Leaked Memo Shows the U.S. Still Does Not Understand Turkey’s Syria Operation

By Paul Antonopoulos,

An ‘internal memo’ that was intentionally leaked has blasted U.S.President Donald Trump’s decision for the U.S. military to withdraw from Syria, or more accurately, relocate from northern Syria to the oilfields in the east, as well as his complacency as Turkey commits “war crimes and ethnic cleansing” against the Kurdish minority.

Trump’s New Policy on Israeli Settlements Is Illegal and Self-Serving

By Prof. Marjorie Cohn,

Thumbing his nose at the Geneva Convention, the Rome Statute, the UN Security Council, the UN General Assembly and the International Court of Justice, Donald Trump decided that Israel’s unlawful construction of Jewish settlements in occupied Palestinian territory is lawful. This policy change is part of Trump’s pattern of seeking to legalize illegal Israeli practices. It panders to Israel at the expense of the Palestinians while aiming to burnish Trump’s bona fides with his Christian Zionist base. Christian Broadcasting Network quoted Jack Graham, pastor of the megachurch Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas, as saying that the Trump administration “once again has demonstrated why evangelical Christians have been unwavering in their support.”

The Schiff Committee Finds No Impeachable Offense against Donald Trump

By Renee Parsons,

After several days of unremarkable testimony by assorted State Department functionaries the Democrats continue to struggle with ferreting out a legally defensible impeachable offense to warrant the three ring circus currently being conducted by Rep. Adam Schiff, Chair of the House Intel Committee.

On a railroad through the Intel Committee, the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump’s alleged attempt at a Quid Pro Quo (QPQ), Dems are no closer to a sure-fire ‘we got him now’ piece of evidence than when the inquiry began as they shift gears to widen the probe into  “bribery’ and/or ‘extortion,’ whichever shoe fits.

China-Bolivia – A Lithium Deal, No More?

By Peter Koenig,

China has by far the largest lithium market. China produces already today the most electric cars, about 1 million in 2018, and will at least triplicate their production by 2025 – and in the following decade or two, demand is expected to increase exponentially.

Bolivia has the world’s largest – by far – known lithium reserves. A long-term win-win contract between China and Bolivia was under preparation since early 2019 and being negotiated as a 51% Bolivia – 49% China share-arrangement, with manufacturing of batteries and other lithium-related products foreseen in Bolivia – added value, job creation in Bolivia – with an initial investment of US$ 2.3 billion – was about to be signed, when the US-instigated Bolivian military coup occurred. It was immediately followed with the usual US-style intimidating, violent and murderous oppression, particularly directed at protests by indigenous people.

Chicago Teachers Union Ratifies Contract in the Aftermath of 11 Day Strike

By Abayomi Azikiwe,

The strike also was joined by members of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) which reached a tentative agreement prior to the teachers. A division of SEIU represents thousands of security guards and teachers’ assistants in Chicago Public Schools system.

An October 30 tentative agreement between the CTU and the city administration was agreed upon by the executive board ending the strike paving the way for a return to classes for 350,000 students on November 1. The deal created the conditions for schools to open fully staffed since the SEIU said it would not return to work until the city administration reached an agreement with the CTU.

Impeach the Government: Rogue Agencies Have Been Abusing Their Powers for Decades

By John W. Whitehead,

To allow the President or any rogue government agency or individual to disregard the rule of law whenever, wherever and however it chooses and operate “above the law” is exactly how a nation of sheep gives rise to a government of wolves.

To be clear: this is not about Donald Trump. Or at least it shouldn’t be just about Trump.

Video: The Madness of Putting 53,000 5G Satellites in Space

By Claire Edwards,

Elon Musk has now applied to the Federal Communications Commission for permission to launch a further 30,000 satellites into Earth orbit, bringing the current total to 53,000 (October 2019). With the issues of space debris and weaponization being the two major issues of concern at the UN year after year, this is a mad enterprise, especially when NATO intends to declare space a domain of warfare in December 2019.

We stand at the brink of extinction if we do not stop the madness.

Nazi Gestapo isolates the prisoner Nael Barghouti

Illegally occupied RAMALLAH, West Bank:  Palestinian prisoner Nael Barghouti, 62, was sacked in the cells of Beersheba prison on Monday, threatening to transfer him to another prison.

