Milos Kovic: The renewal of the British Left

Print edition

Nowadays, the common sense can hardly believe in the tangible fact that NATO is endangering the safety of the two nuclear powers, Russia and China. Judging by the antirussian campaign in the Western media, as well as the deployment of NATO troops in Eastern Europe and the Far East, it is as if the war has already started.

The territories on which NATO entered a series of attacks against sovereign States, launched by bombing Republika Srpska and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, remained in ruins and in chronic ethnic conflicts. The Balkans are now one of the world’s crisis hot spots, along with Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and Syria. Our Balkan concerns are, however, a trifle compared to what is threatening the entire humanity.

What could stop this course of events? The observers who allude to the theory of realism in international relationships, argue that NATO can no longer be stopped. They say that it is not reason, nor kindness, who take decisions in the relationships between the countries, but power and might. Benjamin Disraeli, one of the founders of this ideology, but also of the modern British imperialism, argued that „power can be stopped only by power“, regarding the conflict between Britain and Russia in the Balkans.

The second-best option for humanity would, however, change the foreign policy of the leading NATO member countries. The awareness has grown in Western societies about the fact that small, privileged business, clerical, military and academic circles, located mainly in the US and the UK, led their own countries and the world to the brink of downfall. This idea maturation cannot be seen in the big Western media, but at the elections, the voice of the people is each time louder. Citizens of the United States, Britain, France and Germany are, in fact, frightened and horrified. They are dying in terrorist attacks on their own streets and workplaces, in their homes. Thanks to the mass immigration of refugees from countries that are being destroyed by NATO, the identity of Western countries is changing at a tremendous speed. Along with xenophobia, the ongoing Americanization is gradually shutting down a centuries-old European tradition of unity, solidarity and concern for fellow human beings.

This popular revolt can nowhere be seen so well as in the Anglo-Saxon world, the epicenter of the most important global trends. From the beginning, however, it was clear that Boris Johnson and Donald Trump are not the true alternatives. According to their social relationships and beliefs, they belong to the privileged, neoliberal, belligerent elite. This is confirmed by a series of russophobic statements of Boris Johnson when he was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs, including those about Russia’s responsibility for causing trouble in Montenegro and in the Balkans. The most powerful man in the world, the US President Donald Trump, under the pressure of the „deep state“, accused of conspiring with the Russians, retreating and staggering, has dragged Montenegro into NATO and escalated the war in Syria.

Should we expect changes from the Left? Bernie Sanders called his astonished followers to vote for the candidate of the military-industrial complex, Hillary Clinton. In the UK elections that will take place on June 9th, the Labour party will however, as the most powerful opposition party, be led by Jeremy Corbin. Judging by the polls, although less and less reliable, the Tories will win, because they took the monopoly on the key issues of immigration, identity and the European Union thanks to Brexit. Therefore, is Serbia, the country of poverty, unemployment, corruption, a failed health and education system, bombed and occupied by NATO troops, so indifferent to what is happening in the British left?

The fact that Jeremy Corbyn is asking for the containment of privatization, the renovation of education, health and social care and that he is warning about the differences between the ever-poorer majority and the ever-richer minority, is not the most important thing for the topic of this article. He was, in fact, along with Tony Ben, Harold Pinter, Tariq Ali, George Galloway and others, one of the founders of the „Stop the War Coalition,“ which, on the eve of the invasion of Iraq in February 2003, gathered in the London protests, according to some reports, over a million people. Corbyn was very strongly opposed to the invasion of Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and Syria. Moreover, he said that the crisis in Ukraine was triggered by NATO while encircling Russia and entering the territories that are vital for the Russian security.

Lastly, Jeremy Corbyn was with Tony Ben, the only parliamentary deputy who took part in the protests against the bombing of the FR Yugoslavia in 1999. Together with other 15 deputies, in March 1999, he signed a protest and condemnation of NATO attacks on Yugoslavia. He argued in the Parliament that no sovereign State would ever sign the agreement offered in Rambouillet. He condemned NATO for killing civilians, bombing the Radio Television building (RTS), the use of depleted uranium. With 18 MPs, he demanded in December 1999 to stop the persecution of Serbs and Roma in Orahovac (Kosovo). In December 2004, he was one of 25 MPs who welcomed the article by John Pilger which counter-proved the war propaganda about genocide against the Albanians in Kosovo.

Because of this attitude, Corbyn has not been accused or insulted just once. His social program has further contributed to the fact that, along with Putin and Trump, he is the most attacked public figure in the British media.

Does all this mean that the left has finally become more alive? Does the cake in the face of Bernard Henri Lévy mean that the Serbian leftists are coming out from a macabre embrace of the NATO rhetoric, scholarships and stiftung foundations? With a little patience, we will find out that as well.

Trump: Jerusalem is the “undivided capital of the state of Israel.”

By: Mantiq al-Tayr

1. The next Israeli Vice President for American Affairs (IVPFAA), Islam hating slumlord and KKK-endorsed Donald Trump has a Zuckerbook page with the text in italics below. The statement is essentially a social media suck up to Israel and its lobby in the US. Additional comments by me and the tuyuur are in are black and not in italics. Note to Shas Party members, all red-highlighting is being done by today’s guest editor, Vladimir Putin.

NEW YORK, NY – Donald J. Trump met privately today with Prime Minister Netanyahu for over an hour at Mr. Trump’s residence in Trump Tower. The two have known each other for many years and had the opportunity to discuss many topics important to both countries.

This is a prelude to what follows and indicates that what follows will be Trump’s complete and total submission to Israel. This guy tapped out before the match even began.

Mr. Trump and the Prime Minister discussed the special relationship between America and Israel and the unbreakable bond between the two countries.

Yup, we’re fucked when we see “special relationship” and “unbreakable bond” in the same sentence. Total cave in about to happen (again).

The topics of military assistance, security and regional stability were addressed. Mr. Trump agreed that the military assistance provided to Israel and missile defense cooperation with Israel are an excellent investment for America.

Utter bullshit and everyone knows it. I’m sure Trump is going to endorse Israel’s racist wall and probably ask for Israel’s help in building the one for Canada Mexico.

Mr. Trump said that under a Trump administration, there will be extraordinary strategic, technological, military and intelligence cooperation between the two countries. Mr. Trump recognized Israel as a vital partner of the United States in the global war against radical Islamic terrorism.

There already exists “extraordinary” cooperation between the US and Israel in all of those fields if by extraordinary you mean that Israel can steal anything it wants, has spies planted in all three branches of the federal government, and can have congress jumping up to applaud Israeli politicians so quickly and furiously you’d think their chairs were on fire.

“Radical Islamic terrorism” is the lifeline of the both the US and the Israeli National Security States – until Russia takes over that role again. Israel loves the war on terror and so does the US. As I have noted repeatedly the war on terror creates more terrorists and thus is a self perpetuating entity that has taken on a life of its own and is fueled by the major media most of which is controlled by Hizbullah of course.

They discussed at length the nuclear deal with Iran, the battle against ISIS and many other regional security concerns.

Mr. Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu discussed at length Israel’s successful experience with a security fence that helped secure its borders.

I knew this was coming. Yes, they discussed Israel’s apartheid wall and how cool Israeli bigotry is. Fits right in with Trump whose advisors include Islam haters like Walid Phares and Mike Flynn.

They discussed Israel’s burgeoning hi-tech and biotech economy and how it has made stunning advances improving and saving lives around the world. In particular, Mr. Trump noted Israel’s emergence as a world leader in cyber defense and security and its cooperation with the United States in this regard.

Like Stuxnet for example. Here’s a nice quote:

“The film also quotes other sources in the US intelligence community who accuse Israel of disrupting a joint covert operation to sabotage computers used in Iran’s nuclear program by acting rashly and in opposition to agreed-upon plans.”

Yup, that’s the Israel we all know and love. They do whatever they want and they make us do whatever they want. That’s what it means when politicians say that there can be “no daylight” between Israel and its sub the US.

And let’s not forget how those wonderful Israelis hacked into iPhone making every single iPhone owner a potential target.

Mr. Trump recognized that Israel and its citizens have suffered far too long on the front lines of Islamic terrorism.

And is this why Israel supports al-Qa’ida? But I digress.

He agreed with Prime Minister Netanyahu that the Israeli people want a just and lasting peace with their neighbors, but that peace will only come when the Palestinians renounce hatred and violence and accept Israel as a Jewish State.

