks in Paris, Brussels, Orlando,
San Bernardino, Nice, Munich, London (March 22, 2017), St. Petersburg (Metro train) in
Stockholm, in Manchester and again in London, and now in Spain.

Through all these false flag terror operations, the US and Israel wanted to obtain their covert
aims against Russia and the Muslims. Mossad had also provided the US President Donald Trump
with an opportunity to manipulate various terror assaults of Europe and America to win the US
presidential election and to reunite America and Europe, as differences were created between
America and its Western allies, especially Europe on various issues. And, pro-Israeli President
Donald Trump have left no stone unturned in implementing anti-Muslim policies, while speaking
openly against the Muslims and Syrian refugees.

Especially, Mossad’s other purposes through terrorism-related assaults were to keep NATO
united, and to divert the attention of their public from internal crises and a prolonged war in
Afghanistan. Tel Aviv also wanted to muster the support of America’s Western allies against
Russia in relation to the Syrian war and to instigate the Western Christians, particularly those of
Europe against the Muslims. Exaggeration of the threat of Islamophia and persecution of the
Muslims in America and these countries might be cited as instance.

Another regrettable point is that irresponsible attitude of Indian, Israeli and some Western
politicians has introduced dangerous socio-religious dimension in their societies by equating the
“war on terror” with “war on Islam” and acts of Al-Qaeda and ISIS with all the Muslims. Their
media have also been contributing to heighten the currents of world politics on cultural and
religious lines with the negative projection of Islam.

In the meantime, the pro-Israeli, the then French president-elect Emmanuel Macron who was
having connections with Tel Aviv has also changed his policies in favour of the French people at
the cost of Israeli illegitimate interests. However, this development also frustrated the Israelis.
If not checked in time by the peace-loving Muslims, Christians, Hindus, Jews and Buddhists,
these policies of the President Donald Trump who is particularly completing the extremist
agenda of Israel and India are likely to result into more recruitment in the militant outfits,
especially in the ISIS group, inspiring the extremist Muslims for more terrorism-related attacks.

India does not want the settlement of the Kashmir issue and especially, Israel which does not
accept the two-state solution of the Israeli-Palestinian dispute will prefer to bring about a major
war between the Muslim and the Christian worlds or to cause a major war between Russia and
the US-led some Western countries.

As regards the latest attacks, rulers and leaders of various countries, especially of the Western
World have condemned the terror assaults in Barcelona and Cambrils. Mariano Rajoy, the
Spanish prime minister, said the attack was “jihadist terrorism” requiring a global response.
British Prime Minister Theresa May, condemned the “terrible” Las Ramblas assault and said
Britain stood firmly with Spain against terrorism.

After condemning the terror attacks and offering US assistance to Spain, the US President
Donald Trump suggested “fighting terrorism by executing Muslims with bullets dipped in pigs
blood.”

Far-right groups clashed with hundreds of anti-protesters, as they marched in Barcelona just one
day after the deadly terror attack in the city. Now, European cities are deeply divided between
the white population and the Muslim immigrants. This is what particularly, Mossad desired
through these acts of terrorism in Spain.

It is established fact that in order to revive the fake global war on terror, the neo-conservatives,
Zionists and Israel needed the assistance of the whole Europe. For the purpose, conspiracy was
definitely prepared and the leading role was played by Mossad. In this context, in the recent past,
arrest of Israeli Col. Shahak in Iraq, his admission, proving links of Al-Qaeda and ISIS with
America and Israel (Mossad), arrest of CIA-Mossad agents in Iraq and Syria, and medical
treatment of the ISIS warriors in the Israeli hospitals (Disclosed by online sources) might be
cited as instance.

As regards terrorism, Machiavelli advises the rulers to have a lion-like image outwardly, and act
upon the traits of goat inwardly. He also suggests them foreign adventures and the use of terror
to obtain their goals. In his sense, a good ruler should be a good opportunist and hypocrite. While
echoing Machiavelli, Morgenthau points out that sometimes, rulers act upon immoral activities
like deceit, fraud, falsehood and even murder to fulfill their selfish aims.

