Nazi regime sends army to ultra-Orthodox city over coronavirus

By: John Phoniex

Naziyahu on Friday gave the green light for soldiers to be deployed in a mostly ultra-Orthodox Jewish city considered the centre of ‘Israel’s’ novel coronavirus outbreak.

“In light of the special situation in Bnei Brak following the restrictions due to the coronavirus, the IDF (army) will immediately present the necessary civil assistance to Bnei Brak municipality in fulfilling its responsibilities,” Naziyahu’s office said after talks with security and health officials.

Nazi regime have enforced restrictions on access to Bnei Brak, a majority Jewish ultra-Orthodox city near Tel Aviv that is home to around 200,000 people.

More than 7,000 cases of COVID-19, including 40 deaths, have been officially declared in ‘Israel’.

According to local media, half of those infected are ultra-Orthodox Jews, a community which represents only around 10 percent of the population.

Many ultra-Orthodox Jews have refused to comply with confinement measures and social distancing.

This week has seen tense exchanges as Nazi police stepped up patrols of ultra-Orthodox neighbourhoods that have become virus hotspots.

Naziyahu himself re-entered precautionary quarantine this week after Health Minister Yaakov Litzman, a leading member of the ultra-Orthodox community, tested positive for COVID-19.

‘Not without risk’
Nazi army spokesman Jonathan Conricus said the military would deploy 800-1,000 soldiers in Bnei Brak to “assist” local authorities “because of the severity of the situation there and because of the relative lack of implementation of health ministry instructions”.

Nazi Soldiers will help distribute food and medicine and help with the evacuation of people with virus symptoms, Conricus told an online conference call with reporters.

He said the army would also seek to ensure health messages were reaching the ultra-Orthodox community.

Nazi Motti Ravid, director of Mayanei Yeshua hospital in Bnei Brak, told AFP earlier this week that with internet and television prohibited in the ultra-Orthodox community on religious grounds, government directives took a long time to filter through.

Even for those using mobile phones, access to the internet and most message services is blocked, shutting them off from the main form of communication used by the Nazi health ministry.

Conricus said Nazi soldiers would wear orange and most of them would not carry weapons.

He anticipated misunderstandings and frustrations among the community, but “we are taking that into consideration”.

Commanders “are doing a crash course” on the “social fabrics” of Bnei Brak to minimise friction, the spokesman said.

“It is a very delicate” situation, he said. “It is not without risk.”

75,000 cases in Bnei Brak?
Nazi Ran Saar, director of the health care organisation Maccabi, has said almost 40 percent of the population of Bnei Brak could be infected by the novel coronavirus, equivalent to nearly 75,000 cases.

“According to various indicators, about 38 percent of Bnei Brak residents are ill,” Saar said Thursday before a parliamentary committee examining the government response to the pandemic.

Nazi resident are currently restricted from venturing out more than 100 metres (330 feet) from their homes, except to go to the supermarket, pharmacy or hospital.

Naziyahu has said that the Passover holiday, which begins Wednesday and lasts eight days, could be a “turning point” in the fight against the novel coronavirus if precautions are followed.

Last month, gatherings for the religious festival of Purim were banned, but many ultra-Orthodox defied the restrictions, which authorities say contributed to the spread of the virus.

In Bnei Brak, some residents have not only ignored health regulations but also faced off with the Nazi police.

A number of them were reportedly part of a group known as the Jerusalem Faction, which is fiercely opposed to the integration of ultra-Orthodox Jews in the army.

The COVID-19 Hysteria: Important Video – Corona: The Collapse Of The System

By Ernst Wolff

Well… I did have to work today, as I am considered an “essential service”….But it is now even frustrating there as I have been forced to practice “social distancing” and to constantly “wash my hands” and obey corporation orders in regards to this COVID-19 fraud…. I have been warned that if I do not “adhere” to guidelines, I will have written ‘warnings’ in my work file, and subsequent ‘warnings’ could mean “termination”..

Honestly, I do not know what to make of this world any more… The fucking liars in our governments and the idiots in the Jew spew media have people so brainwashed with false ‘fear’ that many are now nothing more than walking zombies… People everywhere that I have met over the last while have that “glazed over” eyes look like “deer in headlights” with many just in so much sheer panic that they will not get within 20-30 feet of other people…. And many are now watching everyone else like a bunch of automaton idiots and making sure that everyone around them is “obeying” the new “laws”.  If anyone “violates” the “laws” as THEY see fit, they will not hesitate to report those “violators”… Welcome to the new world where everyone is a snitch and a prick, and freedom and liberty is now out the door..

Just the other day, my fellow Canadian, Greencrow (, alerted me to a new video that Penny, over at “Penny For Your Thoughts” ( has up, and Crow said that I should have that video up at this site, for it is DYNAMITE and a must see by everyone…  I therefore will oblige and I want to present that video, entitled: “#Corona: The Collapse Of The System(Ernst Wolff)” that was originally issued in only German, but now has English subtitles enclosed so that everyone can watch and listen for themselves…. I absolutely do have that video right here and I do have my own thoughts and comments to follow:

NTS Notes: I listened to this video several times myself over the last while, paying attention of course to the English subtitles for translation of what Ernst Wolff is saying, and I do agree with most of his conjectures in regards to this fraud “pandemic” and how this fraud is bringing about the collapse of the entire system!