Isn’t it nice that Trump’s position reads like it was written by AIPAC? And next comes the killer quote. By the way, just who are “the Israeli people in Trump’s opinion? Does he mean only Jewish citizens of Israel? Does he include the Palestinian native inhabitants who are citizens of Israel? Does he include all Jews world wide? I believe the answer is below.

Finally, Mr. Trump acknowledged that Jerusalem has been the eternal capital of the Jewish People for over 3000 years,

Wow. According to Trump the Jewish people have had Jerusalem as a capital for 3000 years. So if that is the case, does the Trump campaign believe that the Jewish people do not have allegiances to the countries and capitals where they were born? Just asking.

and that the United States, under a Trump administration, will finally accept the long-standing Congressional mandate to recognize Jerusalem as the undivided capital of the State of Israel.

There is no such congressional mandate. Congress is not in charge of foreign policy, the executive branch is. It is of course true that Congress votes for this shit all the time and everyone on the fucking planet, including Trump of course, knows why.

The meeting concluded with both leaders promising the highest level of mutual support and cooperation should Mr. Trump have the honor and privilege of being elected President of the United States.

2. Okay, it’s video time. Here’s the next IVPFAA in a brief video.  Notice which of the two questions he answers first.

If you are unfamiliar with Grant Smith, this somewhat long clip (around 10 minutes) is a good way to see the kind of work he does.  It’s a nice one to watch after watching the first video.

Act for I$raHell

Act for Israel

By: Mantiq al-Tayr

1. Rep. Ron DeSantis (Likud, FL) sure does love Israel. He really loves Israel.  This former legal advisor to Seal Team 6 and haunter of the Joint Task Force in GTMO – and lover of GTMO as far as I can tell, but he loves Israel even more – but I am already digressing.

Okay, where was I?

Yes, this lover of Israel and frequent defender of Israel is doing something right now, and I mean literally right fucking now (RFN) that I want to get to. In a minute.

First let me tell you about the letter he wrote to Trump using his own US Israeli Congressional stationary, telling President to be Trump that he had damn fucking well better move the US Israeli embassy to Jerusalem. You can read the whole letter here on Desantis’ website. Please do note that DeSantis initiated the letter and then got 101 other Israel-suck ups to sign it. Here is an excerpt: (Note to Shas Party members, red-highlighting is done by today’s guest editor Ron Desantis:)

“During your campaign, you made a forceful pledge to move our American (sic) embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, which is the eternal capital of the Jewish people and the State of Israel.”

Hmmm. Let me digress. Since when do we pay for government officials to engage in metaphysics talking about the eternalness of anything? And if it is the capital of all Jews, then does DeSantis think that Jews should be loyal to Israel first – as he is even though he is not a Jew?

Anyway, the letter continues:

We write to express support for this policy and to urge you to take swift action to relocate our (sic) embassy to Jerusalem as soon as you take office.

Israel is one of the United States’ closest allies and stands alone in the Middle East for its commitment to democratic ideals. Moving the embassy will strenghtn the unique alliance between Israel and the United States and send a clear message to the world that we support Israel in recognizing Jerusalem as its eternal capital.

You can read the whole letter here and see if your congressional rep was one of the signatories.

Not long after that letter was written DeSantis brought up the issue again in this really weird press release.

Washington, DC – Rep. Ron DeSantis (Likud-06), Chairman of the National Security Subcommittee, today convened an Advisory Council for Israel and Middle East Security. Its membership of advisors from Florida and around the country will explore ways to repair U.S.–Israel relations and combat security threats facing Israel and the United States.

“With the pending relocation of our embassy in Israel to Jerusalem and the arrival of the Trump administration, we have entered a new era in American-Israeli relations and have a great opportunity to chart a productive course,” DeSantis said. “My subcommittee conducts oversight over embassy issues and I have been active in highlighting the dangers of the BDS movement and the threat posed by militant Islam. I have no doubt that we will have a lot on our plate moving forward, and having an esteemed group of advisors willing to share their keen insights on these issues will be a great help to me. I thank them for their willingness to assist my efforts to support our friend and ally Israel.”

Nice how he got in the phrase “militant Islam” isn’t it. And of course the anti-BDS theme is there  too along with the let’s move the US embassy to Jerusalem verbiage.

And just to make sure we get the point, the document ends with this:

The Advisory Council for Israel and Middle East Security will help develop policies to help facilitate a more productive American posture in the Middle East, which includes moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Israel’s capital, Jerusalem.

The Adisory Council is a pretty damn long list. Funny how the House’s National Security Subcommittee is in need of an “Advisory Council for Israel and Middle East Security” at all, and second that that council needs to be comprised of only people from Florida with Middle Eastern sounding names. Clearly a bunch of militant Islamists  have taken over the advisory council.

David Robbins, Jacksonville, FL

Phil Rosen, New York, NY

Farley Weiss, Boca Raton, FL

Okay, I can hear you all bitching and moaning “Mantiq, look he has to be this way, he’s in Florida and there you have to be anti-Castro and pro-Israel, though not necessarily in that. order. It’s not like he is advocating that Israel keep the Golan Heights.”

Washington, DC – Rep. Ron DeSantis (FL-06) issued the following statement of support for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s position that the Golan Heights will remain under the control of Israel:

“For almost 50 years, Israel has maintained peace in the Golan Heights region and I support Prime Minister Netanyahu’s position that Israel should maintain control. If Israel were to cede the Golan Heights the area would become a magnet for terrorism and would give Israel’s enemies a launching pad from which to wage war against the Jewish state.  U.S. policy should support the Prime Minister’s position and recognize the Golan Heights as a part of Israel.”

Now you won’t find this on his website, or on his twitter feed, but Ronny boy is at this very minute on an official National Security Subcommittee-sponsored trip  to Jerusalem to investigate moving the US embassy to Jerusalem. It’s a short trip, just 24 hours and Desantis and his committee seem to be very quiet about it. But when he gets back he’ll continue to put the pressure on Trump.

Please let him know how much you appreciate his working for Israel. Go here:

and you can look in the upper right hand corner for links to his social media sites.

Interesting enough, Rep.  Dennis Ross (Israel Home, Fl), who is reported to also be going on the trip is said to have denied that he is going according to this Press TV link.

2. Okay it is video time. Watch this unbelievable suck up to Israel. Can there be a bigger whore than this guy? Probably, but he does set the bar pretty high. Please make sure there are no children in the room when you watch this.

ِTime for a make up call.

Telling The Goyim How To Talk About ‘Israel’

Telling The Goyim How To Talk About Israel

Image result for Goyim CARTOON

“But one must be at least a Jew to tell the goyim how they may or may not talk about Israel.”

Bret Stevens

That’s pretty much what the whole Plame/Giraldi brouhaha is all about.

1. Bret Stephens is in such a tizzy it is actually almost enjoyable. Going after Plame and Giraldi this week he attacks damn near everyone else too that he has a problem with. He has problems with an awful lot of people.

“I believe the thesis of “The Israel Lobby,” the 2007 book by Stephen Walt and John Mearsheimer, is a sound one. The idea that a small group of (largely) Jewish-Americans manipulates Congress, the media and other levers of power and influence for the benefit of a malign Jewish state has no connection to previous anti-Semitic conspiracy theories alleging the same thing.”

Of course he does not believe this, he is implying, if not outright saying, that Walt and Mearsheimer are anti-Semites for documenting the obvious. I remember well being told by one of my US senators to my face that the power of the Israeli lobby in Congress is overwhelming, but I digress.

“I believe Valerie Plame, the former C.I.A. operative and fading liberal celebrity, when she says she missed the anti-Semitic “undercurrents” in an article she called “provocative, but thoughtful.” I believe her when she says she “zeroed in on the neocon criticism” but missed the article’s more prejudicial elements.”

Yes, and we here at Mantiq al-Tayr believe that neocon zionists want what’s best for America and the world.

“The article was titled “America’s Jews Are Driving America’s Wars.” It uses variants of the word “Jew” 22 times. The word “neocons” appears only twice. I believe Plame is telling the truth when she says the subtlety was lost on her.”

2. Back in April of 2003 – don’t you miss the good old days when wars for Israel were still fresh? But I digress. Anyway, as I was saying, back in April of 2003 Haaretz published an article entitled “White Man’s Burden.” The article opens with the following sentence.

“The war in Iraq was conceived by 25 neoconservative intellectuals, most of them Jewish, who are pushing President Bush to change the course of history.”