The Prisoners Club said in a statement on Monday that the Nazi prison administration cited statements about the prisoner Barghouti on the occasion of his 40 years in captivity, and against this background his isolation.

The prisoner club considered that this step is a retaliatory process carried out by the prison administration against the prisoner Barghouti.

Born in the village of Cooper on October 23, 1957, Barghouti was first arrested in 1978, at the age of 19, and sentenced to life imprisonment and 18 years.

Barghouti spent the longest period of detention in captivity, where he spent (34 years), continuously, and was freed in the deal “Wafaa free” in 2011.

He was re-arrested by the occupation in 2014 along with dozens of editors, and the Nazi occupation courts reinstated his previous sentence and his life sentence and 18 years.

For the 40th anniversary of his arrest, a number of families of prisoners, editors and activists organized a stand in the center of Ramallah yesterday in support of Barghouti, demanding more attention to his case and the issue of prisoners, and work to free them by all means, and not leave them prey to the occupation.

His brother Omar al-Barghouthi said during the pause that: “Our authority, our organizations and our society suffer from a defect over the arrival of prisoners in prisons for this period of time without a horizon or a way to liberate them.” .

He called on the people, bodies and institutions to take real and permanent serious stands to defend the prisoners and activate their cause constantly, calling for enacting laws that protect the rights of prisoners and liberators.

The Impeachment Crisis and American Imperialism

By Patrick Martin

Wednesday’s public hearing on the impeachment of President Trump featured the US ambassador to the European Union, Gordon Sondland, who testified that, contrary to the White House narrative, there had been a “quid pro quo” in Trump’s dealings with Ukraine.

Trump, Sondland said, offered military aid and an invitation to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to visit the White House in return for an announcement by Zelensky of an investigation into the activities of the Democratic National Committee in Ukraine in 2016 and the role of Hunter Biden. Biden was paid $50,000 a month by a large Ukrainian gas company while his father, then the vice president, was point man for Ukrainian policy in the Obama administration.

Sondland’s appearance was trumpeted by the Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee and most of the media as a “smoking gun” against Trump. Sondland was even compared to John Dean, the White House counsel whose testimony against Richard Nixon in the Watergate scandal paved the way to Nixon’s resignation to avoid certain impeachment.

The testimony of John Dean, however, was part of the uncovering of a major attack on the democratic rights of the American people. The break-in at the Democratic National Committee offices in the Watergate complex, carried out by ex-CIA agents working for Nixon, was the outcome of a protracted campaign of political spying and repression directed against Vietnam War protesters, the former military official Daniel Ellsberg, who leaked the Pentagon Papers, and other political opponents.

There are no such issues of democratic rights in the conflict between Trump and the Democrats, who are acting as the political front men for the CIA and other sections of the national security apparatus. The significance of Sondland’s testimony lies not in what he revealed about Trump, but in his account of the everyday relationship between American imperialism and Ukraine, a small, dependent nation that has been turned into a vassal state by successive administrations in Washington.

The president of Ukraine is told by American diplomats exactly what words he must use and what promises he must make to appease his overlord in Washington. When President Zelensky offers to have his chief prosecutor make a statement along the lines demanded by Trump, he is told that he himself must make the statement, and it must be televised so that he is on the record. He is told to jump, and exactly how high.

In that respect, there is no difference whatsoever between Trump’s conduct in 2019 and the actions of his Democratic nemesis, Vice President Biden, in 2016. Biden traveled to Ukraine and told its government that Washington was withholding $1 billion in promised aid until certain actions were taken, including the firing of a corrupt national prosecutor. Biden even boasted in a US television interview that within six hours of his delivering that ultimatum the Ukrainian president had sacked the official.Annals of Impeachment: From Nixon’s “Smoking Gun” Tape to Trump Zelensky Summary

Apologists for the Democrats and Biden will insist that Biden was carrying out official US government policy, in the interests of US “national security,” whereas Trump was looking out for his personal interests, seeking dirt on a potential election rival. This argument is questionable even on its own terms, since the prosecutor whose firing Biden demanded had control over the corruption investigation into the gas company Burisma, which was lavishly paying Biden’s son.