Undoubtedly, by acting upon the past theories of the political thinkers in the modern era, Mossad
was behind Barcelona and Cambrils terror attacks to achieve multiple objectives of Tel Aviv and
Trump Administration against the Islamic World and Russia, without bothering for the fact that
further instability in the world will jeopardize the economic interests of the US at cost of the
patriot Americans who are already facing multifaceted problems due to unending war on terror.
It is noteworthy that some reports suggest that earlier this year, Islamic militants had warned that
they would be seeking to take their campaign of death and destruction to popular areas in the
Mediterranean. The CIA also warned Spanish police two months ago that Las Ramblas was a
potential target. In these terms, responsibility is also fixed on the security agencies of Spain,
which did not took safety measures in this respect, which provided Mossad with opportunity to
use home-grown terrorists of ISIL in managing the terror assaults in Barcelona and Cambrils.

In light of the above developments in the world and especially previous terrorism-related attacks
in the US and Europe, we can conclude in relation to the Barcelona and Cambrils attacks that
again and again, Mossad is targeting Europe.

Palestinian Journalists Declare Hunger Strike

NOVANEWS

By Jaclynn Ashly | IMEMC News

As local and international criticism continued to mount against the Ramallah-based Palestinian Authority’s (PA) tightening noose on freedoms of expression in the occupied West Bank, seven Palestinian journalists imprisoned by the PA have begun a hunger strike after being detained under the controversial Cyber Crimes Law, approved by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas last month.

Palestinian journalists Mamduh Hamamra, a correspondent for Al-Quds News, Al-Aqsa TV correspondent Tariq Abu Zeid, and freelance journalist Qutaiba Qassem all declared a hunger strike immediately after their detentions were extended by up to 15 days on Thursday, according to a statement released by Omar Nazzal, a member of the Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate and former prisoner of Israel.

Issam Abdin, a lawyer and head of advocacy at Palestinian NGO al-Haq, confirmed to Ma’an News Agency that four more Palestinian journalists –Al-Quds News correspondent Ahmad Halayqa, Shehab News Agency correspondent Amer Abu Arafa, and reporters Islam Salim and Thaer al-Fakhouri — had declared a hunger strike on Thursday to protest their detention.

The journalists had all been detained several days prior for allegedly violating the terms of the new law, according to Abdin.

All seven of the journalists reportedly work for media outlets that were among 30 sites blocked by the PA in June — all of which were reportedly affiliated with the Hamas movement, the ruling party in the besieged Gaza Strip which has been embroiled in a bitter ten-year rivalry with the Fateh-led PA, or Abbas’ longtime political rival, Muhammad Dahlan.

While the move to block the websites in the West Bank was condemned at the time as an unprecedented violation of press freedoms in the Palestinian territory, Abbas took the crackdown on media to another level last month by passing the Cyber Crimes Law by presidential decree.

‘A draconian law’

In a statement on Thursday, Nazzal said that at least six of the imprisoned journalists — omitting al-Fakhouri — were being detained over allegations of violating Article 20 of the Cyber Crimes Law.

The article states that an individual could face at least one year in prison or be fined at least $1,410 for “creating or managing a website or an information technology platform that would endanger the integrity of the Palestinian state, the public order, or the internal or external security of the State.”

Meanwhile, “any person who propagates the kinds of news mentioned above by any means, including broadcasting or publishing them” faces up to one year in prison or a fine ranging from $282 to $1,410, according to the new law.

Abdin said that these “loose articles,” through which individuals would face imprisonment simply for publishing certain articles on their social media accounts, set the groundwork for arresting Palestinian journalists and “destroying the freedom of journalism work in Palestine.”

Nadim Nashif, the cofounder and director of Palestinian and Arab digital advocacy group 7amleh, called the law “terrible” and “draconian.”

“It’s the worst law in the PA’s history,” Nashif said. “It allows the PA to arrest anyone under unclear definitions.”

Nashif noted that not only did the law criminalize the creation, publication, and propagation of certain information deemed dangerous by the PA, it also ruled that individuals found to have bypassed PA blocks on websites through proxy servers or Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) could face three-month prison sentences.

Nashif said that the law had dragged the West Bank “backwards.”

Despite Israel’s decade-long occupation of the West Bank and the more than 10-year political split with Hamas, “generally, the media and websites were left alone,” Nashif said. “They were not part of this political fight.”

“The PA is kind of breaking the last spaces of freedom of speech,” he said.

Palestinian journalists trapped between Hamas-PA divide

Rights groups were quick to condemn the detention of the journalists, claiming that the new law was aimed at rooting out political dissent against Abbas and the PA — likely under the auspices of the PA’s widely condemned security coordination with the Israeli state, although the PA has repeatedly stated that it has halted this policy since July.