Okay, I can hear you all saying “Mantiq, wtf does this mean?”

It means, ladies and gentlemen, that Phil Giraldi had to be fired from The American Conservative and demonized by exactly the same people he named in his now famous article entitled “America’s Jews Are Driving America’s Wars.”  In the article he gets very specific and of course does not say that all Jews do this. He goes after the neocon cockroaches that infest the corridors of power in the US and who put Israel’s interests ahead of those of the US as casually as Trump talks trash about women.

The uproar this is causing is, well, informative.

He had the audacity to say that these neocons are usually Jews and that such people should recuse themselves from, among other things, getting the US into all sorts of shitty wars that do not benefit the United States. For his efforts he has been vilified by exactly the same people he was calling out. What a surprise.  The American Conservative should be ashamed.

It’s really too bad Phil doesn’t have a book out right now, because he has gotten so much negative publicity that he’d probably make the Jerusalem Washington New York Times Post best seller list. But once again, I digress.

Here’s one of the really awful things he noted:

“One might also add that neocons as a group were founded by Jews and are largely Jewish, hence their universal attachment to the state of Israel. They first rose into prominence when they obtained a number of national security positions during the Reagan Administration and their ascendancy was completed when they staffed senior positions in the Pentagon and White House under George W. Bush. Recall for a moment Paul Wolfowitz, Doug Feith, and Scooter Libby. Yes, all Jewish and all conduits for the false information that led to a war that has spread and effectively destroyed much of the Middle East. Except for Israel, of course. Philip Zelikow, also Jewish, in a moment of candor, admitted that the Iraq War, in his opinion, was fought for Israel.”

Let me digress for a moment. You might recall that Zelikow was executive director of the commission that looked into 9/11.

And it might even be true that when Zelikow was made executive director of that commission no one knew that he had been:

(Note to Shas Party members,  all red highlighting is by today’s guest editor, Mulaykah al-Alamaniyya.)

“the author of a very important document issued by the White House in September 2002 that really turned military doctrine on it’s head and said that the United States could become involved in preemptive war, preemptive defense. That we could attack a nation that didn’t pose an immediate military threat to this country. And obviously in September of 2002 it sure appeared that that document was being written with one target in mind: Iraq.”

Isn’t that pretty fucking interesting? All the tuyuur here at Mantiq al-Tayr thought so too.

Let me summarize this for all the brain-dead Jerusalem Washington New York Times Post readers.  The very guy who said out loud that the Iraq war was fought for Israel is the guy who drafted a White House document justifying preemptive war and of which Iraq was the target.

But it gets worse, with Zionism it always does.

End of digression.

One of the Israeli PR specialists Giraldi named was Bret Stephens whose pro-Israel resume is longer than long dong silver’s (fake) dong.

Among Stephen’s accomplishments was heading the Jerusalem Post back in 2002. As this largely fawning article notes:

“He began his career at The Wall Street Journal, but moved to Israel at age 28 to become editor-in-chief of The Jerusalem Post in 2002 during a tumultuous time. He led the Post through the worst years of the second intifada, pointed it in a neoconservative direction . . .”

This article points out that he left that position to come to back to the US in order to advocate for Israel.

“One of the reasons I left The Wall Street Journal for the Post was because I felt the Western media was getting the story wrong,” Stephens said. “I do not think Israel is the aggressor here. Insofar as getting the story right helps Israel, I guess you could say I’m trying to help Israel.”

So that’s his job – advocating for Israel. Keep that in mind whenever you read him or even worse, hear him.

Also, keep this in mind: for Stephens, anti-Zionism and anti-semitism are synonyms

as he says here:

Stephens: We should remember that anti-Semitism is a mutating virus that changes forms to suit the times. The hatred of Jews based on religious reasons became anti-Semitism based on racial reasons, which in our day has become anti-Zionism based on national reasons. But each of them are expressions of the same hatred.

This is complete, total, unadulterated, Zionist Bullshit and it is designed to prevent Americans from understanding a key ingredient regarding “Why America acts so goddamn crazy.” If you happen to notice what the fuck is going on and point it out to others, you are subject to attacks which among other things point to the accuracy of your thesis.

Do you want war with Iran? Giraldi doesn’t either and he is aware that the US war machine isn’t just composed of neocons in government and the media, though he does not list all of the culprits here.

“To be sure, the urging to strike Iran comes from many quarters, to include generals in the Administration who always think first in terms of settling problems through force, from a Saudi government obsessed with fear over Iranian hegemony, and, of course, from Israel itself.”

He then writes:

“But what makes the war engine run is provided by American Jews who have taken upon themselves the onerous task of starting a war with a country that does not conceivably threaten the United States. They have been very successful at faking the Iranian threat, so much so that nearly all Republican and most Democratic congressmen as well as much of the media seem to be convinced that Iran needs to be dealt with firmly, most definitely by using the U.S. military, and the sooner the better.”

Stephens likes the idea of bombing Iran. And I guess to prove his point that it isn’t just neocon Jews who push for this, he did he did a masterful job convincing a bunch of  zionist Christian morons to work to undermine the nuclear deal with Iran, a deal which he wanted killed. The outfit is John Hagee’s “Christians United For Israel” and Stephens spoke candidly with them as he most likely didn’t think his comments would see the light of day. However, Glenn Greeenwald published the entire content of Stephens conference call with CUFI which I just realized is IFUC spelled backwards.

The single most amazing thing about Stephens’ discussion with the CUFI folks was the utter obsequiousness of the CUFI board members when they spoke to Stephens and his awareness that he was in complete control. He was telling the goyim what Israel wanted them to think about Iran and they just sucked it up. It’s worth listening to for that reason alone.

As Greenwald notes in the article – and he is speaking strictly about neocons:

They want to keep Iran isolated and demonized and ultimately to depose its leadership through war or other means of aggression. They hate the Iran deal precisely because it’s likely to avert that aggression and normalize the world’s relations with that country, making the war they’ve long craved much less likely.”

Amen, brother, Amen.

3. I’ll close with this:

Eli Clifton wrote this report about Bret Stephens speaking at a Tikvah Fund gathering, Stephens had this to say about many of his fellow Jews:

Thank God I was born a Jew because otherwise I’d be a raging anti-Semite… [be]cause I tear my hair out all the time at my fellow Jews. But rare is it in history that we’ve been blessed to live in a country where we can say anything we want and actually get away with it. And it is a scandal, it seems to me, if we fail to live up to the promise of our American citizenship to do all we can to assure the survival of the Jewish state and the Jewish people.

Clifton’s comments on the above comment are worth taking a look at.

4. Okay it’s video time.  This one remains one of my all time favorites.

American New Ambassador to the Nazi regime Talking About ‘Israel’

Israel’s New Ambassador to Israel Talking About Israel

By: Mantiq al-Tayr

1. What do the following people all have in common (besides being consummately evil)?

President Trump

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson

Defense Secretary James Mattis

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin

National Security Advisor HR McMaster

Homeland Security Advisor Tom Bossert

CIA Director Mike Pompeo

Director of National Intelligence Dan Coates

NSA Director Mike Rogers

Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley

Chief Economic Advisor Gary Cohn

Deputy National Security Advisor Dina Powell

Senior Advisor Stephen Miller

All of these people have visited Israel since Israel’s newest ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, took on the job of representing Israeli interests in Israel back in May of this year. All are senior members of the Trump administration. Friedman is quite proud of this accomplishment.

Earlier this month, Friedman spoke to the Zionist Organization of America, a gathering that was just crawling with traitors and assholes. More on that, maybe, in a later post.

Talking at the ZOA gala in New York, Friedman went into a pro-Israel porn rant that would make anyone outside of the Shas party with shit for brains seriously question where his loyalties lie. He makes the former Israeli ambassador to Israel, Dan Shapiro, look like a member of Hizbullah’s Central Committee.

Note to Shas Party members, all red highlighting is done by today’s guest editor Mulaykah al-Amrikiyyah. She and Haifa have agreed to trade off on being guest editor.  No fears, Hasan will be back soon too.

Did you know that: “No loyal American need ever apologize for loving Israel and urging our Government to support it. Support for Israel is a quintessential American value.”

This Zionist Bullshit was immediately followed with: “And so having the mandate from the President to strengthen the relationship between the United States and Israel is simply the opportunity of a lifetime, and a day does not go by where I do not thank God and seek his guidance regarding this extraordinary mission.”