But there is a more fundamental issue: What was the “national security” interest that Biden was upholding? Why is the United States supplying vast quantities of military aid and weaponry to Ukraine? It is part of the effort by American imperialism, carried out over two decades, to turn Ukraine into an American puppet state directed against Russia.

For all the claims by the Democrats that they are shocked by Trump seeking “foreign interference” in the 2020 presidential election, every presidential election in Ukraine since 2004 has been characterized by massive foreign interference, particularly by the United States. One US official boasted in 2013 that Washington had expended more than $5 billion on its operations to install a pliable anti-Russian regime in Kiev.

Detaching Ukraine from Russia has been a key US foreign policy objective since the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991. Ukraine and Russia were the two largest components of the USSR. They share a land border of more than 2,000 kilometers and economies that were once closely integrated. Thirty percent of the Ukrainian people speak Russian as their first language, including the vast majority of the population of Crimea and the eastern Ukrainian region now controlled by pro-Russian forces.

In both World War I and World War II, German imperialism made the seizure of Ukraine, with its rich soil and proximity to the oilfields of the Caucasus, a key strategic objective. The largest number of Soviet Jews massacred as part of the Holocaust were killed in Ukraine, in atrocities such as Babi Yar, the ravine outside Kiev where 34,000 Jews were machine-gunned, and Odessa, where 50,000 Jews were slaughtered.

American imperialism is seeking to do what German imperialism failed twice to accomplish: use Ukraine as a launching pad for political subversion and military violence against Russia. Behind the backs of the American people, with little or no public discussion, the US government has been shipping large quantities of arms and other war materiel to Ukraine, in an operation that brings with it the increasing danger of a direct US military collision with Russia, a conflict between the two powers that between them deploy most of the world’s nuclear weapons.

The impeachment hearings have focused on anti-Trump witnesses who are themselves key participants in this reactionary foreign policy, and who speak in the Orwellian language of American imperialism. They define “democracy” in Ukraine in terms of the degree to which Ukraine’s government agrees to serve as an instrument of American foreign policy. They hail the so-called “Revolution of Dignity” in which an elected president, Viktor Yanukovych, was overthrown because he was viewed as an obstacle to the anti-Russia campaign. They salute fascistic figures like Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, sponsor of the notorious Azov Battalion, which marches under modified swastikas and celebrates the Ukrainians who collaborated with the Nazis in World War II.

Nothing of this political reality is so much as hinted at in the coverage of the impeachment hearings by either the pro-Trump or anti-Trump corporate media. On the contrary, the presumption is that the foreign policy of the United States government is aimed at the promotion of freedom and democracy and opposed to Russia because Russian President Vladimir Putin is a tyrant.

The role of US imperialism in Ukraine, however, is only one example of the depredations of American imperialism throughout the world, in which countless tyrants and fascists—like Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Brazilian President Jair Bolsanaro—are aligned with the CIA, the Pentagon and the State Department.

Nor is the cavalier attitude of the US government to Ukrainian sovereignty an exception. There is no difference between Washington’s role in Ukraine in 2014, its intervention against the Rajapakse government in Sri Lanka in 2015, its backing for the abortive military coup in Turkey in 2016, or its support for the overthrow of Evo Morales in Bolivia today.

Weaker nations whose rulers get in the way of American imperialism will pay the price, and in some cases, as in Iraq, Venezuela, Syria and Libya—all countries where oil wealth is a major consideration—the result can be invasion, occupation, military coup or a combination of all three.

Washington has its hands around the throats of the Ukrainian people. The issue is not whether this stranglehold is being used for improper “personal” ends by Trump, as the Democrats allege, rather than for the purposes laid down by the national security establishment. The issue is the intervention of the American and international working class to free the Ukrainian people, and the population of the world, from the deadly grip of Wall Street and the Pentagon.

Sentence First, Crime Later?

By Rep. Ron Paul

Attorney General William Barr recently sent a memo to law enforcement officials announcing a new federal initiative that would use techniques and tools developed in the war on terror, such as mass surveillance, to identify potential mass shooters. Those so identified would be targets of early interventions, which would include the disregarding of Second Amendment rights, as well as the imposing of mandatory counseling and involuntary commitment.