According to prisoners’ rights group Addameer, a PA security official had initially said that at least five of the imprisoned journalists were arrested for “leaking information and communicating with hostile parties.”

However, Addameer added, the Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate contacted Palestinian security forces on Wednesday morning and were told that the journalists were detained “in order to pressure Hamas to release another journalist detained in the Gaza Strip,” referring to Fouad Jaradeh, a correspondent for official PA news channel Palestine TV who has been imprisoned in Gaza for more than two months.

Both Hamas and the PA have been criticized for carrying out retaliatory acts on individuals affiliated with the opposing group, most notably in the shape of politically motivated arrests and imprisonment.

Abdin said that Palestinian journalists have been “plunged into the Hamas-Fateh division,” as both groups have targeted journalists in order to quash opposition that could affect their political hold in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank respectively.

The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA) said in a statement on Wednesday that the journalists’ arrests were “part of a marked escalation of violations against media freedoms” in both the West Bank and Gaza.

However, the new law and Abbas’ moves to stifle dissent against the PA are “not just problematic for journalists,” Nashif said. “Any activist or individual who the PA thinks is an opponent can now be arrested without any clear reason.”

The PA has also been accused of conducting sweeping detention campaigns targeting Hamas-affiliated residents of the West Bank, while the PA has escalated measures in recent months to pressure Hamas to relinquish control of the Gaza Strip.

A study by Palestinian think tank al-Shabaka documented the consequences of the PA’s security campaigns, “whose ostensible purpose were to establish law and order,” but have been perceived by locals as criminalizing resistance against Israel.

‘It’s illegal under Palestinian law’

Abdin pointed out that both the website blocking and the new cyber crimes law violated Article 27 of Palestinian Basic Law, which protects the press freedoms of Palestinian citizens, including their right to establish, print, publish, and distribute all forms of media. The law also guarantees protections for citizens who are working within the field of journalism.

The article also prohibits censorship of the media, stating that “no warning, suspension, confiscation, cancellation, or restriction shall be imposed upon the media,” unless a law violating these terms passed a legal ruling.

Abbas, however, has not received permission from the judiciary to approve these far-reaching restrictions on the press, according to Abdin.

Since Hamas won parliamentary elections in 2006, the Palestinian Legislative Council has not convened in Ramallah, meaning that the vast majority of laws passed by the PA in the past ten years have been passed by Abbas, who extended his presidency indefinitely in 2009, via presidential decrees.

Al-Haq has pointed out that the new legislation violates international law, including Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).

Rights groups, activists, and journalists have demanded that the PA amend the law to abide by pre-existing Palestinian legislation, rescind its blockage of news sites, and end its practice of routinely arresting Palestinian activists, writers, journalists, and others for their political opinions.

Artists boycott I$raHell sponsored festival in Germany

NOVANEWS

Four artists have cancelled their scheduled performances at an international festival in Berlin citing the festival’s partnership with the Nazi Jewish embassy and their support for the Palestinian call for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.

The Pop-Kultur festival, which is due to take place in Berlin next week, is an annual event that attracts thousands of visitors. While the two-day event also boasts over 30 sponsors including several internationally recognised brands, ‘Israel’ appears to be the only foreign country taking a keen interest.

Tunisian singer-songwriter Emel Mathlouthi, one of the four to cancel their performance, said in a statement posted on Facebook yesterday that she “was looking forward to playing until [I] realised the festival was sponsored by Israeli embassy”. The musician went on to say: “As things get tougher inside and outside Palestine, what each one of us can always do is show solidarity and empathy, as artists it starts by being true and faithful.”

Announcing their cancellation, the Egyptian group Islam Chipsy said on Monday that they had cancelled their performance because of the participation of the Nazi embassy. The group posted on Facebook that they wanted to make it clear that their music seeks to “resist violence, persecution and discrimination of any kind against each other”.

Mohammad Abu Hajar of the Mazzaj Rap Band, who was previously jailed in Syria for his activism, explained why his group had cancelled its appearance last week:

It did not take us a minute to know what we had to do; we will not participate in a festival that accepts the partnership with an embassy representing a state and a government – led by right-wing party Likud and Netanyahu – which openly declared on many different occasions anti-Arab, anti-Muslim and anti-Black attitudes.