So his mandate is not to represent the US but to instead have the US become even more servile to its Israeli masters.  Sure is nice that he seeks God’s guidance in his mission. Foreign policy really should be based on faith in an invisible man who talks to (some) people?

But it gets much, much, oh so much fucking worse. With Zionism it always does.

Did you know that a US president must be loyal to Israel and that doing things Israel doesn’t like is “betrayal”.  Yes, the US somehow managed not to veto UN resolution 2334 which, among other things, tells the Israelis to stop fucking around in East Jerusalem. Friedman focused on the Western Wall in Jerusalem (which might actually be part of a trash dump, and may very well not be the wall Friedman thinks it is, but I digress), because it is illegally occupied territory according to the wording of the text, which is exactly what it is. Not vetoing this resolution is, according to Friedman “. . .perhaps the greatest betrayal of Israel by a sitting president in American history. . .”

That’s right, the Oval Office has to be loyal to a foreign power and it ain’t Russia.

Fortunately now that Trump is in the White House, everything is kosher again. After false framing the UNESCO fiasco and praising fellow (fellowette?) Israel-firster Nickki Haley, Friedman tosses out this gem:

“In May of this year there were two firsts that you may have noticed. Early that month I had the privilege to MC the very first Yom Haatzmaut celebration in the White House, hosted by VP Mike Pence.Later that month, and far more striking, President Trump became the first sitting president to visit the Kotel Hamaaravi – the Western Wall, a visit that resonated throughout the Middle East. I should also note that just a day before that visit, I was the first US Ambassador in history to attend a celebration for Yom Yerushalayim. I think we’re making progress.”

Yom Ha’atzmaut is Israeli independence day. Yom Yerushalayim is Jerusalem Day a day celebrating the reunification the complete theft of  the entire city of Jerusalem.  Crazy bigoted nut case Israelis like to use that day to run all over Arab parts of the city and harass the shit out of the Palestinians.

This year, Israeli media tended to portray the harassment and terrorizing of Palestinian residents by settlers celebrating Jerusalem Day as isolated incidents, but the fact is the entire day and its festivities are designed to disrupt and undermine Palestinian life in the city.”

So they had another huge  annual hate fest and for the first time the US ambassador (and I use that term losely) attended an event associated with it.  Even a Shas Party member can see what is wrong with this.

But let’s get back to celebrating Israeli Independence in the White House.  The event was hosted by the utterly completely zionized Mike Pence, who btw, the Democrats want to have replace Trump.  Also BTW, he is coming to Israel soon for Hanukah, but I digress. Here are some of Pence’s comments as recounted by an extremist who attended this desecration. Emphasis in bold is by the author this piece.

“And so today we celebrate and we marvel at all that Israel and her people have accomplished…Israel is an eternal testament to the undying fortitude of the Jewish people, to the unfathomable power of human freedom, and to the unending faithfulness of God.  Indeed, though Israel was built by human hands, it’s impossible not to sense that just beneath their history lies the hand of heaven (emphasis by original author).  For as God tells us in his word, speaking to his people so long ago, “I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

I have had to read, for a variety of reasons, a hell of a lot of stuff in Arabic done by extremist types and this is exactly how they sound – which should really not be a surprise to anyone. Judaism blended with Zionism is pretty similar to Islam blended with Wahhabism. No wonder Israel and Saudi Arabia understand each other so well.

Pence also said:

And under President Donald Trump, let me assure you of this — if the world knows nothing else, the world will know this:  America stands with Israel.  (Applause.)  President Trump stands with Israel for the same reason that every freedom-loving American stands with Israel — because her cause is our cause.  Her values are our values.  And her fight is our fight.

He should have added: “And her wars are our wars.” But he didn’t because he didn’t have to.

He drones on:

You know, I’ve seen firsthand the President’s deep affection for Israel and all who cherish her, and so has the world.  Just last week, President Trump stood with Holocaust survivors during the National Days of Remembrance.  And he declared, “I will always stand with the Jewish people, and I will always stand with our great friend and partner, the state of Israel.”

And here comes the Christian Zionism:

For my part, my Christian faith compels me to cherish Israel as well as our deep alliance and historical ties.  The songs of the land of the people of Israel were the anthems of my youth when I was growing up.  You know, my wife and I had the privilege of visiting Israel in 2004 and 2008, and we fulfilled a lifelong dream to bring all of our children to the Holy Land in December of 2014.  It was a joy — inexpressible.

It just gets worse and worse as you read on. With Zionism it always does.

Let’s also get back to the Jerusalem Day hate fest:

Sure am glad the US – did I mention that I use this term loosely – ambassador was proud to be part of the day’s events. In fact, he attended a function that day that was organized by “senior level” people in the right-wing settler movement. The worst of the worst.  Huckabee was there too. Jesus Christ.

The flag parade at the end of day is a big part of the whole racist exercise.

“The “Jerusalem Day Flag Parade” has long been an annual excuse for Jewish dominionists – those who seek to transform Israel from a democratic ethnocracy into a theocratic ethnocracy – to treat the Palestinians of Jerusalem as they generally treat Palestinians in the rest of the occupied West Bank. That is to say, as detested temporary guests whose eventual planned expulsion is openly discussed.”

“As in the past, the march ended at the Western Wall plaza – created by Israel’s ethnic cleansing of Jerusalem’s ancient Moroccan Quarterin the first days of the occupation – where Bennett and other Israeli leaders heaped praise on guest of honor, US businessman Simon Falic.”

The Falic’s family name should be spelled differently. I will never buy duty free again. Imagine using a charity as a front for Israel, I mean who would think of that? ? Netanyahoo gets most of his campaignmoney from the Falics and a couple of other families residing in the US.

So I guess it is fitting that Simon Falic is the guest of honor at the end of the most racist part of a racist day.

Coming back to the end of Friedman’s speech, we are treated with even more gems:

“So you don’t have every senior member of the administration travelling 6000 miles to a tiny state if it’s not a critical ally. The proof is incontrovertible.”

“I have been committed to the safety, security and prosperity of the State of Israel all of my adult life. President Trump was well aware of that commitment when he formally nominated me – on the day of his inauguration, the earliest possible date. He did all he could to ensure that I was the first bilateral ambassador confirmed by the Senate. And I was.”

“The PM of Israel and I both agree that we have turned a page on the relationship between Israel and the US. It is a change decidedly for the better. Please join with me in the years to come as we continue to strengthen and enhance the unbreakable bonds between these two great nations.”

2. Speaking of questionable charities – take a look at the Kars4kids scandal. It is cars for Jewish kids – they just hide it from you in their commercials. It is based in that great bastion of well – greatness, Lakewood, New Jersey.

Most of Kars4kids money goes to a sister organization called Oorah and Oorah gets most of its money from Kars4kids.

“Oorah also offers scholarships to those desiring to spend a gap year abroad in Israel.”

3. It’s video time. Boy do I have some treats for you all today. Note to Shas Party members, it’s okay if you just want to skip to the Lee Camp video at the bottom of the page.

46 seconds of John Oliver who seems to be on to the KarsforKids scandal.

Shows that they have been misleading donors for years.

Here’s a short video (under 40 seconds) by USA Today on the joys of having Friedman as Ambassador.
And here is Lee Camp (warning, he gets a bit raunchy) with a nice two minute rant. You can why he didn’t get the job in place of Friedman. But if I ever become president he will. Oh, and I have Caitlin Johnstone to thank for turning me on to Camp’s “Redacted Tonight” show on RT.

Making Al-Sham Great Again

By: Mantiq al-Tayr

Christians in Aleppo celebrating the Christmas season, 2017.

1. Just a quick Christmas post wishing a Merry Christmas to all and most especially to the Christians (and Muslims) of the Middle East whose lives have been turned into absolute hell by the true Axis of Evil, The CIA, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Al-Qa’ida, Qatar and ISIS (CIASUQQISIS).  Have I got everyone listed here? Damn, I feel like I’m leaving something out. Shit, what am I missing?  Oh, that’s right, Togo. Wow, thank Hashem I remembered that one.

Hold on a second, a little birdie just landed at my doorstep with a message.

Wow, I’m glad I got that message. I left out the Marshall Islands.

If I’ve left out anyone else, please let us know by calling the US embassy in Jerusalem.

2. Well, it looks like the Syrian Arab Army got a nice big Christmas present from Uncle Zion. (Note to Shas Party members, red highlighting is done by today’s guest editor, Sergey Lavrov.)