And I do also want to give a tip of the hat to the author over at “YayaCanada” ( for bringing this video to light as well…

I also have said many times that there is a diabolical goal in mind for the criminals that brought about this fraud “pandemic” and IMHO it is the collapse of the present “financial” system and our systems of government to bring about their insidious “One world government agenda” as well as to have everyone placed under the ultimate surveillance system by having everyone “vaccinated” to have microchip tracking mechanisms installed in our bodies….

And lets face it… I and others have WARNED everyone for the last few years that the present financial system was unsustainable and was heading to a very hard crash that would have dwarfed the Great Depression… The criminals running our present “fractional reserve” system of endless debt could no longer sustain the present system and had to find a way to bring about their change… And voila we have this ‘pandemic’ at just the nick of time to be used as their “cover” so that they can collapse the system…. I can guarantee that there will NOT be a “return to normal” when this fraud crisis is over as the old system was impossible to maintain…. I therefore can see the bastards come up with their “cashless” society as well as a “new financial system” that will have all of us enslaved to their evil in perpetuity……

I am also glad that the massive DERIVATIVE bubble was discussed by Ernst Wolff…. I have put up several articles at this blog talking about that horrific “800 lb gorilla” in the room that nobody ever wants to talk about… .People need to understand that the total value of those ‘derivatives’ now sits at nearly 2 QUADRILLION dollars, and if any, or even a small portion, of those ‘derivatives” were to ever be “exposed” or forced on any nation to try to force that nation to pay back (mostly through blackmail…), it could cause that nation to fail completely and possibly cause a ripple effect that could crash the entire world economy….. I have called derivatives the most dangerous thing imaginable in terms of economic armageddon in some previous articles, and I was not kidding..

I am continuing my exposure of this entire fraud pandemic…. There is still so much information out there for everyone to get a full understanding of what exactly is going on under the cover of this ‘forced isolation” and “shut down” of our nations…. I will do my best to bring forward that information right here when it does become available, so stay tuned…

The COVID-19 Hysteria: COVID-19, Smartphone Surveillance, And The State

As I said in my last few articles.. .I have had it in regards the the idiots out there that are NOT using critical thinking skills at all but have allowed themselves to be so easily  manipulated that they cannot see the reality that this COVID-19 “pandemic” is an unmitigated scam….
I have watched our very freedoms and liberties become so rapidly eroded with this “pandemic” bullshit… It is bad enough that now here in central Canada we have this Gestapo aka Stasi “force” out there now patrolling the streets, stupidly and yet arrogantly WATCHING over everyone, and wanting to “warn” and then subsequently arrest anyone that is in “violation” of the idiotic and ludicrous “COVID-19 laws” that are nothing more than police state edicts…. I honestly want to see true believers in freedom and liberties publicly shame these idiots and at the same time protest against our crooked government that thought this was a “good thing”!
But one thing did catch my eyes over the last two weeks, and that was the reports about new “Apps” available for our smartphones that would alert users if anyone in their vicinity had “contracted” this bullshit “COVID-19 virus”….. I could not believe what I was reading as the reports called this travesty and ruination of everyone’s personal rights and freedoms yet another “good thing”…. What the fuck are people thinking that they would actually load this horrendous application on their phones and thus allow the police state to have them under constant surveillance??
Well, I am not alone in seeing the reality that the criminals in charge are indeed pushing for their full blown “surveillance” state and will be using our smartphones as a prime method of watching over everyone… For according to the following report from the Global Research team out of Canada, at, apparently they too can see the dangers of loading our phones with stupid “apps” that will indeed destroy our freedoms as the criminals will indeed use those devices against every one of us!  Here is that article, entitled: “COVID-19, Smartphone Surveillance, And The State” right here for everyone to see for themselves… I have my own thoughts and comments to follow:

COVID-19, Smartphone Surveillance, and the State

By Kurt Nimmo

Global Research

For the state, there is one primary imperative—to remain in power at all cost. If this imperative is to be successful, the state must impose, by stealth or deception, a system capable of monitoring all individuals who may pose an immediate or future threat to its dominance. The COVID-19 “crisis,” produced either deliberately or by an act of nature, provides the state with a nearly airtight pretext for the imposition of further surveillance of the public, in particular political adversaries. The largely manufactured “war on terror” following the attacks of 9/11 produced the needed climate of suspicion and fear to make possible the implementation of the Patriot Act, “a domestic-surveillance wish list full of investigatory powers long sought by the FBI,” an agency that has for many decades served as apolitical police force, a fact made public during the Church Committee hearings in the mid-1970s. Much of what we know about technological surveillance in the wake of 9/11 was gleaned from the revelations of Edward Snowden, a former NSA, and CIA employee. Snowden exposed a number of global surveillance programs, including PRISM and XKeyscore, the former in partnership with Microsoft, Apple, and Google. “The story of the deliberate creation of the modern mass-surveillance state includes elements of Google’s surprising, and largely unknown, origin,” writes Jeff Nesbit for Quartz. The NSA and CIA “research arms” funded “birds of a feather,” including Google, as part of an effort to track and trace individuals across the internet. Funding was provided in part by the National Science Foundation and Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, also known as DARPA. Human beings and like-minded groups who might pose a threat to national security can be uniquely identified online before they do harm. This explains why the intelligence community found [Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page’s] research efforts [into search engines] so appealing; prior to this time, the CIA largely used human intelligence efforts in the field to identify people and groups that might pose threats. The ability to track them virtually (in conjunction with efforts in the field) would change everything.During the development of the Google search engine, Brin was in contract with an employee of the defense contractor MITRE Corp, a corporation “leading research and development efforts for the NSA, CIA, US Air Force Research Laboratory and US Navy’s Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command [and] the CIA’s internal Research and Development department,” according to journalist Kit KlarenbergThe National Security State Needs an Enemy: Senator Warren Warns About “White Supremacist” ThreatThe advent of social media further increased efforts to profile, track, and trace individuals. “You don’t need to wear a tinfoil hat to believe that the CIA is using Facebook, Twitter, Google… and other social media to spy on people,” CBS News reported almost a decade ago. The coronavirus provides an additional pretense to further the already deep reach of the surveillance state and its corporate partners. The national security state has graduated from the exaggerated threat of Muslim terrorists in caves to an invisible pathogen a corporate propaganda media has exploited to frighten an ill-informed public—and thus clear the way for the state to introduce new and more intrusive surveillance. Google and Apple have teamed up to create a system that tracks and traces individuals allegedly exposed to the coronavirus. “The technology would rely on the Bluetooth signals that smartphones can both send out and receive,” NPR reports. If a person tests positive for COVID-19, they could notify public health authorities through an app. Those public health apps would then alert anyone whose smartphones had come near the infected person’s phone in the prior 14 days… The companies insist that they will preserve smartphone users’ privacy.Google, however, cannot be trusted to preserve and respect privacy. In September the corporation was ordered to pay $170 million fine after it knowingly and illegally harvested personal information from childrenon its YouTube platform. Prior to this, the Silicon Vally tech giant was caught sharing its users’ personal information without obtaining consent. In 2014, Google was fined $22.5 million for implementing a workaround that let it spy on the browsing histories of mobile clients. As Snowden recently pointed out, after COVID-19 runs its course the data collected will still be available to government and it will “use new causes like terrorist threats to justify continually gathering and analyzing people’s data.” The expansion of the state’s surveillance network under the guise of protecting the American people from an invisible predator is being led by the son-in-law of President Trump, Jared Kushner. “The proposed national network could help determine which areas of the country can safely relax social-distancing rules and which should remain vigilant. But it would also represent a significant expansion of government use of individual patient data, forcing a new reckoning over privacy limits amid a national crisis,” Politico reports. Health privacy laws already grant broad exceptions for national security purposes. But the prospect of compiling a national database of potentially sensitive health information has prompted concerns about its impact on civil liberties well after the coronavirus threat recedes, with some critics comparing it to the Patriot Act enacted after the 9/11 attacks. The state, however, is far less concerned with the health of the American people than it is with enhancing its control over them, in particular those involved in political activism outside predefined parameters set by the state and its political class. If a total surveillance system is to be realized, people will be required to submit, not under duress or force but willingly and with open arms. Henry Kissinger declared after the LA riots that presented with the right crisis, people will turn to the state and demand protection. “The one thing every man fears is the unknown. When presented with this scenario, individual rights will be willingly relinquished for the guarantee of their well-being granted to them by the World Government,” said the notorious Rockefeller operative. Kissinger made his remark during a Bilderberg meeting in Evian, France in 1992. It is hardly surprising, then, that Kissinger used the exaggerated and media-hyped threat of a seasonal virus killing millions to argue in favor of world government. “Addressing the necessities of the moment must ultimately be coupled with a global collaborative vision and program,” Kissinger wrote for the Wall Street Journal. This “global collaborative vision” of a one-world government cannot be effectively realized so long as there are political adversaries warning of lost liberty and the inevitability of totalitarianism inherent in the framework of so-called global governance. If allowed to be implemented, total surveillance will negate all political threats and our natural rights as well. *Note to readers: please click the share buttons above or below. NTS Notes:  I fully agree with Kurt Nimmo’s assertions stated in this article, for readers are well aware that  I have been against every form of so called “social media” for the last decade at least… I have looked at that fraud as being nothing more than a data mining tool for gathering suckers’ personal information… The idea that it would eventually evolve into full blown surveillance tools also has crossed my mind before and now we see it happening right now thanks to this fraudulent “pandemic”!
Yes, the goal is absolutely a full blown total surveillance system where everyone will be watched and kept in “order” thanks to the criminals in charge… Rights and freedoms will indeed be a thing of the past, as these criminals will know everything that you do on a daily basis and will have you hunted down with no escape if you do not “comply” to their orders…
Freedom and liberty is indeed at stake here… Everyone must reject the idea of being put under criminal surveillance, and absolutely do NOT use the phony “social media’ apps on their phones, for they can easily be used for a surveillance system as well..
And please do everything that you can to oppose the bullshit “laws” and “regulations” that the criminals are trying to force on everyone under the guise of this bullshit “COVID-19 pandemic”…   Our very future is at stake here and now..

Remembering Theresa Halasa: Revered Veteran of the Palestinian Resistance

Theresa Halasa, a veteran of the Palestinian armed resistance movement, survived over a decade in an Israeli prison. Last week, she succumbed to cancer at 65.

By Miko Peled

Amman, Jordan — “I didn’t join the Palestinian resistance because I experienced suffering, I joined out of a sense of patriotism,” Theresa Halasa, a revered veteran of the Palestinian resistance said this in an interview in 2009. Halasa died in Amman on March 28, 2020, after succumbing to cancer. She was 65 years old.