“Given this and its perpetration of all previous government’s colonial behaviour, we understand the partnership with an embassy as an attempt to whitewash the image of its government and an endorsement of its behaviour.”

Abu Hajar went on to say that the festival cannot achieve its stated aim of bringing artists from different backgrounds together on one stage under such conditions. “Our stand is not against a culture, but resistance against a discriminatory, colonial government,” he added. “It is not merely an opinion that we disagree with, but a whole set of oppressive structures, manifesting themselves in the policies of the Israeli state.”

Syrian DJ and producer Hello Psychaleppo, the third artist to cancel, said on Monday that at the time he agreed to take part in the festival over a couple of months ago, he was not aware that the Nazi embassy was amongst the sponsors of the event.

The Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI) welcomed the cancellations saying in a statement released yesterday: “[PACBI] salutes the artists who have cancelled their participation in Pop-Kultur to protest Israeli sponsorship.”

As in the struggle against apartheid in South Africa, a regime of oppression and racism should never be welcomed in cultural spaces claiming to advocate for openness, inclusion and human rights.

PACBI, a founding member of the Palestinian Boycott, Divestment & Sanctions (BDS) National Committee, went on to condemn Pop-Kultur’s acceptance of Israel’s sponsorship describing the decision as “a conscious act of complicity in whitewashing Israel’s regime of occupation and apartheid”.

Pop-Kultur responded to the string of cancellations in a statement yesterday to confirm that the four artists had cancelled their performances at this year’s festival due to its partnership with the Israeli embassy. They also confirmed that the Nazi embassy “partly contributes to the travel expenses for artists performing at the festival”.

Meanwhile, Artists for Palestine UK (APUK) published an open letter addressed to UK musicians scheduled to perform at Pop-Kultur calling on them to withdraw from the event.

“When you signed up to play Berlin Pop-Kultur, you possibly didn’t know that the Israeli embassy in Germany was a sponsor. Maybe you also don’t know that Palestinian civil society, living under Israeli military occupation or in exile, is appealing to artists not to take part in events sponsored by the state of Israel, in solidarity with the Palestinians’ long struggle for rights and freedom.”

“But now that you do know, will you follow the example of the musicians who have withdrawn from Pop-Kultur in the past few days?”

APUK, whose pledge to uphold the cultural boycott of I$raHell has been signed by more than 1,200 UK artists continued:

You have the power to tell the Palestinians they are not alone under occupation and in exile. Please use your power. Please withdraw from Berlin Pop-Kultur.

Pop-Kultur is one of several cultural festivals which the Nazi embassy has been keen to support. The Edinburgh Fringe, one of the UK’s major festivals, also partnered with the Nazi embassy. Critics say that under the banner of coexistence and cultural cooperation Nazi regime is trying to whitewash its brutal occupation of Palestine and the long list of human rights abuses committed by its occupying forces against the Palestinians.

Barcelona’s Zionist chief rabbi urges Jews to move to I$raHell

NOVANEWS

Zionist Rabbi Meir Bar-Hen

In the aftermath of this week’s terrorist attacks in Barcelona, the city’s chief Zionist rabbi has warned his community that Jews in the region are doomed because of the threat of radical ‘Islam’.

At least 14 people were killed and over 100 injured in two separate Saudi Zio-Wahhabi terrorist attacks in Barcelona and the nearby coastal town of Cambrils. Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) claimed responsibility for the attack on Las Ramblas in Barcelona.

“I tell my congregants: Don’t think we’re here for good, and I encourage them to buy property in Israel,” Zionist Rabbi Meir Bar-Hen said in an interview with Jewish news agency JTA.

“This place is lost. Don’t repeat the mistake of Algerian Jews, of Venezuelan Jews. Better [get out] early than late.”

Zionist Bar-Hen said the attacks highlighted the presence of a large Muslim community with “radical fringes” in the region, and alleged Spanish authorities are reluctant to confront ‘Islamist’  terrorism.

Zionist rabbi cited the recent decision to allow Palestinian Leila Khaled to enter Spain for a book festival as apparent evidence of his claim. Khaled was involved in high-profile airplane hijackings in 1969 and 1970.

Zionist rabbi, who was keen to stress that he was speaking in a private capacity and not on behalf of the community, also said this applied more widely to Europe as a whole.

“Europe is lost,” he concluded.