“The Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) Tiger Forces arrived in northern Hama this week with a big surprise from their previous operations in the Deir Ezzor Governorate. Units from the Tiger Forces were seen armed with US-manufactured weapons that were seized from the Islamic State (ISIS) during the two month long battle in Deir Ezzor.”

Among the weapons are TOW missiles! How cool is that?

And they are going to use these weapons to retake Idlib. Is this a great country or what?

I mean, only in America can you supply weapons to support various and sundry terrorist organizations in their efforts to topple a government and destroy a country’s civil society in the service of Israel and suddenly have those vary same weapons be used by the victims to take their country back from the monsters you helped create. Making Al-Sham Great Again.  MASHGA.

3. Okay, it’s video time.

Each Christmas for the past few years I’ve posted a link to the video below.  I love the story and the music. Just imagine that the change the old man passes out to others is a Tow missile. ?

Okay, that was too much. Couldn’t help myself, I blame Putin for that last comment – one of the tuyuur is obviously an agent of the Kremlin. Enjoy the video. As I wrote last yeaer, the default start frame of this video reminds me of two who are very dear.  But I digress.

Syria Solidarity Movement Statement
December 22, 2017
Both great powers, Russia and the USA, recently claimed victory over the Islamic State (aka Daesh, ISIS, ISIL) in Syria, but only one did the right thing in response.
President Putin of the Russian Federation flew to Syria to announce deep cuts to its troop and equipment commitments in Syria and to assure President Assad of Syria and the Syrian people that Russian troops would return immediately if ISIS terrorists reared their ugly heads again in his country.
Russia has been open and transparent with the whole world about its military commitments in Syria, right down to actual troop numbers and types of military aircraft. President Putin stated moreover that Russia would continue to maintain one naval and one airbase inside Syria.
How can Putin say and do these things in Syria? The answer is that Russia, like Iran, has maintained a military alliance with Syria for several decades and has, in addition, signed many political, economic, and cultural agreements with Syria. The Russian military intervention in Syria, starting on Sept 30, 2015, was at the invitation of the sovereign government in Damascus and was in compliance with international law. This was backed with proactive and constructive support for both the reconciliation and dialogue initiatives which was complemented by the Syrian government simultaneously announcing a program of reconciliation with rebels of Syrian origin, a program which saw some 20,000 Syrian rebels lay down their arms and reintegrate with their families in the main Syrian society to defend and rebuild Syria.
The US presence in Syria, on the other hand, has been in flagrant violation of international law. It’s true that the USA had the permission of the sovereign government of Iraq to fight the Islamic State in Iraq. However, it lacked such permission from the government of Syria and from the United Nations Security Council.
Like Russia, the USA recently declared victory over the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq and announced that it would continue to maintain a military presence in Syria. Unlike Russia, it has never been open and transparent with the world about either its troop commitments or its real intentions in Syria.
For example, the USA lied to the world about its covert support to the Islamic State in Syria (and Iraq). It lied about its Coalition’s alleged purpose to degrade and destroy ISIS. In fact, until the Russian military offensive in Syria in 2015, the US Coalition never even bothered to bomb the convoys of tanker trucks smuggling Syrian oil to Turkey, or the convoys of transport trucks carrying supplies from Turkey to ISIS-held cities in Syria and Iraq, or the convoys of ISIS fighters that travelled across hundreds of kilometres of open desert in broad daylight to capture and destroy the Syrian world heritage site of Palmyra. Rather, Coalition planes attacked Syrian Arab Army (SAA) positions on several occasions, on behalf of ISIS, at Deir Ezzor, Al Tanf, and other locations. Most recently, the USA oversaw the rescue of thousands of the Islamic State’s last remaining fighters from Raqqah and brought the terrorists in a convoy with their heavy equipment to Coalition-held territory in the northeast corner of Syria, east of the Euphrates River. That triangular corner of Syria contains some Kurdish and Arab tribes, about half of Syria’s petrochemical resources, and a large swath of good agricultural land.
Today, we know, through a slip of the tongue on the part of US Major-General Jarrard, that the USA now has 4000 soldiers in Syria, though officially it claims only 500.1 Thanks to the Turkish government, which supplied their GPS locations, we have also learned that the USA has built ten military bases in that corner of the country, all of which are illegal since they were not approved by the government of Syria. In fact, the continuing US presence in Syria constitutes an illegal occupation. Nevertheless, US military and political leaders, such as Secretary of State Tillerson, have indicated that they intend to stay indefinitely inside Syria.
Why? Because a continuing US military presence in Syria allows the USA to pressure the Syrian government regarding the terms of the inevitable political settlement of the Syrian conflict. From its vantage point in NE Syria, the USA could continue militarily to threaten Damascus – not TO mention other nearby states such as Lebanon, Iraq, Turkey, and Iran – and to make life miserable for Syrians, such as by supporting roving bands of ISIS terrorists or ISIS missile attacks on Syrian communities.
However, a number of military analysts have observed that the US occupation of the NE corner of Syria is not viable. That chunk of sovereign Syrian territory is surrounded on all three sides by potentially hostile forces: Turkish, Iraqi, and Syrian. All of the Kurdish and Arab tribes who live in this triangle have abandoned any allegiance they may once have had to the US Coalition and its so-called Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). So, the only allies the USA has on the ground in that part of Syria are those (rescued) ISIS terrorist mercenaries who have nominally switched allegiances. Hardly a solid military position…
The Syria Solidarity Movement® maintains that the USA does NOT hold exceptional status regarding international law. We regard the US occupation of any part of Syria as a war crime and we call upon the USA and its Coalition partners to get out of Syria now. In addition, we demand the following:
  • the USA forces withdraw from Syria and disband its Coalition allegedly to degrade and destroy ISIS;
  • the USA end its unilateral (and therefore) illegal economic sanctions against Syria;
  • the USA disband the so-called Friends of Syria Group of countries (FSG) which organized the proxy war against Syria;
  • the USA and its coalition and FSG partners restore diplomatic relations with Syria and come to the UN peace process, without any preconditions, to bring a speedy end to the Syrian conflict.

Nazi Settler Colonial State – Colonisation did not stop in 1948

Why Israel is a Settler Colonial State – Colonisation did not stop in 1948

Despite its pretence that it is a Western democracy, Israel is the only active settler-colonial state in the world. It’s not just that it has Administrative Detention (in Ireland this was known as Internment) i.e. indefinite imprisonment without trial, a permanent state of emergency, censorship and a system of segregated schools, employment and residential living areas, which replicate many of the features of Apartheid society.

Zionism from its inception was clear that it didn’t want to share Palestine with its original inhabitants.  It intended eventually to transfer most if not all of them in order that it could form a Jewish majority state.  In the meantime it intended, behind the protection of British bayonets, to evict the Palestinians from the economy and create an apartheid Jewish economy.

Between 1904 and 1948 Zionist Organisations such as Keren Hayesod and the Jewish National Fund bought up land, primarily from absentee landlords and then evicted the peasants who had been working the land.  In this it was unique because it didn’t reemploy that labour on the land as landless labour but sought to exclude it altogether.

The situation was best summed up in the 1930 Hope Simpson Report, which the British Government commissioned.  It describe the leases issued by the JNF:

” . . . . The lessee undertakes to execute all works connected with the cultivation of the holding only with Jewish labour. Failure to comply with this duty by the employment of non-Jewish labour shall render the lessee liable to the payment of a compensation of ten Palestinian pounds for each default. … Where the lessee has contravened the provisions of this Article three times the Fund may apply the right of restitution of the holding, without paying any compensation whatever.”

The lease also provides that the holding shall never be held by any but a Jew. If the holder, being a Jew, dies, leaving as his heir a non-Jew, the Fund shall obtain the right of restitution. .

Keren-Hayesod Agreements: Employment of labour.—In the agreement for the repayment of advances made by the Keren-Hayesod (Palestine Foundation Fund) to settlers in the colonies in the Maritime Plain the following provisions are included :—

” Article 7.—The settler hereby undertakes that he will during the continuance of any of the said advances, reside upon the said agricultural holding and do all his farm work by himself or with the aid of his family, and that, if and whenever he may be obliged to hire help, he will hire Jewish workmen only.”…

In the similar agreement for the Emek colonies there is a provision as follows : —

” Article 11.—The settler undertakes to work the said holding personally, or with the aid of his family, and not to hire any outside labour except Jewish labourers.”