In 1972, Halasa was one of four Palestinians who hijacked a Belgian Sabena airliner en route to Tel-Aviv. The objective was to keep the passengers hostage until the Israeli government agreed to release Palestinians held in Israel prisons. However, less than 24 hours after landing in Tel-Aviv, Israeli commandos stormed the plane dressed as technicians. They immediately killed two of the hijackers and captured the other two, Halasaamong them. Two of the commanders that led the raid were Ehud Barak and Benjamin Netanyahu.

Netanyahu was slightly injured in the arm by a bullet during the raid. Israel claims it was from friendly fire, the Palestinians claim it was Halasa who caused the injury. Either way, it was no more than a flesh wound.

A Palestinian Patriot

Theresa Halasa was born in Palestine in 1954, not far from Akka in the beautiful town of Al-Rameh in the Upper Galilee. She studied nursing in Nazareth, and as a student, she joined Maki, the Israeli Communist Party which at that time was the political home to many activist Palestinian citizens of Israel. “I received my patriotism from my father,” she says repeatedly. “We did not suffer, suffering was not the cause for my joining the struggle, it was the sense of patriotism I received from my father.”

“I had a romantic notion that I would find the resistance in the streets, but that’s not where it was. There was no resistance in the streets,” Halasa says, “I had to go to Lebanon,” which at the time was the center of the Palestinian resistance. “I made the decision to leave for Lebanon in January, 1971,” she said.

Halasa left home without telling her family. She proceeded north towards Kiryat Shmona, an Israeli city near the Lebanese border, then to Matala, (the Israeli colony of Metula) and from there she crossed the border into Lebanon. “The trip, which would normally take an hour and a half, took me three nights and two days.” She arrived in Marj Ayun hungry and exhausted and from there she was led to a Fateh camp where she was questioned for several days.

“I had a few months of training with weapons and explosives and then had to swallow the news that I was selected for an operation.” The hijacking was planned by Ali Hasan Salame who headed the Palestinian “Black September” group.

Armed Resistance

Halasa never regretted participating in the highjacking, even though it came at great cost to her and her comrades. Two Palestinians were killed and she was injured. Furthermore, she and another female hijacker, Rima Tanous, were tried by an Israeli military court, convicted and sentenced to several lifetimes in prison. Both women would eventually be released in prisoner exchanges. Halasa ended up serving twelve years in an Israeli prison after which she was exiled to Jordan.

It is hard to say for sure what type of training she and the others received before embarking on this operation, but based on her testimony, it only lasted a few months. One can assume they learned how to operate small arms, machine guns, and hand grenades, and how to make explosives. One thing of which we can be sure is that the resources the Palestinian resistance had were not enough to prepare her and her comrades to face the Israeli army, much less an elite commando unit.

An Israeli combat soldier will go through many months of grueling basic training, after which the real work of learning to be a professional soldier begins. The resources Israel has are far superior and its soldiers are far better trained, equipped and even better fed than anything the Palestinian resistance could ever have hoped for. Consequently, when the Palestinian resistance fighters faced the Israeli commandos or even regular soldiers, the saga always ended swiftly with the Palestinians paying the heavier price.

Israel made sure that its military was always superior to any other military in the region. Since Palestinians have never had more than armed guerrilla forces, which cannot compare to a regular army, Israel always had the upper hand.

Israeli Oppression

In an interview with Aljazeera, Halasa said she believed that Palestine will only be returned to its people by the force of resistance, a claim that Israel has proven to be true over and over again. What this resistance will look like is, of course, another question. Israel has purposely made it impossible to resolve the Palestine question peaceably and without confrontation. As the years go by, the oppression, the killing, and the dispossession of Palestinian have become more entrenched.

Therese Halaseh funeral

Theresa Halasa is laid to rest in Amman, Jordan

Palestinian efforts at armed resistance and at negotiating have cost the Palestinians dearly and yielded no positive results. The only option left is to pursue dedicated, uncompromising campaigns of boycotts, divestment and sanctions. Israel must be isolated, its ambassadors must be sent home and all countries must call their ambassadors back from Tel-Aviv. The campaign must also demand an end to Israeli participation in the Olympic Games, the World Cup, all academic, cultural, sporting events must be closed to Israel.

Theresa Halasa did not live to see her homeland liberated. She stepped up and was willing to pay the price and indeed she paid a price for her patriotism, but the ultimate goal was not achieved. One hopes that she will be remembered and that the lessons of her experience will be shared widely so that all of us who are alive today will see her dream of a free Palestine become a reality.

Gaza: Nazi regime May Block Coronavirus Respirators

Israel May Block Coronavirus Respirators, Aid, to Gaza

By Motasem A Dalloul, reposted from Informed Comment

In response to a humanitarian appeal launched by the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza to obtain $23 million in urgent aid, in addition to medicine and medical equipment including 250 respirators in order to deal with the coronavirus in the besieged enclave, Israeli Defence Minister Naftali Bennett threatened that humanitarian aid might not be allowed into Gaza, until the release of Israeli soldiers, or their remains, captured by the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas.

“There is talk of the humanitarian world in Gaza – Israel also has humanitarian needs, which are mainly the recovery of the fallen,” Bennett disclosed. “I think that we need to enter a broad dialogue about Gaza’s and our humanitarian needs. It would not be right to disconnect these things… and certainly, our hearts would be open to many things,” he added.