The Federation of Jewish Communities of Spain appear not to share Zionist Bar-Hen’s pessimistic outlook. The organization issued a statement Thursday, saying: “Spanish Jews trust the State Security Corps that work daily to prevent radical fanatics and Islamists from sowing chaos and pain in our cities.”

The group also urged politicians to “deal intelligently and determinedly with the struggle against fanaticism and in favor of freedom and democracy.”

Naziyahu to meet Putin amid Syrian army advances

NOVANEWS

Nazi Prime Minister Naziyahu is about to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi on Wednesday in the face of the Syrian army advances against militants, including those backed by the Nazi regime of I$raHell.

In a statement released on Saturday, Naziyahu’s office said the two sides would “discuss the latest developments in the region” during their meeting in the Black Sea resort.

The main issues that are expected to be raised at the meeting include Nazi worries about a ceasefire agreement in Syria and a foothold which Nazi regime thinks Iran is finding in the Arab country.

Last week, Nazi premier claimed that Iran was increasing its presence in Syria as the Saudi Zio-Wahhabi Daesh terrorist group was being driven out of the country.

“I’ll give you a summary in one sentence—ISIS (Daesh) going out, Iran coming in,” Naziyahu said, summarizing a briefing with Yossi Cohen, the head of Nazi Gestapo ‘Mossad’ spy agency.

Later this week, an Nazi military delegation, headed by Cohen, will visit Washington for talks with senior White House and American officials.

Over the past few months, Saudi Zio-Wahhabi terrorist Daesh has retreated from much of the areas under its control amid sweeping gains made by Syrian army soldiers and allied fighters against the terror outfit.

Bouthaina Shaaban, political and media adviser to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, said on Friday that the war on Syria had reached its “penultimate stage” as foreign powers that backed militant groups were changing their policies.

Iran has been providing advisory support to the Syrian military in its counter-terrorism operations.

On the contrary,Nazi regime has been regularly attacking positions held by pro-Damascus forces in Syria, claiming that the attacks are retaliatory. Syria says the Nazi raids are meant to shore up the Saudi Zio-Wahhabi Takfiri terrorists.

There are also reports that the Nazi regime has been providing medical treatment to the extremists wounded in Syria and supplying arms to them.

Back in June, United Nations UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres warned that the growing interactions between the Nazi army and Syria militants could lead to escalation.

UK: Zionist puppet regime to jail pro-Palestinian protesters

NOVANEWS

A group of five pro-Palestinian activists in the UK face possible prison sentences after being arrested during protests outside an Nazi-owned weapons manufacturing company.

Charged with a breach of the Trade Union and Labor Relations Act, the protesters face at least six months in prison and a fine of up to £5,000, the media reported Sunday.

They were arrested in July following a protest in the West Midlands town of Shenstone that forced the Nazi UAV Engines Ltd plant, a subsidiary of ‘Israeli’ drone manufacturer Nazi Elbit Systems, to shut down all operations for two days.

The demonstration saw activists put small coffins outside the factory and lay down next to them to raise awareness about the Nazi regime’s record of killing Palestinian children over the years-long occupation of the country.

Palestine Action, the organization that helped organize the demonstration, said all of the accused would plead not guilty in the case.

“They [protesters] believe that the factory is complicit in illegal activity and that they were preventing a crime,” the group’s Birmingham and Manchester branches said in a statement.

A lawyer for the protesters said “the lawfulness of [Elbit and UAV Engine’s] activity in its factory” was one of the issues that they were going to discuss in the case.

Based in the northern 1948 Nazi occupied city of Haifa, Elbit produces range of military equipment, including drones, aircraft, weapon control systems, and artillery.

The company’s customers include the Nazi[PPP army, US Air Force, the British Royal Air Force, and the French Defense Ministry.

A group of European Banks and financial institutions have on several occasions boycotted the company for arming Israeli military forces despite growing criticism from the international community.

The efforts are part of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) global movement against Nazi companies.

The British government has been under increasing pressure from the Nazi regime to put a ban on pro-Palestinian demonstrations.

A number of universities in the UK have already banned their students from holding events in solidarity with the people of Palestine.

Portuguese photographers pledge to boycott Nazi regime, cultural institutions

NOVANEWS

Over 40 Portuguese photographers, teachers of photography and photography students pledged on Saturday, which marked World Photography Day, not to accept professional invitations or financing from Israel, and to” refuse to collaborate with Israeli cultural institutions complicit in Israel’s regime of occupation, colonialism and apartheid,” according to the official website of the Boycott Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.