Zionist policy in regard to Arabs in their colonies.—…. Attempts are constantly being made to establish the advantage which Jewish settlement has brought to the Arab. The most lofty sentiments are ventilated at public meetings and in Zionist propaganda. At the time of the Zionist Congress in 1921 a resolution was passed which “solemnly declared the desire of the Jewish people to live with the Arab people in relations of friendship and mutual respect, and, together with the Arab people, to develop the homeland common to both into a prosperous community which would ensure the growth of the peoples.” This resolution is frequently quoted in proof of the excellent sentiments which Zionism cherishes towards the people of Palestine. The provisions quoted above, which are included in legal documents binding on every settler in a Zionist colony, are not compatible with the sentiments publicly expressed.  (my emphasis)

… The effect of the Zionist colonisation policy on The Arab.— Actually the result of the purchase of land in Palestine by the Jewish National Fund has been that land has been extra-territorialised. It ceases to be land from which the Arab can gain any advantage either now or at any time in the future. Not only can he never hope to lease or to cultivate it, but, by the stringent provisions of the lease of the Jewish National Fund, he is deprived for ever from employment on that land. Nor can anyone help him by purchasing the land and restoring it to common use. The land is in mortmain and inalienable. It is for this reason that Arabs discount the professions of friendship and good will on the part of the Zionists in view of the policy which the Zionist Organisation deliberately adopted.

Umm al-Hiran – a Bedouin village in the Negev demolished to make way for the Jewish town of Hiran

To this day the policy of all Israeli governments has been to deprive the Palestinians of any right to the land.  From 1948 onwards a series of land regulations and ordinances were passed, culminating in the 1950 Absentee Property Law which declared that Arabs who had stayed in Israel during the Nakba in 1948, even if they had taken shelter from the fighting a mile away from their home, were rendered landless.  The concept of a Present-Absentee was created.  You could be present and yet absent .

A series of laws were passed from 1948 onwards with the sole intention of depriving of their right to land even the 15% of the Palestinians who weren’t expelled.  See Israeli land and property laws.  Some 93% of Israeli land is state land, managed either directly or indirectly by the Israeli Land Authority and JNF.  This is the basis of Israeli apartheid and the demolitions and dispossessions in the article below are a consequence of this policy, which is to reserve ‘national’ i.e. Jewish national land for Jews only.  Laws such as the Reception Committees Law allow hundreds of Jewish only communities to retain their Jewish only status (as well as to exclude Black Ethiopian Jews ).

It is this underlying Zionist policy which results in half Israel’s Arab villages being ‘unrecognised’ and the continual demolition of such villages such as Al Arakabh in order that Jewish settlements can be established in their place.  It is important to understand that this takes place in Israel proper not the Occupied Territories.

The reference below to ‘Absentee Property’ means land from which its original Arab inhabitants has been expelled.  In the Orwelllian terminology of the Zionists they are ‘absentees’, having gone missing

Home demolitions in the Negev and Tel Aviv show the real face of government corruption

Corruption does not begin with Netanyahu’s cigars or pink champagne. It begins with an ideological system that sees entire segments of the population as undesirable and unnecessary, and as temporary residents in their own homes.

A Bedouin woman after authorities demolished her village of Al Araqib, January 16, 2011 (Keren Manor/

Last night, a striking episode in Amnon Levy’s documentary series, “The Real Faces,” aired on TV. The episode followed the residents of the Tel Kabir, Givat Amal, and HaArgazim neighborhoods, whom the government has designated as trespassers in their own homes. The government is now trying to evict them, to the benefit of real estate tycoons.

Yesterday, a court in Be’er Sheva convicted Sheikh Siakh A-Turi, 68, of trespassing, sentencing him to ten months in prison with a fine of 36,000 shekels. Sheikh Siakh, is a resident of the Bedouin village of Al-Araqib.

Caduri Halif stands among the rubble of his demolished house, Givat Amal neighborhood, Tel Aviv, September 18, 2014. A third eviction of families in the neighborhood left 20 residents homeless and without proper compensation or an alternative housing solution. (Activestills)

The residents of Givat Amal and Al-Araqib share the same tragic fate: they are among the most marginalized people in a country whose government has declared them trespassers on land on which they have lived for decades. In both instances, the government prevented them from formalizing their property ownership by a range of deceptive means. The government, in contrast, moved quickly to formalize and recognize the ownership of those citizens whom it actually values, in some cases spitting distance from where these “trespassers” live.

To truly believe these stories, you must hear them again and again. The Mizrahi residents of these Tel Aviv neighborhoods could not formalize their ownership of the land on which they have lived for 70 years because they “missed” a small announcement in the Davar newspaper in 1951, inviting “any person who de facto owns, without a deed, an apartment or business on absentee property” to submit a request to formalize their ownership. Like their Ashkenazi neighbors—Mapai supporters and employees of the Tel Aviv municipality and the Custodian for Absentee Property—they, too, settled on property that belonged to Palestinians before 1948.

However, unlike their Ashkenazi neighbors, the Mizrahi residents had no way of hearing about an announcement published once in the Mapai party newspaper, and which allowed for a short window of two weeks to formalize property ownership. Those who read the announcement got recognized as legal landowners. Those who didn’t, didn’t; they continued to live in their houses without knowing that eventually, when their land had become desirable real estate, they could be declared “trespassers” in their own homes.

At the same time as the Israeli government was defrauding the residents of Tel Aviv’s Mizrahi neighborhoods, it was expropriating vast tracts of land in the Negev—permitted under a 1953 law to allow the government to easily seize land to promote “development, settlement, and security.” Residents of Al-Araqib were expelled by the government from their land, despite the fact that the land has since gone untouched; the government expropriated the land seemingly for no reason.

When Al-Araqib residents attempted to appeal the expropriation in court, the government refused even to hold a hearing. As Michal Rotem writes, “according to the state and its representatives, not only do the native inhabitants of the Negev lack ownership of the land, they lack even have the right to pursue their claim in court.”

Over the years, the residents of Al-Araqib have attempted to maintain their connection to the land, working their crops, watching their flocks, and burying their dead there. While lone farms — for Jews only — continue to proliferate in the region, since 2010, the government has destroyed the village of Al-Araqib 120 times.

Police stand guard as bulldozers demolish Umm al Hiran

Sheikh Siakh, a man nearing his 70s, will be imprisoned because he dared to resist this injustice. Perhaps it should comfort him that he was not shot to death by police, like Yaqub Musa Abu Al-Qian, killed in Umm Al-Hiran — a man whose only crime was attempting to get away from his village before it was destroyed so that a Jews-only town, Hiran, could be built in its place.

For months, thousands of people have joined the weekly protests against government corruption in Petah Tikvah and now Tel Aviv. But government corruption does not begin with Netanyahu’s graft investigations, nor with his cigars and rosé champagne.

Government corruption begins with an ideological system that works to demographically design the country’s territory according to the criteria of ethnic and national origin. Government corruption begins with a way of seeing entire segments of the population as unnecessary and undesirable, as temporary residents in their own homes. Government corruption begins with the criminal violence of calling people trespassers in their own houses. If we want to fight this deep moral corruption, the place to look is not Rothschild Boulevard or the Attorney General’s house, but the line that that connects Givat Amal to Al-Araqib.

Torture couldn’t happen to a Jewish child – 16 year old Ahed Tamimi’s Detention is Extended by Nazi Military Court

Torture couldn’t happen to a Jewish child – 16 year old Ahed Tamimi’s Detention is Extended by Israel’s Military Court
Labour’s Zionist Apologists EllmanNewmark and Ryan keep silent as the ‘only democracy in the Middle East’ incarcerates children
A posse of heavily built soldiers – all for one slightly built 16 year old girl

Ahed Tamimi appeared in an Israeli military court on Xmas day, after 4 days inside without seeing a parent or a lawyer.  She appeared in handcuffs.  This slightly built child is in the warped fantasy of the settler regime perceived as a danger to Israel’s military might.

Israel’s military courts have a 99.7% conviction rate, higher one suspects than the Labour Party’s National Kangaroo Court!

Ahed Tamimi’s ‘crime’ was to slap and mildly chastise armed Israeli soldiers who invaded the grounds of her house, after a cousin of hers Mohammed Tamimi 15 was shot in the head with a plastic bullet at close range.

Israel’s racist media ignored the fact that her cousin had nearly been killed and focused on the insult to national pride occasioned by Ahed’s slaps and the soldiers failure to strike back.