Linking the issue of the Israeli soldiers, or remains of soldiers, to the issue of the urgent humanitarian needs for the Gaza Strip related to the fight against the coronavirus, is nothing short of deceptive. It is nothing more than an attempt by Bennett to paint a glowing image of himself and his country, and convey that they are concerned with humanity, while the Gazan rulers are portrayed as savages due to withholding two, or the remains of two, Israelis in Gaza.

The two Israeli soldiers were captured or killed while they were in their tanks bombing Palestinian homes and killing civilians in 2014, when the 51-day Israeli offensive killed more than 2,260 Palestinians, including more than 400 children and nearly the same number of women, wounding more than 11,000 others.

If two Israeli soldiers are being held by the Palestinians and the Israeli defence minister wanted them to be released on a humanitarian grounds, why did not he release 5,000 Palestinian prisoners living in dire conditions in Israeli jails, including 43 women and girls, 250 boys and over 1,000 patients, with at least 250 suffering from serious conditions?

Several rights groups have warned that the Palestinian prisoners inside Israeli jails are vulnerable to contracting coronavirus, given the overcrowded prisons and bad ventilation, with a severe lack of hygiene. On Thursday, the Israeli Prison Service let out six Palestinian prisoners from Ofer Prison. They must have contracted the coronavirus because a prisoner from the same prison had been recently released and tested positive for the virus. Rights groups have reiterated several times that Israel is imposing a media blackout regarding the news about the coronavirus among prisoners, in order not to underscore their humanitarian crimes.

Meanwhile, if the Israeli defence minister wanted the release of the Israeli soldiers captured in Gaza on humanitarian grounds, why did he not lift his country’s strict and illegal siege imposed on the Gaza Strip in 2007? Why did he not look at the number of Palestinians who died due to the lack of medical equipment, proper healthcare and medicine as a result of his country’s siege? Why did he not look at the thousands of Palestinians who are still displaced because they could not rebuild their homes which were destroyed by his army in 2014? Why did he not consider the hundreds of children, mothers and fathers who have been waiting to be reunited with their loved ones who have been imprisoned by his country?

Despite all of this, the Israeli defence minister must know that the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip put all their hostilities with the Israeli occupation aside and provided Israel with millions of medical face masks, while it faces an increasing outbreak of the coronavirus.

Hassan Shehata, owner of a sewing factory in Gaza, told AFP that the Israeli companies sent materials to him, and his factory is to make millions of medical masks for Israel. The owner of another factory in Gaza revealed that he has already signed contracts with Israeli business partners to provide one million masks and 50,000 protective suits by the end of April.

Mr. Bennett, we do not want people like you, with the blood of innocent people on their hands, to teach us, the Palestinians, lessons about humanity and morals. Please, do not paint an innocent image of you and your unscrupulous country at the expense of our suffering inflicted by you and your violent state. Enough of your merchandising of humanity on the world, while you remain inhumane.

Nazi Jewish Settlers Flood Palestinian Crops with Waste Water in Hebron

By: Sammi Ibrahem,Sr

Several armed Nazi Jewish colonial settlers reportedly caused flooding of Palestinian-owned grape farms, on Monday, in north of the occupied West Bank city of Hebron.

Local Palestinian media activist, Mohammad Awwad, told media outlets that for the second time in a week, several armed settlers from the nearby the Nazi Jewish illegal colonial settlement of Gush Etzion, flooded grape farm lands in the Beit Ummar village, with large quantities of waste water, causing grape trees to flood, causing damage.

Awwad quoted grape farmers from the Palestinian families of Sabarna and Awwad, as saying that armed Nazi Jewish settlers have been intentionally flooding their farm lands with large quantities of waste water, over the past few years, causing a great deal of financial losses, due to damage of their grape crops.

The media activist estimated the size of those grape farms at more than 4 acres.

The southern West Bank city of Hebron is a major supplier of grapes across the Nazi illegally occupied Palestinian territories, being of excellent quality for both consumption and export.

Did the US send a million medical masks to the Nazi military?

Did the US send a million medical masks to the Israeli military?

Did the US send a million medical masks to the Israeli military?

Photo and caption from Israel’s Jerusalem Post newspaper: The US Department of Defense delivers one million surgical masks to be used by the IDF (photo credit: Israeli Defense Spokesperson’s Office)

By Alison Weir

Israel’s Jerusalem Post newspaper reported yesterday:

US Department of Defense give 1 million masks to IDF for coronavirus use”

The story reported:

“A plane carrying over a million surgical masks for the IDF landed in Ben-Gurion airport Tuesday night, in an operation ran by the US Department of Defense’s Delegation of Procurement…”

Now the headline (same url) has been changed to:

Israel brings 1 million masks from China for IDF soldiers

And the reference to “the US Department of Defense’s Delegation of Procurement” has been taken out.

What’s going on?

Did the Jerusalem Post get the story wrong and and then correct it? (Without acknowledging its original error.)

Or is the newspaper trying to hide facts that would upset Americans?

(Remember: numerous American healthcare workers, first responders, and others are going without face masks because of dangerous shortages. The administration has invoked the Defense Production Act to prevent the export of surgical masks and gloves outside the country.)

If the answer is the latter, and JP simply got some of the story wrong, there are still additional questions.