The program would likely match data collected via mass surveillance with algorithms designed to identify those with mental problems that would lead them to commit violent crimes. So, this program would deprive Americans of respect for their rights not because they committed, or even threaten to commit, a violent act but because their tweets, texts, or Facebook posts trigger a government algorithm.

In order to enhance the government’s ability to conduct mass surveillance, Barr has been trying to force tech companies to allow the government to have a “backdoor” for accessing electronic information. This would allow the government to read all messages — even those that are encrypted, making it all but impossible to escape the government’s watchful eye.“Homegrown Terrorism” and Terrorism by Association

Many mental health professionals admit that diagnosing mental health issues involves a degree of subjectivity. So how can we trust a government-designed computer algorithm to accurately identify those with mental health problems? The answer is we can’t. Barr’s program will no doubt result in many individuals who are not a threat to anyone being deprived of respect for their rights. The program will also fail in detecting future mass shooters.

Some mental health professionals argue that holding certain political beliefs is a sign of mental illness. Not surprisingly, federal agencies like the FBI agree that those expressing “anti-government extremism”— like supporting a constitutional republic instead of a welfare-warfare state — are potential threats.

A recent internal FBI memo warned that a belief in “conspiracy theories” is a sign that someone could be a domestic terrorist. “Conspiracy theorist” is an all-purpose smear used against anyone who questions the government’s official narrative on an event or issue. Tying a belief in “conspiracy theory” to terrorism is an effort to not just stigmatize but actually criminalize dissenting thoughts on matters such as foreign policy, climate change, gun control, and the Federal Reserve.

Some people support using political beliefs as a basis for labeling someone as “mentally disturbed” because they think it will mainly affect “right-wing extremists.” These people are ignoring the FBI’s history of harassing civil rights and antiwar activists, as well as the recent controversy over the FBI labeling “black identity extremists” as a threat.

A government program to monitor electronic communications to identify potential mass shooters puts all Americans at risk of losing their liberty due to their political views or a few social media posts. All those who value liberty must oppose this dangerous program.

From a home, to refugee camp, to home again

Image result for refugee CAMP CARTOON"

By: Elias Deis |

During the Nakba, Jewish paramilitary forces razed hundreds and hundreds of indigenous towns and villages, displace some 750,000 Palestinians during the creation of the state of Israel. Recognizing the horror and illegitimate means of taking over land by driving out the local population, the international community enshrined the “Right of Return” for the Palestinian refugee community into law. Since 1948, it has been the dream of every Palestinian to return back to their ancestral land, to leave a life of perpetual refugee status, and carry on with their family history, tradition and culture. There are millions of Palestinian refugees across the world today. While we didn’t return a refugee to their home in 2011, we were able to build them a home out of the refugee camps in Bethlehem.

In 2004, the Israeli military demolished the home of Atallah Rizik, sending him to the camps. For seven years he lived in uncertainty if he would ever see anything resembling justice after the demolition of his home. In April of 2011, eighteen supporters of the UK human rights organization the Amos Trust traveled to Palestine to help to rebuild his home in al-Walaji.

The house was completed and the family moved in, but shortly after, Israel issued some 50 demolition orders in the community of al-Walaji. From October 2014 to October 2019, the Israeli military has demolished some 31 structures, impacting over 131 people according to OCHA.

The response from the local community, as well as our international partners in Amos Trust was to redouble our efforts to shine a light on the issue of home demolitions in al-Walaji to the international community, but at the same time provide tangible assistance to the indigenous communities who had been forcefully displaced.

As we move into 2020, with calls for annexation of the West Bank increasing, with waves of home demolitions surging across Palestinian villages, I am off to the United States on an advocacy tour to empower people to take action. As a Palestinian Christian, I understand the life and message of Christ as working for justice on the side of the oppressed and marginalized.

I am asking you to pray for me while on this journey but also pray for my Muslim brothers and sisters who live in a perpetual state of fear, not knowing when their homes will be demolished.

I am also asking you to step into this space with me and make an investment into next year and help Holy Land Trust rebuild a home for a Palestinian family. You can donate through this link here. I am also encouraging you to join us here in the Holy Land and work side-by-side with us on the ground. Join us as we usher in a new future of justice.