According to the statement from the BDS movement, the pledge was the “first of its kind,” as the photographers pledged to boycott Israel “until it complies with international law and respects the human rights of Palestinians.”

Among the pledge supporters were Jo o Pina, winner of the 2017 Pr mio Esta o Imagem Viana do Castelo, Portugal’s only photojournalism award, TV personality and travel photographerNuno Lobito, Miguel Carri o, winner of the 2012 Concelho da Bienal de Vila Franca de Xira award, Jos Soudo, a veteran Photography teacher and Historian, and Jo o Henriques, winner of the 2015 Fnac New Talents Award.

The statement quoted Carri o as saying: “having witnessed first-hand the crimes Israel is committing daily against Palestinians, signing up to this initiative has become a natural step. It is fundamental to promote this effort through all means possible.”

“It is time for Israel’s brand of apartheid to enjoy the same treatment as South African apartheid and be target of a comprehensive international boycott until it respects human rights,” the statement quoted Lobita as saying.

“Photographers can no longer be silent about the treatment of their Palestinian colleagues living under an indefensible occupation that has lasted for over half a century. Palestinians have called for solidarity through boycotts and this pledge is our practical contribution to their struggle.”

The statement noted the struggles of Palestinian photographers and journalists under the Israeli occupation, highlighted that artists have been denied visas by the Israeli military establishment, preventing them from participating in conferences and performances internationally, in addition to being detained at checkpoints, arrested, having their equipment broken, and being “exposed to the same violence perpetrated by the Israeli army on all Palestinians.”

The BDS movement was founded in 2005 by a swath of Palestinian civil society as a peaceful movement to restore Palestinian rights in accordance with international law through strategies of boycotting Israeli products and cultural institutions, divesting from companies complicit in violations against Palestinians, and implementing state sanctions against the Israeli government.

BDS activists target companies that act in compliance with Israel’s illegal occupation of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and encourage supporters to avoid buying Israeli products in order to put pressure on the Israeli government to end the half-century occupation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem the decade-long Israeli siege on the Gaza Strip.

As support for the movement has grown, the Israeli government has introduced anti-BDS policies, including passing a law in March banning foreigners who have openly expressed support in BDS from entering the country.

Nazi soldiers attacked by Nazi youth who ‘mistook’ the soldiers for Palestinians

NOVANEWS

Two Nazi soldiers were attacked on Friday night in a public park in the town of Pardes Hanna-Karkur, south of Haifa in northern occupied Palestine 1948, by a group of young Nazi who allegedly thought the soldiers were Palestinians, according to Zionist media.

Zionist Ynet news reported on Sunday that the two Nazi soldiers were sitting in the park with a young woman when they were attacked by the group of youth, who according to the soldiers, yelled “you are Arabs” at the soldiers, who were on vacation and presumably not in uniform.

The group of Nazi youth then attacked the soldiers with the end of a hookah pipe and other blunt objects.

Zionist news site Arutz Sheva reported that the soldiers were “lightly injured” and treated at the Hillel Yaffe Medical Center, while the father of one of the soldiers filed a complaint to the Nazi police.

Both Zionist media Arutz Sheva and Ynet reported that the father expressed his outrage over the attack, exclaiming “soldiers go on holiday and are attacked by criminals only because they look like Arabs to them,”  adding “they lynched them, it could have ended in death.”

“They attacked them with a pipe from a hookah and other blunt objects. How low can we fall? There are two soldiers who were physically and mentally harmed. And if they were Arabs, then we have to hurt them? We are shocked and call for them to be dealt with,”  the father said..

Violent attacks on Zionist that “look like Arabs” are not uncommon in the Nazi state, as anti-Palestinian sentiment is often expressed in the form of so-called “price tag attacks,” a term used by right-wing Israelis to refer to the attacks they carry out on Palestinians and their property.

In October 2015, one such attack caught the attention of international media organizations when an a Jewish man, Uri Rezken, was stabbed by another Jew who believed Rezken was Palestinian.

Meanwhile, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), there were a total of 107 reported Nazi Jewish settler attacks against Palestinians and their properties in the West Bank and occupied East Jerusalem in 2016. OCHA has recorded 65 such attacks since the beginning of the year.