The article quotes someone named Limor Kolishevsky, whom it identifies as “head of the New York Purchasing and Logistics Division,” boasting: “In the past two weeks we have purchased and flown to Israel tens of thousands of swabs, masks, protective suits for medical staff and more.”

Why and how is someone in New York sending tens of thousands of masks and other equipment to the Israeli military?

Especially when these have been so desperately needed by people in New York, which recently reported a record 800-plus coronavirus deaths in one day.

(And remember, Israeli forces have a long record of human rights abuses, including daily invading Palestinian towns and villages, beating people up, abducting them, etc.)

Americans may wish to ask their Congressional representatives and the White House (202-456-1111) to find out the answers, and tell them to the American public, whose tax dollars give Israel over $10 million per day.

As US Consigns Iranians to Death, Media Look the Other Way

As US Consigns Iranians to Death, Media Look the Other Way

Photo from HRW news video on Iran

The best way to comprehensively remedy the inordinate harm the Iran sanctions do, it seems, would be to lift the sanctions, but few in the corporate media are making this rather obvious point. (Israel and its partisans have long targeted Iran.)

By Gregory Shupak, reposted from FAIR
Covid-19 has hammered few countries as hard as it has hit Iran, which reports (as of April 8) 64,586 cases and 3,993 deaths. US sanctions are a major reason that Iranians are getting infected with and dying from the coronavirus in such large numbers: The US’s economic warfare softened Iran up for the pandemic well before its outbreak.

Human Rights Watch documented last year (10/29/19) that sanctions had “drastically constrained the ability of [Iran] to finance humanitarian imports, including medicines, causing serious hardships for ordinary Iranians and threatening their right to health.” US sanctions are specifically designed to immiserate Iran, and driving the country into poverty has left it ill-equipped to deal with the coronavirus emergency:  Before the pandemic, sanctions had already cost Iran about $200 billion in revenue, primarily from decimated oil sales, and devalued the currency by half in the past two years (New York Times4/1/20).

As the scholar Eskandar Sadeghi-Boroujerdi (Jadaliyya12/3/19) noted in December, the sanctions constitute “the collective punishment of over 81 million Iranians through and by means of one of the most comprehensive and unrelenting sanctions regimes in modern history.” They are

an effective economic blockade dragooning the energy sector, banking and finance (including its central bank), foreign investment and foreign exchange reserves and targeting basic foodstuffs, lifesaving medicines and much else besides. The war is near total and unremitting, and it has already taken many lives.

America’s economic blitzkrieg extends to trying to dictate whether and how other countries engage with Iran. Last June, US special representative for Iran Brian Hook told European companies that they “have a choice: Do business with the United States or do business with Iran” (Washington Post6/28/19). In January, days before Europeans warned Iran of nuclear deal violations and instituted a dispute resolution mechanism established in the 2015 nuclear deal, President Trump secretly threatened to impose 25% tariff on European autos if Europe start the dispute resolution process; the US views this mechanism as a critical part of sanctioning Iran (Washington Post1/15/20).

Since Covid-19 has been tearing through Iran, the US state has not eased up its assault, “leaving Iran racing to curb the rapid, deadly spread of the new coronavirus, but these efforts are complicated by tight economic restrictions imposed by the United States” (Newsweek2/24/20). In fact, the US has escalated its aggression during the pandemic by adding further sanctions, “keeping up its economic pressure campaign” (Reuters3/17/20) against a country where people are dying by the thousands—one every ten minutes, according to the Iranian health ministry—in significant measure because of that pressure campaign.

The Trump administration claims that sanctions exempt the sale of medicine and medical devices, allowing Iran to access humanitarian aid, but as the New York Times (4/1/20) has acknowledged, “American secondary sanctions on financial institutions and companies that do business with Iran have made it nearly impossible for Iran to buy items like ventilators to treat coronavirus patients.” Human Rights Watch (10/29/19) has noted that the sanctions scare companies and banks out of doing business with Iran, and that

as a result, Iranians’ access to essential medicine and their right to health is being negatively impacted, and may well worsen if the situation remains unchanged, thereby threatening the health of millions of Iranians.

Now the US is blocking Iran’s request for a $5 billion IMF loan to fight coronavirus (Wall Street Journal4/7/20). Iranian “officials have a long history of diverting funds allocated for humanitarian goods into their own pockets and to their terrorist proxies,” the Journal quoted an anonymous Trump administration official in the third paragraph, as though this were a trustworthy source.

Because the US government is directly responsible for Iranian deaths, Washington’s role should be a central concern to US media. Yet that’s not the case, according to my examination of stories published between the emergence of Covid-19 in late December and April 2.  The Washington Post published 386 articles that address Iran and coronavirus during that period, and 55 contained the word “sanctions.” In other words, 85% of the paper’s Iran-related Covid-19 coverage neglected to note that the government based in the city with which the publication shares its name has played an important part in the disease’s destruction in Iran.

The New York Times ran 439 stories that mentioned Iran and the coronavirus, and 40 of them, a mere 9%, referred to the sanctions. One of these was an editorial (3/25/20) calling for the blockade on Iran to be lifted, but this article accepted and amplified the premises that are used to try to justify the sanctions:

Ideally, [lifting the US sanctions] could lead to a lowering of tensions, a reduction of attacks on American targets in Iraq by Iranian allies, and even, down the line, serious discussions on freezing Iran’s nuclear escalation.