Miri Regev, Israel’s ‘Culture’ Minister, who previously compared African refugees in Israel to ‘cancer’ and then apologised to cancer victims for comparing refugees to them, spoke of her ‘humiliation’ and suggested they should have opened fire.

Naftali Bennet, the Education Minister went further and stated that she should end her life in prison Of course from his perspective it is logical.  A non-Jew striking a Jewish Israeli soldier is a heinous offence whereas shooting a Palestinian child in the head is just one of those things.  After all Bennet is on record as boasting ‘I’ve killed many Arabs in my life, and there’s no problem with that.’

Ben Caspit, a senior journalist on Maariv, Israel’s major evening newspaper, makes what amounts to a call for Ahed to be raped.

Ahed, a 16 year old girl who, in the West would be thinking of exams, the latest boy (or girl) friend, going to concerts and doing all the things that teenagers of her age do, has to cope with the presence of soldiers and an army in her village, walking into her house, shooting her relatives and acting with impunity.

Ahed in the court case today came in looking tired and strained.  Her lawyer managed to snatch only a few words with her, such is the nature of Israeli justice, before she was whisked away again. Clearly she is being put under immense pressure to confess without the benefit of a lawyer or relatives.  It is reported that she has been physically assaulted and almost certainly deprived of sleep.  This amounts to torture.  Yet where is the pressure from Theresa May or indeed Jeremy Corbyn?  Why have just 12 MPs, 5 of whom are Labour, signed an Early Day Motion condemning Ahed’s incarceration?

Shackling and handcuffing a child is in itself a war crime.  Transferring her out of the West Bank is yet another breach of international law but Israel is allowed to break the law with impunity.

Israel Extends 16-year-old Palestinian Girl’s Detention Because She Could ‘Pose a Danger’

Ha’aretz, Yotam Berger Dec 25, 2017

Ahed Tamimi, who was recently filmed slapping Israeli soldiers, gets four more days as judges say she might obstruct investigation, with one saying she could endanger soldiers

Ahed Tamimi, the 16-year-old Palestinian girl who was recently filmed slapping Israeli soldiers in her village, Nabi Saleh, had her detention extended on Monday for four additional days, through Thursday.

Her cousin, Nour Tamimi, the second girl who appeared in the clip, and Ahed’s mother, Nariman, also had their detention extended. Nariman is suspected of incitement by filming the incident and posting it on Facebook.

According to police, the investigation of the incident in Nabi Saleh has developed and Ahed and Nariman are suspected of being involved in additional incidents of attacking IDF soldiers.

Police said the extension of their detention was necessary due to the danger Ahed poses, and to prevent obstruction of the investigations.

A judge in the military court of Judea, Major Chaim Bililti, wrote in his decision that while he was not sure her release would pose a danger, there was a chance she would try to obstruct the investigation, and so he was extending her detention. He added that the investigation has led to developments that Nariman Tamimi is connected to other offenses, and is suspected of other charges not yet presented to her.

The court postponed the appeals regarding the extension of Ahed Tamimi’s custody, and during the deliberations police brought up additional suspicions against her. According to the president of the court, Col. Netanel Benisho, “The evidence consolidated a framework regarding three other incidents that took place in May 2017 and in April 2016.”

Judge Benisho accepted police claims that Ahed Tamimi presents a danger, and that she could impede soldiers in their work.

Last week, Judge Maj. Limor Drachman of the Minor’s Court in Judea extended Ahed’s detention to Monday, on suspicion that she would try to injure IDF soldiers.

Video: Resistance icon Ahed Tamimi in Israeli military court

Israeli military court

Ali Abunimah 24 December 2017

This video shows Ahed Tamimi in an Israeli military court on Sunday.

The 16-year-old appears to be in handcuffs as she is led in by Israeli officers. As a lawyer talks to Ahed, a woman, likely the person filming the video, can be heard asking her how she is doing.
Ahed looks at the camera and nods and smiles in answer, indicating she is doing fine.

The video was shared on the Facebook page Free the Tamimi women.”

Ahed Tamimi has become an international focus of solidarity since Israeli occupation forces seized her from her home in the West Bank village of Nabi Saleh during a night raid last week.

Boy shot

That followed an incident the previous Friday, when Israeli occupation forces shot and gravely wounded her cousin 14-year-old Muhammad Fadel Tamimi.

Ahed and two women from the family – her mother Nariman and cousin Nour – then attempted to remove Israeli soldiers from the family’s property. Ahed was seen in a video lightly slapping and shoving one of the armed men.

Bassem Tamimi, Ahed’s father, explains in an article for Newsweek that less than half an hour before this incident, “a soldier shot Ahed’s 14-year-old cousin in the face at close distance with a rubber-coated steel bullet, causing severe injuries and leaving him in a coma. Then, two soldiers had jumped the wall of our backyard and forced their way on to our property when Ahed confronted them in an effort to make them leave.”

“Israel’s military occupation is in contrast to all that is just and humane, from the abuse of our children to the abuse of our land,” Bassem adds. “As parents, we try to shelter our children against the occupation and all its violence, inequality and lack of freedom, but there is only so much we can do to protect them.”

According to Naji Tamimi, Nour’s father and one of Muhammad’s uncles, Muhammad barely survived his injury.

But he is now recovering after a complex hours-long surgery and will require long-term care and rehabilitation. A photo posted by Naji Tamimi on Facebook shows the extent of the injuries to Muhammad’s face and head.

Nariman and Nour were also arrested as part of a revenge campaign instigated by Israeli political and military leaders bent on expunging the humiliation of heavily armed men being confronted by women from a family known for its sacrifices as part of Nabi Saleh’s ongoing resistance to military occupation and settler-colonization.

Damage control

According to family sources, Ahed’s lawyer requested the hearing on Sunday in an attempt to get the teenager released.

Ahed was held in the notorious Russian Compound interrogation center in Jerusalem overnight and was previously in Ramleh prison.

The Free the Tamimi women Facebook page stated that Ahed “spent the night alone in a cold cell” after enduring several transfers between Israeli prisons.

According to her father Bassem Tamimi, Ahed, Nariman and Nour had previously been held in HaSharon prison.

Arbitrary transfers between prisons under harsh conditions are another way Israel abuses detainees.
Ahed Tamimi is one of hundreds of Palestinian children who each year are subjected to night raids and Israeli military detention each year, where many suffer abuse including torture and solitary confinement.

Concern over this systematic violence against Palestinian children prompted US lawmakers last month to introduce a historic bill to prevent US military aid to Israel being diverted to such practices.

Revenge in the dark

The Israeli army’s attack on the Tamimi family was meant to appease its virulently right-wing and anti-Palestinian domestic audience, but it has become an international embarrassment, prompting The New York Times to go into damage control mode to mitigate further harm to Israel’s tattered reputation.

Writing at Mondoweiss, James North notes that the Times’ coverage “does everything it can to reduce the power of the case” and “make the Israeli soldier look like the victim.”
Ben Caspit, a journalist with Israel’s Maariv newspaper and the online publication Al-Monitorcaused shock Saturday when he was quoted by the Associated Press stating in reference to the Tamimi family, “In the case of the girls, we should exact a price at some other opportunity, in the dark, without witnesses and cameras.”

This was widely interpreted as incitement to violence including possible sexual assault, though Caspit has vehemently denied this.

Caspit claims that comments he made in a radio commentary were taken out of context and mistranslated.

But as Jonathan Ofir points out, also at Mondoweiss, Caspit had also made the statement in his Maariv column.

After calling for revenge in the dark with no witnesses present, Caspit writes that the “Tamimi family needs to learn the hard way that such systematic provocations against Israeli soldiers will cost them dearly.”

He added that the Israeli army has the “capabilities, creativity and means” to do this “without paying an exorbitant public price.”

Ahed, Nariman and Nour are due to appear in military court again on Monday.

The New York Times tries to make the Ahed Tamimi story go away

James North December 23, 2017

The New York Times ran a piece today on the very different ways that Israelis and Palestinians see the slapping incident involving 16-year-old Ahed Tamimi and an Israeli soldier. It is titled, “Acts of Resistance and Restraint Defy Easy Definition in the West Bank,” and is by David Halbfinger.

The article does everything it can to reduce the power of the case, in which a brave 16-year-old girl whose cousin was just shot stands for the inhumanity of the occupation. No, the whole point of the article is to make Israel supporters who may have heard about the incident shake their heads over Dual Narratives, and then move along.