Lebanon: What will happen in the next 72 hours?… Zahran reveals

November 11, 2019 unclassified 5,974 visits

Salem Zahran, Director of the Media Center, pointed out that “from the first day the crisis was between the rightly rising street and the external factor that became more exposed after hiding, the economic factor that was not coincidental, and the political factor, which is one of the basic factors. ”.

He explained in a television interview, that “within the next 72 hours the four tracks will meet, and the Governor of the Banque du Liban Riad Salameh will draw an economic road map, and I think he will demand to speed up the formation of the government because the situation is no longer tolerable.”

Zahran stressed that the Amal movement and Hezbollah in the last meeting with caretaker Prime Minister Saad Hariri did not reach a decisive conclusion. He pointed out that we are in front of 72 hours that the door of consultations should not be opened afterwards, calling on President Michel Aoun to call for consultations between Wednesday and Friday because people can no longer afford the luxury of wasting time.

He continued: “It would have been better to have authoring before commissioning, but unfortunately it seems that the external factor is still the basis of the game and dominated the local factor. Seriously, Hariri is waiting for the French envoy, who appears to be working on the American and Iranian lines as well. France and Italy are interested in exploration On oil in Lebanon, “stressing that” there are countries behind the curtain negotiating the pain of people. “

Zahran said, “American play has become short, and we are either going to a political solution soon and the American entered directly into the game, or we will go God forbid confrontation, and I favor a political settlement because the destiny of Lebanon is a political settlement or suicide will be collective” .

He explained that “in front of several streets, there is a street Sadiq and there is a political street was blocking roads to improve the conditions of entry into the government, and there is another street linked to associations and a long story,” revealing that “there is an attempt to split the March 8 team and the Free Patriotic Movement, and I am sure that the Syrian He does not interfere in Lebanon either from near or far and there is no Syrian or Iranian agenda in Lebanon. ”

A banking family smuggling $ 400 million… What about Salama’s position?

Lebanon Debate ”- Riad Touk

The Governor of the Banque du Liban Riad Salameh will try today to reassure the Lebanese that their money is preserved and protected. But he will take full responsibility for the banks and announce, in turn, that they are tweeting out of the bailout of economic rescue policy, and will be asked publicly what he had asked them during meetings with their owners in the past days

True, there has been leaked information that the central bank may plan to inject liquidity into the Lebanese market, and some have spoken of about $ 1 billion. This information is correct, but Salama requires banks to take over this task to meet the need of depositors, and for this purpose they have to borrow from the Central Bank.

Because the interest on debt can be as high as 20 percent, bank owners have not responded to this offer because they are unwilling to bear the debt.

Here, we will be faced with a financial dilemma that will blame the safety of banks that refuse to borrow and refuse to meet the needs of customers, and this will increase the rift between the Central Bank and other banks.

On the other hand, Salama tries to convince banks to increase the daily value of credit cards that have been recently reduced so that the cardholder is unable to use them as much as he wants to pay for his purchases and not just for financial withdrawals.

What seems to have angered Salameh and the price of the dispute with the big bankers is that the central bank has discovered that some of them smuggled large amounts of deposits out of Lebanon. Surprisingly, about two months ago, a banking family from the first economic grade transferred $ 350 million to $ 400 million abroad. This prompted Salama to demand not to distribute profits to banks and inject cash.

The new Riad Salameh, will join his voice on the street and put political power in front of its responsibilities the need to form a government very quickly and within days, because more delays may lead to things out of control permanently.

The head of the Arab Unity Party, Wiam Wahhab, said that there is a court in the street and its verdicts are very harsh and I support this court as a horror for the political team so that its options are correct, saying that the caretaker Prime Minister Saad Hariri has a plan in his mind and maneuvered on everyone, because He knows or the economic situation is going to collapse and he considers that he could name a figure to head the government does not disturb him, but after several months after the collapse will try to return on the white horse.

“This scenario is similar to the scenario carried out by his father, Rafic Hariri, but the economic situation was different,” Wahab said in a television interview. However, a media campaign was organized against him. At the time, the Syrian decision was sympathetic to Hariri.

He stressed that “MPs who are not associated with corruption must ally with civil society to agree on a prime minister.” These are names with no notes. ”

Wahab said: The real problem is the financial situation in front of us, which there is nothing to save, no one is willing to pay 7-8 billion to this team, which no one trusts, we are practicing a laugh at the people, ”.