That’s a lot of maybes, given a regime that has shown no inclination to back down before the United States. But if Iran refused American help or continued in its ways despite it, the sanctions would go back into place and the Islamist leaders would be hard put to convince their people that the United States was blocking humanitarian aid.

What the paper called “Iran’s nuclear escalation” is a reference to Iran saying that it was no longer bound by a 2015 agreement that effectively ceased to exist when Trump scrapped it almost two years ago. Iran says that its nuclear program is purely for civilian purposes, and diplomats (AFP3/9/20) have reportedly said

that none of [Iran’s] current stockpile is enriched beyond 4.5%, with much of it at a lower level than that. It would need to be enriched to roughly 90% for use in a bomb, not to mention all the other work required to produce a weapon.

The United States, meanwhile, has just under 6,200 nuclear warheads, an arsenal that the New York Times evidently does not regard as dangerous.

Note also that demands are only made of Iran: The Iraqi forces allied with Iran have to stop their attacks on American troops that are in the country against the wishes of Iraq’s parliament, but the US doesn’t have to cease its attacks on them, let alone leave the country. Evidently, US forces in Iraq against the country’s democratic will should face no consequences for their violence, but Iran should be subject to economic throttling when its allies in the Iraqi military try to drive the US out.

In uncritically parroting the extremely dubious rationale for sanctions, the Times adopts a peculiar method of arguing against them.

Of 343 stories in the Wall Street Journal that cover the coronavirus and Iran, 65 include the term “sanctions,” just 19%. An editorial (3/25/20) in the paper said the sanctions should continue, using the same talking points as the Times about Iraq and about Iran’s nuclear program, though the Journal goes even further and suggests that Iran is involved in “nuclear weapons development.” (The International Atomic Energy Agency’s March 3 Iran report says nothing to suggest that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons.)

Furthermore, the Journal wrote that

American restrictions on Iranian economic activity include an exception for food and medicine imports. It’s true that in the past banks were still hesitant to allow such transactions, but the US and Switzerland created a clearer channel for financiers to provide the country with help last month.

However, the Swiss payment system is “hardly a substitute for US sanctions relief (Newsweek2/24/20). It can only, as Human Rights Watch noted, “mitigate the harm United States sanctions pose to Iranians’ right to health.” It remains necessary, the group’s deputy Middle East director said, “to monitor the negative impact of US sanctions on human rights, and to take steps for a remedy.”

Bloomberg’s Eli Lake (3/22/20) also tried to conceal that he’s sadistically calling for the US to keep collectively punishing Iran—a war crime, as it happens—during a global pandemic by invoking the Swiss channel, writing that

the US has tried to make it easier for the regime to purchase or trade for medicine and hospital equipment since the pandemic started. Last month, the US and Swiss governments established a humanitarian aid channel to make it easier for banks and financial institutions to underwrite such transactions with Iran.

Yet, as sanctions lawyer and political commentator Tyler Cullis (Responsible Statecraft2/20/20) noted, the Swiss payment approach seems to make it harder for Iran to access humanitarian items:

The so-called “humanitarian mechanism”—which was borne out of a desire to placate public concern over the effects of US sanctions on the Iranian people—sought to institute a system whereby foreign banks could receive written assurance from the US government that they would not be sanctioned for facilitating trade in humanitarian goods on the condition that they conduct enhanced due diligence with respect to Iranian counterparties and submit routine reports to the US government regarding any transactions conducted….

Not surprisingly, the mechanism has been an utter failure…. The Trump administration set up a “humanitarian channel” that is not just too limited in scope to have meaningful impact on Iran’s ability to access basic humanitarian goods, but that threatens to push out those few remaining banks that continue to facilitate trade in humanitarian goods with Iran. The reason is obvious: If the US government provides written assurance to certain banks that they will not be sanctioned for engaging in non-sanctionable trade with Iran, then other banks will be reluctant to facilitate such trade absent the written assurance. But, because such written assurance is barred for many foreign banks due to data-sharing laws in their local jurisdictions and because such written assurance appears to have only been provided to Swiss bank(s) at this time, those foreign banks that have facilitated trade in humanitarian goods with Iran up until this point are inclined to bow out due to the increased risks brought about by the humanitarian mechanism.

The best way to comprehensively remedy the inordinate harm the Iran sanctions do, it seems, would be to lift the sanctions, but few in the corporate media are making this rather obvious point.

Editor’s note: Israel and its partisans have long targeted Iran as a potential threat to Israel. See this example:

Researchers warn commercial satellite boom may threaten US national security

Hackers could shut down satellites – or turn them into weapons

by RIA Novosti

The mass building and deployment of commercial satellites is likely to bring about serious threats to the US’ national security and global interests, as fellow countries quickly work to expand their stakes in space, a new study published by researchers with the Institute of Defense Analyses (IDA) has revealed.

Published in the National Defense University’s Joint Forces Quarterly, the study noted that while the spike in satellites will help to better inform US service members across the board during military operations, the build-up will also have some drawbacks.

“The effects of proliferated constellations will not be confined to the commercial sector. The exponential increase in the number of satellites on orbit will shape the future military operating environment in space,” reads the study.

“These trends will also create new challenges as adversaries ranging from Great Power competitors to hostile nonstate actors gain cheap access to space capabilities and the emergence of space-based Internet reshapes the cyber battlespace.”