Here is the Times‘s model for the whitewash:

  1. Make sure the print edition does not include a single one of the striking, now-viral photos of Ahed Tamimi’s brave resistance.
  1. State nowhere that Israelis are occupiers, and settlements (colonies) are illegal under international law.
  1. Slyly slip in the following paragraph: “That her family appears to encourage the children’s risky confrontations with soldiers offends some Palestinians and enrages many Israelis.”
  1. Barely mention the fact that the illegal settlement/colony of Halamish has taken over the village of Nabi Saleh’s access to its spring, and make no effort to report on who is right. Instead treat the matter as On the One Hand/On the Other.
  1. In the first sentence, make the Israeli soldier look like the victim:“A teenage girl, a kaffiyeh over her denim jacket, screaming in Arabic, repeatedly punches, slaps and kicks a heavily armed Israeli army officer, who faces her impassively, absorbing some blows, evading others, but never hitting back.”(Make sure you stick in the kaffiyeh and the “screaming in Arabic:” perfect Orientalist gems.)
  1. Have settler Yossi Klein Halevi drive home the point, that the Israeli is the victim: “My first reaction was I was proud of the soldiers, but I was also ambivalent: Is this going to invite more attacks, and more serious ones?”
  1. Add another obnoxious paragraph: “.  .  .the scene of the young woman being hauled away may have given the Palestinians the clear-cut propaganda coup they had been denied by the original confrontation.”
  1. Leave till the 13th paragraph the information that hours before the encounter an Israeli soldier shot Ahed Tamimi’s cousin in the face. Leave out the cousin’s name, Mohammed, and the extent of his injuries. No, you have to go to al Jazeera for that.
Mohammed Tamimi, who is 14 or 15, following a six hour operation after being shot in the face. Photo from Al Jazeera.
  1. Quote 6 Jewish Israelis, and only 4 Palestinians. But above all, don’t quote any member of the courageous Tamimi family, even though they were featured in Ben Ehrenreich’s landmarkNew York Times magazine piece on Nabi SalehAnd even though the slapping incident took place when the soldier had invaded their property.

P.S. Louis Allday, a PhD candidate at London University’s School of Oriental and African Studies, who is digitizing colonial records, agrees:

[A correction: The original post said, “(Most people still engage with the Times on paper).” In fact, the Times has 2.5 million digital subscribers vs. 1 million print subscribers.]

Make 2018 A Year Of People’s Unity and Resistance Against Fascism!

The year 2017 will be remembered for some of the worst attacks on Muslim and Christian minorities, on Dalits, on critics of the Modi regime, and on the secular, democratic character of India’s Constitution and polity.

Christmas this year has been heralded by a spree of attacks by Sangh mobs on Christians. Carol singers were attacked 10 days before Christmas, and their car burnt inside the premises of a police station in Madhya Pradesh. In what has become a predictable pattern, the police did not arrest the assailants, and instead booked the carol singers for “forcible conversions”. Carol singers were also attacked with a knife in Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh, days after the Hindu Jagran Manch, a Sangh outfit, sent letters to Christian schools in Aligarh warning them against celebrating Christmas, claiming this would “lure Hindu students towards Christianity”. In Mathura in UP, Christians praying inside a home were arrested on charges of “forcible conversion.” An study tracking attacks on Christians globally found that in India in the first six months of 2017, as many attacks on Christians took place as had taken place in the whole of 2016.

Just as activists raising issues of atrocities against Dalits were accused by the BJP of “casteism” in the Gujarat elections, it is the religious minorities – not their attackers – who are accused of being “communal” by the BJP leadership. Sending a subtle message of approval for such attacks on Christians, the President of India Ram Nath Kovind refused to continue the tradition of hearing carol singers on Christmas Eve. His excuse was that to do so would be improper since India is a “secular state”. Ironically, even as the President of India invoked “secularism” as a pretext to shun Christmas celebrations, his party colleague, Union Minister Anant Hegde made in a speech in poll-bound Karnataka, warning that those who identified as “secular” rather than by their religion or caste, would face “trouble” since the BJP was “here to change the Constitution”.

December 2017 will also be seared in public memory for the horrible video-graphed murder of Afrazul in Rajasthan. It is clear by now that the killer Shambhulal, fed on a non-stop diet of Sanghi hate-videos, killed Afrazul because he wanted to figure in a similar video and become a “hero” for the fascist hate groups. Not only did those groups make the video go viral; they were allowed by police to defy prohibitory orders and hold a violent demonstration in support of the killer, even hoisting the saffron ‘Hindu nation’ flag atop the Udaipur court house. While these fascist goons were released on bail after a belated, token arrest, Muslims who protested the killing were arrested and denied bail, as Left groups were even denied permission to hold a Peace March!

Afrazul’s killing was one among a string of attacks on Muslims in BJP-ruled Rajasthan – many of whom were killed by lynch mobs in the name of ‘cow protection.’ As we approach the New Year, BJP’s Rajasthan MLA Gyan Dev Ahuja has openly defended such killings and warned of more, saying, “If you smuggle or kill cows you will of course be killed.” Meanwhile, the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has stopped the salaries of 298 madrasa staff, claiming the madarsas failed to submit requisite documentation. Also in December 2017, a Telangana BJP MLA called upon Hindus to take up swords to “wipe out” anyone who came between them and the goal of a Hindu Nation.

In Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, a BJP leader led an attack on a wedding, declaring that it was a case of “love jehad” since the Muslim groom and the Hindu bride had not secured “permission” from the BJP for the wedding! 2017 will also be infamously remembered for the failure of India’s courts to uphold the autonomy of women and their choice instead to legitimize the poisonous patriarchal and Islamophobic myth of “love jehad”.

2017 will also be remembered for the assassination of journalist and activist Gauri Lankesh, and the manner in which Sanghi cadres celebrated her killing, for the killing of Junaid – and for the countrywide citizens’ protests these soul-searing events generated.

The year 2017 ended with a silver lining, however – with the voters of Gujarat putting up a remarkable fight against communal polarization and highlighting the issues of unemployment and agrarian crisis. If the year 2017 was a year of firings on peasants, it was also a year of peasants and workers asserting unity against divisive violence, fighting back, and putting their issues back on political centre stage. If Dalits were attacked in Saharanpur by BJP-backed mobs for refusing to become footsoldiers of communal violence against Muslims, 2017 also saw the emergence of the Bhim Army as an inspiring movement of Dalit youth. The arrests of peasant leader Akhil Gogoi and Bhim Army leader Chandrashekhar Azad Raavan under draconian laws, and the arrest of employees’ union leaders in Patna when they had been invited for talks with the Government on health workers’ issues, and repeated attempts to use assassinations and defamation laws to chill investigative journalism that question the Government: all point to an attack on democracy that even exceeds the shameful legacy of the Emergency.

2017 has also called the bluff of the Modi Government’s tall claims of ending corruption. The acquittal of all the accused in the 2G scam is squarely due to the calculated apathy of the CBI “caged parrot” even under the Modi regime, which helped to protect the likes of Anil Ambani. The manner in which Jagannath Mishra (now in the BJP embrace) has been acquitted in the Fodder Scam while Opposition leader Laloo Yadav was convicted, also reeks of the manner in which investigative agencies and corruption cases are selectively deployed as political weapons by the BJP Government. Meanwhile, grave corruption and conflict of interest charges involving Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah and Ajit Doval’s son Shaurya Doval, as well as the suspicious death of Justice Loya in a manner that was highly convenient for Amit Shah in the custodial killing cases he faced, are not deemed to merit any investigation.

With every passing day, the Modi regime’s claims of fighting corruption are being exposed even further. Modi had claimed last year that demonetization would clean the economy of black money since black money tended to be stored in big (Rs 500 and Rs 1000) notes. A year later, in December 2017, it is apparent that this claim is bogus. Big denomination notes now constitute no less than 93 per cent of the total currency in circulation: higher than the pre-Note-Ban levels of 86.4 per cent. In fact, it is the first time that high-denomination notes have crossed the 90 per cent mark in 15 years!

Anti-fascist fighters in India are entering 2018 filled with a new sense of determination and confidence. It is apparent that in spite of captive media houses serving as his personal propaganda machinery, and the unrelenting campaign of communal hate and violence, Modi’s stature stands eroded and he is facing resistance from almost every section of India’s people. Let’s make the coming year one of intensified unity and resistance against the fascists!