Referencing various satellite projects by China, such as the 156-satellite Xingyun and 300-satellite Hongyan low Earth orbit constellations, IDA researchers Matthew Hallex and Travis Cottom speculated that such “systems could pose a significant threat to US interests” as a result of “China’s willingness to allow for commercial dealings with countries hostile to the United States.”

When it comes to potential dangers from Russia’s ongoing satellite projects, researchers stated that efforts by Russian space agency Roscosmos present less of a threat to the US due to “difficulties facing the Russian civil and commercial space programs.” The study does not offer further details on the matter.

Aside from possible threats from other nations, Hallex and Cottom also addressed in their study risks posed by having an excessive amount of satellites in low Earth orbit. With a more congested space environment comes the possibility of collisions with other satellites, a setback which would largely become a distraction for US service members assigned to national security operations.

However, not all was doom and gloom in the study. The creation of “mega-constellations” could pave the way for developing countries to improve their communication lines, researchers stated.

“Mega-constellations could allow the developing world to skip laying costly fiber-optic cable in the same way the proliferation of cellular phone technology provided communications without the need to build phone lines in the developing world,” reads the study.

“[Low Earth orbit]-proliferated constellations will also be able to provide communications to high-latitude populations in Alaska, northern Canada, Scandinavia, and Russia, which are poorly served by terrestrial communications infrastructure and outside the coverage of GEO [geosynchronous] communications satellites.”

Satellite internet company OneWeb is one of several companies eyeing the opportunity to launch such communications clusters: the firm plans to have a first-generation constellation of 648 satellites, to be expanded later. However, though OneWeb has launched some 74 satellites thus far, the chances of the constellation being completed are somewhat shaky, as the company recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Per OneWeb, its bankruptcy was rooted in loss of financial backing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Unlike OneWeb, fellow contender aerospace company SpaceX is due to go full steam ahead with its objective to build a constellation of some 12,000 satellites, called Starlink. Recently it was reported by Space News that SpaceX was given the go-ahead to launch its sixth batch of satellites on April 16.

Politicians fear the people: Workers win unemployment benefit expansion

Politicians fear the people: Workers win unemployment benefit expansion

Unemployed workers in 1931. Some estimates suggest unemployment during the current crisis will be worse than during the Great Depression.

The 3.3 million people who filed for unemployment benefits as the Coronavirus shutdown began have been joined by an additional 6.6 million newly-unemployed workers in the latest weekly Labor Department statistics. And there are likely millions more who did not file with the Labor Department because websites and call centers were inaccessible or they are unjustly denied benefits due to immigration status. The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis has estimated that 47 million people could lose jobs in the next quarter as a result of the pandemic. The resulting 32.1% unemployment rate would far exceed the 24.9% experienced in the Great Depression.

The deadly impact of the pandemic is not surprising, given that tens of millions of people, many of them barely making ends meet, have no access to health care and medical insurance is often linked to employment. Add mass layoffs as businesses grind to a halt, and a purely medical threat becomes a full-blown crisis exposing profound structural flaws in a profit-driven system. The pandemic makes it obvious that workers keep society running, not the bosses.

Working class people are not just passively waiting for corporate bosses and politicians to address the crisis. Fears over how to pay bills without a paycheck, combined with anger over a lack of protective equipment, is driving a wave of courageous actions across the country. Several companies have been hit with strikes, including McDonald’s, Food Lion, Walmart, Amazon, Whole Foods, Instacart and Perdue. Sanitation workers in Pittsburgh have gone on strike to protest unsafe working conditions.

This initial wave hints at the power that could be unleashed in the form of work stoppages, rent strikes, and other responses, and it has nervous politicians scrambling to make concessions. While it would be naïve to suggest that politicians have true concern for workers’ well-being, it is important to understand that without these and other militant actions around the country — and the real likelihood that this is just the beginning — they would not have felt the pressure to respond.

Furthermore, ideological opposition to capitalism itself and support for socialism has become increasingly pronounced in recent years, especially among youth. Economic inequality has become a central part of political discourse in the United States. The ruling class is well aware of these phenomena as well.

Gains from struggle

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES) signed into law on March 27 allocates an estimated $260 billion to address surging unemployment as part of the stimulus package of at minimum $2 trillion, much of it going to Wall Street and large corporations. The law creates three new federally funded unemployment insurance programs: Pandemic Unemployment Compensation, Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation, and Pandemic Unemployment Assistance.

These new programs should have received more funding, but they do expand eligibility and increase payment amounts. Self-employed workers and those who have exhausted their limit of benefits are now covered, in addition to workers who would usually be eligible for benefits. Other newly eligible groups include people seeking part-time work, those who would not have had a sufficient employment history, and people who are quarantined or whose workplace is closed due to COVID-19.

Workers will receive an additional $600 per week above the previously allotted payment.

The new benefits are administrated by state government offices, many of them under-funded and ill-equipped to deal with the surge in demand. Workers who experience problems should not give up. People should first check the Department of Labor website to confirm eligibility.

Then contact your state unemployment office by phone or online.

Document everything: Date and time of call, length of conversation, who you spoke to, screen shots of pages on the web site. And if your claim is denied, legal aid advocates may be able to offer assistance.

Without pressure from the working class, capitalists and the politicians who serve them will concede nothing. This pandemic has exposed how broken the system is, and how deadly the consequences are. We stand in solidarity with the striking workers and the unemployed in these and future crucial struggles.
